Mexico has the most adequate venues and facilities as sites for incentive travel and corporate conventions, it has grown in buildings and specialized services throughout the country.
Mundo Editorial, editor and publisher of the trade magazines of Mexico: "Convenciones", Weekly de Convenciones and "Giros", as well as Avanti Meetings & Incentives, are directly involved in the total organization of mpm 2009 with the support of the Ministry of Tourism and the Mexico Tourism Board.
mpm 2009 in Puerto Vallarta will be the sixth edition of Mexico's meetings and incentives marketplace.

The event is divided in five equally important elements to reach expected results, always thinking on the buyers and their needs:
1. Seminars.- Attendees will learn how to do business, and find solutions when organizing events in Mexico.
2. Trade show.- Designed so that buyers might, on the basis of pre-established appointments, research and inquire on Mexican tourism destinations, facilities and specialized services.
3. City orientation visit.- Puerto Vallarta is a warm, friendly and exciting destination, full of tastes and colors, suitable for conventions and incentives. A tour around the city to discover its beauty and the site's attractions will be part of the general program.
4. Pre and Post extended stay.- Only for foreign buyers.That way the participants have a chance to experience Puerto Vallarta and see what is has to discover for the MICE business as well as getting some free time to relax in Puerto Vallarta.
5. Networking.- Enjoy public relations, meet your peers, learn how they manage their own business and react to the same problems you find in the industry and see others' points of view about future conventions and incentives.

The Board of Directors is formed by 3 members and the support of a Marketing Board:
a) The Ministry of Tourism of Mexico: SECTUR
b) The Mexico Tourism Board: CPTM
c) Mundo Editorial and AVANTI Meetings and Incentives
d) Marketing Board
Eligible buyers for mpm 2009 must be people who organize, influence or make budgetary decisions for conventions, meetings, incentive travel, or conferences and are interested in hosting events in Mexico.
Applicants will be chosen through a careful selection process to ensure the best possible quality of participants.
Two types of guests are eligible to attend mpm 2009 as buyers:
1.-Association and Corporate Executives in charge of event planning.
2.-Incentive houses, specialized travel agencies, incentive fulfillment companies and marketing specialists involved in meeting planning

The Sea - inlet

Always guided by the philosophy of enjoying nature at its best while preserving the natural environment, we will visit a beautiful and secluded inlet called Yalku . Located in the coastline of the Akumal region, snorkeling in this inlet will allow us to experience a halocline, the natural phenomenon in which the fresh water coming from the underground rivers mixes with the ocean waters. In addition, we will delight in watching exotic birds and marine species for which this inlet serves as their refuge and nesting site.

We will snorkel in the inlet's clear waters surrounded by a wide variety of marine life, including tropical fish, and if we're lucky, we'll come across sea turtles and manta rays.

In addition to the marine life, we will enjoy the spectacle of the mangrove, an amazing ecosystem that serves as breeding and nesting ground for hundreds of fish species, and as the temporary home of a range of exotic migratory birds from November to May.

We went on the Mayan Adventure tour offered in the pamphlets in the hotel. My husband and myself and our 4 teens all enjoyed the day. You get picked up at your hotel and driven to Yal Kul lagoon for the first snorkel. This is an underground river joining the ocean. Saw Turtles and a Barracuta. Quite a swim out to the reef though so we wre moving alot and I would have preferred to have had more time in the lagoon with the colourful fish.
the next place was a cenote cave and that was exciting. Just an open cave, no tunnels or anything too scary. Beautiful! Last was an open cenote and the ritual sacrifice of jumping 35 feet into the lake. Well I used the stairs.... Lunch included and it was a great day.

To all our clients: CDC has been monitoring the ongoing outbreak of novel H1N1 flu in Mexico and, with the assistance of the Mexican authorities, has obtained a more complete picture of the outbreak. There is evidence that the Mexican outbreak is slowing down in many cities though not all. In addition, the United States and other countries are now seeing increasing numbers of cases not associated with travel to Mexico. Finally, the risk of severe disease from novel H1N1 virus infection now appears to be less than originally thought.

CDC Recommendations ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

At this time, CDC has removed its recommendation that U.S. travelers avoid travel to Mexico. CDC continues to recommend that travelers visiting Mexico take steps to protect themselves from getting novel H1N1 flu.

is swine flu really swine flu...3000 american die from the normal flu every month...flu changes as a virus all the time...so a new flu is some thing that is always happening...one possibility maybe that this new strain of flu has been given the name of swine flu and is questionable as to wether it is linked to pigs but could be linked to birds...they then scare the hell out of everyone and then make a law saying everyone has to be vaccinated with a vaccine that any doctor that knows about viruses knows that there is no vaccine or anti viral that can work if this is a new strain..

Due to the sharp drop in tourists arrivals, the hotels in Cancun and Riviera Maya, the country's top tourist destinations, announced they would fully refund travelers' vacation expenses if they contract the virus during their vacation in the Caribbean country.

"If the symptoms of the virus appear within 14 days of his or her departure from the country, than that person, along with a travel companion, is entitled to three years of free vacation, hotelier Fernando Garcia Zalvidea said.

He said the aim is to boost hotel occupancy that has fallen by 20 percent since the outbreak of the flu.

He added that as of Tuesday consortiums accounting for more than 5,000 guestrooms, including some four and five-star hotels, have signed on to the money-back promotion.

Zalvidea said all the hotels participating in the campaign are stepping up anti-flu measures.

He said visitors would now enjoy more privileges, including big discounts and entertainment packages.

"There's never been a better opportunity than now to visit a tourist destination in Mexico; rates are available that are 50 percent lower than the original cost," he said.

Uxmal and Kabah
Uxmal is one of the most representative cities of the Mayan culture. It is 38 miles away from Merida and, at its peak, had a population of 25,000. This impressive city has a particular structure known as Puuc, typical in this area, built following a quadrangular design.

During this tour, we will visit the Magician's Pyramid, the Quadrangle of the Nuns, the Ball Game Court, and the Governor's Palace. According to historical references, Uxmal was a walled fortress and the name means "three times built". The Magician's Pyramid is 115 feet tall and a legend says it was built in just one night. It is made up of 5 structures from different eras and is the most important edifice of this archeological zone.

Later, we'll go south to explore Kabah, which means "the lord with the strong and powerful hand". This city is particularly known for being connected by roads or "sabec," one of which was popularly used as a path to Uxmal, located 23 miles to the north.

Once in Kabah, we will visit the famous Arch that connects both cities. Then, we'll walk to the Great Pyramid and the stunning Temple of the Masks. This interesting journey into the Mayan world ends with a delicious lunch buffet style at the Mision Uxmal Hotel.

Mayan city of Uxmal:
The zone was first settled in 500 B.C., but it wasn't until the ninth and twelfth centuries A.D. that it became the seat of Mayan political and economic power in the Puuc region.

It is estimated that a population of around twenty-five thousand inhabitants was distributed throughout a territory of 37.5 square kilometers with enormous agricultural potential, but lacking in permanent water sources. For this reasons the Mayas constructed chultunes, or underground cisterns, and complex drinking water system, including aguadas and bukteoobob for the utilization of rainwater.

The architecture at this site is one of the most authentic examples of the Puuc style. Decorative features such as the three-dimensional masks of the god Chaac, colonnades, the two-headed jaguar, and other iconographic symbols demonstrate Uxmal's position in the most important cultural and commercial circuits of the Maya Classic Era.

The walled civic-administrative area occupies an area of one kilometer from north to south and .6 kilometer from east to west. The place-type structures are arranged around courtyards, forming quadrangles. The decoration is among the richest and most varied of all the archaeological zones, including representations of god, animals, dignitaries, and geometric forms. There are also residential structures in the surrounding area.

No doubt, Uxmal is considered as the most splendid archaeological site from the Pre Hispanic era on the American Continent because of the proportions of its majestic constructions decorated with delicate embossment, which are carved with elegance and precision, astounding both, scientific community and visitors, since the Mayan builders had neither metal tools nor detectable means of transportation.

      The Nun's Quadrangle, so called since the Conquest for its similarity to a convent; comprised of four large structures resting on an artificial platform and surrounding a grand central square, 75mts long by 45mts wide.       This name was given to the VVIIth. century. It is comprised of four palaces placed at different levels, which surround the Patio.
      Its construction dates from around 900-1000 A.D. The facades offer a rich combination of decorative motifs such as lattice-work, colonnades, huts, masked representations of the Rain God, Two-headed serpents, owls, Symbols of the planet Venus, geometrical elements, human figures, naked or tied up, either sitting or standing. Quite conspicuous are the representations Tlaloc, The Rain God of Central Mexico.

      The Soothsayers House, The name of this building comes from a Mayan legend known as "The Legend of the Goblin of Uxmal". The building is about 35 meters high and shaped like a truncated cone. Up till known, five different construction phases, each with a distinctive style have been discovered.
      These modifications were undertaken so as to satisfy the functional and religious need of each ensuing period. To the Westerly side one can observe Temples 1, 3, 4 and 5 which are dated between the VIIIth. century and 1050 A.D. Towards the East lies the access to Temple 2, which dates from the VIIIth. century as does the aforementioned Temple 5.

      The House of the Turtles. This building is 30 mts. long and 10 mts. wide and is comprised of seven recincts. The decoration is sober and its smooth lower walls contrast with the colonnades that decorate the upper facade, where, throughout the length of the cornice, one can observe sculptures of turtles, who were important animals due to there association with rain and the Earth cycles. This temple was most surely dedicated to Aquiatic Cult. The architectural style corresponds to the later phase of Flourishing Puuc or Late Uxmal (900 - 1000 A.D.)

      The Pillory Shrine. This shrine is built upon a square pedestal. There is a truncated cone - shaped monolith emplaced in the center which appears to have been stuccoed and upon which hieroglyphs and symbolic ornamentation were painted. Besides that, it is also known as the Flogging Block. There is, of course, a simplified version in which the stone represents the Central Tree ( "Axis Mundi"), the Ya' axche Cab. which is mentioned in Maya Mythology. Everything indicates that it was built around the same time as the Governors Palace.
      Throne of the Jaguar. Each side of the platform is 4.85 meters long and 1.20 meters high. It has steps on al four sides. A sculpture of a Two Headed jaguar, which served as a throne, is placed in the middle. Diggings made between 1951 - 52 made its restoration possible and also brought to light a valuable offering from its interior. 913 pieces were found, including beads, pectorals, Jade earring, earthenware, Cornaline, polished black stone, spear heads, and Flint and Obsidian knives.
      Great Pyramid, or Temple of the Macaws. This truncated pyramid is made up of nine sections, built on different levels; the upper part known as the Temple of the Macaws because these tropical birds are depicted in the decoration, together with ornamental frets and fillets with entwined snakes, grotesque animal mask. etc. This pyramid probably dates to the mid 8th Century.

The Tourism Committee is headed by the Secretary of Tourism of Quintana Roo, and is formed by the Ministry of Health, the City Mayors of the municipalities of the State, as well as Hotels Associations, Chambers, Airport Authorities, National Institute of Immigration Taxi drivers' Unions, Consulates and the State Destinations Tourism Promotion Boards. The State Health Department reported that to date, Cancun, Riviera Maya and the various tourist destinations in the Mexican Caribbean are free from the contagion of the outbreak of human influenza that has been presented in the center of the country. The various preventive measures implemented in recent days are: The tourism industry, including hotels, restaurants, theme parks, shopping malls, marinas, buses and taxis are used for prevention and sanitation measures to prevent this serious virus affecting the general population and tourists. No Travel Restrictions to Mexico

Tourism to Mexico is flowing as normal and as of now, there are no restrictions or travel alerts from any foreign country to visit Riviera Maya or Cancun area in Mexico.

This was confirmed by the World Health Organization (WHO) after eliminating the possibility of issuing quarantine, therefore transit into and out of the country has and will continue flowing as normal.

In the case of the United States, which is the most important international market for Mexico, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta, Ga., confirmed that there are no restrictions whatsoever for Americans visiting Mexico.

The Federal Government has activated a mechanism called Border Group, in which the Ministry of Tourism, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the National Institute of Immigration and the Customs Agency are working together to provide specific information about any outbreaks in Mexico.

Likewise, all Mexican ports, consular institutions and embassies abroad are offering information about the risks, forms of transmission, symptoms and preventive measures that should be taken to avoid the spreading of this ailment.

Good morning! We are certain you had a very well rested night in one of our comfortable Hotels. After having a nice breakfast we will take you to start your culinary experience at Casa Crespo with Oscar Cariozza owner of Casa Crespo and a true Mexican traditions expert. He will guide you through a wonderful cooking
experience, starting from a warm welcome to heading to the market and decide the ingredients for a four course meal. At this beautiful place you will be preparing a tasty sampling of Oaxacan cuisine, such as Mole Negro, bean soup and delicacies as the quesadillas of zucchini blossoms and fresh string cheese, all with native and
modern cooking methods.

After tasting your creations, we will direct our attention to the historic center of Oaxaca, crossing its beautiful streets, visiting the Santo Domingo Museum, the Catholic Cathedral in downtown, and a master piece of the Mexican Religious Art and named one of the UNESCO heritage sites in Mexico. We will visit the traditional handcrafts market where you will be amazed of all the beautiful things you will find. From sculptures made out of black clay to all different types of typical and traditional food such as the fresh string cheese, the handmade chocolate and the interesting and delicious grasshoppers. We will close this wonderful day dinning at the famous "15 Letras".

Day Three:
Buenos Dias! After having a hearty breakfast at the delicious restaurant "La Olla" (The Pot), we will start our day with a visit to the magnificent Monte Alban.
Monte Alban is a pre-Columbian archaeological site in the southern part of Oaxaca located on a low mountainous range rising above the plain in the central section of the Valley. It is one of the earliest cities of Mesoamerica; its importance stems also from its role as the pre-eminent Indigenous culture of the Zapotecs for close to a
thousand years. Visiting Atzompa, the place where the traditional natural pottery along with the green glassed pottery are made. You will enjoy the site seen and the magnificent pyramids along with the beautiful pottery that you will have the opportunity to buy at the handcraft market.

After this exciting and beautiful morning it is time for a light lunch and some time off to walk the nearby stores, in preparation for an awesome cooking experience
with Alejandro Ruiz at Casa Oaxaca, one of the most famous Chefs in the country. He is recognized for his unique techniques at cooking and the fusion of flavors and textures for a true modern Oaxacan cuisine. Among his creations we find the fresh red snapper ceviche with mango and passion fruit sauce a totally worthy experience. The dinner is truly a great experience and the best ending of a great meal could be a coffee tasting from a great Oaxacan coffee company.

Day Four:
Hola! Buenos Dias! After having a great breakfast at the hotel we are ready for a great experience to share at "Seasons of my heart". We will visit the Etla market on a
tasting tour with the great Susana Trilling Executive Chef and Owner and we will buy some ingredients for the menu we will develop at the class. After a light lunch, we
head out to Rancho Aurora, an amazing place where Susana will introduce us to the Oaxacan Cuisine and to a presentation of the ingredients to use at the class. Be
prepared to take an apron and create a five-course meal and then enjoy!
After a well deserved time off, walk the nearby streets of Oaxaca or to take pictures of the nice Plaza at the Zocalo. We will have dinner at one of the beautiful restaurants with modern twist, where you will be able to taste the fusion between the Oaxaca modern and the classic and traditional.

Day Five:
After all the fun we had you might think there will be nothing more, well you are wrong, what is left is the most extraordinaire experience, a cooking class with one fantastic woman, Ofelia Toledo owner of the restaurant Yu Ne Niza, a well recognized woman in U.S. and Mexico for her culinary experience. She is a woman from the region called Itsmo and a "Mayora" (a Mayora is a woman that works with the executive Chef arm to arm and usually runs the kitchen with perfect rules and order) Ofelia will share with you her traditional and original Oaxacan true native way of cooking, From indigenous background, Ofelia will show you how a true "Indigena Oaxaqueña" cooks.
After having this great experience the day will not be complete with a trip to an artisanal distillery. We will show you the art behind the
production of the "Mezcal", a very traditional drink and now certified by the "origin denomination" that is making a strong comeback everywhere in Mexico and abroad.

On the last part of this colorful day, we will close it with a visit to Teotitlan del Valle, a small town where the handcrafted carpets are made. We will visit a family workshop with more than 50 years in tradition. All rugs, carpets, rebozos and othe rwool pieces are handmade, and dyed with natural ingredients and with pre-Hispanic techniques . If you like beautiful handcrafts for your home, a tapestry or an elegant rebozo will be the envy of friends and family .
A visit to Oaxaca will not be complete without a visit to "El Arbol del Tul"e a giant sequoi a w h ich is believed has more than 1,200 years and its wide trunk has created dierent shapes as a deer, a lion and many more your eyes can try to find out. We will nish our day with a goodbye dinner at "La Viznaga", a traditional, modern and exquisite Restaurant that will close the day with avor!

Day Six:
On our last day, bitter sweet goodbye, after having breakfast at yourh otel, we miss you already! It was a pleasure to cook with you and we look forward to seeing you back soon.

After having a nice breakfast, we will welcome you properly and in a very light meeting we will provide you with a detailed itinerary for all of our activities during your trip explaining each one of them. Finally we will take you on a tour through the historic center of Puebla and its surroundings. You will be able to see and learn about the majestic Cathedral, the San Francisco Church and the Forts that guarded Puebla on the "Cinco de Mayo Battle". You'll get to shop at the "Mercado El Parian" and take a good look to "Casa Del Alfeñique", a house that seems to be made of white sugar candy. And speaking of candy, we'll take you to the Santa Clara Street, famous for all the shops that sell traditional candies where you'll be able to buy traditional r the enjoyment of friends and family back home.
After the visit to the Historic Center you'll be more than readfor your first cooking class at "Meson de Sacristía" where you nonly will have a lot of fun but also you'll learn to cook a three course meal of themost traditional dishes, along with the pre-Hispanic techniques that make Mexican food unique. Your teacher will be the great chef Alonso Hernández, who will always keep a friendly and warm environment. One of the traditional handcrafts from Puebla is the famous "Talavera"; The Talavera is a type of ceramic that originated in Talavera, Spainduring the Moorish occupation that can only be made under license in Puebla and Tlaxcala. Many people consider Puebla, the home of Mexican Talavera because it was the place to set the first regulations and standards for determining uniformity and excellence for the traditional Mexican Talavera. The locations where the regulations are met are called "fábricas" and as Uriarte Talavera, which was founded by Sr. Don Dimas Uriarte in 1824. This factory has been in the hands of the sfamily for four generations: And who could be ship it right to your home.
