Sybil Waldrop

"When a child has a need to discover, that is the best time to learn. When your wants to do what you are doing in the kitchen is the best time for you to encourage him to help. Mack wanted to work like his mother. Mother pulled a chair beside her near the cabinet and let Mack pull the lettuce apart and break off pieces for the salad. True, this took longer than if she had done it herself, but this was the opportune moment to follow the lead of a child. Whild slower, this was good economy of time. Mack is learning that he is a person with respect. He feels important because he can help; he can do it himself. His mother can use this natural situation to share a Bible thought. 'Mack, thank you for helping Mother. The Bible says, "Help one another." You have helped Mother by pulling the lettuce apart to help make the salad.' Then she softly sang, ' I ams glad God gave you hands so you can help make salad.' This lesson in helping and thanking God for hands was spontaneous and a teachable moment."

May we as parents take advantage of the teachable moments God gives us each day.

Creation Station Preschool Ministryclynn@tbclife.net1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4969734568556294003.post-70281245450817329052009-02-19T20:39:00.002-06:002009-02-19T20:51:52.465-06:00My kidsI have two girls and I love them so much. I am thankful that God blessed my with girls. Once a month I have the privilege to watch them as my wife has Bunko. Tonight was that night and it usually a sweet time. Dads, if you watch your kids regularly, GREAT! If you don't you should. You are missing a huge blessing. Our kids to know that their daddy loves them and can care for them. It is not our wife's job to raise our kids. I would say it is both mom and dads role. I love being a dad of girls. I want to be able to share information with each of you of the happenings in the Preschool Ministry. I will do a better job. I am working on some cool events/things that will promote the Preschool more than we have in the past.

For now, make sure you check out Rick Morton's blog. Rick is the Discipleship Pastor at Temple. He is my boss in title but he is so much more than that. He is my friend and a mentor of mine. He is a huge supporter of mine and willing to do what it takes. His family is in the process of adopting a child from Ukraine. He was placed in a manger for a bed. Read the Christmas story with your preschooler from a children’s Bible. Use the figures of your Nativity scene (or any small dolls) to act out the Christmas story with your child. The dolls can go from place to place trying to find somewhere to sleep only to be told there is no room. Have the dolls arrive at a group of animals and find a place to rest. Finally, sing “Away in a Manger” with your preschooler and lay the baby Jesus to sleep with the animals.

Creation Station Preschool Ministryclynn@tbclife.net1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4969734568556294003.post-10374547266389306482008-12-12T05:02:00.000-06:002008-12-12T05:02:00.813-06:00Great video on Advent

Creation Station Preschool Ministryclynn@tbclife.net0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4969734568556294003.post-81545398372978382102008-12-10T05:20:00.000-06:002008-12-10T05:20:00.459-06:00Advent for PreschoolersFrom www.christian-parent.com

Setting up an advent wreath in the house is a wonderful way to show your children that Christ holds first place in your house at Christmas.

You can create one at the beginning of December and light a candle each Sunday. You can also do this project on Christmas Eve and light all the candles on Christmas Eve.

To make an advent wreath, carve out four evenly spaced holes around a Styrofoam circle. The circle stands for eternity and reminds us of God's presence and His unending love for each one of us.

You will need five candles. These remind us that Jesus is the Light of the world. You can choose five red candles or five white candles or a meaningful combination of three purple, one pink and one white candle. The color purple signifies Jesus' royalty.

Insert the candles into the holes. The white candle stands in the center of the wreath. Cover the Styrofoam with small sprigs of artificial branches. You can add bows, or ornaments or pinecones.

On the first Sunday of December you light one purple candle. This is the prophecy candle which symbolizes Jesus' first coming.

On the second Sunday of December you light the first candle again and the second purple candle. This is the Bethlehem candle and reminds us to prepare for His birth.

On the third Sunday you light the first and second candle plus the third purple one. It is the Shepherd's candle and reminds us to share the good news of His coming.

Then on the fourth Sunday you light the first three candles and the pink one, which is the Angel candle symbolizing God's love for us all.

On Christmas Eve you light all the candles and the middle white one, the Christ candle.

If you'd rather buy a wreath than make one, you can find them at a Christian bookstore.

Creation Station Preschool Ministryclynn@tbclife.net0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4969734568556294003.post-45243381574458847252008-12-09T06:00:00.000-06:002008-12-09T06:00:03.118-06:00Tim Hawkins on Parenting

Tim Hawkins is a Christian comedian who has been to Temple twice. Laziness or busyness. I don't know which one it is. It is amazing how at the holidays everything gets busier. Each of us are busy but busy is relative. Some people are busier than others and we all handle it different.

Let me encourage in this busy time of the year in three ways:
1. Don't forget about your kids. Usually, we as parents make Christmas about the gifts that we are getting for our kids and for family members. What our kids need the most is us. They need our time.
2. Don't forget about church. Even more important your time with the Lord.
3. Enjoy the time with your family, especially your spouse. Husbands, your wife needs you. Wives, your husband needs you. Take of your spouse. They are the most important person you have. Merry Christmas. That is still politically correct.

Creation Station Preschool Ministryclynn@tbclife.net0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4969734568556294003.post-8095475621765030962008-11-24T06:00:00.001-06:002008-11-24T06:00:01.399-06:00T-ShirtsDon't forget we are taking T-Shirt Orders. You can adopt a child for Christmas. You can purchase a gift or two for a child to provide them a happier Christmas. Take your child with you as you purchase the item and explain why you are buying a gift. Lists are available at the Depot.
2. Sign up to ring a bell. We are ringing a Salvation Bell on Saturday, December 6, at the kettle at Corner Market on Old Hwy 11 next to Temple from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00p.m. Sign up for a 30 minute time slot. This will be a great time to show your preschooler missions.

Let us know if you have questions.

Creation Station Preschool Ministryclynn@tbclife.net0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4969734568556294003.post-69356995465075970102008-11-22T21:09:00.003-06:002008-11-22T21:29:39.113-06:00Preschool SongsMusic is very important in the growth of a child. When we as adults were growing up, we can probably remember songs vividly, probably more so as teenagers. What are some of the "classics" that you learned at church?
