Orkut friend suggestion

Sometimes you're in search of old friends and can't seem to find the one you're looking for. Friend suggestion is one tool on orkut that can help you in this. If you've common friends then chances are you'll get friend suggestion.

My observation with orkut's friend suggestion is that it imports contacts from email address. And from there it searches if any person is on orkut for that email address. If available then it shows profile pic and link. If you confirm that by looking at pic or profile then you can send friend request to profile and get back your lost friend on orkut :)

Orkut's new feature: Promote

I guess google is rolling up new feature for orkut. Currently there is on box on right hand side of my profile, community page is showing up. It is asking me to check a particular thread promoted by my friends friend. Now this is something cool, i mean if you want to reach wide audience with any of your product, community or to get more response to your threads. In such cases, orkut promote can give you good results.

It is still in beta and not available to every user and countries. I think it will be added to main features list soon. Expect SPAM and misuse of this service as well. and why just negative side of it. People will even find innovative ways to benefit from it.

I found one application that encrypts notes and attach it with progam as single file. You can take this program anywhere and use it on multiple computers with encryption feature ofcourse.

Face detection in Photo tagging on Orkut

Have you ever uploaded your photo on orkut albums recently ? If yes, then you'll notice that when you upload photos, it detects face features like nose, ear, eyes and lips etc. or even creates square on face. This is excellent feature which is not intended for the face detection of individual but to detect certain features in face and allow to tag them.

Friend Connect on Orkut

Google recently integrated friend connect into orkut. You can share your participating sites on orkut. So this way it is like orkut being more social.

Follow the steps connect your orkut account to Friend connect:

1. Login to Friend connect using your Orkut loginID.
2. Link your Orkut account to Friend Connect account to orkut.
3. Done.

Now you've access to the those participating sites from within orkut. You'll able to keep tab on participating sites from within orkut.

This is something like breaking suspense from your secret admirer's diary. Or you can find out who has crush on you etc.

Follow these steps to find out to know who added you in crush list:

1. Add all your friend into the crush list.
2. If any of your friend already added you in crush list then you'll get an email from orkut.
3. Now once you get email or not. you can delete the list now.

How to create a bootable CD/DVD

I assume you've Nero Burning ROM Software installed when you purchased Writer drive. If not download Nero from official website.

Step1
Start Nero - Burning Rom.
Select File -> New... from the menu.
1.) Select CD-ROM (Boot) or DVD-ROM(boot)
2.) Select Image file from Source of boot image data
3.) Set Kind of emulation: to No Emulation
4.) Set Load segment of sectors (hex!): to 07C0
5.) Set Number of loaded sectors: to 4
6.) Press the Browse... button

Step 2

Select All Files (*.*) from File of type:
Locate boot image file....lets say boot.bin, boot.img or boot.ima....etc

Step 3

Click ISO tab
Set File-/Directory length to ISO Level 1 (Max. of 11 = 8 + 3 chars)
Set Format to Mode 1
Set Character Set to ISO 9660
Check all Relax ISO Restrictions

Step 4

Click Label Tab
Select ISO9660 from the drop down box.
Enter the Volume Label as BootableDVD or whatever you want.

Step 5

Click Burn tab
Check Write
Check Finalize CD (No further writing possible!)
Set Write Method to Disk-At-Once

Press New button

Step 6

Locate the folder say eg. C:\Files
Select everything in the folder and drag it to the ISO compilation panel.
Click the Write CD Dialog button.

Press Write. And you're done.

Earlier i reviewed Note-it software from veign on this blog. It was nice application with some excellent features. Continuing my search i decided to try more note making applications.

PNotes is one such application. It has some interesting feature and good look and feel.

It is freeware and rich with look and feel, allows skinning as well.

I found free file compare utility. It works from command line as well as plugin for word 2007. It is simple utility with powerful features. It is "Comparer".
