Annual Education Mass celebrated by Archbishop Thomas Collins

All Catholic educators of the archdiocese are invited to pause before the new academic year and gather together for a celebration of the Eucharist. This is a yearly opportunity to dedicate ourselves once again to the teaching vocation to which we are called and to receive a special blessing. Archbishop Thomas Collins will be celebrating the 7th annual Education Mass on:

Following the mass, there will be a dinner in the parish hall after which Archbishop Thomas Collins will speak about:

Everyone, of course, is welcome to attend the mass for free. Tickets for the dinner are $40 each. Please e-mail your requests for dinner reservations to barry.white@tcdsb.org. The Spiritual Dimension of Violence

Book Club Meeting at the Newman Centre

Our Book Club at the Newman Centre meets again next on Wednesday May 14th. We continue our reading and discussion of the book "The Risk of Education" by Luigi Giussani. We will be discussing Chapter 1. We meet from 7:00 pm to 8:30 pm at the Newman Centre which is located at the northeast corner of Harbord and St George (Harbord Street entrance). All are welcome.

Annual 2008 Lenten Retreat for Teachers

Catholic educators; professors, classroom teachers, educational assistants, tutors, etc. are invited to take time out this Lent to reflect on their vocation as teacher. This year, in anticipation of the Year of St Paul, the theme of the retreat will be “In the footsteps of St Paul, the Teacher”. Mass will be celebrated. Lunch and hospitality are included in the cost of registration.

Catholic Teachers Guild Book Club at the Newman Centre

Come join your fellow Catholic teachers for reading, discussion and socializing!

The Catholic Teachers Guild sponsors a Book Club which meets at the Newman Centre on the second Wednesday of the month in the evening from 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm.
The book we will be starting with is "The Risk of Education" by Fr Luigi Giussani. Copies of the book will be made available at the sessions. Our first session will be on December 12 followed by meetings on Jan 16, Feb 13, April 9, May 14, and June 11. People are welcome to join at any point throughout the year. The Newman Centre is located on the campus of the University of Toronto at the north-east corner of Harbord and St George. Hope to see you there. The Role of the Eucharist in the Life of the Teacher

Professor Emeritus and founder of the Christianity and Culture Program at the University of Toronto.

Teachers – whether in elementary, secondary, post-secondary, Catholic, public or private schools – are invited to take time out this Lent to reflect on their vocation as teacher. In this, the Year of the Eucharist, the theme of the retreat will be “The Role of the Eucharist in the Life of a Teacher.” Mass will be celebrated. Lunch and hospitality are included.

The retreat will be lead by Janine Langan, Professor Emeritus and founder of the Christianity and Culture Program at the University of Toronto.
