The position of Sri Sultan Hamengku Buwono X and Sri Paku Alam IX as the Governor and Vice-Governor of Yogyakarta Special Region (DIY) extended after the President dismissed the decision that will be handed over by the Minister For Home Affairs (Mr. Mardiyanto) on Wednesday (Oct.8). Mr. Mardiyanto stated that the extension of tenure of Sri Sultan and Paku Alam longest three years. Mardiyanto stated that the meeting with the Indonesian President (Mr. Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono) was quite special discussed the term of service of Sri Sultan Hamengku Buwono X and Sri Paku AlamaIX as the Governor and Vice-Governor of Yogyakarta Special Region for the period 2003 until 2008 that ended this October 9 2008. Sri Sultan stressed will receive and did not discuss the extension of the term of office with the Paku Alam IX as the Governor and Vice-Governor of Yogyakarta Special Region provided that not beyond five years. According to the Sultan, a period of five years have been one count period.

THE AUSTRIAN AMBASSADOR MET THE GOVERNOR OF YOGYAKARTA SPECIAL REGION

To follow up a co-operation the Sister Province between the Tyrol Province, Austria and the Yogyakarta Province, the Austrian ambassador to Indonesia, Klaus Wolfer on Wednesday, 13/2 made the visit to Governor of DIY, Sri Sultan Hamengku Buwono X in Gedhong Willis, the Kepatihan (Submissiveness) Yogyakarta complex.

Apart from discussed about continuation of the Sister Province work, the Austrian Ambassador asked how the handling of the DIY Government after the earthquake that happened almost 2 (two) last year.

Governor said that at that time was accompanied by the Secretary of the area and the Head of the Bureau of the Setda DIY Co-operation, Drs. Nur Sharir Rahardjo, explained that the reconstruction stage and rehabilitation to the building that was destroyed because this disaster has been finished all of them, only remained at the handling for paralysed casualties or the defect.

THE CURRICULUM OF GAJAH MADA UNIVERSITY, FACULTY OF AGRICULTURE WOULD HAVING INTERNATIONAL STANDARD

The Vice-Dean Faculty of Agriculture UGM of academic and research field, Dr. Sri Peni Wastutiningsih said that every curriculum intrinsically must open to critic and gradually transform.

For the agenda of correcting education curriculum of agriculture, the side of Faculty of Agriculture UGM has invited some expert of agriculture from Japan, Korea, Vietnam, and France, to give related input of development of the existing agriculture field.

Present as a speaker in this workshop are Prof. Teruo Maeda from Hiroshima University, Japan; from National University of Kangnung South Korea; Prof Tran Van Hai from Chan Tho University, Vietnam; Dr Jean Piere Caliman from CIRAD, France.

Dr. Jean Piere Caliman in his presentation submitting needs the existence of curriculum concerning three things, sustainability, and wise management, organic and of farming.

Meanwhile, Prof Dr Jeong is more highlighting about addition of the courses object is being based on practical skill to add the ability and skill of agriculture graduate. The addition of ability in practical skill can be done by following apprentice during 3 month or to one year, by fund from campus or sponsor.

Relates to addition of education of this practice, Penny in agreement, because till now student lack of practical skill.

MALAYSIA AIRLINES WILL OPERATE IN YOGYAKARTA

On February 1^ST coming, Malaysian Airlines (MAS) will open air transport route of Jogja-Kuala Lumpur and Kuala Lumpur-Jogja. Air transport schedule will be planned three of times within a week, on Tuesday, Friday and Sunday. Air transport of MH 858 will apply airplane Boeing 737-400 departs from Yogyakarta at 11:40 AM and arrives at Kuala Lumpur at 15:05 PM, and air transport departures of MH 857 of Kuala Lumpur at 09:20 AM and arrives at 10:15 AM in Yogyakarta.

The flight will use two configuration classes that is 128 economy and 16 business class. In the international flight route, Malaysia Airlines offers lowest price ticket vise-versa at cost USD 106 not including tax and or other charge, and sold through sale office of MAS or travel agent in Yogyakarta from all Indonesia.

Tazbir (The Head of Tourism Department of Yogyakarta) said that his side has done coordination with various party/sides either with the organizer Adisutjipto Airport and also with tourism perpetrator to prepare re-opened those international flight. GAMELAN MAKING CALM SOUL

Yogyakarta city really deserve called as cultural city. We can feel very solid, thick and strong the nuance of Java before entering the Malioboro street. On the Abu Bakar Ali parking area we can watch, listen and enjoy the rhythm of Gamelan (the traditional Javanese music instrument) music. Since October 2007, an art group performed the gamelan traditional art routinely. (sample picture: set of Gamelan)

The traditional music created from the sound blend of gong, kenong, bonang and other various gamelan instrument can give soul really calmness. You can enjoy it every day from 8 AM to 8 PM. In every times staging, there is around eight to nine mans who is playing a set gamelan. Simply not only the local tourist that enjoy it, but foreign countries tourist also hardly likes this gamelan music.

The actors who are playing the gamelan come from various areas of Yogyakarta. They seem to be hardly expert plays the castanets. They hope that this tradition is eternal and enthused by the young generations.

Till now, Yogyakarta visited as tourism city especially because of the uniqueness of cultural tradition like the gamelan show in Abu Bakar Ali parking area. Hence, don’t let the tradition extinct from Yogyakarta.

BUS SHELTERS OF TRANS JOGJA IS INSTALLED THE TICKETING MACHINE

As technical preparation for operational bus Trans-Jogja, now is being done installation of ticketing machine and interconnection network system of ticketing machine inter-shelters of bus Trans-Jogja. Beside that, there are also regulation preparation that is the draft of revision for Local Regulation 10 the year 2001 and Local Regulation 9 the year 2005 both as legal fundament for operational bus Trans-Jogja. The Head of Communication Department Transportation Field of Yogyakarta Special Region, Sigit Haryanto said that the installation of ticketing machine would be done on January 15. The ticketing machine for the bus shelters which province government’s responsibility have been installed. While the ticketing machine for the bus shelter which town government’s responsibility are still in installation process.

Then, would be conduct the installation and testing of interconnection network system of ticketing machine inter-shelters with central server on Communication Department Office of Yogyakarta Special Region. As the bus ticket, the ticket would apply a smart card as size as the “ATM” card.

GIGI Performs Live Concert in Jogja

Last night Indonesian big band GIGI performs live concert in Mandala Krida Stadium Jogja, with "Peace, Love n' Respect" theme. really GIGI makes audiences to become hysterical. Before concert is started, stadium have been full. When I am entering in the stadium, there are thousands of people bes awaiting appearance of armand, budjana, thomas and hendy. a policeman tells that it is the concert with greatest audiences.

When podium lights are turned off, audience starts make scream to greet GIGI. The Concert starts at 20:30 PM. As introduction of GIGI's concert, opened instrumentally the song of "Indonesia Raya" and all audiences sing vigorously, involved me. Fireworks gunfire from behind podium adds the spirit of audiences. Song is opened with song entitling "Oo..oo..oo" and medley with song "Dimanakah Kau Berada". All audiences in the middle field are singing while make some jumping.

GIGI's Concert, really difference this time. Performance each personal hardly attractive and energetic, the lighting really good, sound systems are good too, and others. GIGI also presents acoustic songs. The song which I be awaiting simply is sang by GIGI that is "nirwana" and "kuingin" with acoustic.

Something more making hysterical audience when Hendy plays solo drum in front of main podium. Very brilliant with metal music. Then is continued with bass solo by Thomas. Very cool. Audience doesn't desist to giving applause.

Armand said that this concert is the biggest concert of GIGI. He told that Jogja is a real town, precise to start Peace, Love n' Respect Concert. He adds also that there are "promotor" from Jakarta offering GIGI to start concert in Jakarta, and armand spells out members " no way, babe", and then the audiences greets hysterically.

Concert covered with song " 11 Januari" which is the existing hit song, started by rendering thanks to various party/sides which has assisted and supports GIGI's concert. The audiences sing "11 Januari" from beginning to end vigorously. The Concert ends around at 10:50 PM.

One of the Indonesian big band that is GIGI will perform the concert in Yogyakarta on January 11 2008, in the Mandala Krida Stadium. The concert had the theme "peace love n respect".

Then, why did Yogyakarta become the place of the choice?
GIGI has said in their official website that they choose Jogja to perform the concert because of Jogja as the place that was very historic for GIGI. In this city for the first time GIGI performed outside Jakarta, after their first album released, in 1994.
Then why must on January 11?
On January 11 became special for GIGI because of the song which titled "11 January" accepted by the wide community.

Dewa Budjana (the GIGI guitarist) said that the concert this time was different from the concert that beforehand. The concert was the single concert.
GIGI is going to bring approximately 30 songs that currently his repertoire is made between GIGI and the production and creative team.

Yogyakarta city, famous has many arts and culture, Tapa bisu mubeng beteng is the famous one.
Tapa Bisu Mubeng Beteng is an ascetism ritual by walking around the Palace fortress. People walking without speaking, this tradition is held to celebrate Javanese New Year event on the 1^st Suro month.

Thursday, tomorrow is 1^st Suro month (Javanese calender). So, tonight will be conducted the ritual Tapa Bisu Mubeng Beteng. This cultural event has been very old, but till at this time still could remain.

New Year 2008 Night Party Report in Yogyakarta

Last Night all world public celebrates commutation of year towards the year 2008. Mostly celebrating with fireworks party. The example in my hometown, Yogyakarta. New year party 2008 very hilarious. Like in previous years, fireworks party decorates Yogyakarta's sky.

All main streets of Yogyakarta city so crowded. Fulfilled by the pedestrians, motorcycles and cars. Malioboro street, one of the main street in Yogyakarta had been closed by police and just for the pedestrians.

I am with my friends starts circling from Magelang street, Tentara Pelajar street, Letjend. Suprapto street, KHA Dahlan street. situation of the moment is so crowd. Every person who rides motorbike or car must run slower.

Through the Malioboro street performed many hilarious events. Center of event in front of Yogyakarta Palace that is in Alun-alun Lor. We can also watch band music stage. Over there seen crowd large group of people who possibly amounts to tens of thousand. Top moment be awaited in the nick of time at 0:00 AM, new year 2008. Fireworks party so hilarious.
