The banks have tightened their lending standards so much it has slowed down the buying process immensely. As a result property owners have to be more creative. How is the Myrtle Beach economy?

These are just my views, but here is how I see it!

Well its the end of February, I was just told by a mortgage broker who works for Well Fargo that our market is the 15 healthiest in the country!!

I can believe that to a certain extent, Myrtle Beach real estate does seem to be picking up, Myrtle Beach rentals are surely picking up. But these things as well as tourism and hotel bookings always pick up this time of year. North Beach Plantation is about to open and camelot by the Sea and Anderson Ocean Club both looked busy this weekend. There are a lot of Myrtle Beach condos for sale, but there is a lot of real estate for sale even in small towns like Sumter, SC.

So none of this is a suprise to me atleast.

Back in December the Sun News (I can't find the article right now) ran a front page news article about how high our unemployment rates were. The story behind the story is that our unemployment rates are always high during the winter months. Its our slow months. They can re-write that story probably every year and just keep re-running it around Christmas.

The Hard Rock Theme park did file bankruptcy, but it looks like they have a buyer and are gearing up to re-open very soon. They were a huge sorce of jobs at the begining of 2008, but more than likly they would have laid off a massive amount of people in the off season anyway.

So all in all, I think the Myrtle Beach market will start picking up in a few weeks. It always does.
