South Africa take on Ireland on Saturday and the world champions have a
simple tactic - stick the ball up in the air, chase it, then crush and
destroy.

Add in the way Ireland played against Australia - even allowing for an
improvement against Fiji - and I'm not expecting an absolute belter of a
match.

I have to say I'm not sure how Ireland are going to play because
although new fly-half Jonathan Sexton is a bit of a like-for-like
replacement for Ronan O'Gara, he has the ability to run it a bit more.

However, I wonder whether his nerve is going to hold out, and whether he
will be able to get his backline moving?

With South Africa it's always route one but I'd love to see them try
something different.

They have a set pattern of play - kick, line of defence, squeeze, force
an error, kick, penalty - and I'm afraid it's a winning formula.

In their Tri-Nations match against Australia in Perth they went out
there and tested themselves to prove they could play a more creative,
attacking style - they ended up winning 32-25 and it was a fantastic
game of rugby.

But I think they are now exhausted after a long season and the idea of a
friendly, with nothing at stake, may not be overly appealing.

Their style of play is really tiring - I'm not sure people realise how
tiring it is but defence is harder because it is more physically
demanding.

If a team is going backwards and being battered it is harder physically
and mentally.

After that match has finished on BBC One, switch over to BBC Two where
we are at the Millennium Stadium for an intriguing encounter as Wales
face Australia.

It's been awhile since we've seen a phone as exciting as this. Announced as Idou in Barcelona, Spain last year, the Sony Ericsson Satio is loaded to the brim with features and is beautifully designed.
There's a whole lot of features bundled into the Satio. The large 3.5-inch resistive touchscreen on the front is packed with 360x640 pixels while the back has a hefty 12MP camera with 'tap to focus' that is powered by a Xenon flash. This 12MP camera has face detection, BestPic, support for Geotagging and Image stabilizer among other things. It can also record video in VGA resolution and there is an LED light for low light shooting. Shortcuts for accessing various features are conveniently located on its side.

Bottom Line
Excellent camera and rich list of features and a few misses, including the pricing.

After recent attacks on its size, power and profligacy we examine the
future of the BBC. How big should it be? How should it be funded and can
it survive in its current form?

Gavin has just returned from an interview with Director General Mark
Thompson, who today announced that the BBC is to consider whether or not
to close some of its digital television and radio services after the
analogue TV signal is switched off in 2012.

We will also be speaking to the Culture Secretary Ben Bradshaw and his
Conservative shadow, Jeremy Hunt.

Newsnight has commissioned an opinion poll which suggests that a
majority of people think there should be more transparency about the
salaries of the people working at the BBC - including the expenses and

USA Volleyball Contributes 6,850 Pounds of Food In NGB Food Drive Challenge

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (Nov. 25, 2009) - In the spirit of competition and the desire to help others in the community, several sports National Governing Bodies (NGBs) participated in a food drive to help stock shelves for the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday.

USA Luge won the "2009 Food Drive Throwdown" by collecting 16,803 pounds of food, which will impact hundreds of lives. The total sets a new standard of excellence in what has become an annual friendly food drive challenge among the NGBs and the United States Olympic Committee (USOC) community.

"It was fun and a lot of people got into the spirit of giving," said USA Luge CEO/Executive Director Ron Rossi in regards to his organization's efforts in the food drive. "While Lake Placid-proper has weathered the economic storm on a level similar to most locales, the immediate surrounding areas are another matter and are quite depressed. When we met with the Director of the Charities program here in Lake Placid, she said her numbers of people asking for help has never been higher, and in the run up to Thanksgiving, they had already emptied out their stock of items. They were extremely concerned about where they would get their next batch of supplies for the next few days and in the lead up into Christmas.....and then the Throwdown donation appeared."

"Congratulations, and thank you to everyone that contributed to this year's Food Drive Throwdown," said USA Volleyball Coordinator of Boys' and Men's Program Development/Collegiate & Scholastic Grant Administrator Jeff Mosher, who helped spearhead the food drive challenge. "However, not a single organization comes close to having such an impactful role in this challenge as USA Luge. As they prepare for Gold Medal results in Vancouver, its drive for success overflows into every challenge they face throughout their organization. Amazing awaits for USA Luge and for the recipients of their kind generosity. In true Olympic Spirit USA Luge will impact hundreds of people with their staggering contribution of 16,803 pounds of food."

USA Volleyball, the two-time defending champion of the food drive, collected a record amount for its organization with a donation equaling 6,850 pounds for second place.

"USA Volleyball not only challenged the other NGB's to the Food Drive Throwdown, but also issued the challenge to each of its 40 Regional Volleyball Associations throughout the country," Mosher said. "Many of these offices then passed the challenge on to the individual clubs. The impact of this simple food drive will literally touch thousands of lives this holiday season. It is a true testament of the thoughtful and caring spirits of all those involved in USA Volleyball. Many families will have a brighter holiday season because of the efforts of everyone involved in the Food Drive Throwdown. All of us here at USA Volleyball were proud to be a part of it."

USA Triathlon collected 1,935 pounds of food for the drive's bronze medal. USA Wrestling followed with 1,270 pounds of food. USA Table Tennis added 300 pounds of food donated to the St. Patrick's Food Pantry.
