Kickball Jesus went to The Chinati Foundation Open House in Marfa, Texas in 2007 to criticize to Bloated Ironic Internatonal Art Orgy that the Open House had become in recent years and raise issues on how this affected the community of Marfa. He subsequently landed himself and his issues on the front page of the Big Bend Sentinel Newspaper. I am happy to announce that The Open House is no more. The old format has been scrapped in favor of a more intimate gathering that pays due respect to the Actual Artworks...Hipsters go back to Austin, the "Spectacle" is over and Donald Judd can rest in Peace finally.

Dear Providence Psychogeographers,

As many of you all know the Kickball Jesus Project originated from a serious Heartbreak I went through in 2005 and while Kickball Jesus has been "About" many different issues in Art and Psychogeography over the course of his run there is one thing that has defined the meaning and character and that is the very nature of Heartbreak itself. At a certain point in the last year I began to realize that Kickball Jesus was the embodiment in performance of a very deep seated hurt stemming from several different romantic disasters that took place over the last few years and was becoming aware of this performance as an acting out and also almost as a "Defense Mechanism" on my part useful for keeping anyone from getting too close to my heart at bay and keeping it guarded, in addition to using Kickball Jesus as a soapbox for various Arts related issues that I am passionate about.

During most of the last few years Kickball Jesus as an artistic statement was valid and sincere in the expression and sublimation of these various energies as an attempt on my part to work through my Romantic issues but I am afraid I have reached the point where Kickball Jesus is indeed crossing over into ironic territories and this is where I promised myself I would end it. And the reason for this is that I fell in Love. Someone called me on this with such brutal honesty and saw this hurt and made a commitment to me that they would take care of my heart and do a smashing job at it and so I opened up something that I forgot was even there anymore.

So the beer swilling, swearing, flirting, cynical, jaded and ironic Kickball Jesus is Dead and now it becomes more clear to me when I even attempt it that that persona is fading into black and a new one who is whole and happy and in Love is in the process of emerging.

I will still be in Manchester getting pissed off at Psychogeography Festivals that charge $400 entrance fees and Psychogeographers that in my humble opinion practice Artistic elitism...but following the Provflux V Lovers vs. Heartbreakers Kickball Game I will be throwing in the sheet, setting it on fire and taking everyone I know and Love in Providence out for "The Last Supper" with Kickball Jesus.

Kickball Jesus chose Love, Sincerity, and Truth over Heartbreak, Hurt and Irony and this is what I wish to be the Final Legacy of The Kickball Jesus Project.

Thank You Providence for supporting me all along...I Love you all. The Beauty and Creativity I have found among the People of PIPS have truly helped in the process of Healing my Heart and I am forever indebted to supporting you all in your creative endeavors.

Once upon a time, a wanderer traveled far and wide across the deserts in search of enlightenment. One day he came upon an imaginary town. A town called Providence. It only existed in this wanderer's mind sort of like a Mirage or a Utopia. But in this Utopia he found a tribe where everyone created some of the most Beautiful Art ever to exist...only it was never recorded for it existed only in their imaginations and in the most negligible manner possible rather in any other tangible sense in this world. By coming together and collaborating they realized that human experiences in and of themselves were more important collectively for what they added up to than any one individual human beings experiences or creations here. This was a most spiritual discovery for those that came together in this brief moment in History that this tribal collective existed. For they discovered that Art and the Creative Force was not confined to mere objects at all that it was more like an energy that flowed through everything and blossomed in every mundane experience of life. This wanderer knew that this kind of knowledge that had been lost for many moons was being rediscovered by this tribe but would not last for long for it is not truly the domain of this world. But every so often in History magic makes it to the other side and enters in here, the magic of creation based on the interconnectedness of us all and what we are all making together and we don't need to inscribe it in stone, use it to celebrate the self or the ego or write books about it or make it last forever for future generations...we need only to come together in these brief moments and express to each other this magic that lies and lives on forever in our imaginations in a brief moment in time...The moment where we fully realize that each moment where we fully express ourselves in a pure manner is the most beautiful moment of all...and is ephemeral here but lasts on forever in our imagination, our soul and in the realms beyond our imagination altogether which we will all inevitably someday return to...

Between June 19 and 22, 2008, TRIP brings together artists, academics, movers, shakers, do-ers and dissenters in a unique event combining an interdisciplinary conference with a city-wide series of actions, exhibitions, and screenings. TRIP enables the previously separate worlds of theory and practice to interact, initiating new approaches and energies, and furthering techniques to take on and alter the physical environment.

Beginning as a reaction to the industrial revolution, the re-imagining of the city by romantics, bohemians, and avant-gardists evolved into a diverse range of strategies, practices and arguments, from the psychogeographic drift or derive to the artistic intervention. By the 1990s these were being utilised by artists, writers, activists, and historians, attempting to negotiate urban and rural space in the post-modern world.

But practices developed in the twentieth century encounter a different world in the twenty first - a more observed and policed world on the one hand, a more corporate, globally-connected world on the other. Increasingly the body, social, individual and political, is the site of contradictory demands - the demands to consume versus the demands of control.

TRIP will be based at Manchester Metropolitan University, on the city's main southerly corridor, Oxford Road. But we want events to take place throughout Manchester, in as wide a variety of spaces and venues as possible. Like many northern cities, Manchester is changing fast. Perhaps you want to critique the implications of "regeneration", or perhaps you want to stimulate new ways of engaging with an increasingly consumerised environment. Maybe you're passionate about the possibilities of inventive walking and drifting, or maybe you're a performance artist aiming to change the energy of a public space. Wherever you're coming from, TRIP wants to hear from you with your ideas.

To submit a paper, you should send an abstract outlining your subject and the key points of your presentation.

To submit an idea for an intervention, performance or a walk involving members of the public, please outline in one paragraph the aims and ideal locations for your project.

To submit an idea for a gallery-based project, please outline in one paragraph the thinking behind your installation or work..

Please try to keep your paragraphs to a maximum of 200 words. And don't forget your contact details. Deadline for submissions: December 22nd 2007.
