I've been playing around with maany settings and functions, starting with the Linpus O/S that comes pre-installed.

To start off with, the Linpus O/S looks very limited but very easy to use. Large desktop icons set into groups such as Internet, Work, etc. It also has a Settings tab which has basic info for WiFi Settings and the like. By reading some of the forums, you can expand this quite a bit, if you press Alt+F2 it brings up a "run" command which you can enter various things, run programs, and enable further settings, including opening the desktops 'right click' menu, yay. Although useful, it still didn't feel enough like a real laptop for myself - still, friendly and easy to use for most people.

After playing with Linpus, I looked into different Opserating Systems that work with the Acer Aspire One, most it seems. Ubuntu and Fedora 10 are just 2 Linux varients with plenty of support and install guides. It seems that many Operating Systems, including Mac OS X surprisingly, and Windows Vista / XP all install on the Acer Aspire One. My choice has been Windows XP.

XP installed quite harmlessly from an External DVD Drive, however most guides recomment using a USB Flash Stick. It does have a few teething problems, it doesn't like the Solid State Drive for one, but by disabling a few bits and peices, that was easy to overcome. It's now running quite smoothly even with Windows XP SP3, Windows Live Messenger, VLC and V-Lite Kodec packs. Surprisingly, it is even running Adobe Photoshop CS2 and Macromedia Dreamweaver 8 - sweet!

Anyway, now this is setup how I like it...
Back to working on my photography site :)

Oh, I have also brought an 8GB SD Card to double the netbooks storage, as the 8GB SSD is a little limiting when it has everything installed. 1.2gb free after software installs, so the 8gb SD card (only cost £12) will be nice for file storage. I've also added a tiny Bluetooth module (again, USB, costing under £10) so my Acer netbook is now also Bluetooth enabled :)

Well, that's it for now.
Barefoot Will.

Barefoot Willhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05116779426800013756will@barefoot-photography.co.uk0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4708071777976332045.post-34712722349510729702009-01-19T18:08:00.002Z2009-01-19T18:13:32.639ZAcer Aspire OneWell, I've recently started to re-design my Barefoot Photography site, not a major re-design, just a little re-vamp with code, so it will be set back SLIGHTLY further. So, along with the current re-development, I have also took the time to buy an Acer Aspire One. 8.9" Acer Netbook sporting an 8Gb Solid State HDD, 512mb Ram, and the very user-friendly cut down Linux O/S that is on many netbooks.

Although very user-friendly, I do like having a little more control over my system, so just starting to update the system to Fedora 10. So, I'll keep you up to date.

Barefoot Will.

Barefoot Willhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05116779426800013756will@barefoot-photography.co.uk0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4708071777976332045.post-40631912916623497152008-12-28T19:19:00.003Z2008-12-28T19:22:17.149ZBarefoot Photography - Facing DelaysWell, I was hoping to have a great deal more done to the site by now, but, currently I haven't had much chance to get it completed. As usual, work has found ways to get in the way of my photography, and with it being Christmas as well that has meant putting in the over time. Although I do enjoy Christmas to some extent, working in retail does mean that the majority of it is spent... Well, at work :(

I'm going to be off work for a few days over the start of the New Year, hopefully it will give me a chance to get a little more up-to-date with the site and get everything kicked off to a start.

Well, that is all for me,
Laters,
Barefoot Will.

Barefoot Willhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05116779426800013756will@barefoot-photography.co.uk0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4708071777976332045.post-60661316628403650142008-04-16T22:25:00.002+01:002008-04-16T22:31:19.094+01:002006 CompletedWell, it's taken longer than I expected, been caught up with a lot of things at work lately, and having more going on in my social life, so it's left less time to get photos done. But, everything should now be up to date to the end of 2006. The newer photography, everything taken in '07 and that has already been taken this year will no doubt take much more time to go through, and this is more by my own choice than anything else.

Now that the older photography has been updated, I'm going to be starting more work on my new professional photography site, and a lot of the photography from 2007 will be featured on the site. As I'll be designing the new site from scratch, it's going to be a good couple of months before much of it is online, especially as I intent to be working on other projects at the same time.

So, until the next update, hope you all enjoy the photos on this blog,
_____________
Barefoot Will

Barefoot Willhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05116779426800013756will@barefoot-photography.co.uk0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4708071777976332045.post-5337202344186660322008-04-16T13:29:00.003+01:002008-08-27T21:47:35.384+01:00Whitecliff
This photo was taken mainly by chance whilst setting up my camera at Whitecliff to take photos of the fireworks display at Poole Quay. I have gone through quite a few, updating bits and pieces as I go, deleting various old photos, creating more up-to-date backups and the like.

Hopefully you all like at least some of the latest posts that have been added here. I'm now up to all my photography from 2006, so the next uploads you may notice a slight difference in the style of photography! You may also notice a decline of portrait style work, and an increase of landscapes, seascapes and nature photography being added!

That is all for tonight,
Barefoot Will.

Barefoot Willhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05116779426800013756will@barefoot-photography.co.uk0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4708071777976332045.post-36445088023435264152008-03-31T20:56:00.005+01:002008-08-27T21:53:47.274+01:00Camilla - The Devils Horsemen

These two photos were taken of Camilla, the youngest show rider of The Devils Horsemen when she was performing live at The New Forest Show, 2005.

Barefoot Willhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05116779426800013756will@barefoot-photography.co.uk0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4708071777976332045.post-84969580634035682952008-03-25T22:28:00.005Z2008-08-27T21:54:48.235+01:00Helen and her Horses '05

The following two photos were taken of my ex-girlfriend, Helen, with her horse, Monty.
