(maybe I shouldn't have used the word 'breaking'?...)

Speedy recovery, Jo xJoanne & Karenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09067522376577617799noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4700329569200755337.post-1185368499044696162008-02-14T08:50:00.000-08:002008-02-14T08:51:34.013-08:00Training Underway!Karen writes:

I did a 2.98 mile cycle yesterday ... won't tell you how many times I had to stop... why is it so hilly here?!

Today I thought I could get out of it, it was drizzling all day, but at 4pm I looked out the window and it was brightening up. Pooey!

So I got my bike out, adjusted the saddle height, as it wasn't quite right yesterday... not that it made any difference to my peddling and botty still sore !! Did just over 3 miles today.

65 miles.. oh dearie me...

Can I have a rest tomorrow?Joanne & Karenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09067522376577617799noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4700329569200755337.post-75773215256969759152008-02-10T07:29:00.000-08:002008-02-10T08:01:50.696-08:00Welcome!Karen writes:

Hi, I thought I would get things moving with this blog - Joanne doesn't know I've started one yet!

It's now mid-February and neither of us have been out on our brand, spanking new bikes, I am ashamed to say.

The forecast for the week is looking fine, so I will try and be good and test out the lovely bike Santa bought me for Christmas. I know that once I get on mine, Joanne will soon be out on hers - won't you, Jo?!

65 miles... what are we letting ourselves in for? The furthest I've cycled is 35 miles when I was fit and cycled everywhere and even then I couldn't walk for a few days afterwards. Joanne tells me she's not been on a bike since she was a teenager. doh!

My other half keeps telling me we have to start some serious training if we are going to do this - man talk. I just shrug and reply 'yes, whatever dear!' but deep down I know he's right.

To date, we haven't yet decided what cause we shall be cycling for or what date it will be. We are organised people really! I have to buy a cycling helmet now, and some cycling shorts that won't cut off the circulation to my legs.

I've just read on the official Speyside Way website that "because of recent flood damage the Speyside Way is no longer passable - indeed it no longer exists - for a section between Spey Bay and Fochabers." !

How did the cycle idea come about? Last year Joanne did a big fund raising push for a 6-month old golden retriever called Tamba rescued by Many Tears Rescue in Wales. The poor dog needed operations on bad hips and knee joints, he couldn't walk and only managed to crawl along the ground. The cycle was going to be to raise funds for him but - at the time of writing - he doesn't need anymore operations and will be assessed again at 18 months old to see if he will require further surgery.

Whoever we cycle for, we know it will be worth the pain and effort, if we get to help dogs in some way.
Joanne & Karenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09067522376577617799noreply@blogger.com
