There ...I would recommend still planning your trip. There are no glaciers on this route. It is a long steep hike on a broad back ridge. I'd still recommend bringing an ice axe and crampons for the just incase scenario. i.e. getting off route, etc...Most people do this climb in 2 days. Hike in to bascamp at 8600' and start the climb around 1-2 a.m. Basecamp is the only location to get water. Postholing was occuring at the snowfield right below the summit plateau. A good idea if time permits is to stop by the Mt. Shasta Ranger Station and check out the power point.
