Summer Weather

I was about to complain about it being July, and the weather being... well, not July weather. When I left the house this morning, I was wearing jeans, shoes, and a hoodie. As much as I love my hoodies and sweaters, they should be illegal for the month of July. Hell, for the whole summer really. It also doesn't help that the office has the air conditioner on crazy high.

Anyway, I went to sit on the patio for lunch today. It was sunny and beautiful outside. I was out there for about 45 minutes or so. I would've stayed longer, but I started getting really hot and sweaty. (Not the B.O. type of sweaty). So when I got back inside, I went to the washroom and noticed that I had gotten a tan! I wasn't even facing the sun either.

So this isn't really going anywhere. It was just got hot in the afternoon.

Will this be the BEST SUMMER EVER?

Is it bad that I'm counting this summer to be the best summer ever? 2007 was pretty fun. That was the year I met John, and went white water rafting, and went to a cottage. It was a good summer overall. I'm thinking that this year will be great, and here are the reasons why:

* It started off with concerts, and they were all amazing! I saw Billy Joel and Elton John at the end of May, and then No Doubt in June (I haven't blogged about that one yet. I'll get to it soon), and then the Tragically Hip with Sam Roberts.

* There are more concerts to come - Coldplay, Osheaga Festival in Montreal, Rx Bandits, Jason Mraz, Pearl Jam, and Weezer (opening for Blink-182)

* July will be a busy month since I'll have something going on pretty much every weekend. Next weekend I'm going to John's family reunion. That's always a fun time with a baseball game. Then there's a wedding the following weekend, then it's my birthday, then John's cousins from BC are coming down, then it's off to Montreal!

* I plan on quitting Swiss Chalet for the 3rd and final time this coming Sunday. I always have good summers when I'm not at Swiss Chalet... I guess that last time I wasn't working there was in 2007! That explains a lot.

It just seems like there is a lot happening this summer, and a lot to look forward to. Should this beat summer 2007? I THINK SO!

MY CAR!

I finally did it! I went out and bought a car on my own. I got a 2009 Nissan Versa Hatchback. It's supposed to be one of those fuel economy cars. At least I think it is anyway. Now, I'm just thinking about the freedom I'm finally going to have on weekends! I don't need to rely on anyone to take me to work anymore or waiting there for someone to come get me. It's like having my independence. It's nice. Well, although it's MY car, I'm sharing it with my dad. He drives it during the week since I commute anyway to work.

This is a boring entry. It's hot outside, but freezing in my office. I have a headache. That is all.

Goals

I was just on that 43things website (I didn't sign up) where you list your 43 life goals or something of that sort. I decided that I would list as many goals as I can. I'll try to make them realistic too and not something ridiculous like "Go on a world tour with my band". But before I start, I just wanted to mention that I'm eating salad, and I just had the biggest wedge of tomato ever!

Okay, goals in no particular order:

- Join a martial arts class. I feel the urge to get my dukes back up.

- Go to the Philippines. I have been so reluctant to because of the bugs and lizards crawling EVERYWHERE.

- Travel to Europe

- Get a passport first!

- Write an amazing song with guitar solos and piano parts and great lyrics

- Get a car before the end of this year

- Buy a decent house

- Bring lunches to work 4 out of 5 days of the week

- One day do one of those bike marathons like Ride for Heart or something like that

- Zipline! I want to go on a zipline.

- Learn how to cook and bake

Blue Jays - Red Sox Series

This isn't normal of me, but I actually watched a full baseball series on TV. It was Jays vs. Red Sox. Sadly, the Sox swept the Jays. I just have a few observations about tonight's game in particular. The Umpires were completely on Boston's side. There were a number of pitches that were technically balls, but the ump called them as strikes. And when the Jays players tried to argue the call, the commentators, clearly Boston fans, were saying that he should just kick the players out for arguing. It was stupid. There was a play in the game when the Sox were at bat. I think his name was Lugo or something. He made a base hit, which Scutaro got and threw the ball to Millar to get him out. Apparently Millar didn't make the catch properly and Lugo was safe. After the slow motion recap, Millar's foot was on the bag, and Lugo didn't even touch the bag but ran over it! HOW WAS HE SAFE! Even Scutaro couldn't believe it. I saw his reaction. I found it unfair.

Anyway, I always go to tsn.ca for updates and articles. There is already an article of the Sox sweeping the Jays. Some of the comments that I'm reading from people kinda suck. I mean, this is the first sweep that the Jays had all season. Some people don't think that they can keep up with the BoSox or the Yankees and that this is where it ends for the Jays. I like to think things differently. They are already a different team from last year. You could see it with the way they hit, and even after all the games they've won. So they may have not been playing top-rated teams for a while, but they are capable of winning. Last year, they always seemed to win against these teams. This was just ONE series. Next weekend, they will be taking on the BoSox again. I will be at two of the three games, and they will show all those haters out there who have no faith in this team.

i'm starting to sound like a fanatic. Yeah, I need to do something with my spare time. I'm going to sleep. Oh, but before I go, I'm going to side track for a second. While I was watching the game, a blue jay flew right by my window and sat on a pot in my backyard. It was crazy! Anywho...

Marco Scutaro and Aaron Hill Celebrate

I love the Blue Jays and baseball in general. They have become a summer obsession for me. I've gone to 3 games so far this season, and planning many more! Last year I made it out to 9 games, but they only won 2. This year the Jays are hot! From the 3 games that I have gone to, they have won all 3!

I will take the moment to mention my top 3 players:

1) Aaron Hill - I remember him being out for most of last year's season from his concussion. Well he's back, and likes to hit those home runs! Does anyone remember those "Born to Play" baseball commercials when they showed the Jays as children? I remember Aaron Hill's. (kid) Aaron was fishing with his dad and his dad was showing him how to draw his line. Aaron swings and gets his really far. Anyway, after lots of unsuccessful youtube searching, I finally found the video here.

2) Marco Scutaro - I like the plays that Marco does. He's a pretty small guy (well compared to the rest at 5'9), but he can sure hit and make nice catches with his glove. I also noticed that he seems to smile a lot when he plays baseball. He's cool despite his "Gasolina" intro song haha.

3) And of course, Roy Halladay. I think he's EVERYONE'S favourite. He's the best pitcher in the league. I think he also won the Player of the Week Award (or something along those lines) last week. Oh yeah! He also had a "Born to Play" commerical too. So did Alex Rios. I have to find them.

I feel like writing a song, but I don't have words. I really have no clue what I should write about. My imagination needs to wander...more. Maybe I should write about a dream, but I don't want it to sound cheesy. I'm not feeling creative in any aspect.

Now a sidetrack thought. I decided to cover Sam Cooke's "A Change is Gonna Come". I had no idea that Gavin DeGraw does a good cover of it. Seriously. I still think I prefer Seal's version though, although NO ONE is ever going to come close to Sam Cooke. I don't care how good of a singer you are.

As I have probably mentioned in the past, I'm a BIIIGGGG fan of Liam Finn. I know that I have a separate music blog, but the reality is, I don't remember my password so I'm writing here. Anyway, I saw this video a long while ago and never thought about embedding it into the blog before, so I'm doing it now.

Here is Liam Finn and EJ on David Letterman singing "Second Chance". It's probably my favourite song by him although I've been playing a lot "Better To Be" on guitar.

Vehicles!

Recently, me and my dad have been looking at cars to buy since I can't drive his car. It'll mostly be my own, but we'll share it. I'm really into hatchbacks for some reason. Right now we haven't decided on what we're going to get, but here is the list of what we've been looking at lately.

2009 Nissan Versa Hatchback - It's a bit small, but it's not too small. The price is fairly decent as well after adding options, air conditioning, and automatic transmission. Recently in the paper, there was an article about small cars being poor in safety. I pretty much knew this already, but there were head-on collision tests done with cars going at 65km/h, and the results weren't great. This was for the Toyota Yaris, Honda Fit, and that Smart Car. Anyway, I'm going off topic. I like the Nissan Versa.

2009 Suzuki SX4 Hatchback - This car isn't the greatest looking, but It has everything I want and need in a car. Plus, I think it'd be great for snowboarding...

2010 Mazda 3 Sport - Slick looking car!!! I love it! It just costs more than what I want to spend for a car. Honestly, compare the 2009 to the 2010. It might be worth the extra money.

2010 Toyota Matrix - This car looks almost as nice as the Mazda 3 Sport Hatchback. Again, the price is a bit more than I'd like to spend, but we'll see.

I guess that we need to look around and test drive them all before deciding. Hmm Decisions!

Long-time no blog!

Geeze! Well it's been a while since I've graced the blog world with my presence. Nothing new here except that I went to B.C. in March. That was a fantastic trip. I got to go snowboarding on Mount Washington and Whistler/Blackcomb! I'm telling you, it's a totally different experience being on a mountain when being used to going on little hills here in Ontario. I really don't have much else to say. No thoughts at this exact moment about stuff happening except that I'm going to sleep. I promise, more insightful updates... hopefully! Oh! I (kinda) made design changes to the blog. YAY

55 Days

In 55 days, I will be on a plane to BC! I will be going for nine days, and it's going to be busy. I wish I could be staying longer though.
So far, my trip is as follows:
- Toronto to Vancouver to Nanaimo - Stay in Nanaimo for three days
- Nanaimo to Courtney - Do some boarding at Mount Washington/hang out with Jess
- Courtney to Vancouver - Watch Denny speed skate, hang out with Ang
- Vancouver to Whistler - go boarding at Blackcomb probably
- Whistler to Vancouver
- Leave Vancouver at 7:00am
- Back to Toronto
- Back to work the next morning.
How we're going to fit all these activities in 9 days is beyond me. All I know is that I can't wait! The last time I went to BC, I was with a bunch of adults and was bored. This time it's going to be different. Finally something to look forward to!

Happy New Year everybody!

I think I'm going to reflect on 2008 because I never really have at all. I would say that it was a decent year for me. Here are some of the highlights:

JANUARY - First time going snowboarding, and now it's something I adore!

FEBRUARY - First time going to a Raptors game since their first season!

MARCH - Interned at MuchMusic. Cool experience

APRIL - Graduated from Humber with honours

MAY - First "professional" job. I hated it

JUNE - Gone camping up in Brighton and saw the Tragically Hip/Worked at the MMVA's

JULY - My 24th Birthday and started new job at CHUM

AUGUST - The start of NotCous!

SEPTEMBER - PLAYING ON STAGE WITH WEEZER!!!!!!

OCTOBER - First Leaf game of the season

NOVEMBER - First time to Ottawa. Good times.

DECEMBER - Went snowboarding three times that month and got my LesPaul!

I would think that the most memorable moment of 2008, by far, is playing on stage with Weezer. Need to know why? Read the blog when I blogged about it in October.

Now it's 2009, a start of a new chapter. I started off the year with pneumonia. I say that it can only get better from here.

For Christmas this year, all I wanted was an electric guitar. Not just any electric guitar, but an Epiphone LesPaul. I definitely can't afford a Gibson one, nor am I a pro guitar player, so I figured that it would suffice. It's not that I was really settling for an Epiphone or anything, I actually do like it.

This year, my dad and John both pitched in to buy me the guitar. Of course I went out and picked it out myself and played it. The only problem is, it's not Christmas yet, and I'm playing it ALL THE TIME! The amp that I bought is superb. I just need the strength to wrap it and save it for Christmas.

Oh! and of course I named the guitar. His name is Sir LesPaul McCartney. That is right.

Dear GO Train Riders

I really dislike the Go Train. The only reason why I take it is so that I don't get home at 8 at night when I finish work at 5 - 5:30.
Here is my rant:

I am so annoyed with the amount of inconsiderate assholes who ride the GO Train, especially on the Milton Line.
First, boarding the train. I take the train home everyday so I know what to expect. The trains are always full. There is not enough sitting room for everybody, so people are forced to stand or sit on the steps even though it could be considered a hazzard. This goes out to the girl who was saving two seats for her friends on the train. If it's a busy train during rush hour, you can't save seats. If people get on the train before your friends do, well that's too bad for them. I give a big kudos to the man who told her that she can't save seats.

Another thing about boarding the train. I understand that when it's raining outside you don't want to get wet. But PLEASE don't stand in the stairwell where people are trying to get by! And as soon as the train comes, don't push your way to the front of the pack. This one time, I stood out in the rain, because it's harmless. As soon as some people saw the train coming, they ran out of the shelters and stairwells and pushed their way to the front, where I was standing. Some rude and inconsiderate woman went in front of me, and as she was getting on to the train, shook her umbrella behind her. Of course all of the water on her umbrella went on me. Thanks bitch.

To the people who force their way through without saying "excuse me". This morning I took the train into work and was standing on the upper deck. Some girl walks from one end of the cart and pushes her way through, thus pushing me out of the way so that she can get a comfortable seat on the steps. Did she say "excuse me"? No she did not. Did she bother to move her bag out of the way so that people, including myself, wouldn't get hit by it? No she did not. She just rushed to the steps so that she could sit her lazy ass down.

Getting off the train: There is a reason why I wait to be the last person to get off the train. First of all, I don't want to get trampled. Something that REALLY annoys me is people getting off the train and running to the tunnels and sprinting to their cars so that they can escape the traffic of leaving the station. Well sorry, but you're not the only person that wants to get home. Honestly, I wouldn't care if on one of these days, those running bastards trip on the staircase or on the platform. I know it's harsh, but they don't have manners. They are the type of people who push their way to the front all the time. I really don't think they care about the safety of others. Not only am I the last person to get off the train (in the cart I'm in), I also wait until I'm the last person to get into the tunnel so that I don't have to deal with those fuckers. (Excuse my language, I'm annoyed).

Leaving the parking lot/station: I have noticed more of this lately. More and more people are not following the road signs. It seems to me like a lot of these people need to go back to driving school. WHEN YOU SEE A RED SIGN THAT SAYS STOP, YOU HAVE TO STOP! This one asshole had a stop sign, and my mom didn't. (She was driving). He basically forced his way in, which made my mom break suddenly. He gave this 'what the hell are you doing?' look to my mom as if he was right to cut us off.

Honestly, if I could just punch or tell off people I would. My problem is that I'm a pushover, and would not do anything to cause trouble. Now, I feel like I'm at a breaking point, and this commuting is making me go crazy. So please people, for the safety and sanity of myself and others, learn some fucking public transit etiquette.

The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly.

Recently there have been some good and bad stuff happening. I'll start on a high note, the good:

- I have been able to fit in lots of jam time, which is always good! Last night we recorded four videos. So far, just one is up on youtube.

- This morning when I walked into work, I met PATTIE BOYD! If you don't know who she is, go look her up.

- I also got free tickets to see Chris Cornell for tomorrow night!

- I'm going to Ottawa this weekend

- It's snowing! Snow = snowboarding

The bad:

- Job status = currently employed, but the future is unknown. Thank you failing economy!

- If I happen to lose my job that means that I don't get my LesPaul. If I don't get my LesPaul, I'll be one miserable girl. I won't be able to pay for my RRSPs and GICs and my laptop and all other expenses.

So here's a plea to the economy. SHAPE UP PLEASE! I NEED MY JOB.

Two posts in one day, and within the hour! I either have a lot to talk about, or just bored. I think it's more of the latter.

So as we know, Christmas is coming up! I know that I'm excited. I already made a list of things to buy my closest peeps, as well as my own list for the half-breed Kris Kringle that we have every year. Of course Christmas is not only about the gifts, but I do enjoy getting things for the people I love.

Next item, big purchases!

I finally got my snowboard with bindings and boots! I'm so ready for snow to come so that I can go out and play!

I bought a plane ticket to Ottawa for a weekend coming up! Driving a lame and takes too long.

Next on the list, would be my LesPaul. He's waiting for me in Long and McQuade. I held him about 2 months ago. I should probably stop by and visit before my heart gets broken because some 15 year old punk kidnapped him from me.

I was thinking of getting an SLR camera, but I'm not sure how necessary that would be for me right now. It would be good to have when I go on trips... Definitely planning those!

And finally, as mentioned earlier, I want a Mac. I'm sick of PCs ruining my life, and lets not forget the cool shit that could be done with Macs.

I wish that I won some kind of monetary prize. Even $10,000.00 would be good just to satisfy my greedy needy purchases.

Designing on Hold... AGAIN

Just when I was starting to kind of come up with a design for my site, I can't go on. Not because of design fart as mentioned before... well it's not as much as a factor this time, but because of the damn Creative Suite.

At the current moment, I am without any kind of Creative Suite. Recently I was given Adobe Web Premium CS4 from Awards Night at Humber. I was told to remove whatever CS3 software I had because it would screw everything up. So, as instructed I removed all of my CS3. Whilst installing the CS4, well let's just say that I'm having issues and it's taken two days so far. Here's to hoping that tonight it'll work. I let it install last night when I went to sleep because I refused to wait another two hours. I will see when I get home.

But yeah, anyway my desktop computer is busted and I'm both lazy and cheap to do anything about it.

Computers (well, PCs) are evil. When the opportunity comes, I'm investing in a Mac.

Design Fart!

I am sitting in front of a computer and trying to come up with a design for my website. Of course when I start something, I don't like it. I mean, the concept is there, it's just the outcome that looks like ass. I am living with a condition. This condition is "Design Fart". This has been happening to me since high school! Well, I wouldn't say that design fart has been happening since then, because I wasn't much of an "artistic student" besides my photography in OAC. But by then, I was already 18. I'm going off topic here... Okay, well yeah. Since high school, especially for presentations and projects, I'd have these sick ideas, but I could never showcase them. I didn't know how to. That is what is happening to me now! I wonder if it's just lack of motivation, or not having the right tools for what I want to do, or if I'm just not good enough. Who knows. Maybe I'll be able to create that look that I want, and I'll stop being gassy in the design world.

Going completely off topic now, I'm voting today! You should too.

Another topic, the mysterious jam sessions have been quite a success. Would you believe me if I said that our jam sessions are up on the internet? Well they are. Not the whole sesh obviously, but certain made up songs are! This was just in a span of 24 hours. Do not ask to hear it though, because I think that we should work our stuff and make it sound better. Y'know, a little finess and more song writing.

Weezer Hootenanny!

It's Wednesday, and I'm back! So last night was the Weezer concert at the ACC. It was my third time seeing them, and it was their best performance yet! Rivers Coumo has changed so much as a stage-man, and wow. He's just out there! I remember in 2002, the first time I saw them, he was very quiet and stayed in one spot. I remember him taking off his jacket and the crowd started cheering. Then he says into the mic, "You guys are retarded. It's just a jacket". This time around, he was going around the stage and interacting with the audience. It was so great. I love him. I love them!

Anyway, I was a part of their Hootenanny. Before the show all 30 people participating were brought to a room to practice our songs. At first I thought that we were only playing one song, Island in the Sun, but we were told that we're playing Beverly Hills as well. As a group we practiced the 2 songs, and it sounded so good! I was expecting the band to come in for the rehearsal, but they didn't. It's all good though. I don't think I would've been able to handle it.

When it was time to go on, it was the only time we saw the band. Pat, Scott and Brian were a bit further back, but Rivers was standing in the hallway where we were walking. It was nice. When we got on stage, the reception from the crowd was nuts! Everyone was cheering. Weezer eventally came back onto stage with us and called us superfans who look crazy. We went into Island in the Sun where the accordian player did a sweet solo. When it was done, we went straight into Beverly Hills. Me and this other girl were in charge of the "gimme gimme!" in the song. I don't know if we were really heard. It was sick though. When we were done, we got off stage. It was so cool to hear the crowd chant "more cowbell! more cowbell!" - Barry Taylor from The Edge was playing the cowbell. This is definitely an experience that I will never forget. I'm just so happy that I got this chance. Weezer was my first favourite rock band, and they were also my first rock concert.

Just so awesome!

Not too long ago, I had randomly entered a contest for the "Ultimate Weezer Experience". And behold, I WON! Well, I'm one of 5 winners, but who cares? You know what this means? I (+ a guest, and the other 4 winners with their guests) gets to go on stage and play a song with Weezer! So next Tuesday, I will get to play Island in the Sun on guitar in front of a crowd at the Air Canada Centre with one of my all-time favourite bands! How cool is that? Not only that, we get side-stage passes, plus other stuff. Oh man. I am very excited, but I haven't let the ultra excitement go through just yet. I'll save that for next week. Anyway, an update will appear probably next Wednesday. =w=!

At work, it's the beginning of the "new year". That means holidays are reset. As of today, I have 15 vacation days. I'm still wondering if I'm elegible for it yet. I've been here for about 2 months and still have 4 months left on my probation. I was told that I could take it, so we'll see. If so, BC here I come!

Anyway, since this is a new fiscal year, I'm making some changes. I don't know if I would call them resolutions. Anyway, my wonderful short list.

- Create a budget (I want to go to BC and NYC and eventually move out!)
- Bring lunches more often
- Take stretchy breaks every hour... umm it's time for a stretchy break now.
- I WAS going to lay off going on facebook, but I failed.

Well yeah, I think that's just about it!

Exciting Stuff!

Myself and two others are starting/working on a project. I'm really excited for it. The domain name was bought a while back, probably in May, but we got lazy and didn't do anything with it. We went out for dinner last night and were talking about all of the things that we can do for it. Now we are getting our asses in gear and finally starting something! We're choosing colour schemes for our website, which the two of us will design and work on. I got a blog for it yesterday and started working on a banner. More ideas are brewing as we speak. What is the project you ask? I'm not telling... Not yet, anyway.

While all of that stuff is in the process, I've FINALLY starting thinking of a design for my website. My domain name is about to expire, so I should renew that soon. But with the renewal, I want a new site as well. Something fresh. I'm also going to attempt to write some songs. Every time I start, I never finish. And I also never really come up with lyrics either.

I think it's time that I REALLY start saving money. There are a few big purchases that I will make in the very near future. (Want to get a snowboard/binding/boots/pants/jacket, electric guitar with an amp, and an SLR camera). I guess that I'll be spending a lot of time at home. It's not all that bad though. That's when I can start to get creative... or lazy.

I don't think that anyone reads my blog. Oh well, I don't really care. So I haven't written here in a while except for updating the 2008 concerts that I've been to. What's new with me you ask? Well...
- I got a new job, one that I like
- I stopped going to the gym because I'm (un)healthy like that
- I started a photoblog the other day because I was bored
- I got Weezer tickets! Well, I got pre-sale tickets on Friday morning and got seats in the 100 (107) section. I was curious this morning to see what kind of tickets I could get for general sales and ended up with floor tickets. Obviously I bought the floor tickets and now I have to get rid of 2 tickets. Going to see them for the 3rd time
- I saw Rod Stewart tonight. Check Concerts 2008 blog
- Thinking about moving downtown Toronto in the near future
- Thinking/planning a trip to BC for October
- I really need to finish my website... or start a new one!
