Here is video in two parts of former House Speaker Newt Gingrich tonight talking with Greta Van Susteren about the abject failure of the Democrats' Stimulus policy. Gingrich explains with great clarity that President Obama and his team were so full of themselves (my way of saying it) that they thought they could do whatever they wanted. Gingrich believes the first stimulus was actually a huge Democrat payoff to state and local governments so they would not have to make hard decisions. So, in actuality, the $787 Billion Stimulus Package was no stimulus at all.

But now their approach is not working, and he feels they are dangerously close to trapping America in situation where we could face 8-11% unemployment for a decade. He also discusses Obama's huge list of Czars, and the controversy over whether or not the CIA misled members of Congress in briefings.

Here is video of Fox News' Stuart Varney having a heated debate with liberal Democrat Congressman Chaka Fattah of Pennsylvania today on the Neil Cavuto Show. Varney confronted Fattah over the Obama Administration's use of Stimulus and Bailout funds to essentially buy votes in congressional districts. Fattah repeatedly attacked Fox News in the interview, saying "I know you all at Fox are used to talking to each other" without an opposing viewpoint. Varney would not let him get by however with the notion the stimulus money was being well-used. Varney called "immoral" the Democrats use of the funds to make a whole class of people "wards of the state," entirely dependent on the Federal Government.

Varney has hit on exactly what the Democrats and Obama are trying to do. They want to create enough people who are totally dependent on the Federal Government so that those folks will always vote Democrat and keep them in power.

Kudos Stuart Varney is one of the best at holding the Democrats' feet to the fire and telling the truth plainly.

Democrats Back Off Cap and Trade Bill; Postpone Senate Action Until September

Opponents of President Obama's "Cap and Trade" Legislation have won a temporary victory today as the U.S. Senate Environment and Public Works Committee backed off on pushing the bill forward this summer. In fact, Chairwoman Barbara Boxer said it would not be taken up by the Senate until September. This about face by Boxer, who had set a deadline of early August to complete work on the bill, is undoubtedly a result of strong opposition from the American people, the announcement by Democrat Robert Byrd that he will oppose the bill, and falling poll numbers for President Obama:

President Barack Obama's push for quick action by Congress on climate change legislation suffered a setback on Thursday when the U.S. Senate committee leading the drive delayed work on the bill until September.

Senate Environment and Public Works Committee Chairman Barbara Boxer said her self-imposed deadline of early August for finishing writing a bill to combat global warming has been put off until after Congress returns from a recess that ends in early September.

"We'll do it as soon as we get back" from that break, Boxer told reporters. Asked if this delay jeopardizes chances the Senate will pass a bill this year, Boxer said, "Not a bit ... we'll be in (session) until Christmas, so I'm not worried about it."

But Boxer did not guarantee Congress will be able to finish a bill and deliver it to Obama by December, when he plans to attend an international summit on climate change in Copenhagen.

"I want to take this as far as we can take it (before Copenhagen). The more we do the better," Boxer said. . . . . MORE

Here is video of Andruw Jones of the Texas Rangers last night where he hit three home runs in consecutive at bats against the Los Angeles Angels. Jones homered in the 1st, 3rd, and 5th innings, giving him 14 home runs on the season.

Jones is a top candidate for Comeback Player of the Year. He was tossed aside by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the offseason because he had a disastrous season with them in 2008, hitting only 3 home runs all year and batting under .160. The Rangers picked him up in the offseason and gave him a chance. Rangers hitting instructor Rudy Jaramillo has worked extensively with Jones to help him get his swing back. It looks like he has succeeded. Jones has only played part-time most of the season, but is now playing every day. He has now hit 4 home runs in the last two games, and 9 home runs in his last 57 at bats. Reportedly, the Dodgers are paying $15 million of Jones' salary this year because they released him, and the Rangers are only having to pay $400,000.

With the addition of Al Franken to the U.S. Senate, Democrats believed that now have a 60 vote, filibuster-proof majority. But on the issue of "Cap and Trade," at least one Democrat is not supporting the legislation in its current form - Sen. Robert Byrd of West Virginia:

He is not yet back to work in the Senate chamber, but U.S. Sen. Robert Byrd is opposing "cap and trade" legislation pushed by the Obama administration.
The 91-year-old Byrd, D-W.Va., was released from an unidentified Washington, D.C. hospital last week after a month-long stay for a staph infection. He expects to return to the chamber before the Senate begins debate on "cap and trade" - which is tentatively set for this fall, according to Byrd's office.
"I cannot support the House bill in its present form," Byrd said in a statement. "I continue to believe that clean coal can be a 'green' energy. Those of us who understand coal's great potential in our quest for energy independence must continue to work diligently in shaping a climate bill that will ensure access to affordable energy for West Virginians. I remain bullish about the future of coal, and am so very proud of the miners who labor and toil in the coalfields of West Virginia."
Byrd grew up in the coalfields of Stotesbury, W.Va., in Raleigh County. Jesse Jacobs, spokesman for Byrd, said the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee will begin marking up the "cap and trade" bill later this month, with floor debate scheduled for September or October.
"So it is our hope that yes, Sen. Byrd will be here to vote on the legislation," Jacobs continued. "His return will be determined by his doctors and family members."
"Cap and trade" legislation - also known as House Resolution 2454 - is intended to reduce carbon emissions from coal-fired power plants over the next 40 years. It establishes a program that allows pollution permits to be bought and sold. The measure narrowly passed the U.S. House on June 26 by a vote of 219-212.

In what has to be one of the greatest examples of arrogance ever on public display, President Obama and other world leaders agreed together to control - the temperature of the world! Despite a report from Obama's own Environmental Protection Agency saying the world's temperature is not warming, the world leaders - with Obama in the lead - declared they would keep the temperature of the world from rising more than 3.6F.

President Obama and other leaders backed historic new targets for tackling global warming last night in an agreement designed to pave the way for a world deal in the autumn.

For the first time, America and the other seven richest economies agreed to the goal of keeping the world’s average temperature from rising more than 2C (3.6F).

They also agreed to cut greenhouse gas emissions by 80 per cent by 2050 as they strove for a worldwide deal at Copenhagen in December.

The moves were designed to put the squeeze on the world’s developing nations, most of whose leaders will join the G8 for a debate chaired by President Obama today. . . . . MORE

Obama and these other world leaders have drank the Al Gore "Global Warming" - uh, excuse me - Climate Change Koolaid. He is ready to destroy the economy of the United States in this bizarre belief that mortal man can actually control what level-headed, common sense people have always known you can't control - the weather! But for Obama, his Messiah complex is a perfect fit - even if it is laughable to all not too starry-eyed to see it. Only God knows what we are in for in the remaining 3 1/2 years of this Presidency. Americans are going to have to swallow a very bitter pill as a result of placing this man in the White House.

I leave you with a John McCain ad from last year's campaign that prophetically foretold what we are now getting from Obama. It was entitled, "The One." I wish people would have heeded it's warning:

They said McNair was killed by his girlfriend, Sahel Kazemi, as he sat sleeping on a sofa. She shot him in the right temple, then shot him twice in the chest, followed by a shot to the left temple. She then positioned herself on the sofa beside McNair and shot herself in the head.

What Biden does not say is that this only represents 10% of the total $1.5 Trillion cost of their Health Care Plan to bring socialized medicine to America. You and I know that the chances are slim to none that these hospitals will actually save that much money and be able to follow through with their vague commitment. We also can be sure the Socialized Medical Plan being pushed by the Democrats will wind up costing far more than the $1.5 Trillion they are admitting to today. This is a window-dressing attempt to make their plan sound doable, when the truth is something far different.

Obama Falls to -5 Rating in Latest Rasmussen Tracking Poll - 7/8/09

President Barack Obama's approval rating has dropped to it's lowest level according to the Rasmussen Daily Tracking Poll. Rasmussen says Obama has fallen to a -5 in the Presidential Approval Index, which subtracts those polled who "Strongly Disapprove" of the President's performance from those who "Strongly Approve." Today's numbers are:

32% Strongly Approve

37% Strongly Disapprove

This is Obama's lowest rating since becoming President. On June 8, just one month ago, he had a +7 rating at 36% Strongly Approve to 29% Strongly Disapprove. He has also fallen to a 52%-48% overall approval rating, the lowest of his Presidency.
