We are a little over a week away from leaving for Kid Kamp! Just a few things to "ponder":

If you haven't registered yet - don't wait! Registration ends Friday, June 6th. (Cost is $135.)
We leave on Monday, June 9th at 1p.m. Your Kampers will need to be here at 12 p.m. for check-in.

If you have forgotten what to pack or have misplaced your registration form, check out our blog for what to bring!

Saturday, May 31st and Sunday, June 1st
We will "officially" be promoting our little ones and not so little ones to the grade they will be going into come this fall.

Preschoolers : Ages 3-4 must be potty trained before moving into the preschoolers class.

Drop Off & Pick Up:
If your child is in Kindergarten - 5th grade, we meet in the high school room for worship and announcements.

Kindergarten or 1st Grade- You can pick your child up in their classrooms downstairs.
2nd-5th Grade - Your child has their small groups upstairs in the "Extreme Room" (middle classroom) where they meet.

For safety reasons, we do not allow others to pick up your child. Please do not send an older sibling or friends to pick up your child as they will not be permitted to do so.

Hello Troops! Can you believe Kids Kamp is only two weeks away! We are going to have some serious fun! For those of you who can't wait to start packing... here are you marching orders:

Check-in: Monday, June 9th - 12:00 p.m.
There will be designated areas where boys and girls check in.

Departure: Monday, June 9th - 1:00 p.m.

Parents, there will be no registration on the day of departure.
When checking in, please be sure to drop off your child's concession stand money with the clerk and medications (in a labled plastic bag) with the nurse.

To Pack

Clothing: (Be sure to pack for cool and warm weather.)
Warm jacket
Jeans - Shorts
T-shirts - Sweatshirts
Pajamas - Underwear - Socks
Shoes - Flip-flops
Swimsuit - Swim Trunks
Clean Clothes for evening services ~

We are going to "Basic Training" so if you have Camo - bring it!

Miscellaneous:
Bible - Pen
Sleeping Bag - Pillow
Sunscreen - Bug Repellant (you will need it!)
Beach Towel
Flashlight
Shampoo - Conditioner - Soap - Hair Brush - Comb (please!)
Money for snack bar - ($8 - $10 - extra money will not be returned)

Please be sure to label EVERYTHING!

Leave at Home: cell phones, i-pods, mp3 players, CD players, Pocket Games, knives, etc

Wednesday Nights are WILD Nights!

Beginning next Wednesday, May 14th from 6:30~7:30
We will be starting our Serengeti Trek, where kids are wild about God! Getting to KNOW God, TALKING to God, TELLING others about God, and LOVING God are just a few of the things we will be learning and celebrating.

Along with our story we will be making either a craft or snack and playing games... we will be dressing for the "theme" and would love it if the kids wanted to join in. We look forward to seeing you there!

Proud Sister #2

On September 29, 1980 my baby sister Jonna was born. I remember the day like
it was yesterday...

I woke up to hear that mom had deliver little Jonna Suzanne safely. She had lots of red hair, big blue eyes, and a kiss (birthmark) on her forehead. She would be home with mama by the time I got home from school. Guess what I shared for show-n-tell? You better believe it, I smiled and announced the baby's weight and length with pride. (You would have thought I was the new mother!) Needless to say, after school, I ran all the way home! I raced into the house, dropping my jacket and backpack, asking to hold the new baby. Deflated that I was asked to wash my hands first, I did it quickly and then made myself comfortable on the couch. With arms outstretched, I was introduced to the most beautiful creature. I held sweet baby Jonna what seemed like forever. Studying her every feature and checking to make sure she had all ten fingers and toes, I was a new mama - again.

Jonna has always made me feel like I was a good sister. She didn't mind me helping her ride a bike, getting her up in the middle of the night to go potty, and teaching her to tie her laces. She was always wanting to sleep with me in my bed or sit right next to me on the couch when there was 6 feet left on the opposite side! She was and is very inclined to laugh and find joy in almost everyone. She was more than eager to let me play "bodyguard" from our sister, Jodee. There was many times when the two younger sisters would be playing and undoubtedly something would happen - Jonna would come racing to my room screaming, "Jimi Anne!" Instantly I would open the door to find Jonna bursting in with Jodee hot on her heels! Keeping Jonna safe was my #1 priority.

Jonna is grown up and has two little girls of her own, Chloe and Katie, it makes me sigh... I pray those sweet babies know how wonderful their mama is. If they don't, I will be sure to tell them the stories of what she was like at their ages and how much they remind me of her.

I love you Jonna, you have made my life so much brighter!

Easter Parking

I can't wait for this weekend! Why? Because we're going to see more people give their lives to Christ this Easter Weekend than any Weekend so far...at least that's what we're praying for. Pray that with me, would you? How can you help? Invite the whole office…the whole family…the whole neighborhood…the whole class. Go to our new website and invite people with the "evite", using their email address. www.babchurch.org/evite.htm

If you’re not meeting a guest at a specific service time, come to the Sunday, 8:30 am service. At least for the next few weeks. Thanks for that, in advance. Also, park at Office Max if it is possible for you. We will need all the free parking spots here on our property.
And be on time, would you?!? The Easter music this weekend is incredible. I had the chance to hear the rehearsal this past week and it was extremely moving and powerful! You don't want to miss a single thing.

Remember:

Proud Sister...

I am the oldest of four girls in my family and I have always loved being the "big sister". It was one of my greatest joys in life and a responsibility that I took seriously. My mother has told people over the years that I became a mother when she had my sister, Jodee. I had so much love in me for her and wanted to teach her the "right things" - following my example, of course. To my astonishment and dismay, she didn't want a big sister "mothering" her or telling her what to do. It was apparent to me that she didn't understand how this was to be done, I then resorted to tough love. "This will help us get things on track," or so I thought. I'm sure by now you know - it made things worse, much worse. How could my dear sweet sister not want to sit at my feet and gleen from my years of wisdom? Didn't she understand that I was to be admired, loved and even respected? No, she did not. Jodee and I were the best of playmates and had great adventures but we suffered through some wars as well. Tears were shed as we resolved our "issues" (me being bossy and her not wanting to follow) with a better understanding of the other.

Growing up we have learned how to communicate and celebrate our differences. She has the ability to keep people in stitches, she is one of the funniest people I know. She has written songs for each of us in the family and could have easily written songs for Mariah Carey (as she told our trusting younger sister when they were still living at home. Poor Jonna, you should have seen her face fall when she learned the truth...)

I am proud to be the eldest in my family but I am blessed to be Jodee's sister above all.

Congratulations to our T&T Boys and Girls who came in 1st place for the AWANA Games! You all did a great job! Our Sparks team came in 3rd place and we are also proud of you!

Pride says, "Nobody does that to me!" God says, "If you are going to have a heart after me, you are going to have to learn to be humble."

Verse: "Though the LORD is great, He cares for the humble, but He keeps His distance from the proud. " ~ Psalm 138:6

1. How do you feel when others mistreat you?

A knight is ABLE. When we compare ourselves with others we invite jealousy into our hearts. We can look around at other's stuff, clothes, bikes, video games, friends, talents (like being able to run fast, shoot a basketball, paint, draw, read, write, or being funny), and compare what we have with what they have.

If we are going to have a heart after God, we've got to stop looking around and keep our eyes on the One who provides everything you need.

God has given you everything you need to live a life pleasing to God through knowing Jesus more and more each day. (2 Peter 1:3)

Verse: "Christ gives me the strength to face anything." - Philippians 4:13

Discussion Questions:
1. Is it wrong to want?
2. Why do we compare in the first place?

Yes, it's true. I am still learning. I am still learning about somethings I know very little about. Like, let's say...blogging for example! I have learned just today that when you post new information, you need to "create" a new post. (Sigh! I hang my head sadly, how could I have not known this?!) For all of you out there who are familiar with the blogging and the "etiquette" of keeping up with a blog site, please forgive me. I am still a work in progress.
