He's been going from strength to strength all season and with the National series approaching it's climax he's still in the running for a top finish in that.

Shaun Andrews also made the final in 19+ but had a tougher time coming home in 7th spot.

Two Ipswich riders in arguably the toughest class in UK BMX is a pretty mean feat. Good work guys!

Ipswich BMXhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04209658108774131683noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4452544324576999664.post-24730897538731402992008-07-31T19:12:00.001+01:002008-07-31T19:14:58.536+01:00Burnham National Rounds 8/9 ReportThe forecast looked awesome...and it most definitely was!
Racing Saturday and Sunday in temperatures above 25 degrees!
Friday evening practice was a breeze, taking it easy and getting most things out of the way, once the 3rd straight was done and dusted; all that was left to do was race it.

Saturday morning practice came and it was already a touch on the warm side, once again most riders taking it easy and concentrating on the first straight power from the gate saving their energy for the racing Saturday afternoon.
Come race time, the sun was blaring and with only 16 riders in 19+, the moto’s would be no easy stride, with a straight A final place every qualifier was a semi-final.

Ipswich’s Robbie Goodman took the win in 19+ and also from Ipswich Shaun Andrews unfortunately clipped out after a great snap which left him fighting to come back from 8th down the first straight and he managed to get back to take 6th place.

Junior and Elite Men/women were to race Saturday night for double points under flood lights and the temperature had cooled down nicely which was fortunate because Elite men were on fire!

Latvia’s Artus Mattisons took a major wide line in the first corner in the Elite Men main but his sheer strength propelled him down the 2nd straight unlike anyone had seen before and after a near miss with a Dutch rider in the 2nd corner he went on to take the win...which not to mention offered a generous £1500 and a UCI pro gate prize!

Ipswich’s Ria Goodman took 2nd overall in Junior Women

Sunday practice started a little later because neither junior men and women or Elite were racing. The heat was on once again as not a cloud appeared in the sky!
19+ were initially to have 18 riders on the Sunday but due to a couple of bad crashes in the class from Saturday, 3 pulled out, which left them with one less rider than the day before, so once again every qualifier counted!
Shaun Andrews took 4th and after Robbie had been winning his qualifiers fluffed the final and finished 7th.

The weekend at Burnham has been dubbed the best event so far this season and we hope the remaining events will be just as fantastic!
More awesome weather please!!

Ipswich BMXhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04209658108774131683noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4452544324576999664.post-21456767240547915862008-07-21T16:32:00.003+01:002008-07-21T16:43:02.372+01:00Regional Round 8 at Landseer ParkFirstly big thanks to everyone who came and raced, it was an excellent day and there was plenty of exciting racing. The weather kept many people away and numbers were low, but those who did brave it were kept well entertained.

Myself and John rode in the combined 17+/superclass, which wound up having 5 riders in total, John taking the win in superclass as it's only entrant whilst I got second in 17+ behind the legend that is Julian Allen, despite my best efforts to ride him off the track at every opportunity! Jack Driver was 4th in 16's, even with a snapped brake lever after one of his crashes!

A fun day all in all, so cheers to Braintree for braving it and running the event.

Ipswich BMXhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04209658108774131683noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4452544324576999664.post-73487270115600375782008-05-20T16:28:00.002+01:002008-05-20T16:42:16.594+01:00Mansfield National Rounds 4 & 5Sunday just past the Ipswich crew were back in action at Mansfield for the 4th and 5th rounds of the National BMX series. A far cry from the blistering heat of the previous weekends regional round, there was a chilly breeze all weekend but the sun won the battle over the drizzle of Saturday morning and left us with good racing conditions. We had an awesome weekend, with Ria taking 1st on Saturday and 2nd on Sunday, Robbie was disappointed to end up in the B-final on Saturday but made up for it by winning that with ease. Will Buck got the 4th spot. I managed another national A-final but hit the gate and wound up 8th. Sunday all three of us made the A-final, Robbie taking an excellent 4th spot, myself 6th and Will in 8th. RAD!

As always, Gate practice tonight at Landseer park from 6pm.

Ross

Ipswich BMXhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04209658108774131683noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4452544324576999664.post-30439885819663428692008-05-12T18:25:00.003+01:002008-05-12T18:50:02.724+01:00Mansfield Inter-RegionalWe've all been out riding our bikes too much to be typing on a computer but here's a little update of what's been happening.

Just back from sunny Mansfield for the EA Vs. Midlands Inter-regional. Plenty of riders turned up to get some sneaky practice in before the upcoming National round there this coming weekend, making for some exciting racing. As for our riders, not the best day we could have had. Ria Goodman took a spill in her final and Shaun Andrews went down hard in turn two of his semi final, with myself narrowly avoiding riding over him! Both of us relegated to the B-final, Shaun opted not to race as he aggravated his already broken thumb. I think I ended up 4th or 5th in B-final, I can't actually remember!

Don't forget, Gate Practice Tuesday, 6pm Landseer park.
