You can use a computer without
knowing anything at all about the workings of the underlying mechanism.
However, if you know how it evolved to the point where it is now, you have
a much richer understanding of why it works the way it does. For the same
reason, understanding how the design and architecture of web applications
has evolved provides valuable insight into how and why the architecture
is sound.
Part 1 covers the evolution of the architecture and design of state-ofthe-
art web applications. It does not discuss servlets, JSP, and custom tag
development from an API standpoint because plenty of other texts are
available that focus on those topics. Instead, we examine these APIs from
a design and architecture perspective, describing how to build web applications
that are scalable, maintainable, and robust. Chapter 1 provides an
overview of the topics for the entire book. Chapter 2 covers the evolution
of web development in Java; chapter 3 explores that evolution through
custom JSP tags. Chapter 4 discusses the preferred design and architecture
option, Model 2, along with some architectural options.
The World Wide Web is a perfect example of how a simple idea (pages linked via
hypertext) can lead to extraordinary richness. Originally envisioned as a way to
provide static pages (now affectionately known as “brochure-ware”), the medium
quickly grew to embrace dynamic content. These original efforts were written in
languages like C and Perl. As time and technology progressed, new application
programming interfaces (APIs) sprang into existence, each building and improving
on the preceding technologies. New APIs appear because developers discover
limitations in existing languages and tools. Limitations in existing APIs led to the
repurposing of Java for building dynamic web content, first as servlets, then as
JavaServer Pages (JSP). The history leading from Perl, Common Gateway Interface
(CGI), and C is well documented in just about every book on the servlet and
JSP core APIs.
Developers coming from more traditional application development (for example,
client/server applications) discover that building web applications is fundamentally
different in many ways. Even if you are fluent in Java, the architecture
and design of web applications doesn’t necessarily come naturally. Just as the
switch from console applications to event-driven applications required a major
shift in thinking, the switch from event-driven applications to the stateless world
of web development requires a paradigm shift as well. Even an understanding of
the basic infrastructure of web applications won’t immediately reveal the most
effective architecture and design. Many decisions made early in the design and
development process have unforeseen repercussions later in the process. Because
of the oft-quoted and well-documented cost of architectural and design changes
late in the application lifecycle, it behooves you to get it right from the outset.
This chapter provides an overview of the topics we cover in this book. First, we
discuss the evolution of Java web development and the importance of design patterns.
Next, we examine web application frameworks (which are the topic of
part 2 of this book). Finally, we examine best practices (the focus of part 3), along
with a hot-button issue that falls under that heading. The main goal of this book is
to show you how to apply best software-engineering practices to the development
of web applications in Java.

Aniz Annahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15087580694232087934noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4387822242306477890.post-14749138198995171702008-05-14T06:43:00.000-07:002008-05-14T06:45:06.907-07:00Profitable Autoresponders - Discover 6 Brand New Secrets to Amplify Your AutorespondersBy Sean R Mize

In this article, I share with you the 6 brand new secrets that you can use when sending promotional emails to your potential clients that can help boost your sales and maximize the benefits that you can get through your autoresponders:

1. Ensure that your promotional and marketing messages are clear. You would want your recipients to understand your message as quickly as possible so they can easily digest your ideas. This is the first step to compel them to take advantage of your products and services. Remember, nobody will make a purchase unless they understand what they are paying for. So, keep your email content as simple as possible. Use plain English and common terms that your potential clients can easily identify with.

2. Make your recipients feel that what you are offering them is important and extremely valuable. Make your potential clients understand that they will be doing themselves a favor if they purchase your products. You can do this by building up your offering and highlighting their benefits and features on your promotional emails.

3. Make sure that your copy is of high quality. Your promotional emails must be well-written, mirrors your expertise on your chosen niche, and they must flow well. They must also be free from any types of errors that can easily be taken against your professionalism.

4. Personalize your email messages. You don't want to be addressed as "Valued Customer" when you got a name, right? Most people feel the same way. To make your potential clients feel special and unique, strive to use their name at least twice within your email content. Also, make your email messages more personal by making them sound like you are directly talking to your recipients.

5. Make your autoresponder messages visually appealing. You may incorporate 2-3 images that are highly relevant to your message or insert a blinking text to easily get your recipients' attention. However, be careful not to overdo it if you don't want your content to look amateurish and if you don't want your downloading time to get affected.

6. Thank your paying customers through your autoresponders. Show your customer how much you appreciate their business by sending thank you notes every time they make a purchase. This simple gesture can make your customers feel valued and this will definitely promote repeat business and thus, increase profits.

Do you want to learn more about how I use article marketing to drive over 5194 unique visitors to my site each month?

Find out free here: article marketing traffic generation

Do you want to learn how I add over 1987 subscribers to my list each month? It's the part that involves getting the word out concerning your business, product, or the services you are offering. Advertising and marketing are key elements in a company's success. One cannot be used without the other. Advertising works based on statistics. So there are definitely some people which are not reached by most ads.

This essentially is charged with having a product or service and creating a need or a perceived desire of the consumer to buy it. The message is designed to create awareness that the product exists, how it will be of value to the consumer or make their lives easier because they have it and explain why they should buy it immediately.

This only equals one piece of the pie in the strategy. All of these elements must not only work independently but they also must work together towards the bigger goal. Advertising Conference underscored the fact consumers trust other consumers more than they do marketers for product information. In today's oversaturated, fragmented media landscape, word-of-mouth marketing remains a cost-effective part of many advertisers' marketing mix.

It is a single aspect of marketing, which involves spreading the word about a business, product, or service offered to the public. Strategy is definitely a key part here, as there are many avenues to use. Advertising can serve for marketing well if it is suitable for the marketing strategy. It is a way to marketing the products or service of a company. Advertising is one of the keys to a successful business.

Advertising, personal selling, publicity, and public relations form the components of the marketing communication or promotional mix. Integrated Marketing Communication (IMC) is the strategic use of the aforesaid components towards . Advertising is to "display" ones wares. It is entirely passive.

It isn't what it used to be. Media has changed dramatically. Advertising builds brand awareness, which builds trust and credibility. Of course, that translates to more purchases.
<img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_3rB_k_VmZHs/SCris_bFI6I/AAAAAAAABIo/Wy6tHX4S0YA/s320/Todd-Ash_117831.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5200217982319797154" />
Advertising and promotions managers may travel to meet with clients or representatives of communications media. At times, public relations managers travel to meet with special-interest groups or government officials. It reaches people through varied types of mass communication. In everyday life, people come into contact with many different kinds of advertising.

Advertising trojans make clandestine connections to adservers behind your back, consume precious network bandwidth and may compromise the security of your data. The latest versions of these "ad-viruses" operate in full stealth and are nearly impossible to detect without advanced knowledge of the system environment.

Todd Ash Is An Entrepreneur and A Master Of Network Marketing. To Find Out More About Succeeding Online Click Here To Visit Toddash.com For Free Information

Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=Todd_Ash

Aniz Annahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15087580694232087934noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4387822242306477890.post-35869639549731140872007-05-10T13:49:00.000-07:002008-12-09T00:02:36.096-08:00Fun With GoogleA cabinet of search
engine curiosities,
riddles, games, and a
little bit of usefulness

(Original cartoon by the US government.)

When I think of Google, first and foremost I think of its role to
discover knowledge, people, and people’s thoughts. Search engines are
truly one of the first emergents of a global brain, and in good tradition
of Gutenberg’s inventions in the technology of printing, of the
invention of the internet, and later the invention of the World Wide
Web. All those bring us closer together by speeding up the rhythm in
which we communicate.
So there we have it, for the first time in history: search, the key to
instant knowledge. And what do we do with it? Silly things. OK, not
exclusively. But silliness is a part of it. People googlewhack,
googlebomb, or egogoogle. People create parodies of Google. They
create search engine contests. Magic tricks, riddles and art based on
Google. They have a lot of fun with Google, and get together to play
games on top of Google services. Even Google Inc themselves send
out April Fool’s jokes every year, and celebration logos many times a
year. Oh, humanity!
But behind many of the playful creations surrounding that giant
Google toy, there are serious lessons to be learned. Of the 55 ways to
have fun with Google presented here, some ways indeed teach us
something; about life, Google, and how to become a better searcher.
And the rest of the ways? Well, seriously, they’re really just there to
have fun. And I hope you enjoy!

1. Egogoogling: Susan Is…

Have you ever searched for your own name on Google, curious what
the world has to say about you? Almost everyone of us did, one time
or another. In fact, you should – maybe others search for you all the
same, and you want to know what they will find.
The act of searching for yourself is also known as “egogoogling.”
Here’s a variant of it which can be a fun game. Enter your first name
followed by the word “is” into Google, and put the search in quotes.
For example, if your name is Susan, the search would look like this:
“susan is”
Now in the search result snippets, you will learn a lot of things about
you that you didn’t even know! For the name “Susan,” we get the
following:
Susan is an amazing person to work with!
Susan is an ethical woman and is refusing to cooperate
Susan is a very attractive young lady (with a boyfriend) who for
some reason is always late.
Susan is a top Florida residential real estate agent.
Susan is a top producer specializing in the ski resort town of
Breckenridge, as well as the surrounding area.
Not only can you apply this approach to find out more about yourself
(or just have a good laugh, actually, as the results are likely to be about
another person), you can also use this to find out about celebrities. To
do so, enter the full celebrity name followed by the word “is” into
Google, and put it in quotes again:
“arnold schwarzenegger is”
For action movie star Arnie, we get these results:
Arnold Schwarzenegger is a very talented man who would
make an excellent governor.
Arnold Schwarzenegger is falling into a similar spiral.
Arnold Schwarzenegger is looking out for voters’ best
interests.
“I WILL BE BACK”…:D

NEXT PAGE, PLEASE => :)

Aniz Annahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15087580694232087934noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4387822242306477890.post-32621167856255222252007-04-23T15:25:00.000-07:002008-12-09T00:02:36.334-08:00you want more? The Google Snake Game
Here’s a party game which needs nothing but a working internet
connection (say, a notebook or cell phone), and Google.com’s web
search. The goal is to create the longest phrase that Google can find by
alternately adding one word to the end of the other player’s search
phrase. Say, the first person starts with “Feelings”. Now the second
person adds a word, “are”, so we get “Feelings are”... (Note the use of
quotation marks in the search query.)
Now every time a word is added, the phrase is searched for in Google,
and the resulting page count is announced to the group. The one
person who creates a sentence with zero results in Google loses and has
to do something silly (or if you want to play with points, he loses a
point, and the last person who created a sentence with results in Google
will win a point). To prevent cheating, the one whose turn is next is not
allowed to look at any search result snippet.
Let’s take our sample, and see what we get:
Peter: “Feelings” (53,200,000 results in Google)
Mary: “Feelings are” (2,100,000 results)
Jake: “Feelings are nothing” (1,090 results)
Susan: “Feelings are nothing and” (19 results)
Peter: “Feelings are nothing and we” (0 results)
Susan gets 1 point, and Peter gets minus 1 points (or has to do
something silly).
If you create too obscure a sentence there won’t be any results and you
will lose, but if your sentence gets too many results, your opponent will
also be able to create a sentence with results. The basic strategy is to try
to create sentences so silly that there are only a few results, but not so
silly there are no results…

(:<= Page 2 Page 3 Page 4 =>:)

Aniz Annahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15087580694232087934noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4387822242306477890.post-24373610826070180272007-04-23T15:03:00.000-07:002008-05-23T15:23:58.036-07:00Note that you can use “stars in,” “was born in” and similar glue words
instead of “is” to find out almost anything about a celebrity.
