Ever wondered how it could work better?

Formal Consensus is a simple structure that any group can use to make decisions efficiently and effectively. Learn how to use it to draw out the best possible decisions that harness the diverse creativity and talents of any group. Formal Consensus is an important tool for building sustainable communities, deep democracy and participatory governance.

Formal Consensus emerged as a way of quickly making good decisions among a group of hundreds of loosely affiliated individuals. Formal Consensus has been successfully adopted by forward thinking businesses, intentional communities, and the global activist group Food Not Bombs. Nathaniel White trained with the author of the Formal Consensus manual, C.T. Butler, in 1997. He uses the method in his paid and voluntary work, and contributed to the most recent version of the manual.

There will be an advanced Formal Consensus facilitation class running in support of this introduction class, 9am - 5pm, part of a rolling programme. See website for details -http://www.integrityunlimited.co.uk/advanced-facilitation-program

Contact Nathaniel -white*AT*magicatechne.com - £5-40 sliding scale. We regret that we have had to postpone the event next Saturday.

We will be working toward holding it in Brighton in October, when hopefully we can generate some more buzz.

Please do sign up to the South East Transition Initiatives (SETI) site, to keep up with future events...it is the only way at the moment for us all to be connected.

http://southeasttransitioninitatives.ning.com/

Although we received some advance bookings, a bunch of intentions to come, quite a few 'maybes', and a handful of heroes stepped forward to help underwrite the event, we felt that the numbers were not sufficient to continue (and expose anyone to the risks of not meeting costs).

It was ambitious to bring this together so soon, and although we sincerely feel a strong need for this type of event, and sooner rather than later, we also recognise that it is summertime and short notice.

With gratitude for all those who committed to this, and to everyone for all the good work being done. See you in October? And for the Transition B&H 2nd Birthday celebrations on 25 July?

Those who have already paid will receive their reimbursement shortly.

Warm regards

Martin, Beth, Mike

...A bit like a conference, but less suits...

@ Friends Meeting House, Brighton

Make space in your diaries for a rare chance to get together for a day with like minded people coming to town from all over the South East to weave stories and get inspired.

It is an opportunity to strengthen our community of Transition initiatives in the South East and to learn from each other. Details to be announced over the coming weeks, but will include Open Spaces for effective dialogue and some connecting with the latest happenings in the Transition Network.

If it's anything like recent gatherings, it should give us a Transition Tickle and help amplify and focus our energy and determination. We need your help to make it successful. Tell people about it and make sure you're there; early bookers will help our finances and be treated as heroes - please contact Martin bookings*AT*transitionbrightonandhove.org.uk / 07891 571739.
Tickets £20 / £8.

Details here - please also sign up to the South East Transition Initiatives network -
http://southeasttransitioninitatives.ning.com/ << your guide to happenings around the South East.

If you are new-ish to Transition, then we would really encourage you to sign up for our 'Introduction to Transition' workshop at the start of the day, included in the price.

Martin Ghttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16334342107077274957noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-435944065779553296.post-37197787291491729712009-06-24T21:12:00.000+01:002009-06-22T21:18:03.153+01:00Transition Brighton and Hove - Monthly Forum Meeting - 24th June
The Werks, 45 Church Road, Hove, BN3 2BE. This is especially for anyone who has come across the Transition Towns movement recently, or those who have been around the fringes for a while....or those who have been somewhat involved but really feel they should get more of a grip on what this thing is really about....and those who have never heard of this Transition thing, but their mate said they should come along and check this thing out.

This is where you find out why there's a Transition storyline in the Archers, why The Transition Handbook was MPs 5th favourite read during last summer's holidays, and why this has gone from a small town in Devon to an international phenomenon in 30 countries in just 4 years.

It is for anyone who is concerned about Climate Change, what's going to happen the next time oil prices go through the roof or markets crash, who would like to see a more sustainable, healthier city. Or who wants to replace pessimism or despair with fun, action and community.

To be followed by 'community building' in the nearest pub.

Contact Martin 07891 571739 / bookings*AT*transitionbrightonandhove.org.uk

Note: this introduction will also run before the Transition South East Gathering at Friend's Meeting House, Saturday 27th June.
