The contrast between those who are wealthier and those who are not is never far away in developing countries. What was different about El Salvador (El Slavador or El Salavador), was the attitude of the less financially endowed.
Poorer people often have to vend to earn a living and vendors can be unobligingly persistent in their pursuit of sales. Not so, the Salvadorans. Dignity, cheerfulness and innovation are more their trademark. What a people to embrace! What ingredients in their history have wrought such grace? How often do you find these attributes? What other nation has such treasure within?

Then there is the beauty of the land itself. Go inland from the 200 miles of coastline and you sweep upwards towards the 25 volcanoes that range along its inland borders. Only 6 of these have been active over the past 150 years, and then seldom drastically so. They do provide however, dramatic vistas when you climb up some of them, and an equally dramatic return to ground level in the case of the volcano Izalco. It's steep sides are invariably negotiated by a slide down to the bottom.

Geographically El Salvador opens its doors to lots of warm days and sunshine, shutting them on the cold draughts of winter climates endured elsewhere. Add to this warm rain in due season and you have a jewel of a country.

Tourism is not a highly developed industry in El Salvador (El Slavador or El Salavador), yet opportunities for tourists abound. There are 14 lakes to choose from on which to go boating. Try the crater lake at Coatepeque or Lake Suchitlan. The Rio Sumpral enters and exits L. Suchitlan - a tranquil river allowing you to daydream gently as you paddle its course. Flocks of birds fly up from their perches on the banks encasing the river as you go by. The river quietly clears its throat only when a fallen log temporarily divides its course, imperceptibly causing it to cough and splutter on the surface.

Other rivers, like the Rio Lempa give a more adventurous ride. This one runs through the Eastern parts of El Salvador (El Slavador or El Salavador), down to the coast.

Then there is the coastline itself. Jiquilisco Bay kayaking trips allow one to enter the deep mangrove swams of San Dionisco's Island. Mangrove swamps, with their theatrical separated roots rising up out of the water like dried up broomsticks of long ago, are often found at the point where the rivers enter the sea.

Parts of the coastline challenge the skills of many surfers, kayakers and canoeists, while other areas are better suited to beginners. All along the coastline one can find places to stay. Some are more developed than others - resorts especially set up for the 'greenback' tourist industry, but for those who want to just experience El Salvador (El Slavador or El Salavador), smaller, less conspicous, equally enchanting places exist right on the beach front. The La Libertad stretch of coastline, less than an hour's drive from San Salvador, is a good place to start.

To purchase any small boat visit: http://www.theboatingstore.co.cc

About the Author

A retired high school teacher. If you are considering a beach vacation, this would make the perfect place. The proximity to many areas allow easy access and the area has not become as commercial as other cities nearby. The perfect place to play in the sun, the sand and the gulf, this is an area that has not become fashionable yet.

Not only is this a place where you can enjoy the sunshine and beaches, but there are other sites available as well. Dauphin Island, which is quite close has many attractions. The Audubon Bird Sanctuary is great for those who are interested in nature. The kids will love going to Adventure Island where they can see the only volcano they will ever see on the gulf coast.

When it is time for some out-of-water fun, this is the place to check out for bumper boats, an arcade, a roller coaster and go-kart track. The mini-golf course is another aspect as is laser tag which is very popular today. The hot air balloons, a water park, Waterville USA and museums will ensure there is something for everyone to enjoy.

Gulf State Park is one aspect that you will not want to miss. With 6,150 acres, you will find a whole other list of activities to enjoy in the park. Camping is permitted whether it is in a tent or cottage, so whether roughing it or enjoying modern conveniences it is a fun-filled vacation. Gulf Shores is definitely a vacation spot that has an excess of activities for all ages.

Do you want to know about more cool places to visit and some cool ways to get discounts on travel?

David Dutton helps people find the places to visit in the world. His name was Atlas and, although the Greek world may have disappeared, the sky-topping Atlas Mountains remain. The mountains, the highest in North Africa, are as extraordinary today as they were in the time of the Greeks. Soaring peaks loom over lush valleys, beautiful Berber villages sit above seasonal rivers and rich farmland. There remains a hint of a lost world, of Shangri-La about the place and its people.
With Marrakech fast becoming one of our most popular short-break destinations and with low-cost flights direct from the UK, the mountains, just an hour's drive from the city, have never been easier to reach. Nor had there ever been such a range of facilities and activities to choose from. The Atlas Mountains have long been a frontier between the fertile north and the approaches to the Sahara in the south. The mountain Berbers resisted every invasion from the ancient Romans to the 20th century French. But they are now happy to welcome visitors to their mountain world and to share their pride in their culture.

What to do once you get to the mountains? There are two very different ways of going about them. You could go for the fresh air and the hundred and one ways of enjoying it. The Atlas Mountains, and particularly the highest peak, Jebel Toubkal, have long attracted serious climbers. They have now become one of the world's great trekking destinations, where even indolent walkers will find delights among the many mule paths that crisscross the range.

And if you don't fancy walking, but still want to get out and about, you can always ride a mule, a horse or a mountain bike. For the history addict, there is just as much drama in the story of the Berbers and of the trans-Saharan trade. of the Glaoui, the great Pasha of Marrakech, whose feudal rule only ended fifty years ago. With its drama, grandeur, beauty and terror, it sums up the draw of the region.

  Alternative approaches

Nature lovers

The High Atlas used to be the preserve of serious climbers, but recreational trekking has become increasingly popular. Guides, mules and all equipment can be found at the main trailhead, a village called Imlil. If you want to plan something in advance contact the Bureau des Guides or multi-lingual star guide Mohamed Aztat ( 00 212 668 76 01 65 www.atlastrekshop.com ). Guide rates start at £17 per group per day.

About the Author

Mountain guide from Imlil-Morocco

Guide Your Through New York at Night

The song says it exactly; it is a city that never sleeps. Whoever goes to New York always plan to stay there for a night. And although he plans to stay there for a night, don't count on needing a hotel. The city beckons anyone, especially visitors, to dine in its numerous fine restaurants and have fun in its hip bars.

While its mornings display business activities at its fastest and busiest, the nights highlight the best of fun and enjoyment. Being there without seeing for himself what it offers after the sun has gone means missing more than half of what the city is. In fact, it would seem like he never visited the city at all.

The best way of starting a night of fun is by dining at one of New York City restaurants. These are hundreds and deciding on which one to go to may be quite complicated. One should narrow down his choices first to the type of restaurant he prefers.

The choices can depend on the cuisine, the aura, or the budget. Being in a cultural melting pot, New York City restaurants provide a variety of gastronomic delights originating from different countries. They also cater to the aura and choice the customers make, from the festive to romantic. Because these are many, finding the less expensive should be easy.

Tourists and other visitors must remember to prepare extra cash for tips. It is almost obligatory for all customers in whatever kind of restaurant to give tips to the staff. In fact, it is considered discourteous to give tips less than 15% of the of meals' costs. If tipping is too tough for a customer, he may as well try the self-service restaurants.

After a good dinner, one cannot possibly ignore NYC nightlife. No, but you will not get your free cabin by harassing the cruise line staff. All you will do if you pester them is annoy them and waste your time. We cruised once with a woman who made it a habit of booking lower priced rooms and trying to complain her way into better cabins. It never worked. Especially now with so many cruise deals and cruises are filling up there is less need to be accommodating. Yes, cruise lines want you to have fun but they are tightening their belts when it comes to the freebies. Play by their rules, though, and they are more than happy to reward you with a free cabin.

Now on to the top three ways to get a free cabin:

Now on to how to actually get a cabin for free. The best way is to put together a group of 15 passengers or more and the ship will gladly give you your cabin for free. Where will you find these other people? Try organizing a family reunion, call up your friends or organize your high school reunion shipside. Some lines will even give you this free room with a group containing as few as six people. The larger the group, the more perks you get. For a very large group they may even throw you your own cocktail party. You will probably still have to pay the taxes and maybe a small fee but the rest of the room price will be comped.

Another way to cruise for free is as a lecturer. You lecture on your subject a few times a day and the rest of the time you are free to enjoy the cruise experience. You get to talk about something you love and get rewarded for it on top of it.

If you are a doctor or nurse, you may also be in luck as these types of professionals are in high in demand. You would be expected to work a few hours in the on board clinic and be there for emergencies but the rest of the time is yours to spend as you wish.

Enjoy the shows, the casinos and the pool. Go for a spa treatment, work out in the gym or take a class. Cruising is fun and getting part or all of your fare comped is even better.

Caterina Christakos is a published author and reviewer. It is just opening up to the world, and visitors to the country will agree that there is a charm and appeal in Laos that makes the country unique. Luang Prabang is one of the cities in Laos that is a must see.

There is much to see and do in Luang Prabang. In terms of natural sites, there is the Kuang Si Falls. The waterfall is a favorite spot for Luang Prabang visitors because of the 180 feet main waterfall and several 15 feet falls all dropping down into a mineral blue green pool below. Pak Ou Caves is another place to visit while in Luang Prabang and can only be reached by boat. The caves itself are filled with hundreds of Buddhist sculptures which were assembled throughout the centuries by the locals.

This UNESCO World Heritage Site also boasts colorful culture. Monks on alms walks are a common but still very picturesque site. Visitors can also visit that National Museum (which was once the Royal Palace) or Wat Xieng Thong temple for a taste of culture and history. I finally made the trip this past summer and it exceeded my expectations. There are actually many different tours available that vary in length and difficulty. From the visitor center, tours leave every hour or so, either on foot or by bus to the many cave entrances.
I enjoyed my New Entrance Tour so much the first day that I decided to stay overnight at the Mammoth Cave Hotel, and go on the Violet City Lantern Tour the next morning. That tour leaves on foot as the entrance is near the visitor center. Before walking to the entrance the rangers distribute coal-oil lanterns to every third person since that is the only light used. There are actually electric lights in this section of the cave, but for the most part, they are turned off and lanterns are the only source of light. Your eyes get quite used to the light level and it is an amazing effect going through as the early explorers did. The trail is mostly wide and flat (though there is some up and down), so it is not dangerous or frightening.

The park ranger guide for our tour added a very special touch by getting into character for the different phases of the tour. He acted out the part of different people of the different time periods in history. He was great and has actually appeared on TV for this.

This tour is about three miles, and three hours long. The amazing thing about this particular section of the cave is how large the tunnel is, and how level the rock strata are in places. At the first part there is an introduction to the historical War of 1812 activity of mining saltpeter (potassium nitrate) for making gunpowder and preserving meat. Deeper in is the section where Dr. John Croghan set up a tuberculosis sanatorium in 1842. It was thought that the dry air and constant temperature of the cave would cure the illness. To think how people lived down there for months without seeing daylight and exposed to the smoke of cooking and heating fires was a sobering thought.

Our guide also told of how at one point some entrepreneurs got the idea of opening a hotel inside a section of the cave, but thought better of it when they came up with the name, Mammoth Cave Inn. I'll let you decide if that's true, or not.

I thoroughly enjoyed my experience and plan to go back and take some different tours. Although no children under age 6 are allowed on the Violet City Lantern Tour, there are many other tours suitable for children. It is an extremely popular family location and kids love it, as you might imagine.

About the Author

Roscoe enjoys writing about a variety of topics including hiking, music, and fitness. If it isn't, you may be turned away at the door, and you won't be able to bring little Fido along.

Here's what you need to look out for when you're looking for the best airline approved pet carrier...

Make sure it's FAA approved: The first thing that you need to check out is to make sure that the carrier is FAA approved. This way, you will know for a fact that you can bring it on board. When you purchase it in store, or even online, it should tell you right on the box if it's eligible.

Get the right size: Know how big, and how much your pet weighs. You don't want to purchase a carrier that's too small. Instead, you'll want to make sure that you get one that allows your pet to be relatively comfortable in their carrier, while being carried around.

Look at reviews: Some carriers look great, but what you find out later is that they are cheaply made, or they just don't handle well. You'll want to go to a place like Amazon, or do a quick Google search to see what other people think of it.

One thing is for sure, and if you plan on flying with your pet, make sure that you get a carrier. By doing so, your pet will fly with ease, and it will be a lot easier to carry your pet around.

See what I think are the best airline pet carriers on the market today, as well as more of my work all at FINDairlinecards.

Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=Tom_Tessin

The Advantages of Airport Accommodation

It does not matter whether you are travelling for business purposes or setting off on a well deserved holiday, the trip to the airport itself is crucial. A traffic jam, flat tyre on the car or other unplanned obstacle can throw even the most accurate plan into disarray and whatever the reason for travelling, no one wants to miss a flight they have booked and paid for.

Around one in every eight travellers fails to catch a flight every year and missing your departure can end up being costly, not to mention the inconvenience of having to rearrange your travel plans.

As the run-up to jetting off can actually be quite challenging it makes sense to stay in a hotel close to the airport the night before your departure. Transport fears are allayed, no route planning is required and you can sleep safe in the knowledge that you are just a hop, skip and jump away from the airport.

Staying in a hotel which lies in close proximity to the airport means you have a short trip ahead of you when making your way to departures the next day so you have some extra time to play with. You might want to squeeze in a few extra hours sleep, hit the gym or simply enjoy a leisurely breakfast. Whatever you like to do in the morning you will have more time to do it when you stay in an airport hotel.

Ensure every minute from take-off to touch-down is hassle free by exploring the airport hotel options available to you. Use the internet as a research tool, ask friends and family or call the airport you are travelling from to find out what the options are.

Once you have chosen and booked your hotel then all you need to do is check-in the day before your departure. Once you have located your room and dropped off your bags you can begin to relax and make use of the facilities available.

Depending on the airport hotel you choose you might have access to leisure facilities so you can work up a sweat in the gym or take it easy in the sauna. You can take a break from cooking and dine out at the hotel restaurant or take a seat in the hotel bar for a few drinks before bedtime.

Individual airport hotels offer different facilities so check your chosen accommodation before arrival to ensure you make the most of your trip from the very beginning.

Most airport hotels offer a regular shuttle service to the terminals so you can simply step on one of these in the morning and arrive at check-in within minutes.

Wherever in the United Kingdom you are travelling from you should be able to find an airport hotel. From the ancient, meandering streets off the Old Town and the Royal Mile, flanked at each end by an ancient castle and a royal place, to the Greek-inspired architecture of the New Town, the city is very much a mix of old and, well, not so old.

Edinburgh's famous skyline is probably best viewed from Arthur's Seat, a hill in the centre of the city formed by moving glaciers some two million years ago. The view from the top is breathtaking and is well worth the moderately-difficult 30 minute amble to the top.

The most striking aspect of Edinburgh's cityscape is the lack of any modern skyscrapers. An abundance of church spires, tenements and a cacophony of weird and wonderful architectural shapes fill the skyline, making it a sight to behold both day and night.

However, for those who need more than the promise of good views from a city break, then the Scottish capital delivers on almost every front.

For food lovers, Edinburgh has four Michelin-star restaurants, three of which - The Kitchin, Plumed Horse and Martin Wishart - are all within a five minute walk of each other in the Leith area of the city. Of course, not everyone will have stacks of cash to spend on their nights out, and there are countless affordable quality restaurants and top Edinburgh hotels to be found across the city, covering every cuisine imaginable.

Theatre, too, features highly in Edinburgh's repertoire of 'things to do'. The Playhouse, Royal Lyceum, Traverse, Festival and Kings Theatre all regularly host some of the world's greatest acts, covering comedy, musicals, opera, ballet and dramas.

Whilst the nightlife in Scotland's capital city is a major selling point, its strategic position on the shores of the Firth of Forth ensures there is a an easy escape to a more sedate, relaxed way of life too. A short bus or train journey is all that stands between the hustle and bustle of city life and the tranquillity of South Queensferry, a small coastal village situated directly beneath the famous Forth Railway Bridge.

From here, visitors can amble along by the water (weather permitting!) and breathe in the fresh sea air. Ferries also leave from here, with the Maid of the Forth offering cruises, including live jazz and dinner, while day trips often include pit stops at one or more of the small islands nearby, each home to a variety of unique wildlife such as puffins and seals.

As a major UK city with a population approaching half a million people, there is plethora of things to see and do in Edinburgh. From the panoramic views of Arthur's Seat, to the shores of the Firth of Forth, there is something for everyone in what is one of Europe's most stunning cities.

About the Author

Daniel Collins writes on a number of topics on behalf of a digital marketing agency and a variety of clients. You want a place without fifteen-story hotels, screaming crowds, and a thousand souvenir shops. You want a place where you can finally relax and recuperate from the smash and grab daily grind. Well, worry no longer. Below you will find eight of the most peaceful paradises in the world. But don't wait a decade to choose one. By then, they may no longer be some of the best secret travel destinations.
1. Isla de Vieques, Puerto Rico: Because this little gem was controlled by the U.S. Navy until 2003, it lacks the crowds, tourist traps, tall buildings, and traffic of commercialized vacation spots. This is truly an unspoiled island with lush, rolling hills, tranquil lanes, and a pristine beach with bioluminescent waters. At night, under glittering stars, the surf truly lights up with glowing living organisms. It's like an ethereal wonderland.

Besides the stunning beauty, the island offers view of the final Spanish fort built in the Americas; it offers snorkeling, hiking, bicycling, and horseback riding on sleek horses. The residents are warm and personable and you will likely make a few friends before you leave. If you want a little more excitement for a few days, ferry the six miles to San Juan and perhaps stay at the fabulous La Concha Resort with multi-level, infinity pools and five restaurants to fit your every mood and taste.

2. Secret Beach, Kauai: Nestled at the base of a sheer cliff just north of Kilaua, it's hard to find anything about this hideaway to criticize. Cottages nestled on the mountainsides offer a panoramic view. The cottages are furnished with quaint furniture, Jacuzzi, kitchen utensils, appliances, Kauai guidebooks, beach supplies, and even laundry detergent. Enjoy at least a few meals gazing out from your own deck. The beach is private and easy to walk to.

Snorkel on Tunnels Reef, have lunch at the Tropical Taco, view the Waimea Canyon (Grand Canyon of the Pacific) and Wailus and Opaeka Falls. Kayak peacefully on the Lanalei River, buy something sweet from the Kilauea Bakery and buy fresh seafood from the fish market across from the King Lung shops. Grill the fish yourself at your cottage for a meal you'll never forget. This is a Hawaii worlds away from the crazy commercized chaos of Waikiki.

3. Waykaya Club and Spa, Fiji: This is a private 2,200-acre retreat belonging to Fiji's 333 islands, featuring serene lagoons, majestic cliffs, gorgeous beaches, and encircled by a virgin coral reef. Start off with the stunning orientation walk to begin tasting the wild natural beauty and charm. You will see tropical forests, spectacular lookout points, pristine beaches, and a wildlife sanctuary teaming with feral horses, pigs, deer, and goat. At the Club and Spa you will find a 9-hole golf course, lighted tennis courts, and equipment for a quick game of croquet.

The Club will pack a gourmet picnic lunch for you take anywhere your heart leads you. Play a game of billiards or do a vigorous workout followed by a luxurious massage. Tour the organic gardens, the Fijian wood carvers, the cooking demonstrations, or the exotic bird watching. Play beach volleyball, or sit back and enjoy a native dance pageant or Kava ceremony. Then on Sunday, if you like, attend the Village Church to hear the Fiji choir and enjoy the 30-minute service. You will never get bored at the Waykaya Club.

4. Jellyfish Lake, Palau: Palau is a wonderland located about 500 miles from the Philippines. The limestone islands in this area were formed by many thousands of year of coral accretion slowly lifting out of the sea. The one jellyfish lake open to the public is on the uninhabited island of Macharchar. Somehow along the way, the jellyfish have lost their sting, so divers or snorkelers can swim safely among the 1.2 million translucent, orange orbs ranging in size from marble- to volley ball-sized.

As they pulsate through the azure waters, they bump harmlessly against snorkelers and drift on. It is doubtful that you will be able to tear yourself away from the jellyfish, but, if so, the sea kayaking among the Rock Islands is superb, and there are fascinating World War II relics to be found on the island of Peleliu. For breathtaking view and nice accommodations, try Koror's Cliffside Hotel.

5. Santorini, Greece: This island is actually a live volcano, but it isn't expected to belch again in our lifetime. The volcanic yield has resulted in black sand beaches and soil that grows some of the best wine grapes in existence. Because of the volcanic soil Santorini also grows some of the sweetest tomatoes in the world. You must sample the fried tomato balls (Keftadas).

You may never see a more awe-inspiring site as when you gaze from the rim of the volcano and watch tiny boats cross the royal blue waters. If you can tear yourself away from that, you must visit the nearby town of Oia, with its stunning sunsets. Two terrific restaurants to visit are the Saltsa and the Nyhteri. Perhaps you can find lodging among the villages overlooking the submerged volcano. And two hotels that can be recommended are the Villa Kalimera and the Volcano View Villas.

6. The Caves Resort, Negril, Jamaica: The resort sits atop honeycomb, limestone cliffs overlooking the sea. It features eleven exclusive Cliffside accommodations, two main dining gazebos, and private cave dining. If you ever get tired of the view and the pampering, you can watch dolphins, jet ski, go horseback riding, or enjoy the sauna, Jacuzzi, or the saltwater swimming pools. The rooms of the resort overflow with ambience: music for whatever your vibe, candles and scented oils, the most comfortable beds, and gracious hospitality. Rick's Café is one of the greatest places to eat. Sheddy Williams has been the head chef for 15 years. Enjoy the rich Jamaican coffee, the fresh fruit plate, mango daiquiris and a full course dinner. It is guaranteed that no matter how frayed your nerves when you arrived, you will leave the Caves refreshed.

7. Christ Church, Barbados: Why would you visit the Barbados? Well, for one thing, the residents love tourists and the crime rate is almost non-existent. You can cruise on a catamaran, swim with sea turtles, and watch the antics of hilarious green monkeys. The surf is consistently perfect for surfing , kite surfing, or windsurfing. You can watch a cricket game or play on a world class golf course. You can stroll the plantations, lush gardens or the rum distilleries. Then there are wonderful restaurants such as Oistin's Fish Fry, the Restaurant at the South Sea, and Just Grillin'. You will love it.

8. Long Island, Bahamas: We're not pushing Long Island alone. It is just an example of the Bahamian islands that are still beautiful, serene, and unspoiled by raucous crowds and unabashed commercialism. A massive spine of ancient reef gives the 80-mile island two faces: the sheer cliffs and caves of the east coast and the soft, sandy, mangrove-lined lee side which washes into the Bahamas Bank. Long Island does have numerous shallow and deep scuba diving sites. But it is best known for Dean's Blue Hole, a vast abyss that tunnels down about 600 feet.

Travel writers grow bored and jaded after seeing hundreds of beautiful island sites. However, a writer for Trip Atlas raved, "Long Island is a true hidden gem---the real paradise island of the Bahamas!" This island is also home to Columbus Point, towering memorial to Christopher Columbus, perched high atop a hill at the island's northernmost tip. You will find everything in this place: sloping hills, vast beaches, high cliffs, gardens, caves, old plantation ruins, quaint villages, and pink sand with intricate seashells.

I feel a little sorry for you now, my friend. You're going to have to choose between all these incredible places and that's the hardest part!

About the Author

Debra Fortosis is a professional travel agent. If you're seeking nightlife, casinos, attractions, malls and more, then Eleuthera is not for you. However, if you simply want to relax on a secluded pink sand beach and enjoy the sound of the ocean and the search for sells, then Eleuthera fits the bill.
Accommodations

Finding accommodations on the island of Eleuthera can be an adventure on its own. Places to stay range from modern (but small) hotels and quaint inns to renting self-catering homes or cottages. Prices range from several hundreds of dollars to under one hundred dollars per night. There are choices to fit almost every budget.

Car Rental

Even though Eleuthera has a very small population, it is a fairly large, long and narrow island. The island is approximately 100 miles long but only 2 miles wide at its widest point. So, having access to transportation is vital if you want to get around and visit any of the beaches or got to restaurants and other local attractions. Renting a car on Eleuthera will be a different experience than most people are used to. There aren't any national car rental companies. You'll be renting directly from a Bahamian business person. Most likely you'll rent a car at the airport where you arrive. If not, any hot you stay at will be able to arrange a rental for you. Usually a formal agreement isn't required by the person renting you the vehicle. The individual renting you the car may ask for some information, such as you're name and the hotel you're staying at. But, often as not, they'll hand yo the keys, give you their name and possible their card and ask you when you plan to return the card. Yes, it can be that simple. Be sure to negotiate the price of the rental. Daily rental rates can vary widely - from about $40 to $70 - depending on who you're renting from and how long you plan to keep the car. The daily rate should go down if you need the car for a week or more. Expect to pay the higher rate if you only want the car for a day or two. Be sure to have enough cash for the total of your rental cost. Don't expect credit cards to be accepted for your rental.

Getting To Eleuthera

By plane From the U.S.A. When planning to arrive in Eleuthera by air, remember there are three airports and the island is 110 miles long. Eleuthera actually has three international airports - North Eleuthera (ELH), Governor's Harbour (GHB) and Rock Sound (RSD). Be sure to pick the airport that's closest to where you're staying. Currently there are four airlines servicing Eleuthera directly from the US. Most airlines leave from Fort Lauderdale and some leave from Miami.

  * Twin Air

* Lynx Air

* Continental

* American Eagle

By plane from Nassau, Bahamas You can also arrive in the Bahamas through Nassau (NAS) and transfer to a local airline to continue on to Eleuthera.

  * BahamasAir

* Southern Air

By Fast Ferry from Nassau, Bahamas If you're coming to Eleuthera from Nassau, you have the option of using the fast ferry - The Bo Hengy. What's this tiny little island just a few hundred miles of the coast of Florida famous for? You might be surprise... The cigars, the rum, the women, the dancing, not to mention the baseball. Ohh, and don't forget about Castro.

#1. Its cigars. Cuban cigars are known worldwide as the best cigars. As the best they are also very expensive. Cuban cigars have been called the forbidden fruit because of their distinctive flavor and aroma. The Cuban government controls all cigar production in Cuba. Cuban cigars are made from tobacco, fillers, and wrappers grown, made, and manufactured in Cuba. Cuban cigars are for the most part hand rolled by master cigar rollers known as torcedores. Torcedores are considered artists in their field and are respected highly in Cuba and around the world. Although Cuban cigars are considered the best in the world they are illegal in the United States.

#2. Its Fidel. Fidel Castro has been a polarizing figure for decades. He is at the same time loved and hated by many. Fidel Castro came to power in 1959 as a result of the Cuban Revolution against U.S. backed dictator Fulgencio Batista. After the overthrow of Batista in 1959, Castro took charge of the military and soon became the next dictator of Cuba. From 1959 through 1960 Castro began to make sweeping changes throughout Cuba. Castro nationalized all industrial businesses, made agriculture into a collective community, and took control of all American-owned businesses. It was also during this time period that Castro began to cut times with the United States and form an alliance with the Soviet Union. Although Castro denied being a communist, he had effectively transformed Cuba into a communist country.

#3. Its rum. Cuban rum just as Cuban cigars is among the best in the world. Cuban rum has been called the spice of life with its smooth but strong flavor. As with Cuban cigars, rum is illegal in the United States because of the trade embargo that was enacted in 1962. Cuban rum is made from the sugarcane by-product known as molasses. This process of making rum was brought to Cuba by slaves from Africa. Cuba was the main supplier of rum in the 1700's and today the most common brand of Cuban rum is Havana Club.

#4. Its dancing. Cuba is famous for its spicy and sexy Latin dances. Picture in your mind moving passionately across the dance floor as you step in time to the beat of your dance partner's rhythm. Cuban dances are about passion and immersing yourself into the story of the dance. The word Salsa was created in New York, however the dance originated in Cuba. Salsa combines a mix of the Danzon from the French, the Rhumba from Africa, and the Son of Cuba. The Cha-Cha-Cha also originated in Cuba. The Cha-Cha-Cha is similar to the Mambo and gained fame in the early 1950's. The Cha-Cha-Cha is more sensual than the Salsa and can be more complex with its many rhythms.

#5. Its baseball. Baseball is more than just America's favorite past time. It is one of the most played sports in Cuba with a long and rich history. Baseball was brought to Cuba sometime around 1860 by Cubans who had studied and played along side sailors in the United States. Some of the greatest baseball players in the world are of Cuban Heritage. Cristobal Torriente, Martin Dihigo, and Jose Mendez are all in the Baseball Hall of Fame. Cubans have played baseball in just about every nation where baseball exists in the world. Not only have Cubans played abroad but many baseball greats from other countries have gone to Cuba to play as well.

Dan DeLa Cruz is a traveler, author, and international dating coach. He is most well known as the author of the The Global Dating Revolution a guide to foreign women and brazilian women.

Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=Dan_DeLa_Cruz

One Day Bahamas Cruise?

Thousands of tourists go on a cruise to the Bahamas each year for diverse purposes. Siena is located on three rounded hills, and the different elevations are connected by old winding alleyways and steep stairways.
Siena is a busy bustling town with much culture and history to offer. Part of the vibrancy of Siena is due to the large student population attending Siena's university, which is one of Europe's oldest, dating from 1240. The University is still one of Italy's most important, being renowned for its law and medical faculties.

The main square of Siena is the enormous, shell-shaped Piazza del Campo. This is one of the world's finest squares, housing the impressive 13th century Palazzo Publico along with the Torre del Mangia, the second-highest tower in Italy. It is also the site of the famous Palio horse race. The entire plaza is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Another great monument in Siena is the Gothic Cathedral, the Duomo, which was begun in the 1100's, with the façade completed in 1380. Contained within is the famous Gothis octagonal pulpit which is supported on lions. Also worth seeing is the church of San Domenico.

Siena also features some wonderful museums and galleries. The Museo dell'Opera dell Duomo has some of Italy's finest Gothic and Renaissance art work. The Pinacoteca Nationale features local artwork dating from the thirteenth century.

About the Author

Ian Thorson has been writing and publishing articles on the web since 2001. As much as we would like to tackle each one of those cities, our list of cities in Afghanistan would like to focus on the largest and most famous ones.

There are actually twelve areas encompassing the list of cities in Afghanistan. Our discussion will merely cover five cities. However, we would like to mention all twelve areas that are included in the list of cities in Afghanistan. These cities are Sari Pul, Ghazni, Sheberghan, Khost, Puli Khumri, Talugan, Lashkar Gah, Jalalabad, Kunduz, Mazari Sharif, Herat, Kandahar, and Kabul.

We would like to discuss first Kabul, the last one mentioned in the list of cities in Afghanistan. Kabul is actually the biggest city of Afghanistan and is, of course, considered as the nation's capital. The population is estimated to be more than two million five hundred thousand in Kabul alone. This city is actually situated in Greater Kabul. If the population of the entire Kabul is to be asked, it would probably reach an approximate of three million residents.

Kandahar is also included in the list of cities in Afghanistan and is considered as the second biggest city, next to Kabul. In 2006, its population was estimated to reach three hundred twenty four thousand eight hundred. Kandahar is situated in the south side of Afghanistan, wherein the Arghandab River is in sight.

Another area encompassing the list of cities in Afghanistan is the city of Herat. Herat has a population of three hundred ninety seven thousand four hundred fifty six, as reported in 2006, and is located in the Hari River's valley. Herat is known for its historic buildings such as the citadel which was built by Alexander the Great.

Another city in Afghanistan is the city of Mazari Sharif, which is the capital of the province of Balkh. In 2006, the estimated population of Mazari Sharif was three hundred thousand six hundred. In the center of Mazari Sharif, there is a mosque and sanctuary called the Shrine of Hazrat Ali. Others call it the Blue Mosque. In English, Mazari Sharif means Noble Shrine.

Kunduz is another city that is definitely included in the list of cities in Afghanistan. Kunduz may also be spelled as Qhunduz and is found in the northern part of the country. In 2002, the population was estimated to be ninety five thousand. Such number of population may already be considered notable as its population in 1979 was reported to be fifty three thousand two hundred fifty one only.

These are the five places included in the list of cities in Afghanistan.

Please click these links if you want to know more about llist of cities in Afghanistan or list of cities in Iraq in general.

Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=Kenny_Leones

A Very Lively Dead Sea Hotels

Israel is home to one of the most puzzling geological wonders for many scientists, the Dead Sea. I have been using his great knowledge and experience on 8 European trips in the last 9 years - his hints and hotel recommendations have been wonderful and we read his books many times prior to departure and while on the trips - some vendors even give discounts by just showing the book.

Even funnier is seeing other travelers with the same book and chatting with them over what was fun and can't miss locations. His current book Postcards is different, very different, rather than making recommendations Rick is very thoughtful and reflective in his travels (most we have been to as well). For example, Rick talk about his experiences over the years whereby Europe and some locations specifically - Rothenburg - have went from a wonderful medieval town to something more akin to Disneyland. His thoughts on Munich were right on and even his discussion on high tide and low tide in Venice is not what one would expect.

He also was caught between finding new locations and getting offers of freebies but as a writer he wants to be objective and also not creative the next big thing.

So while I enjoyed his travel books and guidance this was a different side of Rick and it was informative and a better look into what makes him such an icon in the travel world.

We will be going to Europe again in 2010 and will follow his advice with confidence.

Review by Bargains4Seniors.com Contributing Writer-Steve Kriner

Write a book review of your own or share your favorite bargains with Bargains4Seniors.com at bargains@bargains4seniors.com.

http://www.Bargains4Seniors.com is a free, age 55 and over discount and bargain destination. Whether you are planning on a long airplane ride or a long car ride, pre-planning goes a long way in keeping the children entertained and quiet.

Prepare Snacks

Children get hungry on long trips, and if you pack your own snacks, you can be sure the food is healthy, and avoid making unplanned stops along the way. Pack snacks that take a significant amount of time to eat, like trail mix or cereal, this will keep children occupied and make time seem like it is passing much faster. For the sake of your sanity and your car's interior, avoid messy snacks, or snacks that need to be eaten with a fork or spoon. . Bring something to drink as well because dry foods will inevitably bring thirst. If you partially freeze juice boxes or water bottles before you leave, you will be able to provide cold drinks without making additional stops.

Bring DVDs and Books

Depending on the age of your child, you may want to bring along some DVDs, or a protable music player. If you don't watch much television at home, then the novelty of watching TV in the car will give you miles of peaceful driving. Make a trip to the library just before your trip, but don't let the kids have the books until the trip commences. If you are concerned about losing library books, head to a bookstore instead.

Bring Along Games

There are a number of different games geared toward road trips or long plane rides. You can bring cards, puzzle books or even board games that come with magnetized pieces. It is important to note that while most of these activities are fine for plane rides, they can cause car sickness. To see if your child will be subject to car sickness during travel, experiment with shorter trips, for most children car sickness will occur within a few minutes if they are reading or keeping their mind occupied in the car.

Bring a travel pillow and blanket

Long car or plane trips may run into naptime, and can even make a child who doesn't normally nap drowsy. If you're traveling overnight with kids, the best you can hope for is that they will sleep the entire way through. If possible you can facilitate this with comfortable blankets and pillows. If you are on a plane you can ask the flight attendant for these items at the beginning of the flight so that they will be ready if ever your children need them.

Planning ahead for your trip, and packing plenty of interesting items for kids to look at and do is the key to harmonious travel. If you are bringing multiple children, consider packing a "car bag" for each, with a small snack, bottled water, and some interesting activities or books Don't forget to save a few interesting items for the return trip as well!

Denise Sanger is the owner of NewCoolToysOnline.com which features a fantastic selection of toddler toys and ride on toddler toys.
