Rider Biomechanics Seminar/Clinic with Sandy Howard!

November 16-18, 2007: Rider Biomechanics seminar with Alexsandra (Sandy) Howard. The format of this seminar will be Friday lecture with demos about rider biomechanics followed by a weekend of one-on-one lessons to address and improve each rider's position and effectiveness.

An "S" level judge, Sandy regularly conducts "L" judge learning programs as a USDF Faculty member in addition to regular judging duties. In 1990, intrigued by the questions posed during a CDS Annual Meeting lecture, she began a very rewarding collaboration with Mary Wanless on developing an advanced understanding of the biomechanics of the effective dressage seat. She clinics around the States incorporating this revolutionary approach with traditional dressage training teaching riders of all levels.

DHF's Grand Opening far exceeded our every expectation! A huge thank you to all our volunteers, lecturers, vendors, sponsors, advertisers, dressage clinician, Lebanon Chamber of Commerce, family and friends who came out to support us in this exciting endeavor. We really enjoyed meeting so many wonderful people from our local community and loved seeing the joy on the children's faces as they rode our lesson ponies. Familes were able to take a leisurly jaunt around our training track in a lovely surry carriage-carriage rides were generously donated by CR Pony Parties. The Children's Art Contest was fantistic with many amazing entries by exteremly talented young artists. We look forward to next year's entries and are considering adding an adult division due to the surprisingly high number of requests from professional artists. Yes, we are toying with the idea making a Spring Open House in conjunction with an art contest an annual event at DHF.

Thanks again to everyone involoved!

There are unlimited auditor's slots, so if you'd like to audit, dowload the auditor forms from the "Forms Page" of our Web site. The cost is $25/day for advanced registration and includes a hot, grilled lunch. Walk-in registration is $30/day and also includes the same lunch.

1st Annual Children's Equine Art Contest

Attention Artists!

The First Annual Dancing Horse Farm Children’s Equine Art Show will be held in conjunction with the Grand Opening of Dancing Horse Farm, May 2-6, 2007 and sponsored by Whimsy Hill Studio of West Alexandria, Ohio. This contest will be judged by internationally renowned sculptor, Lynda Sappington: www.TheSculptedHorse.com. There will be prizes in each category and fun for all!

Categories: 3-D Sculpture/Pottery, Photography, and Painting/Drawing
Divisions: Preschool-K, 1st-2nd, 3rd-5th, 6th-8th, 9th-12th.
Each child may enter up to three artworks. Each artwork must include at least one horse.
Deadline for receipt of artwork: April 30, 2007
Entry fee: $3. Please make checks payable to Dancing Horse Farm.

All art must be original - no coloring book pages, no models or anything made from a kit. Two-dimensional art must be ready to hang, with two screw-eyes and a wire fastened to the back of the frame. Three-dimensional art must be sturdy and weigh less than fifty pounds. Dancing Horse Farm will take the best possible care of the art, but will not be held responsible for any damaged, lost or stolen items.

The artwork will be on display at Dancing Horse Farm from May 2-6. Artists or the artist’s representative must pick up the artwork on May 6 at 5 PM or pay for return shipping.

DHF Grand Opening Announcement

The Grand Opening of Dancing Horse Farm, a premiere dressage facility in Southwestern Ohio specializing in developing horses and riders in balance and harmony, will be a five-day festival of horse activities. The events commence with an official Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony at 3 PM on Wednesday, May 2. Thursday, May 3, and Friday, May 4, FEI "O" dressage judge Linda Zang will give a dressage clinic consisting of two days of private lessons where she will focus on improving each horse and rider. Riders will have a rare opportunity to learn from one of the four Olympic level dressage judges in the United States, and auditors will get to watch the improvement process first-hand.

The Grand Opening/Open House festivities will continue through the weekend with exciting demonstrations including dressage musical freestyle and carriage driving. Carriage and pony rides will be offered, as well as numerous lectures on a wide variety of topics from conformation of the ideal dressage horse to the horse in fine art. There will be vendors, food, giveaways and fun for all!
