This took place in Italy. Unbelievable! Don't try this at home, brides.

Bride's bouquet brings down plane

The traditional throwing of a bride's bouquet for luck ended in disaster at an Italian wedding when the flowers caused a plane to crash.

The bride and groom had hired a small plane to fly past and throw the bouquet to a line of women guests, Corriere della Sera reported.

However, the flowers were sucked into the plane's engine causing it to catch fire and explode.

The aircraft plunged into a hostel. One passenger on the plane was badly hurt.

But about 50 people who had been in the hostel escaped unscathed, as did the pilot.

Entangled

The incident happened at Montioni park in Suvereto, near Livorno, where the wedding reception was being held, Corriere della Sera said.

A passenger on the aircraft, named as Isidoro Pensieri, 44, had the job of throwing the bouquet as pilot Luciano Nannelli flew past.

It is believed the bunch of flowers became entangled as it was thrown, and was sucked into one of the engines.

Ms Pensieri suffered multiple fractures and a head injury. She was taken to hospital in Grosseto by helicopter and then transferred to another in Pisa, Italian media reported.

Smooth Weddings, LLChttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02687282735842658099noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4219417130398980355.post-56065262560568640682009-07-03T12:36:00.003-04:002009-07-03T13:57:09.292-04:00<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 280px; height: 91px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_KIrA0m020L0/Sk5GQUQwjnI/AAAAAAAAAZY/ruHnXOB7DDI/s320/4th_happy_july_text.gif" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5354294253120949874" />
Wishing everyone a safe, happy and healthy 4th of July!

Off for the weekend. However, I do try to encourage my brides, if at all possible, to have their rehearsal two days prior to the wedding. Why? Because it enables the bride, groom and wedding party to be well-rested and more relaxed on their wedding day. No rushing around on the day before the wedding to get last-minute errands done and then have to rush off to the rehearsal.

Also, the day before is a great day for the bride to have a "spa" day with her bridesmaids and the guys to hang out together and play golf or have their own "spa" day. Yes, spas for guys are becoming the new trend.

Having the rehearsal two days prior also helps when you have an early morning wedding. The rehearsal dinner won't get you home late and, therefore, you can get to bed early to get a good night's rest before the big day.

So, go ahead. Plan that spa day the day before your wedding. Time will be on your side to rest, relax and have fun without having to rush to get to the rehearsal on time.

Smooth Weddings, LLChttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02687282735842658099noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4219417130398980355.post-37174078484701738302009-06-04T21:24:00.003-04:002009-06-04T21:26:35.662-04:00Last Week's Wedding<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 249px; height: 320px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_KIrA0m020L0/Sih0QqB0j9I/AAAAAAAAAYU/Z-3QyxK9jaI/s320/DSCN0062.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5343648787383750610" />
Check out the Wedding of Noreen and Daniel under "Another Smooth Wedding" listed on the left side of this page.

Enjoy!

Smooth Weddings, LLChttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02687282735842658099noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4219417130398980355.post-15286260923621527792009-05-29T15:07:00.005-04:002009-05-29T15:18:18.810-04:00Wedding Shoes<img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 164px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_KIrA0m020L0/SiA0l2BlcoI/AAAAAAAAAXA/s4w7hUML2MM/s200/Wedding+shoes_3.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5341326982823375490" /> <img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 156px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_KIrA0m020L0/SiA0iG3G0QI/AAAAAAAAAW4/GbxAwSgS75M/s200/Wedding+shoes_2.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5341326918623351042" /> <img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 163px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_KIrA0m020L0/SiA0bohMHBI/AAAAAAAAAWw/4riXl_b241s/s200/Wedding+shoes_1.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5341326807399144466" />
Hey ya'll,

I just received information on a site that sells a variety of shoes that would be perfect for any style of wedding you are having.

Check out Wedding Feet at www.weddingfeet.com/married.

Happy shopping.

(above photos courtesy of Wedding Feet)

Smooth Weddings, LLChttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02687282735842658099noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4219417130398980355.post-24935414371730281462009-05-28T20:09:00.003-04:002009-05-28T20:37:01.680-04:00Latest wedding post<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_KIrA0m020L0/Sh8uI4wMxDI/AAAAAAAAAWo/0-jkuM5iPzc/s320/DSCN0012.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5341038413293077554" />
Check it out by going under "Another Smooth Wedding" on the list on the left and click on "Wedding of Millie and Anthony."

Smooth Weddings, LLChttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02687282735842658099noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4219417130398980355.post-36417517181738389342009-05-22T17:32:00.004-04:002009-05-22T17:43:58.692-04:00Happy Memorial Day<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 100px; height: 100px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_KIrA0m020L0/ShcbGkZQN7I/AAAAAAAAAU8/sZFLMyc6NyA/s320/memorial_day_clipartth4.gif" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5338765682933774258" />
I'd like to wish everyone a very happy and healthy Memorial Day, ESPECIALLY our military personnel who are currently serving or have served in the past. Not sure what you are suppose to be doing? Well, wonder no more. A friend of mine sent me the following article which was recently published in The New York Times. I have copied the article for you below. Read and enjoy! Check out the Web sites listed in the article and have fun. Hope this will help you be a more involved groom for your wedding.

A Wedding Plan for Men
By VINCENT M. MALLOZZI
Published: May 9, 2009
FOR many bridegrooms, planning a wedding is an exercise filled with dread. For others, tasks like creating guest lists, choosing invitations and arranging the perfect honeymoon are part of the fun.
But bridegrooms on either side of the planning aisle have one thing in common: There are few places where men can go for guidance and advice on how and what to contribute to their big day. Wedding books for bridegrooms, like “The Guy’s Guide to Dating, Getting Hitched and Surviving the First Year of Marriage,” by Michael R. Crider, are scarce, and wedding magazines written for men are nonexistent. Clearly the wedding industry is designed to appeal to women.
Sean Palmgren, a 28-year-old research analyst for a marketing firm in Minneapolis, became engaged last June, and immediately began surfing the Internet for ways to help his fiancée, Betsey Krause, plan their wedding in December at a Minneapolis hotel.
“There was nothing out there for guys,” Mr. Palmgren said with a sigh. “Most everything, from magazines to wedding shows, was all about women, but I kept searching.”
Eventually, he found GroomGroove.com, a site for men that tackles such wedding-related topics as knowing if you’re ready to get married, how to pop the question, what are the bridegroom’s and best man’s duties, how to deliver a toast, how to plan a mild bachelor party, and how to plan a wild one.
“The underlying goal is to get marriages started on the right foot,” said Michael Arnot, who founded the site in 2007. “We want grooms to be really sure they are ready to get married, and if they are, to get involved with their wedding, which is a rite of passage. We men pride ourselves in never having to ask for directions. But if there’s one time to do so, this is it.”
Mike Harms, a 39-year-old director of business strategy at Microsoft in Redmond, Wash., became engaged to Shannon Truax in October. At first, he said he was “supercynical about marriage.”
“So my first response was to defer to my fiancée for all the planning,” he said. “But as we went along, I realized that I was helping her create a great experience, so I actually began to enjoy it.”
Mr. Harms, whose wedding is scheduled for Dec. 7 at the Ritz-Carlton in Sarasota, Fla., found information helpful to grooms on mywedding.com, and eventually began posting his own blogs on the site (grumpygroom.com).
“I totally understand that some grooms want nothing to do with their wedding day, but what I try to point out is that some aspects of it can actually be fun,” he said. “Personally, I have been learning through trial and error, but at this point, my responsibilities include putting together the guest list, the honeymoon, even my own bachelor party.”
Amber Haught, 21, a bride-to-be from Lower Burrell, Pa., said her fiancé, Eric Housholder, “has been a part of everything, from the catering to the flowers to my bridesmaid dresses — everything except my wedding dress.”
Ms. Haught, who is to be married June 27, said that all the extra help “is both good and bad.
“Sometimes I look at him and say, ‘Hey, I didn’t think of that.’ Other times I look at him and say ‘Are you serious?’ ”
Rob Johnsen, one of four men who founded mywedding.com seven years ago, said that “we are seeing a huge trend in grooms who are getting more involved in their own weddings.”
Mr. Johnsen, 38, whose wedding was last August, pointed out that on his site, there are roughly 100,000 links to “free wedding Web sites,” everything from simple postings to the kind of blogging done by Mr. Harms.
Sixty-five percent of those sites, he said, have been created by men.
“In American culture, weddings have always been all about the bride,” Mr. Johnsen said. “But couples are now getting married later in life and as a result, they are paying for their own weddings, as opposed to having their parents pay. So a groom making this kind of investment is more likely to take a more serious interest in the decision-making process, and that has greatly contributed to the trend.”

Smooth Weddings, LLChttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02687282735842658099noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4219417130398980355.post-74891475574081223482009-05-09T10:34:00.002-04:002009-05-09T10:41:46.608-04:00Wedding DayWow! I actually do have time to do a last-minute blog post. I finished all the flowers last night and got to bed earlier than I expected - around 12:30am.

This morning, I carefully packed the centerpieces in boxes, printed out last-minute updates, remembered to pack up more items I need and am dressed, ready to go. I am just waiting until just before it's time for me to leave before I pack the grapes and cheese into the Goodie Boxes.

My DH helped me tremendously last night with stuffing the rose petals into their cones and finished packing up the Goodie Boxes.

Waiting for him to return home now with the children who participated in a 5K run this morning. He's going to help me pack up the bouquets, bouts, corsages and altar arrangements I need to take to the church as well as the Goodie Boxes and several other wedding items. Whew! After last night, my body feels like I have already done the wedding. It will be a long, but wonderful day for my bride and groom.

Look for the wedding post sometime after I recover. Then, it will be time to work on my next wedding. Tis the season.

Smooth Weddings, LLChttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02687282735842658099noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4219417130398980355.post-85072693459299515952009-05-08T13:48:00.002-04:002009-05-08T13:53:10.140-04:00Wedding Week - Final EntryFriday

Assembling bouquets, boutonnieres, altar arrangements and centerpieces. Whew! Also have to finish putting the monogrammed stickers on the rose petal cones and stuff them with the rose petals.

Other client just picked up their linen rentals.

Rehearsal later at 4:30pm. Will I be done in time? Nope. I’ll finish whatever’s left to do tonight. I may be burning the midnight oil tonight. Scratch that. I WILL be burning the midnight oil, for sure.

Saturday – Wedding Day

Doubt I’ll get a chance to blog tomorrow, so thought I would do it now while I’m taking a short break.

In the morning, I have to finish stuffing the Goodie Boxes with the perishable items which are grapes and cheese. Then, it will be time for load-in. Need to load the flowers for the ceremony (DH is delivering the centerpieces, cake topper and rose petal cones to the reception site later), birdcage for wedding cards, vases and sand for the unity sand ceremony, flower girl basket, ring bearer pillow and memorial vases. Will I ever be done? Not until sometime after midnight when the reception ends.

I’ll post pictures next week along with the details for the wedding.

I will be crashing on Mother's Day!

Have a great weekend!

Smooth Weddings, LLChttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02687282735842658099noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4219417130398980355.post-73424891679414929032009-05-07T17:05:00.001-04:002009-05-07T17:05:40.096-04:00Wedding WeekThursday

Picked up rose petals (they didn’t arrive yesterday afterall), picked up flowers and attended final planning meeting with my clients and the reception site. I'll post a picture later.

My bride will be coming over today to drop off the menu cards, favors and stickers I need to seal the personalized rose petal cones I made for the toss when they leave the reception.

I will be calling the bakery to confirm delivery time of the wedding cake.

All in all, a very busy day.

Smooth Weddings, LLChttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02687282735842658099noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4219417130398980355.post-78721488697289700552009-05-05T14:50:00.003-04:002009-05-05T15:01:18.935-04:00Wedding WeekMonday and Tuesday

I have a wedding this Saturday, so I thought I would give you a “snapshot” of what I do to prepare for a wedding I am coordinating.

I was hired nine months ago to help this bride plan and coordinate her wedding. Can’t believe it’s almost here. I’m sure she can’t either. At the time she hired me, she had already found and reserved the church and reception site. She also found the bakery she wanted to do her wedding cake. I researched and hired the photographer and videographer. I am also doing her flowers and handling all her rental items. I am so excited!

Yesterday, I reviewed and finalized all details. I printed out the itinerary for the wedding party which I will give to them at the rehearsal this Friday. This will tell the wedding party where and when they need to arrive at the church, when photos will take place and a general order of the ceremony as well as the reception. This also has all of my contact info so they will be able to reach me should they have any questions or need anything on the wedding day.

I sent my bride many e-mails with reminders of various items that she needs to take care of this week.

I went through all my checklists ensuring everything is done that needs to be done or still needs to be done prior to Saturday.

Today

I am sending out detailed schedules to all the vendors so everyone will be on the same page. As with the wedding party, this schedule has the times and order of events for the ceremony and reception. My schedules are so detailed, my vendors rarely have questions.

My bride is using the Adesso albums for her guest books. To save money, we are also renting the Polaroid cameras from Adesso. I need to pick them up tomorrow as well as the purple sparkle crepe overlays we are using for the guest tables.

More tomorrow.

Smooth Weddings, LLChttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02687282735842658099noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4219417130398980355.post-32742139497817352472009-04-14T15:30:00.003-04:002009-04-14T15:36:08.771-04:00Impress Your Guests with Your First Dance!<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 71px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_KIrA0m020L0/SeTlJkKU32I/AAAAAAAAAUM/kyzjSb0xhws/s320/Wedding+Dance+Specialists+header.gif" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5324632611947339618" />
Want to see what it’s like to have that perfect “First Dance?” Attend The Wedding Dance Specialists Wedding Dance Workshop next month.

You will see sample slow dances perfect for love songs, learn the fundamentals of partner dancing as well as meeting other engaged couples. So, this post has nothing to do with weddings. But, it does have to do with something else I love and that is – chocolate! Yes, I confess I am a chocoholic. It’s a disease I have lived with as long as I can remember. I am not looking for a cure anytime soon. I live, breathe and eat chocolate 24/7. Well, maybe not that much because I can’t while I’m sleeping, but almost. I do, at least, have some form of chocolate everyday.

A friend of mine e-mailed me the other day with a chocolate cake recipe that you can make and be eating, literally, in five minutes! No lie. Little did she know I would go nuts over it. Maybe you’ve heard of it already. It’s called “5 Minute Chocolate Mug Cake.” Recipe follows at the end of this post.

As soon as I read the recipe and saw how easy it was, I immediately made it and made two because I wanted to share it with my family later that night for dessert. I had a large mug that when I cut the cake in half, it was still a generous portion to serve. I actually could have eaten the whole mug of cake myself, but I wanted my family to indulge my disease with me that night. I didn’t have any icing on hand, so I just drizzled chocolate syrup over it. Mmmmmm! It’s not “Death by Chocolate” good, but it is certainly good enough to satisfy my chocolate fix for the day or, at least, for that moment.

For all my fellow chocoholics, I wanted to share this recipe with you, so you could have your chocolate fix for the day, too.

I was going to take a picture to show you, but I ate it too fast.

So, what are you waiting for? It’s only five minutes away!

5 MINUTE CHOCOLATE MUG CAKE

4 tablespoons flour
4 tablespoons sugar
2 tablespoons cocoa
1 egg
3 tablespoons milk
3 tablespoons oil
3 tablespoons chocolate chips (optional)
A small splash of vanilla extract
1 large coffee mug

Add dry ingredients to mug, and mix well.
Add the egg and mix thoroughly.
Pour in the milk and oil and mix well.
Add the chocolate chips (if using) and vanilla extract, and mix again.
Put your mug in the microwave and cook for 3 minutes at 1000 watts.
The cake will rise over the top of the mug, but don't be alarmed!
Allow to cool a little, and tip out onto a plate if desired.
EAT!
(this can serve 2 if you want to share)

Smooth Weddings, LLChttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02687282735842658099noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4219417130398980355.post-3499019848408911942009-03-19T13:00:00.006-04:002009-03-19T13:09:23.842-04:00New Ideas for Bridesmaids and Groomsmen GiftsSo, I was just surfing the zappos.com site just to look for inspiration and new ideas for bridesmaids and groomsmen gifts and I found these wonderful things.

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 240px; height: 240px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_KIrA0m020L0/ScJ6sXQ265I/AAAAAAAAAS0/SJyWbOseuC8/s320/Vera+Wang+Princess+gift+set.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5314945412828162962" />How about giving your “princesses” aka bridesmaids a little “Princess” fragrance gift pack from Vera Wang? These were designed “for a modern princess with a unique sense of style and total zest for life.” Doesn’t that describe the ladies standing up for you at your upcoming wedding? They sell for $78 and zappos.com is offering FREE shipping. How can you pass that up?

If that’s not appealing to you, how about a beautiful satin clutch from Jessica McClintock? These particular ones come in five different colors: pink, champ, silver, sage and ivory. There are also other styles and colors available. The one I have pictured is only $36.<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 136px; height: 102px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_KIrA0m020L0/ScJ8JhvXv9I/AAAAAAAAATU/UNk-T27sCGM/s400/Jessica+McClintock+clutch+purse.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5314947013368332242" />

For the guys, how about “Black” by Kenneth Cole? <img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 240px; height: 240px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_KIrA0m020L0/ScJ7KI_QWWI/AAAAAAAAATE/AZ1hC0RFIcQ/s320/Kenneth+Cole+Black+fragrance+set.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5314945924392311138" />“Black is bold. Black is masculine. Black is timeless.” This set goes for $65.

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 240px; height: 240px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_KIrA0m020L0/ScJ7Y6hvU7I/AAAAAAAAATM/CzBiuRde1VA/s320/Vera+Wang+fragrance+set+for+men.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5314946178208453554" />Or, another choice for the guys is Vera Wang for Men. It “…exudes the seductive and masculine aura of oriental aromatics for the man of impeccable taste and refinement.” The price is $72.

Again, all these items from zappos.com includes FREE shipping. Envelopes weighing 1oz – 2oz will be increased from $0.59 to $0.61.

What does this mean for you as a bride? It means if you are planning to mail your invitations after May 11 or your response date is after May 11 (you will be putting postage on your response envelopes, right?), you will need to either purchase the “Forever” stamps now to keep your postage at $0.42 or you will need to purchase stamps at the new rate of $0.44.

If you don’t want your invitations to be mailed with a Liberty Bell as your stamp, (not very “weddingish,” is it?) the USPS is releasing two new wedding stamps in the designs pictured below. The wedding rings will be available at the new rate of $0.44 intended to use for your response cards or very light invitations. The wedding cake will be available at the new rate of $0.61 intended to use for the heavier weight of invitations or oversized cards.

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 128px; height: 102px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_KIrA0m020L0/ScALK9L6OBI/AAAAAAAAASk/iRkl8F_swTk/s200/Wedding+rings+postage+stamp.bmp" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5314259843148298258" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 87px; height: 115px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_KIrA0m020L0/ScALYWQOlBI/AAAAAAAAASs/2s47Qmb5dfw/s200/Wedding+cake+postage+stamp.bmp" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5314260073215595538" />
So, make sure you plan accordingly and always take a completed wedding invitation to the post office first to weigh it to ensure you do purchase the correct postage.

Happy stamping!

Smooth Weddings, LLChttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02687282735842658099noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4219417130398980355.post-90441224588671616082009-03-05T15:09:00.005-05:002009-03-05T15:28:01.735-05:00Must See! They specialize in social media marketing. Olaf Leikvoll, Director of Catering Sales and Katie Kulp, Catering Sales Executive for Bethesda North Marriott gave us the tour of their new additions which included a Presidential Suite for $1,750 per night. We also saw one of their conference hospitality suites and a standard suite. They were all beautifully decorated and included every amenity you could think of. Luxurious!

After the tour, we then went back down to a section of the Grand Ballroom where the Executive Chef, David Creamer, showed off some of their new specialty menu items. We didn’t get to sample those, but we did get to sample the desserts, which were delicious! Beautiful presentations on all the food – almost looked too good to eat. I have to say I was quite impressed with the new look. The entrance into the hotel and lobby look completely different. They have replaced all guest room windows, re-designed the entrance with a modernly designed porte cochere to give their guests “an impressive and welcoming sense of arrival.” They have upgraded all the bedding in the guestrooms with lush, pillow-top mattresses, installed all new carpeting, wall coverings and new paint throughout.
<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 133px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_KIrA0m020L0/SaC58Y1xPwI/AAAAAAAAARk/E_g1h2zc-LY/s200/AllNewHolidayInnGaithersburg+pictures-6.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5305444808153710338" />
The Holiday Inn Gaithersburg has also “gone green” by installing fluorescent and LED lighting in their building interior spaces and building signs, replaced guestroom showerheads and toilets with low-flow models and have placed recycling bins in the public spaces as well as in the guest rooms, plus much more.

Check out their Web site at: www.higaithersburg.com to read all about their “new” look. You’ll be pleasantly surprised. You may want to consider having your wedding reception, rehearsal dinner or out of town guests stay at the "new" Holiday Inn Gaithersburg.

Smooth Weddings, LLChttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02687282735842658099noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4219417130398980355.post-8563826680676108362009-02-10T23:36:00.004-05:002009-02-10T23:44:46.712-05:00To Change or Not to Change<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 188px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_KIrA0m020L0/SZJWNoXNQlI/AAAAAAAAARE/wLaCgIX3Q0Q/s320/Vera+Wang+dresses.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5301394503541539410" />
One of the latest trends today is finding brides changing into a more comfortable or sexy gown for the reception. They wear the more traditional gown for the ceremony and sometime before or during the reception, they change into something a little bit more lively, sexy and/or comfortable. You probably have seen many celebrity brides do this.

Maybe you just absolutely loved two gowns that you just had to have both. Or maybe it’s a cultural thing. You might be marrying into a culture that wears a different type of “wedding dress.” You would wear the traditional one for the ceremony and the “cultural” style dress for the reception out of respect for your new husband’s culture. It usually is more colorful and, therefore, you would really stand out at the reception and end up with fabulous photos.

However, before setting your mind (and money) on two dresses, consider that staying in that beautiful gown you have been dreaming about may well be worth keeping with one dress. You probably already spent a lot of money on it, wouldn’t you want to wear it as long as possible?

But, if you have your heart and mind set on doing the “change thing,” then think about the following factors in considering a “reception gown.”

• Is the gown comfortable for dancing?
• Will I need to change into different undergarments, shoes, or accessories?
• Will my hair be “mussed” by changing into the second gown? Or, can I simply let it down and put a beautiful hairclip on?

When should I change into the second gown? You may choose to do it during the cocktail hour so you are in your new gown when you and your husband make your grand entrance into the reception. Or, you could wait to change after your first dance. Whenever you decide to make the change, plan ahead. Have a separate room available close by so you don’t have to waste too much time getting to and from the changing room. It’s no easy task removing a wedding dress quickly, so have your bridesmaids help you. Having your ladies there with you will help you change faster so you can get back to the reception before your guests even know you are gone.

Now, if you love the idea of having two dresses, but it is just out of the question, budget-wise, there are still ways you can change the way you look from your ceremony to your reception. If you are wearing a veil, remove it. I did for my reception. You could buy a wedding dress with a detachable train. Depending upon how the dress is made, having the train removed can really make your gown look totally different and guests may think you actually did change into a different gown.

Consider all your options before making your final decision.

(photo above from Vera Wang on Weddings)

Smooth Weddings, LLChttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02687282735842658099noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4219417130398980355.post-28626435819179114432009-02-06T13:00:00.005-05:002009-02-06T13:33:30.115-05:00Photobooths at Your Reception<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 245px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_KIrA0m020L0/SYyCY6v0eRI/AAAAAAAAAQ8/yUO7hZnuMjU/s320/IMG_5490.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5299754226106530066" />
You've seen them in malls, maybe recently at a friend's wedding. I'm talking about the photobooth where you go in and have about four to five pictures taken really fast. Wait a few minutes and out pop your strip of small photos.

Well, now there is a new photobooth in town. Maryland-based company, Booth-O-Rama, has designed and built their own photobooth. This baby is 4' wide and can take up to 12 people at a time, and instead of getting that strip of small photos, you get hi-resolution, 4 x 6 prints in just under 12 seconds. It is 100% digital, professional grade equipment.

All photobooth rentals include: delivery, setup, and breakdown, unlimited usage and prints for up to four hours, a personalized banner with your names and wedding date on each print, on-site photobooth attendant and a password protected online gallery of all photos from your reception. For an additional fee, you could have an extra hour, double prints, all images on a CD and an on-site scrapbook to use as your photo guestbook.

It also makes a unique favor for all your guests. Wouldn't this be so much fun?

Smooth Weddings, LLChttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02687282735842658099noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4219417130398980355.post-78122263577409838352009-02-05T16:30:00.006-05:002009-02-05T16:38:18.652-05:00Great Place to Buy Wedding Items or Sell Your 20 Leftover Centerpiece Vases<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 265px; height: 93px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_KIrA0m020L0/SYtbt_TmNaI/AAAAAAAAAQ0/dLQ2JtfzAFQ/s320/BravoBride+logo.bmp" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5299430232177391010" />I just discovered BravoBride.com. This is an online site where you can buy and sell new and pre-owned wedding items. You can shop for designer dresses, accessories, favors, even engagement rings, plus much, much more.

If you want to sell anything, they allow you to list your items for FREE. How can it get better than that? In today’s economy, who couldn’t use a little FREE every now and then.

Another great thing about using BravoBride is that they donate a percentage of their proceeds to the American Heart Association’s Go Red for Women Campaign.

You are also “going green” by purchasing items at a great price by making the choice to “re-use and pass along.”

I think I’ll look through some of my leftover wedding stuff and see if I can sell it to someone who needs it for their wedding.

Happy shopping. Let me know if you find a great deal.

Smooth Weddings, LLChttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02687282735842658099noreply@blogger.com0
