What is that?

You may ask surely we need as the good book says in 1 Corinthians chpt 13 vv11 "When I was a child, I spoke like a child, thought like a child, and reasoned like a child. I gave up childish things when I became a man.That is true, but your childhood holds the key to your future development - The trait to ask questions that are conflict managing type questions in our quest for knowledge to achieve our life goals.

You may think that you still ask questions every day, but what sort of questions are they the conflict managing type. Have you ever talked to yourself. What about when there is an unexpected knock at the door, do you catch yourself saying in your head or outloud - "Now who can that be?"?"

Now go on admit it you talk to yourself. You could probably at this moment be saying inside your head, "No I don't, do I?"

When the phone rings have you ever caught yourself saying out loud, "I wonder who is ringing at this time of night?"

There are of course those natural external questions such as when you meet someone and ask, "How are you?" most of the time you do not wait for a reply as you do not really ask questions to get a reply but out of common courtesy.

Now compare those questions to when a children ask questions, they almost demands answers by using questions that start with, who, what, where, when, how and why. They cry out for answers to increase their knowledge by asking open questions and demanding the answers.

In adulthood we feel the fear that in asking conflict managing questions, we appear ignorant, how many times when you have been listening at a seminar or other training course and you have nodded intelligently when you haven't got the foggiest notion what the speaker was talking about.

In listening to a speaker you place your own interpretation on the words you think you hear, the problem is the speaker also places his interpretation on the words which may be different from yours leading to misunderstanding and conflict.

Your misinterpretation is often caused by the workings of your inner mind, when you hear a word or collection of words, your inner mind needs to explore the recesses of your memory to find those words in your knowledge base and then set them against the experience you were subjected to that placed a meaning on those words into your memory.

The speaker also in searching for the correct words to use lets his inner mind search the recesses of his memory to uncover an experience he had related to or exactly the same as what he was trying to convey through his words. If you have a similar experience in your past lives there is harmony and understanding but if you have a totally different experience there is misunderstanding a need for conflict resolution.

Let me give you an example. What image springs into your mind when you hear the word 'pen'? We think in pictures not words. Let us say that you are using or have just used a biro pen, you would probably see the image of that pen in your mind, however, if my experience was to always use a fountain pen that is the image I was trying to portray through my words.

Now the resolving conflict that may occur between the interpretation of the word pen may not be catastrophic, but unless we ask conflict managing questions; when we do not understand what is being said we will live in conflict, leading to stress and breakdown or relationships both socially and career wise.

Going back to our child analogy, the other trait in a child's questions that we must return to is persistence. How many times does a child ask a question - until it understands the answer? Now how many times do you ask a question and stop asking in case you look a fool before you understand the answer.

As Luke chpt 11 vv9 says "Ask and you shall receive."

Do notfeel the fear, ask, ask, ask and even ask again until you understand he who thinks you are a fool for doing so is the bigger fool who wishes not to be understood.

COCOA-COVERED IMMIGRANTS FOUND

Fifteen suspected illegal immigrants were found covered in cocoa powder in the back of a lorry when it arrived at a Mars factory, police say.

Officers were called to the site in Slough, Berkshire, after staff discovered the stowaways in the back of a 37-tonne tanker.

It had been delivering chocolate ingredients to the confectionery firm which produces bars such as Mars, Snickers and Twix.

The 15 men, who were all aged between 20 and 40, were examined by ambulance staff before being arrested, Thames Valley Police said.

They were were "physically fine", a spokesman said.

Three other men on a second lorry which was not going to the factory were also detained.

A spokesman for the UK Border Agency confirmed that 18 men in total were arrested and those found at the Mars site were "covered in cocoa powder".

A Mars spokesperson said: "We can confirm that a number of people were found hiding in a tanker operated by a third party haulier that had arrived at our factory in Slough to deliver raw materials.

"We immediately informed the Thames Valley police who are now investigating the matter.

"In view of the police involvement, you will understand that we cannot comment further."

This magical scene is the latest work of 'Pavement Picasso' Julian Beever, who creates 3D images with chalk.

The 49-year-old Briton, now based in Belgium, took two days to draw it on a shopping street in Brussels.

The girl holding the carrot is his two-year-old daughter Jane while the boy apparently pushing a giant snowball is his five-year-old nephew Louis Dutoit.

Beever said his greatest fear when drawing the scene was that it would actually snow.

'That would have washed away days of work and it was forecast at one point. On both days the temperature was down to zero.

'But I wanted to take Christmas to the heart of Europe and thought the Snowman could spread the message with his Daily Mail.'

MYSTERY LIGHTS OVER THE MIDLANDS

A "spectacular" display of dozens of UFOs has been reported in the skies over the West Midlands.

Eyewitnesses told Sky News that up to 70 bright circular objects could be seen near Halesowen.

Stunned residents watched in disbelief, convinced they were viewing an extra-terrestrial spectacle.

Each object was encircled with lights and had lights in the middle, according to witness Steven Randall who lives in Halesowen with is wife and three children.

He said: "This was incredible and so spectacular. The lights seem to climb into the sky to the north of us, just before 8pm last night.

"A neighbour had shouted for us to come and look. There were so many objects. From a distance they looked like bubbles rising in a fizzy drink.

"Then they came towards us and flew right over the top. Some were so close they were almost touching and were only a hundred feet or so above us.

"The objects were absolutely silent and travelling at probably twice the speed of a normal aircraft.

"They were all circular and had 13 to 15 lights around the rim. Each had lights in the centre which were flashing on and off. They went south at a terrific speed."

Birmingham International airport is to the east of the sightings, but according to Mr Randall, the flight path comes nowhere near the houses.

"Aircraft are not allowed to fly over this area. We regularly see air traffic in the distance and I can assure you that this was something very different," he said.

Air traffic control at Birmingham International airport had nothing on their radar to suggest anything out of the ordinary.

A Ministry of Defence spokesman said that independent experts have concluded there are straightforward explanations behind alleged UFO reports, such as aircraft lights or natural phenomena.

Reports of UFOs were examined by the MoD solely to establish whether UK airspace may have been compromised by hostile or unauthorised military activity.

If required, sighting reports are examined with the assistance of the Department's air defence experts. Unless there is evidence of a potential threat, no further work is undertaken to identify the nature of each sighting reported.

The MoD has no other interest or role regarding UFO matters and does not consider questions regarding the existence or otherwise of extraterrestrial life-forms.

Eyewitness Steve Randall believes defence officials will be very interested when they see the video.

DEADLY SPIDER IN CO-OP BANANAS

A cashier felt the hairs on the back of her neck stand on end after discovering a deadly South American banana spider nestling in a bunch of bananas.

The highly-venomous arachnid was spotted by Kate Whitmore, 25, as she unpacked a box of fruit to put on display at the Co-op store in Wayfield Road, Chatham, Kent.

The palm-sized eight-legged creature, otherwise known as Phoneutria nigriventer, ranks alongside the black widow and funnel-web as one of the world's most dangerous spiders.

Recalling the close encounter during her Monday night shift, Ms Whitmore said: "I lifted the lid off the box, ripped the bag open and in the very first bunch I noticed something.

"I picked the bunch up, held it close to my face and thought, 'What is that?' It wasn't a very nice spider."

After alerting her supervisor, the shop was promptly closed while the RSPCA was called out. They were advised to keep the spider contained and not approach it until the animal collection officer arrived.

Mother-of-two Ms Whitmore said: "He lifted the separate bunch off with leather gloves and put it in a box which had a separate container. He asked to borrow a pen and as he nudged it to try to move it into the container, the spider reared up, hissing and put its fangs out. It made us all jump."

RSPCA officer Anthony Pulfer said: "It was very aggressive and trying to go for me when I was putting it in the box. It was really jumping around and trying to attack me."

Ms Whitmore added: "We had customers coming in saying, 'We'll kill it for you, it's only a spider'. We thought, 'If you knew exactly what it was like you wouldn't'."

The banana spider was eventually taken away to be put down.

PATRIARCH OF MCENROE CLAN SAYS HE IS READY TO SERVE

A few years after he retired from practicing law for a major New York firm in 2000, John P. McEnroe entertained the notion of going into the thriving family business — talking tennis, the subject of a lifetime, on television.

The way he figured it, what did his ubiquitous sons, John and Patrick, know that John P. (the P could stand for patriarch of a famous American tennis family) did not?

"Well, I made some contacts and then they heard about it," he said. "They called me, upset. They said, 'What do you think you're doing?' And then John went on television and said, 'My dad's going through a midlife crisis.' He said, 'Two's company, three's a crowd.' I got the message."

Now 73, John P. McEnroe still handling contracts for his sons' multiple employment affiliations and interests, still contemplating a professional future during his early-morning walks around the Central Park reservoir, the elder statesman of the McEnroe clan has focused on a new career path all his own.

Let John and Patrick be driving voices and forces in American tennis. Dad (the man in the family box in the floppy white hat, to a generation of tennis fans) will run the world.

Is it ever a surprise when a job vacancy arises in tennis and a McEnroe presents himself as a candidate to fill it? It is in this case. John P. has set his sights on replacing Étienne de Villiers as the executive chairman and president of the Association of Tennis Professionals, or ATP, the governing body of the men's tour.

He is serious enough about this to have written a letter to leading tennis administrators, agents and players, announcing him ready, willing and, with his family and law background, "the most qualified man for this particular job."

In his letter, John P. McEnroe has cited his experience representing what he called the "quintessential quintet" of his son John, Bjorn Borg, Vitas Gerulaitis, Jimmy Connors and Guillermo Vilas in their early 1980s battles with tennis authorities. He is mindful of how the contemporary superstars — Rafael Nadal, Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic — have recently made noise about their displeasure with tour scheduling and requirements.

McEnroe says the top players have been "very badly served" by de Villiers, especially in the area of forcing them to play a minimum number of tournaments. He says that leads to physical breakdowns and shortened careers.

"An abomination," he wrote, in a tone not unlike a certain effusive left-hander, the winner of seven major championships and perhaps the most stubbornly opinionated athlete of his time.

De Villiers is expected to serve until year's end. As McEnroe understands it, the ATP board of directors, consisting of representatives of the players and the tour events, will choose the replacement. Larry Scott, the chief executive of the Women's Tennis Association, has been mentioned as a top candidate, leading to speculation that the men's and women's tours may eventually merge.

"That would be great for the women, terrible for the men," John P. McEnroe said.

He said that since writing the letter, he had had chats with some ATP insiders regarding his ambition. He has addressed the age issue — one blogger has labeled him McCainenroe — by floating the idea of a two-year contract, with one-year renewals provided all parties wanted him to continue past 75.

"No one has told me, 'You're crazy,' " he said. "And no one has done a handstand and said, 'You're a slam dunk.' "

As for John and Patrick, he said they told him, in so many words, go for it. Run the world. Just stay out of the booth.

"Russian Foreign Ministry said on Friday that U.S. Vice President Dick Cheney was encouraging Georgian aggression by supporting Tbilisi's bid to join the NATO military alliance.

Cheney told Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili on Thursday that the United States was fully committed to Georgia's bid to join NATO.

'The new promises to Tbilisi relating to the speedy membership of NATO simply strengthen the Saakashvili regime's dangerous feeling of impunity and encourages its dangerous ambitions,' Russian Foreign Ministry spokesman Andrei Nesterenko told reporters.

Nesterenko said the arrival in a Georgian port of the USS Mount Whitney, a sophisticated command warship, may breach a 1936 convention on naval activity in the Black Sea, but he ruled out any military action by Russian forces over its presence.

'Should the convention be violated, then the issue should probably be considered by the United Nations or other international organisations because we are talking about violations of a well-known international agreement,' he said.

'We are not talking about any possibility of military actions,' Nesterenko said.

The Mount Whitney dropped anchor off Georgia's Black Sea port of Poti on Friday with more than 17 tonnes of aid, including blankets, juice, powdered milk and hygiene products, the U.S. Navy said in a statement."

David Letterman wants to stick with CBS' 'Late Show' through his contract as rival Jay Leno prepares to surrender the 'Tonight' reins next year.

There are basically two types of bloggers in the world - reporters and experts - and some people perform both roles (usually the experts, it's hard for reporters to become experts, but it's easy for experts to report).

Three horses have been found dead in the grounds of the home of a family of three who remain unaccounted for following a suspected arson attack.

Christopher Foster, his wife Jillian and teenage daughter Kirsty, are missing after the Shropshire fire.

Police said two dogs had also gone missing from kennels at the property, Osbaston House, near Maesbrook.

West Mercia Police said it was waiting for the house to be declared safe so officers could enter it.

It is not yet known if the missing family were in the house at the time of the fire, which began shortly after 0500 BST on Tuesday.

Police have appealed for the family or anyone who may have seen them over the Bank Holiday weekend to get in touch urgently.
