New Tweet Button, up and running

As yet I have no idea how to make it a look a little more seamless with post content, but I have no added a "Tweet" button to the blog posts. If you love it, hate it, don't care, feel free to let me know. It's an experiment for now to see if people use it and how it works out.

Before I could even finish typing this someone is using it, so it may work out well :) The only thing I hate is that it uses RT @tweetme right now. I wish it would RT @wendyyoung so I would know!

Simpsons Scavenger Hunt: Bones Included

Beginning November 9th, Fox will feather a scavenger hunt across all primetime shows in celebration of The Simpsons 20th year. That means there will be hidden Simpsons references throughout all the shows, including Bones. You can watch a video featuring John Francis Daley, Michaela Conlin, Tamara Taylor, and a few Bones clips on the Fox website.

Caleb Deschanl - Lifetime Achievement Award

The American Society of Cinematographers has chosen Caleb Deschanel (father of Emily Deschanel) to receive a lifetime achievement award. You can read all about it here. at the LATimes blog. Thanks, Mickey!

Meeting Allentown, PA Native Michaela Conlin

The Allentown, PA newspaper has a great article on Michaela Conlin. She is an Allentown, PA native and they certainly are proud of her success!

It's nice to see some more background information on Michaela. As the article points out, she gets 3rd billing on the show. But it's hard when 3rd is 1st assistant/runner-up to David Boreanaz and Emily Deschanel. The show would definitely miss a massive chunk of it's heart without her.

31 Memorable Halloween Episodes

Premium Hollywood has ranked 31 memorable Halloween episodes. "The Mummy in the Maze" (one of my top Bones faves) comes in at #7.

7. Bones, “The Mummy in the Maze”: Booth and Brennan are called in to investigate after the mummified remains of a teenage girl are found in a Halloween-themed maze. Then the mummified remains of another teenage girl are found at a Halloween amusement park funhouse. Basically, when the team finds out a third teenage girl is missing, they realize that they’ve got an Oct. 31st deadline. But who am I kidding? The best bit about this episode is seeing Emily Deschanel filling out a Wonder Woman costume.

Time for Vampires: David Boreanaz Angel Reunion

Edit: David isn't appearing. It's basically a 'rerun' of a past appearance. Sorry!

Much is said about David Boreanaz and his unwillingness to constantly talk about his past role as Angel. Apparently, that isn't set in stone.

Saturday, November 14th, David Boreanaz is set to appear at the Paley Center with Joss Whedon for an Angel reunion and screening as the center spends 3 days exploring vampires and their resurgence on the screen. Buffy will also be addressed, on Friday November 13th, but it doesn't look like he will be attending that one.

LA Times TV Critic Talks About the TV Shows She Loves

LA Time TV Critic Mary McNamara lists the TV shows she'd watch even if she weren't getting paid to do it. Bones is 4th on her "with the kids" list:

How much is Castle really like Bones?

A couple of days ago Hart Hanson tweeted the this message:

My first reaction was to chuckle.

But that didn't last long. I actually love Castle. And Warehouse 13. And I missed the X-Files train but I like watching it too when I can. I used to watch Law and Order: SVU. And I love Sam and Jack from Stargate: SG-1. Heck, I even watched Moonlighting growing up!

Do I think Bones does it best? Definitely. Do I think Bones owns the rights, lock stock and barrel, to evil-fighting male/female partnerships? No.

What makes the Castle/Bones comparisons so persistent? If you actually watch the show do you think to yourself "I'm watching the same thing I do on Thursdays?" I know I don't. I am just curious what people use to define the idea that these two shows are exactly the same and that Bones 'did it first' so why watch part deux?

Last March, thanks largely to Milky, we had a great post here discussing how Bones truly compares to Moonlighting and The Thin Man.

If the subject interests you, I have been sent various links that extend the discussion nicely. They range from a few weeks to a few years old but together paint an interesting picture of the TV landscape and make a nice argument in favor of TV couples.

The UNC Chapel Hill newspaper blog has a full list of TV show procedurals, breaking down the ones to try, ones to discard and the ones to keep (with some in-betweens). Guess which show tops the keepers list?

CSI? nope

NCIS? nope (though it's a close 2nd)

Bones is the keeper of all keepers, according to this author.

If “NCIS” is the best of CBS’s procedural dramas, “Bones” is the best procedural, period. Like “NCIS,” “Bones” has found that success lies in capitalizing on the supporting cast. The audience can appreciate every character on “Bones” because they are well written and amusing, and somehow manage to make terms like “calcium hydroxylapatite” pertinent to us. By focusing on the characters and their relationships, the hour feels more personable than any that CBS brings us. Plus, there’s always the guarantee of gross-out shots of decaying bodies!
The main draw of the show, however, is the sexual tension between Brennan (Emily Deschenal) and Booth (David Boreanaz), both of whom work the longing stare and hidden smiles well enough to create the best will-they-won’t-they dynamic this side of Ross and Rachel.
Bottom line: If you watch one procedural this season, let it be “Bones.” (Just don’t watch while eating dinner. You will lose your appetite.)

Baseball cushion for Bones?

If you look at upcoming TV listings, between the sites TVCountdown and The Futon Critic you can get a picture of a possible cushion Bones has built in, just in case baseball knocks out the November 5th Bones episode.

It seems they are planning on airing 2 episodes of Bones on Thursday November 19th. I think it will be up to the extent of the baseball interruption to determine whether that will be a rerun at 9 or a 2nd new episode. (If we miss Bones on 11-5 then we'll make it up by having 2 new episodes on 11-19.)

At least that won't push the season back or start rumors we're the show will lose one of it's ordered episodes! I personally hope baseball is decided quickly and we get a nice 1/week pace through Christmas.
