TV on the Radio in my Movie.

So most know that I'm a big TV on the Radio (TVotR) fan. Well like 2 months ago Corey and I watched this movie called Jump Tomorrow. It was a cute indie movie that was pretty funny. Well the lead guy in it resembled the lead singer from TVotR. Corey was like, that's that guy from that band you like so much. Me being the eternal know-it-all, vehemently denied it. I thought, yeah he looks like him but there's no way this actor is the same guy. So I denied it. Joked with Corey that "not all black people look alike". (You've seen my husband right?)

Well cut to today. Watching Rachel getting Married which was okay, but the same guy from Jump Tomorrow was in this movie. His name is Tunde Adebimpe. So at the end of the movie, Tunde's character sings at the wedding. During the song I didn't say anything, but thought "crap, it is that guy!" So after the movie ended, I grabbed my phone and went directly to IMDB.

And yea, under the trivia it listed 2 things:

Graduate of NYU's film school.

Member of New York-based band TV on the Radio.

So, I was wrong. Corey was right.

Are blogs dead?

I know mine is. With facebook, twitter, and countless other communication devices how can one keep up? I think I'm a detriment to my own public. I like to think that there are some mysteries still available and I plan to explore them.

It's October. I know, I know, everyone always says, were does the time go? It's easy. Work, school, life. bye bye time! We are approaching some of my favorite holidays.

Halloween, Wedding Anniversary, Thanksgiving, Christmas. I hope to get to see you (yes you my friends) between now and the end of this year.

(scale update! I'm down 35 lbs now!!!!!!! GO ME! I'm serious, everytime I put on a pair of pants, I get happy! I look like a baggy bum [except the ones that my mom has taken in for me] and I LOVE IT!)

We got power on Saturday night when we were in Austin watching Pinback (great great show by the way). Corey's cousin called and told us.

So we spent Sunday night in the house again since a whole week of being at the parents. I love my parents and since Thursday we had the house to ourselves (besides us dog-sitting) but there is NOTHING like your own house.

YEAH power! sweet sweet electricity. how I missed thee.

1. state troopers in the middle of nowhere are lazy. they make you come to them to give YOU a ticket. They don't even get out of the car.

2. El Paso is soooooooooo fahhhhh.

3. White Sands was soooo cool

4. When you are on vacation, you can eat anything you want. Don't ask me why. it's science.

Lately I have been not only pulling in some really great new music, but dusting off some old CDs I haven't spun in a long long time. I went through a phase where I ripped what I thought was every CD I owned to my iPod. While searching youtube I stumbled back onto some old footage of FigDish.

FigDish was this great great band from Chicago that never got the exposure they sorely deserved. This was circa 1995.

I found them because they opened up for The Muffs back in 1994. Well I realized I missed ripping that CD. Terrible mistake on my part.

Well another CD that I did have on my iPod but hadn't listened to in a while was Weezer's - Blue Album.

Ever hear a song that takes you back to your youth? Like teenage youth, prior to bills, prior to mortgage payments and 80 hour weeks?

When the only things on your battle plan was to enjoy summer vacation, hang with your girlfriends and crush on the local boys?

Only in Dreams by Weezer is that song.

What a month! May was a busy busy month!

No school thankfully but work has been on my ass! I have been putting in about 50+ hours a week and between, work, home and working out I have been seriously lacking time!

Good news though I have lost about 17 pounds since January (I started working out in May but I didn't know my beginning weight except for when I went to the doctor in January!) I am sure it has been 17 since the beginning of May.

Just cutting my portions and running like hell at 6 AM everyday. It's too hot to run after work.

Mates of state was excellent!!!!!

I will have a review of that in the next post.

Bar Golf 1560 event. phenomenal! I can't wait till the next one.

I've gotten some serious pool time in which is great.

Iron man was really really good last night. Thanks to Alan for the heads up on staying till after the credits were done. Bravo on Nick Fury and the sneak peek at the Avengers. The newest Hulk movie will have Tony Stark in it since the Hulk was part of the Avengers. Corey seems to think there will be a new Captain America movie but doesn't have high hopes for it.

Corey and I had seen recently, "A Guide to recognizing your saints" and I thought Robert Downey Jr was good albeit a small part. THose that know, know I love Jon Favereau and his pick of PDJ was a very good choice. The writing was good and who doesn't love the idea of a sexy playboy turned good?

This movie I wouldn't mind seeing again.

Here is the gist of the spring break trip:
Sat-landed in LA (LATE)
Sun-saw Hollywood
Mon-saw Venice, Santa Monica, Malibu
Tues- boarded train to SLO, spend day in SLO
Wed-drove up the 1 -Pacific Coast Highway to San Francisco, arrived in SF. hotel was in Chinatown and went shopping and ate great food.
Thur-spend the day seeing San Francisco and sites. rode the bay cruise to see Alcatraz and the Golden Gate close up.
Fri - drove down to Santa Clara and San Jose and flew back home. (early)

Aztec Cocoa.

SO DELICIOUS. You don't even have to be Mexican to enjoy it.

Here's a recipe for it:

INGREDIENTS:

* 1 2/3 cups milk
* 1/2 vanilla bean, split lengthwise
* 1 red chili pepper, split with seeds removed
* 1 cinnamon stick, around 3-4"
* 1 1/2 oz chocolate (bittersweet)

PREPARATION:
Simmer milk in a saucepan with vanilla bean, cinnamon and chili. Heat through for about a minute. Whisk in grated chocolate, and continue to simmer until melted. Remove from heat and let 'steep' for another 10 minutes.
Strain out the spices and serve. Serves 2.

If you are lazy like me you can try this:

and add some Cayenne or Chili pepper to it as the spice that is automatically included isn't quite spicy enough for my tastes.

Tonight VH1 Classic is airing "Nirvana Unplugged". Oh my children. This is essential Valeria-101, age 16 (and 17). I had devoted my life to music and Nirvana was in the top 3. This show had me in tears it was so beautiful. It was also funny and personal.
Great, great, great.
The show was recorded 14 years ago. It seems like yesterday. seriously. It also opened my eyes to other bands that I had or hadn't heard of at the time. David Bowie, Meat Puppets and LedBelly. It's nice when you get insight to what your idols love.

You need to tune in and see it if you've never experienced it. The album that was created from the recording is an essential own as well.

Today my car got hit. While it was parked. An elderly co-worker hit my car while trying to park next to my Jelly.

So now I've got to get it fixed. Which means I'll be out of my car and in a rental for a week. BOOHOO!

I love deleted scenes on nbc.com. 2 from last weeks episode "Branch Wars" had me in tears I was laughing so hard. Because I have classes after work on Thursdays and I don't get home till 10, I usually have The Office night on Friday. I used to buy the episodes on iTunes. Now, I get them for free online. I still want them on my iPod but now I can buy them all at once instead of episode by episode.

Andy tries to buy his way into the Finer Things Club. Only to get waitlisted! Which is fine with him. As he admits this is how he got into Cornell! He's smart enough to have a dad who donates buildings to things!! Look at that face! I love Andy! He's so great. One of my favorite episodes of last year is when Jim hid Andy's phone in the ceiling and Andy went CRAZY!!!!
My other favorite is Dwight's face with the fake moustache. He looks like he needs to be in a barbershop quartet! Wearing a red striped vest and singing "Sweet Adeline". HA!
Moustache rides anyone? OH YEAH!
This fake moustache reminds me of the Burger King moustache commercial for the western burger. I even made one for me! (see pic) You could go to the website and make one yourself.
Also, in the extra scene, you will note that Dwight say he "cut a chunk out of his penis for nothing."
NO! I assume it was when the copier landed on them. too funny.
