Hello to Everyone

All's good over here as I hope it is with you.

Not sure about you, but I'm forever forgetting what the date is, no matter how many times I have to fill in various forms needing today's date - I still forget. I thought it would be handy to have a "Full Year Calendar" somewhere right in front of where I work.

I've come up with this idea, I wanted to make my "Yearly Calendar" interesting as it'll be something sitting or hanging in front of me for twelve months, all the images are taken from my Original Home Decor series of paintings

Along the way I fine tuned my idea a bit and decided not to properly staple and finish the calendar into the frame, which means I will be offering new version Calendars every year, all you have to do by bending the little tabs at the back, is take ~2010~ out and replace it with ~2011~ Easy!

Each Yearly Calendar comes mounted on a 3mm mdf board, so it's not just a piece of flimsy paper, but a proper mounted print, which if you like, you can highlight or mark dates on

I was planning on doing a few different themes - time permitting.. will see how these ones go first I think

I also have some lovely hand glittered, limited edition gift cards in stock - Love working on these ones - finding it hard to make the glitter sparkle in my photos, never mind, I think you get the idea

She finds Sea Shells

Hello and thanks for coming over

I've been very picky with my Treasure Hunting lately, I'm constantly trying to declutter, the house, my little corner studio and I guess my mind .. as in always thinking I need to do this that and the other thing!
So I've been pondering every purchase I make:
You know - Am I just buying it cause it's cheap?, Will I use it?, Can I sell it?, Can I give it a revamp and paint something on it and make a profit? Do I need it? (although daughter Ellie tells me it's not about need, it's about want)

I did fully justify these Sea Shells I found at the Trash and Treasure Market on the weekend.

Not sure about everywhere else, but around here, it is illegal to take shells from the beach.....ssshhhh....don't let on.... that most of us, at sometime have been guilty of slipping the odd shell into our beach bag or pocket. Do you remember as kids, when we didn't have all the rules and regulations, collecting bucket fulls of beautiful shells even sea horses and sea urchins not forgetting starfish, I never see anything interesting on my beach walks these days...do you?...maybe drift wood and sea glass, which is interesting I might add

So for 20 cents each I couldn't pass these up.

The lady I bought them from had lived in Portland, Victoria...

I'm going to display and enjoy them, better still I'll use them for subjects when I paint - done and justified!

The vintage silver cake stand I've displayed them on, is one I've had stored at the back of a cupboard for years - I must have known ages ago that I loved the tarnished look - that's why I haven't been polishing it!....sounds good to me

I haven't been neglecting my Roses

I've finished quite a few timber boxes and storage/display thingies this week. I'm thrilled to say they have all been very popular, the latest one in the photo above is "On Hold". I'm pleased to say I've pretty much exhausted my supply of boxes at the moment - another declutter project crossed off the list, so will be on the look out for more to revamp, mental note to myself to get Tony on the job too - but we need to be selective!

Dress Form

Hello to Everyone

Thought I'd do a post on a few of my latest paintings I've been working on

I bought the Dress Form you can see in the photo below from a Garage Sale ages ago, it's in good condition, apart from the rivet thingys rusting and snapping off.

Anyway was inspired to use the shape of the dress form in one of my Original Whimsical Paintings. I was going to keep to the original colours of the dress form - you know washed out greys/browns - it just seemed a bit dowdy for what I had in mind, so ended up with lovely tones of soft greens and pinks

Chinese Serving Dishes

Hi All

Hope everyone is well and happy!
I came across these Silver Chinese Serving Dishes at a Garage Sale, it was at the end of day and I'd pretty much spent all my money, I had enough money to buy one, but there were three available, so after scrounging around in my bag I came up with just enough to buy two. I love them, the previous owner says they are Silver, but I can't see any markings, I love them slightly tarnished, or is that because I hate polishing silver?

I'd be interested if anyone had any clues on them, I have tried to research them, but came to a dead end

I'm doing this Post through a different Browser to my normal - the photos aren't doing what they're told....so will just press the Publish Post button now and be done with it!

Ellie's Pink Shoes

Thanks for coming over to visit, the main reason for this post is to say I'm really fed up with Blogger at the moment, every time I try to leave comments on blogs, I get timed out. Not quite sure what's going on, I do understand about clearing this that and the other thing from my browsing history and I am a very good housekeeper computer wise, regarding my bug scanning. I'm thinking it's the time of the year when everything is overloaded, anyway, please don't think me rude for not visiting - I'm sure it will come good soon

Our first market for 2010

Hi All

Just posting a few photos from our market today, being the first market for 2010 I thought it could do with a bit of recognition.

It was forecast to be very warm, wasn't too bad though, we're lucky as our Stall backs onto the actual Racecourse, no other stalls behind us, we usually get a nice breeze coming through, although that can have it's down side in winter

Tony sold his bench you see in the photo above, I should have taken a side on shot, as the sides are made from louvre doors, it looks fabulous

I've somehow managed to cut off the bottom of this large bench in the photo above, the top he's used is a lovely natural silvery timber, you have to be quick with the photos, sort of do them in between the crowds walking past - remembering big crowds at a market don't necessarily mean big sales!

I liked the colour Tony painted this one in the photo above, sometimes too much white can be a little overwhelming, nice to have a contrast.

Now this market is over, we'll be stocking up our website over the next few days.

We're planning on doing Flemington market sometime in the very near future (Hi Debbie, I may finally get to meet you in person)

Hope you've had a Happy Festive Season
I always feel, now we don't have kids on School Holidays, after New Year's Day things are pretty much back to Full Steam Ahead, only Tony and I at home now, so we will try and have a break away later on in the year when things are less hectic, in fact we're planning a combined selling holiday trip - let's hope it works out - sounds heavenly to me.

I've have been busily painting away, I've managed to finish these two, the one above is painted on a solid timber door

Welcome 2010

Hope you've survived the New Year's Eve Celebrations?
Very quiet for Tony and I this Year, spent the night at home eating cold chicken and salad and of course a few celebration drinks.
It's been so hot here over the last few days, thankfully the cool change has arrived.

Thank you all for your comments on my previous post, for those that asked my new camera is a Canon digital IXUS 95IS, certainly not a fancy top of the range model, but for the money I had to spend and the functions I needed to suit me, it's perfect, very user friendly, I've yet to sit down and read the manual - what??....not read a manual...??, anyway would highly recommend this one

Anyway for some reason Guss doesn't shy away from this camera as he did with my others, I couldn't resist loading on the photo of him above, not sure if he's exhausted from the hot weather and couldn't be bothered moving or just likes getting his photo taken with my new "Green" Canon Camera?

Thank you all for taking the time to leave comments on my blog posts, I've appreciated each and every one.

I think I may have missed out visiting and returning blog comments and I do apologise, I've had ongoing computer issues over the past month, I think I may have solved the problem, if not this poor old faithful computer may have to be put into retirement, sad to think as it's been a good friend to me over the years

We had a wonderful Christmas Day, a light lunch at our house before everyone went their separate ways for Christmas Dinner.

I bought the sticky balloon kit from National Geographic, it was a bit of fun

This was poor old Guss when we were eating our lunch, you can't see in the photo, but he had tinsel and ribbon drapped around him in every direction - exhausted he was!

With my Christmas vouchers and money, I went and invested in a new camera, the photo above was my very first shot - oh I'm so excited, it's going to be wonderful to snap shots and not have to spend hours editing them, the ones below are test shots for me, so please don't bother looking if you can't be bothered, I was more interested to see how they turned out once uploaded

I'm putting thought into New Year's Resolutions, I'll be first making a list what I'm grateful for in 2010, I'll then start working on my goals, they're going to be realistic goals this year, not ones that make me feel disappointed in myself for not achieving, everyone to their own methods!

Last Market before Christmas

I need to do a swag of some kind hanging down from the mantel maybe, to my arrangement in the photo above? - it will come to me, but I do want to keep it simple, any ideas please?, no I don't want Christmas Stockings

As I've had a few ladies asking me, thought I'd do a quick post to say we will be doing Boneo Market tomorrow, tomorrow being Saturday the 19th of December, it's at the Boneo Primary School

We have special Christmas "Magnetic Art" and also loads of cello packed ready to frame prints, these are very affordable and make wonderful gifts

I'm very much looking forward next week to a few days tidying up and decorating for Christmas around our house. Ellie came today and moved out the last of her bits and pieces so I now have loads to do as my brother and his family will come and stay with us Christmas Eve, which means we get to wake up with two very excited little girls Christmas Morning, then my Dad and of course our two and their partners come too - can't wait for it all to happen now. To be quite honest our Christmas Day plans have been a little up in the air, you know how it goes, family issues and misunderstandings, everyone going in all sorts of directions - anyway seems to all work out OK in the end doesn't it

I bought loads of these sweet little pre tied red ribbons from the Op Shop for next to nothing, love the simplicity of them

Anyway won't go on about Christmas decorating, I'm sure you're all feeling a little over it -

Guss Loves Santa

I've just added some photos of my substitute Christmas tree I made this afternoon, I picked a load of Cyprus Tree Branches from our tree, covered a plastic bucket with hessian , wired the branches together and hung some decorations.

Why is it so hard to take good photos of Christmas Trees?, mine looks quite effective in real life but in my photos it looks boring

Hi All

We've had a busy week trying to finish orders, preparing for the Market and then actually doing the Market today and daughter moving out of home, I haven't even thought of Christmas Shopping - won't we all sigh with relief on Boxing Day?

Ellie moved out of home on Wednesday, so it's officially Tony and I and the pets at home now, although I did happen to adopt a new family member at a Garage Sale on Saturday, I couldn't resist him.

Meet Santa

He doesn't cost anything to feed

He doesn't answer me back

He wears the same clothes everyday, no washing required

He dances and sings at the flick of a switch and shuts off at the flick of a switch!

Really what more could you want?

I've always wanted one of these dancing, singing Santas, he comes with a Microphone, which means you can sing along with him, Guss loves him, although when I bought him home, I carried him inside over my shoulder with his arm dangling over my back, Guss growled at him, I think he thought Santa was attacking me

This is how we spent our first Saturday Night together as "Empty Nester's" - yeah, having a bit of fun with Santa and the pets!

I did think this year I wouldn't bother with a tree, we like a real Christmas Tree, so I thought with Santa and decorations that would be enough, but no, Tony says he wants a tree - moan groan, we have Cyprus Trees around our fence, I wonder if a few branches arranged in a tub would be a good substitute

I love my Basket

How are you all going?

We've got lots of things happening down here, daughter Ellie moves into her first home this week - how strange it will be, just Tony and I and of course the pets, we have had that before as both kids moved out at one stage, but then Ellie came back home to live, this time though, she's gone for good! Thankfully she's moving not to far away, we can still have our shopping and walking time together and of course family dinners, we were just saying how hard it must be for those moving interstate or overseas - don't want to think about that one yet.

Been busy with Christmas Markets, so far we've been lucky with the weather, only two more markets to go, so have been trying to create some new bits and pieces, sort of juggling between markets and newies on our website. Of course have been going junkiing, although I've been picky with what I buy, really over having clutter around me, but I couldn't resist this silvery vintage Baker's Basket, it was only $5.00, not sure where it will end up, maybe Magazines or I desperately need somewhere to store my Recipe Books in the Kitchen, the Recipe Books I never look at, if I need a recipe, which isn't often as I make things up as I go along, but if I do need a recipe I tend to GOOGLE it!

Felt inspired to paint something with Lavender after buying the basket

Have been working on some Magnetic Art for our Market this Sunday, they're only little and look so cute arranged on the fridge, Ellie's already claimed quite a few for her new home

Loved working on the two new original paintings below, they're painted on canvas stretchers and ready to hang, if they sell well I'm planning on doing a series - how much fun that would be!

Firstly, thanks so much for those who went over and voted for Guss the upside down doggie - he's extremely grateful for your efforts. Was just a bit of fun, not really sure what we'd do with the month's worth of free dog food if he happened to win, which is unlikely anyway, as Guss is on special diet pescription canned food - for sensitive tummies!

The main reason I'm posting tonight is cause I've had to activate comment verification on my posts - I really didn't want to do it, I think it spoils the feel of blogging, but unfortunately I've had way too many comments left lately from undesirable websites, you know the ones wanting you to try and buy certain enhancement aids!

I've also had computer problems this week, so am a little behind on things, I've had the dreaded "Blue Screen of Death" I think that's what it's called, I hope it's fixed now, fingers crossed anyway, turns out it may have been cause I've been leaving my Memory Stick in it's little possie all the time, apparantely it's not what you should do - well not on a system like mine anyway (as in my lowish RAM - memory.......blah blah blah!!!)

Of course I can't do a blog post without photos, so will add a few of my latest Whimsical Home Decor originals.

My Garage Sale find

Hi to everyone

We've had perfect weather here this weekend. Very grateful to have a rain free day for our market today, although I forgot my sunscreen and got a little bit burnt.

I just wanted to show you this sweet little vintage table I bought yesterday at a garage sale, love the genuine chippy colour all those under layers of paint peeping through, the timber top is weathered and silvery, it needs clamping and gluing, I'll do it myself, if I give it to Tony to do I fear I'll never see the table again - I know him, he'll sell it!!

I decided to put it in the bathroom, with towels and a jug full of beautiful Pink Roses I bought at the market today, really didn't need to be moving furniture around after loading our market goodies into the van today, but you know how it gets - I must warn everyone not to sit on my little treasure to dry their toes until I've done some repairs on it - could turn out to be disastrous!!

It's creeping up

Hi all!
Like everyone, I just can't believe Christmas is so close, I guess I'm feeling it even more as we only have a few markets left before Christmas. For anyone living in Victoria the other indication that the big day is nearly upon us, is when Melbourne Cup Day has come and gone. Speaking of Ellie our daughter didn't get to go to the Melbourne Cup, but went to our "Peninsula Cup" which was held on the Sunday at Mornington Racecourse, of course I took loads of photos, not realising when I positioned her in front of our "Rose Blooms" her Fascinator would be lost in amongst the blooms...goodness me our garden needs some attention, it's so overgrown, how did that happen?

So I've confused myself trying to paint an assortment of subjects for the Christmas Markets and of course for our Website....not sure where I'm headed at the moment, I bet many of you out there know the feeling.....or is it just me?

Hi everyone

Just thought I'd report in and quickly load my just very latest, still wet, Christmas painting on to this blog post

I decided to put Monday aside for a bit of Home Revamping

I've been wanting to paint the wall behind our little stairway up to our Loft bedroom for ages, Yah!! it happened!! Once again my camera isn't the best, but it does look so, so much better. I've hung some of my originals up on the walls - for the time being anyway, they are up for sale on our website, but why not enjoy them for now.

The before photos, really not so bad, but I've decided I want something a little more stream line, all one colour, uncluttered but then again not too clinical, still love my roses and pinks, just cause you go for uncluttered doesn't mean you have to part with your roses, favourite china, etc. etc......, our house is very, very....hmm what would you say???.....oldish, newish in some parts

Guss has a special couch under the stairs, it's his nightime bed, he seems quite happy with the wall colour

I thought too, I'd like to share with you a gorgeous new shop on the Sunshine Coast of Queensland Australia.

"Marsel on Seaside" has only just opened it's doors - I know Margaret has been working so hard to have her dream come true shop open for Christmas

Our Pink Market Day

Hi there and thanks for coming over!
We're just back from doing our Special Pink Market Day. I believe most of the Pink Ribbon Merchandise sold out, which was wonderful. The stall holders were encouraged to dress in Pink, there's Tony below, I kinda think pink suits him?

I hadn't realised until yesterday we were encouraged to dress up in pink, which was my own fault, I should have read the news letters properly! I luckily had a pink tee shirt which I printed red shoes on from a scan I'd taken from one of my original paintings, of course I had pink beads, belt and jacket in my wardrobe - as you do!

Tony specialy made a pink bench for the occasion, doesn't he do a wonderful display!

A little hard to see in my photos, but there were pink balloons and streamers everywhere, quite a few of the customers wore pink too

I have been badly negelecting my website over the past few weeks, with no markets this weekend, I'll be restocking the website over the next few days.

That's about be for now, I'm so tired after today I can hardly walk, we're out for dinner tonight, hopefully I'll pep up by then.

Pink Market for Charity

I've somehow managed to flood the house with fresh flowers, herbs, foliage - I've run out of containers and vases - love taking photos of the roses and filing them away for inspiration when I'm painting

My dreadful camera

Hi there and thanks for coming over
Just thought I'd share with you my frustrations over my dreadful camera - then I thought, really it's been a wonderful camera considering its age - hate to think how old it is, it certainly is way better than my other newer one.

Here's what I have to do to take a photo which will hopefully turn out to be close to a true colour of my original artwork I'm photographing

I use a white Styrofoam fruit box, probably not the perfect thing to use, but I can't see myself making one of those photo cubes - so this was my substitute. If the weather is bad I have to be really fast taking my photos, a sudden gust of wind can destroy my little setup!

Once the photos are taken, I then have to edit them in photo shop, re size etc. etc....all part of it isn't it, I must say I do enjoy the process, just wish one day soon I can upgrade to a more up to date camera

Here's another one I've just finished, I've put this one on the fence to take the photo, just prayed the wind didn't blow up all of a sudden, before I clicked on the camera, I would hate to see that beautiful vintage frame shatter to pieces - all good though

Assorted Lavender on a Shelf

I've been working on something a little different today - it was a treat to paint this one, I'd bought a beautiful little bunch of lavender from our local Farmer's Market on Saturday morning, the scent was lovely as I was painting.

I've had the recycled timber frame for a little while, humming and harring (is that how you spell harring, come to think of it is harring a word??) on what to paint in it, thought the colour of the lavender in my painting and the lovely old paint layers of the recycled timber used to make the frame would work well together

In the photo below the frame looks very Yellow looking, it's not really it's quite creamy, just the light where I had to take the photo, it's started pouring with rain here, barely any natural light left

Notice the recycled timber has slight hints of lavender appearing

Thanks so much for your positive vibes for our market on Sunday - they seemed to have certainly done the trick, we did have a good day, perfect weather and sales were good.

Christmas is creeping up - scary isn't it, only a few more markets to go, so thought I better get to work and paint a few new Christmas originals.

I've just listed my newly finished original painting on ebay - now I must say that was a bit of a challenge, I haven't listed anything on ebay for many, many, many months - I somehow lost my ebay template, after being able to list on ebay with my eyes closed years ago - nah! wasn't like that this time - anyway it eventually came back to me and I did manage to find my template in amongst my ever growing number of files - I bet you know about that!

I will have prints available of the painting at some stage - I loved working on this one - painting in all the details of the Christmas decorations and ribbons on the presents etc. etc. - it was magical, I could have gone on and on...

Hello and thanks for coming over

Just thought I'd do a quick post - haven't really got any exciting news, just a few bits and pieces I've been working on for our market tomorrow - it's at Mornington Racecourse and if you happened to be in the area we would love you to drop in and say Hello! - here's the details if you're interested....it's going to be a wonderful sunny, mild day tomorrow!

I specially painted this larger sized painting for our market but couldn't resist listing it on the website, if it's not sold tonight, then it comes to the market with us.

I decided I'd like a tee shirt for me with my roses featured on the front, thought it might be quirky to wear at the market, along the way I've made a few for our market too - see how they go

I have some lovely new card designs ready too - also listed on our website

Thank you all so much for your comments you left on my last blog post. I bet now I've mentioned this Vitamin D test they seem to routinely do, you'll be hearing more and more about it, would love to know if you do.
It wasn't I went to the Doctor cause I was feeling poorly, quite the opposite - was just the regular two yearly girly side of things check up, you know those ones we just avoid and put off. My doctor always does these routine blood tests, you know cholesterol, iron..... all things that can be fixed if the results aren't right, by diet, exercise, vitamin supplements or whatever, best to find out now and not wait till, say your bones are disintegrating, or you have a stroke cause your cholesterol is high etc. etc. - Geez don't I sound like doom and gloom!! - nah not at all!!

OK onto to other things now

We did have a market today at Red Hill, I'm sorry I didn't get to go, well no not sorry for me, as it was lovely to get some orders and packing and posting done for the website, I also looked at a few garage sales on my way to the Post Office - as you do of course.

I obtained the wrought iron garden seat below - I loved it, put my lovely yellow themed Laura Ashley cushions on it ready to have a little bit of a read in the sunshine, which I'm meant to do cause I need my dose of Vitamin D - Tony came home and took it to take up to his Store and sell - boo hoo for me, but never mind cause really I didn't have the room to keep it!
