The academic year will start with a five week discussion of "The Shack". The first session will be Sept. 17. This popular volume has a great deal to say about how we see the Trinity, suffering, and redemption.

"The Shack" will be followed by a six week exploration of the book titled "Listening to the Heartbeat of God." As we discuss this volume we will be introduced to several of the central tenets of Celtic Christianity. This introduction will go a long way toward explaining the unique nature of
Anglican theology, and how our church sees the world.

In January we will pick our study up again with the volume "The Lost History of Christianity". This book explores the 1,000 year flowering of Christianity in the Middle East and Asia, and its death around the year 1,000 AD. We will be introduced to the little told story of ancient Christianity in Iraq, Iran, Mongolia, and China.

Our monthly Wednesday evening group will meet each second Wednesday of the month at 7:00PM in the Undercroft. The first session will be September 9th. This year we will explore "Engaging the Word". The book is a volume in the "Episcopal Churhes Teaching Series". As we read and discuss we will be introduced to a way of reading and understanding scripture. Theses tools will help those who want to spend more time with their Bible and come away with more from their reading.

Everyone is asked to order their own copies of these books from their favorite book seller. Please go to our parish website; navigate to Ministries, Christian Education, Adult Education, St. Peter's Adult education Calendar for more information on these books and a copy of this schedule.

St. Peter's By-the-Sea Sitka AKhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12403005171487377265noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4119080474072081506.post-21580122295677788152009-06-24T12:28:00.000-07:002009-06-24T12:30:28.616-07:00June 28 Scripture Readings4 Pentecost
First Reading - 2 Samuel 1:1, 17-27
Psalm 130
Second Reading - 2 Corinthians 8:7-15
Gospel - Mark 5:21-43

St. Peter's By-the-Sea Sitka AKhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12403005171487377265noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4119080474072081506.post-9204608645498151922009-06-17T14:52:00.000-07:002009-06-17T14:55:27.050-07:00Vacation Bible SchoolThere will a VBS meeting on Thursday June 25, 7pm, at the United Methodist Church.
VBS is August 3-7
For more information call Janice Michael at 747-8358

St. Peter's By-the-Sea Sitka AKhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12403005171487377265noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4119080474072081506.post-84651763962869833472009-06-17T14:50:00.000-07:002009-06-17T14:52:13.296-07:00June 21 Scripture ReadingsFirst reading - 1 Samuel 17:1a-49
Psalm - 9:9-20
Second reading - 2 Corinthians 6:1-13
Gospel - Mark 4:35-41

St. Peter's By-the-Sea Sitka AKhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12403005171487377265noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4119080474072081506.post-20655164943614178552009-06-10T11:55:00.000-07:002009-06-10T11:57:15.859-07:00June 14 Scripture ReadingsFirst Reading: 1 Samuel 15:34 - 16:13
Psalm 20
Second Reading: 2 Corinthians 5:6-10[11-13] 14-17
Gospel: Mark 4:26-34

St. Peter's By-the-Sea Sitka AKhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12403005171487377265noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4119080474072081506.post-10113563329451587082009-05-26T11:27:00.000-07:002009-05-26T11:29:10.781-07:00Let's Talk about RecyclingThe ECW will host a gathering with speaker Norm Campbell from Recycle Sitka. This procession took place the Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday before Ascension Day.

As our procession walks the boundaries of the church property, we are symbolically circumnavigating the boundaries of our parish. This includes the islands of Baranof, Biorka, Chichagof, and the water between.

The procession will take place immediately following the 11:00 Eucharist.

St. Peter's By-the-Sea Sitka AKhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12403005171487377265noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4119080474072081506.post-64302777143786254662009-04-21T14:00:00.001-07:002009-04-21T14:07:01.580-07:00Aoril 25 and 26The Southeast Deanery Convocation begins on Thursday April 23 and goes through Sunday the 26th.

At 5:00 pm Saturday evening there will a potluck and talent show.
