It was a fun, quick knit. Ulmus is now done and blocking.I still haven't finalized my camp knitting. My room is being re-done (painted and maybe the floors redone) while I am away and I have had to clean out my room. Was a long job, found yarn I had forgotten I had bought. I really don't need to buy any ever Suzannehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03626726339137099699noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4090287.post-973350070409895582009-06-28T16:50:00.002-04:002009-06-28T17:23:52.351-04:00Old Shale Shawl This is the Old Shale Shawl that was in Spin-Off magazine. I used some Frog Tree Alpaca from the stash. I have finished the Flower Basket shawl/scarf today and it is now blocking. I used a heavier weight yarn and size 10 needles. I did 6 repeats of the pattern for the scarf though it only called for 4. I think I would have run out of yarn if I tried to do a 7th. It measures about sixty Suzannehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03626726339137099699noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4090287.post-46057084193023805382009-06-15T18:24:00.002-04:002009-06-15T19:03:38.601-04:00Meret Beret Here's another Meret Beret. This one is for a co-worker for her birthday. I have cast on a scarf sized Flower Basket shawl/scarf by Fiber Trends for her next. My computer is acting up so I can't update anything on Ravelry. It does this every now and then and then it will start working again. If it still doesn't work tomorrow, I will delete all the cookies and stuff on the computer even Suzannehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03626726339137099699noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4090287.post-47122270500594046072009-06-07T18:34:00.003-04:002009-06-07T19:54:03.257-04:00I'm One! Kayla is now 1. She was born the first week in June according to the rescue I took her home from. This picture was taken in the middle of May. I still call them the kittens but they are both one now. Neither one is as large as the 17 year old male is though Kayla is tubby and Juliet is long and lean.As for knitting, I finished a Meret beret today and it is blocking. I still haven't blockedSuzannehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03626726339137099699noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4090287.post-81883154069540475762009-06-03T18:37:00.002-04:002009-06-03T19:09:19.231-04:00FO - Daisy Cardigan This is called the Daisy Cardigan but I forgot all about embroidering some flowers on it. I was so happy is done and now mailed off. I have lots more kids stuff planned but in different yarns and colors besides white and pink. The cardigan was also supposed to have picot edges but they just didn't look right so I just went with some easy rolled edges. I also just put on crochet ties instead Suzannehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03626726339137099699noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4090287.post-91411102273995584272009-06-01T18:24:00.002-04:002009-06-01T18:59:31.183-04:00Loopy Groupie I ordered from Loopy Ewe last week and must have hit the magic number because I got the Loopy Groupie package. A calender, skein of sock yarn, sock pattern, tote bag and a little bag of hershey's kisses. Along with that was the skein of yarn that I bought (for another Ulmus) and a Knitspot pattern.I finished the baby sweater and it has been mailed off, pictures soon. You alternate 2 skeins of fingering weight yarn. I am using a multi-color by The Painted Sheep and an Araucania Ranco Solid. It is a fun knit and I have yarn ready for another one. It is my work knitting for now until it gets too big.Suzannehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03626726339137099699noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4090287.post-77406748374362259862009-05-25T12:44:00.002-04:002009-05-25T13:09:28.115-04:00Happy Memorial Day A co-worker received these flowers on Administrative Professionals Day. They were the most beautiful flowers I have seen in a while. The colors were so vibrant, just gorgeous. I grabbed my camera and told her I just had to take pictures of her flowers. She took them home that day so I was glad I did.I did a quick trip to MA Sheep and Wool on Saturday and then stopped at Webs on my way home.Suzannehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03626726339137099699noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4090287.post-50028983009566363772009-05-17T18:18:00.002-04:002009-05-17T18:57:29.225-04:00Catnip Mice, finally done and being enjoyed I have been slowly cleaning up my room (tons of yarn and patterns laying around) so that it can be painted. I found the bag of catnip mice and sewed and stuffed them this afternoon. They were a hit with the kittens. The old cat (going to be 17) couldn't be bothered with them. For other knitting, my work shawl (Old Shale from Spin Off) has about 20 rows or less left to knit. I hope to finish Suzannehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03626726339137099699noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4090287.post-29945267809770906452009-05-10T18:38:00.003-04:002009-05-10T19:09:36.351-04:00Happy Mother's Day These were one of the items I gave my mother for Mother's Day. She collects puffins and when I saw these stitch markers, I had to get them. She will probably put one on a chain and wear it as a necklace. They are by Weeones Creations on Etsy. Not too much knitting going on. Last weekend the oldest kitten, Juliet turned one so all three cats received a treat of canned food. Was a quick knit and will be a b-day gift for a co-worker. I plan to make a few more for a few more co-workers. It's good to use up an extra skein or two in the stash.I went to CT Sheep and Wool on Saturday. For the first time, I brought along my mother. Both of my parents have been going to Rhinebeck with me. They like the cooking demonstrations there. It took 2 skeins (I don't think there was more than a yard or so left). I had 3 and was happy not to have to even touch the 3rd. It is knit like a smaller narrow shawl and then there is the button added. It was a fun knit for Malabrigo March. I also finished another Calorimetry but probably won't postSuzannehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03626726339137099699noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4090287.post-22589442108141291182009-04-13T18:38:00.002-04:002009-04-13T19:29:18.539-04:00Easter Flowers The yellow tulips on the left are from my ex BIL to my mother. The ones on the right my mother bought at church. My ex BIL came for Easter dinner yesterday and also bought yellow tulips for my sister (his ex wife). She passed away last night at home. She had been sick for a few months. Not sure what exactly as she had been going to the vet monthly and then weekly at the end. Blood tests, xrays, ultra sounds. Vet thought Hepatitis, then not. She had thyroid problems, mange a few years ago. There were some sort of kidney or liver issues. She will be one in June. This was taken in the middle of January. She must weigh twice what Juliet, the older kitten weighs.Knitting is happening at home but no pictures. I have the front and back of the little white tee out of acrylic done. I changed it to have a real placket as the pattern has a fake one. I made this one out of some Brown Sheep Lambs Pride Superwash. I want to say the color is Provencial Rose which I love but I don't have the ball bands near me. I started it in May as a Xmas gift for my mother. Instead this year, she received the buttons and I told her I would finish it up. I used some black Sublime Extra Fine Merino DK. It felt wonderful to knit. I haven't worn it yet. Not sure if I will save it for a gift for next year. I had thought of wearing it with my black ski jacket but I haven't even worn the jacket this winter. I finished weaving in the ends right about lunch time on Christmas Eve day. Not sure he will every wear it but it is done. This should do it for sweaters for my nephew. I made my niece and nephew each a sweater (or afghan one each) for a few years ending with the year they graduate high school. Bottom is the baby blanket which will be going in the mail tomorrow. I still have about 8 skeins of that acrylic left so I am planning a few sweaters, a vest and hat and I don't know what else. A sweater or two will be with 2 or more of the strands held together to get a warmer sweater. I was thinking maybe another blanket Suzannehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03626726339137099699noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4090287.post-21432026531358560652008-12-01T18:51:00.002-05:002008-12-01T19:34:38.729-05:00Silk Diamonds Scarf I took a class yesterday through Yarns Down Under (Deep River, CT) in Essex, CT at the Hayden House at the Griswold Inn. The weather was a little interesting (sleet, some flurries, rain) on the way but was just rain on the way home. I left my house at 10 AM and arrived back home right around 5:30 or 6 PM. I picked my own colors except for the greens, they were in the original colorway. Fun Suzannehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03626726339137099699noreply@blogger.com0
