One of my friends has even made bread using her bread maker for me to try before I decide on getting one.<br /><br /><br />A few weeks ago, I was back in hubby's home town and saw my mother in law making bread with her bread maker! I got so excited and got the chance to make my very first loaf of wholemeal bread with her bread maker. It was awesome! Hubby loves the bread and I know from then that the possibility of me getting a bread machine is quite high.<br /><br /><br />So, now, we are on our hunt for a bread maker. Family vacation with the kids can be fun and different too.<br /><br /><br /><br />What’s most important before going on a vacation with our loved ones is to have our <a href="http://www.consolidatedcredit.org/debt-learning-center/vacation-budgeting.aspx">family vacation budgeting</a> done. The least thing I want is to have debts after a vacation. So, planning can be done over at Consolidatedcredit.org where you can use a roadmap to plan your vacation. There are various tips to guide you along when planning a trip and it enables you to save money and to travel within your budget. I think that’s what I’m going to do the next time I plan for a trip.<br /><br /><br /><br />Talking about vacation budgeting, I heard over the radio one day about how people spend beyond their earnings. Rich people complain not having enough money to spend. Well, I thought it’s very true. Our riches cannot be valued through our earnings but our savings. Many people get into debts and do not know how to get out of it. These people should get some advice and <a href="http://www.consolidatedcredit.org/">debt counseling</a> at Consolidatedcredit.org, the one stop debt solution center. Well, if there is someone to give you credit counseling, debt consolidation and financial education, why not? It would mean getting the burden and stress off you!<br /><br /><br /><br />So, if you need credit counseling or merely to know more about money management for any purpose be it for a wedding, holidays or home buying, hop over to Consolidatedcredit.org today. </div><div class="blogger-post-footer"><img width='1' height='1' src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/tracker/4054465462497026523-3377877697601270337?l=www.dineandtravel.com'/></div>JO-Nhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01010414275986799833noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4054465462497026523.post-7448315330692618122009-06-05T11:33:00.001+08:002009-06-06T11:34:25.031+08:00Bread Today<div align="justify">I love bread and this love has been in me since I was young. A few weeks ago, my friend told me about how unhealthy modern day bread is. Another friend showed me an article on bread. It seems that there are many unseen additives in bread and these bread are seriously depleted of nutrients (quoted from an article from Utusan Konsumer).<br /><br /><br />Now, what would you do when you read about this? Bread is something my family and I consume everyday and if we are swallowing all the chemicals without any nutrients, I better think twice.<br /><br /><br />What do you think? </div><div class="blogger-post-footer"><img width='1' height='1' src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/tracker/4054465462497026523-744831533069261812?l=www.dineandtravel.com'/></div>JO-Nhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01010414275986799833noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4054465462497026523.post-46405487500286711322009-05-23T21:40:00.004+08:002009-05-23T21:49:52.510+08:00The Right Night Light<div align="justify">My sons have been co sleeping with me until a year ago when they finally moved into their own room. It was not easy at first as they would run over to my room every now and then and find excuses to sleep in my room.<br /><br /><br />With some persistence, my husband and I managed to train them to sleep by themselves without me lying down with them. Off course, we did some ground work as in buying them a night light and turning on the music so that they would not feel the darkness and the loneliness.<br /><br /><br />Their first sensor night light was too dim and they kept complaining about it. Then, my brother bought a Japanese style table lamp for them. It was just the right <a href="http://www.shopwiki.com/wiki/Lamps">lamp</a> for my sons and they love it so much. However, after several months, their favorite lamp couldn’t work anymore and into the rubbish bin it went. At that very moment, we were thinking of what type of lamp to buy for the boys. Should it be a night light, a table lamp or a floor lamp? It can't be a <a href="http://www.shopwiki.com/wiki/Low+Voltage+Halogen+Lamps">low voltage halogen lamp</a>, can it? One thing is for sure, the brightness must be just nice to enable them to drift into sleep but at the same time give them some courage to sleep in their own room without daddy and mummy.<br /><br /><br />Starting a family and owning a home is really not easy. We have to see to every detail and ensure that we make the right choice. Our next investment would be a <a href="http://www.shopwiki.com/wiki/Desk+Lamps">desk lamp</a> as we have just set up a study place for our son. </div><div class="blogger-post-footer"><img width='1' height='1' src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/tracker/4054465462497026523-4640548750028671132?l=www.dineandtravel.com'/></div>JO-Nhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01010414275986799833noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4054465462497026523.post-91905396883821299202009-05-12T20:20:00.001+08:002009-05-12T20:20:00.702+08:00Fried PastaSince I'm starting to cook now, I often opt for simple food for several reasons:<br /><br /><br /><br />1) I can't cook well<br /><br />2) I can't spend too much time in the kitchen<br /><br />3) I'm lazy to prepare too many types of ingredients<br /><br /><br /><p> </p><p>Here's one of the type of food which I find easy to cook.<br /></p><br /><br /><div align="center"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_SdIfY98gXxU/Se0_Xf2vhiI/AAAAAAAACV4/g1wOHXPSuYw/s1600-h/pasta2.jpg"><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 240px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5326983607169812002" border="0" alt="" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_SdIfY98gXxU/Se0_Xf2vhiI/AAAAAAAACV4/g1wOHXPSuYw/s320/pasta2.jpg" /></a> Adults' version with otak-otak from Muar (the best I have ever tasted), egg and carrot.<br /><br /><br /><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_SdIfY98gXxU/Se0_Wj-43xI/AAAAAAAACVw/cIKXzw2PG4s/s1600-h/pasta1.jpg"><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 240px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5326983591097851666" border="0" alt="" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_SdIfY98gXxU/Se0_Wj-43xI/AAAAAAAACVw/cIKXzw2PG4s/s320/pasta1.jpg" /></a><br />Children's version with home made fish paste (Mother in law's recipe), egg and carrot.<br /><br /><br /><div></div><br /></div><div class="blogger-post-footer"><img width='1' height='1' src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/tracker/4054465462497026523-9190539688382129920?l=www.dineandtravel.com'/></div>JO-Nhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01010414275986799833noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4054465462497026523.post-43479986867366642892009-05-07T07:00:00.002+08:002009-05-07T07:02:09.263+08:00Cucumber and Zucchini<div align="justify">This is the way we eat our cucumber and zucchini.</div><div align="justify"></div><div align="justify"></div><div align="justify"></div><div align="justify"></div><div align="justify"><br /><br />First way: Cut the cucumber or zucchini into strips and soak them into salt water. My right hand had let me down and it was so bad that I couldn't even hold a pen. So, we had been dinning out very frequently, everyday, I would say.<br /><br /><br />Last month, I felt I could step into the kitchen again so one day, I started to prepare some simple food, the all in one type of dish.<br /><br /><br />That day, when I picked my children up from their school, they asked me the familiar question: <strong>"Mom, which restaurant are we going to?"</strong> My answer: <strong>"JO-N's Restaurant"</strong> They didn't get it at first but when I repeated, Karl said: "Oh, I know, we are going to mummy's restaurant!"<br /><br /><br />For several days after that, I had been cooking. One day after school, Karl came back and asked: <strong>"Mom, where's my lunch?"</strong> When I pointed to the packed food bought as I didn't manage to cook that day, he was disappointed. Hey, son, you are telling me you like the food I cook? That's great news!<br /><br /><br />So, with my children's support, I would try to cook whenever I can. I think I'm going to like cooking! </div><div class="blogger-post-footer"><img width='1' height='1' src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/tracker/4054465462497026523-9126440129348335203?l=www.dineandtravel.com'/></div>JO-Nhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01010414275986799833noreply@blogger.com9tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4054465462497026523.post-55514073423474315172009-03-27T09:53:00.002+08:002009-03-27T09:55:51.921+08:00She Wants To Go To Australia<div align="justify">Yesterday, my sister called from Australia and talked to my little daughter. This little girl of mine told her aunt that she wants to go to Australia.<br /><br /><br />Before the telephone conversation, she was telling me: “<strong>Mom, lets go to Australia tomorrow</strong>.” I told her: “We can’t just go to Australia anytime we want to. It’s not like traveling back to grandpa and grandma’s house. We have to plan for the trip, you know, like booking the air ticket and hotel room, getting ready some suitable clothing like <a href="http://www.webtogs.co.uk/Berghaus_Jackets__0/">Berghaus jackets</a> and walking boots, and most importantly, we got to choose a school holiday to visit Australia. We can’t just go there on Saturday and return on Sunday, you know. If we want to visit your aunt, it has to be five or seven days. Australia is so far away.”<br /><br /><br />It is always my dream and wish to travel all around the world, to visit different countries to experience different food and to learn the local culture. Australia would top the list of countries I wish to visit and it would be a family trip with my mom and dad. Since my sister worked in Australia, they never had the chance to visit her. We would only see her once a year. She would be delighted if we visit her for once.<br /><br /><br />This morning, I was talking to the children about visiting their aunt and took the opportunity to tell them that they had to fulfill three main criteria before qualifying for the visit. Firstly, they have to learn how to behave themselves; secondly, they must know how to take care of themselves as in doing things like a big boy and girl without babying around and thirdly, they must be able to help mummy. Let’s see if this could motivate them to change their behavior. </div><div class="blogger-post-footer"><img width='1' height='1' src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/tracker/4054465462497026523-5551407342347431517?l=www.dineandtravel.com'/></div>JO-Nhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01010414275986799833noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4054465462497026523.post-88917481350835830372009-03-12T14:20:00.007+08:002009-03-12T14:24:06.694+08:00Recipe<div align="justify">If you have read my previous post on "<a href="http://www.dineandtravel.com/2009/02/home-cook-western-food.html">Home Cook Western Food</a>", you may be wondering about the ingredients and how to cook it.</div><div align="justify"> </div><div align="justify"> </div><div align="justify"> </div><div align="justify"> </div><div align="justify"></div><div align="justify"></div><div align="justify"></div><div align="justify"></div><div align="justify">Here's dedicating the <a href="http://cheeky-jo.blogspot.com/2009/03/chicken-with-ham-cheese.html">recipe</a>, written by my sister in her blog, to Chinnee and Miche who requested for it.</div><div class="blogger-post-footer"><img width='1' height='1' src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/tracker/4054465462497026523-8891748135083583037?l=www.dineandtravel.com'/></div>JO-Nhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01010414275986799833noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4054465462497026523.post-14456875100691232342009-02-25T10:00:00.001+08:002009-02-25T10:36:36.261+08:00Home Cook Western Food<div style="TEXT-ALIGN: justify">After a <span style="FONT-WEIGHT: bold">LONG</span> break from cooking and bentoing, I finally step into the kitchen again but this time around, I was the assistant to my dear sister who came back from Australia to celebrate Chinese New Year with us.<br /><br /><br />This sister of mine has gained some interest in cooking and baking and has been cooking and baking a lot in Australia. I would say, she is much better than me in this area. Kitchen is <strong>NEVER</strong> a place for me!<br /><br /><br />So, sis decided to prepare a western meal with chicken as the main course.<br /><br /><br />Here's what we cooked:<br /><br /><br /><br /></div><div style="TEXT-ALIGN: center"><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_SdIfY98gXxU/SYVzZmDmVWI/AAAAAAAACOE/ofua0aDwwyA/s1600-h/chicken2.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5297767420220822882" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: pointer; HEIGHT: 240px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_SdIfY98gXxU/SYVzZmDmVWI/AAAAAAAACOE/ofua0aDwwyA/s320/chicken2.jpg" border="0" /></a>This is still raw. If you are wondering what's inside, it's chopped spinach, ham and cheese wrapped inside chicken breast meat / chicken thigh meat.<br /></div><div style="TEXT-ALIGN: justify"><br /><br /></div><div style="TEXT-ALIGN: center"><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_SdIfY98gXxU/SYVzaMJjkfI/AAAAAAAACOU/WQcbl1Gg658/s1600-h/chicken1.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5297767430446354930" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: pointer; HEIGHT: 240px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_SdIfY98gXxU/SYVzaMJjkfI/AAAAAAAACOU/WQcbl1Gg658/s320/chicken1.jpg" border="0" /></a>This is the end product. It's delicious!<br /></div><br /><div style="TEXT-ALIGN: justify"><br /></div><div style="TEXT-ALIGN: center"><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_SdIfY98gXxU/SYVzqclZwLI/AAAAAAAACOk/A-EW9luxXAw/s1600-h/carrotpotato.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5297767709736026290" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: pointer; HEIGHT: 240px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_SdIfY98gXxU/SYVzqclZwLI/AAAAAAAACOk/A-EW9luxXAw/s320/carrotpotato.jpg" border="0" /></a>Carrot and potato as the side dish. We had garlic bread too.<br /></div><br /><br /><div style="TEXT-ALIGN: justify">The meat was very filling and we didn't manage to finish all. So, sis sliced the meat up and we had chicken sandwich for dinner and chicken and spinach fried bee hoon (see following photo) for lunch the next day.<br /></div><div style="TEXT-ALIGN: justify"><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_SdIfY98gXxU/SYVzqRbmwsI/AAAAAAAACOc/-8UqimDDdR4/s1600-h/beehoon.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5297767706742145730" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: pointer; HEIGHT: 240px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_SdIfY98gXxU/SYVzqRbmwsI/AAAAAAAACOc/-8UqimDDdR4/s320/beehoon.jpg" border="0" /></a><br /><div style="TEXT-ALIGN: center">The children love this as much as the chicken sandwich.<br /><br /><br /><div style="TEXT-ALIGN: justify">Thank you sis for the wonderful meal. Stepping into Jurong bird park, I have to admit that they are much better than us in many ways.<br /><br /><br />Firstly, I just love the environment in Jurong bird park. There is greenery everywhere and it's pretty cooling and relaxing strolling along the trails.<br /></div><br /><br /><div style="text-align: center;"><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_SdIfY98gXxU/SPn1fLAeO3I/AAAAAAAABjk/ayTtulunWy8/s1600-h/jurong+bird+park.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_SdIfY98gXxU/SPn1fLAeO3I/AAAAAAAABjk/ayTtulunWy8/s320/jurong+bird+park.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5258503955811285874" border="0" /></a>The main entrance to car park of Jurong Bird Park<br /><br /><div style="text-align: justify;"> <p class="MsoNormal">Next, the Birds and Buddies show is very good, at least they are much better than the bird show in <st1:country-region st="on"><st1:place st="on">Malaysia</st1:place></st1:country-region>. What make me like their bird show more than ours is that it is livelier and the person who hosts the show is much better.<span style=""> </span>There are certain tricks which are similar but one thing which I found interesting is that they are all for recycling.<span style=""> </span>Even the birds can segregate the garbage into the right bin!</p> </div></div><br /><div style="text-align: center;"><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_SdIfY98gXxU/SPn4xj-l7pI/AAAAAAAABkE/_6aIYdBa24A/s1600-h/jurong1.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_SdIfY98gXxU/SPn4xj-l7pI/AAAAAAAABkE/_6aIYdBa24A/s320/jurong1.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5258507570286816914" border="0" /></a>The pools amphitheatre, the perfect place for the bird show<br /><br /><br /> <p style="text-align: justify;" class="MsoNormal">There is a nice place inside <st1:place st="on"><st1:placename st="on">Jurong</st1:PlaceName> <st1:placename st="on">Bird</st1:PlaceName> <st1:placetype st="on">Park</st1:PlaceType></st1:place>, a place just beside the playground for the children to splash and get wet.
