Netted Chevron Bracelet- Saturday June 27th 10am to 12pm

This bracelet would look beautiful in many different color combinations. It's made with Czech firepolish and seed beads and is great bracelet to learn even if you have never done any beading before. The cost is $30 plus supplies (we give you a list & you get 20% anything purchased at Manifest Beads)

Peyote Fringed Cuff Bracelet - Saturday June 27th 2pm to 5pm

New Class Schedule & Beading Classes for Kids this summer!

I'm so excited, we have such a wonderful schedule of classes available this summer!
We have a couple of spaces left in our June classes too, check them out here http://www.manifestbeads.com/class/index.html The Netted Chevron Bracelet & Peyote Cuff class are both beginner classes. They look harder than they are, and they would look beautiful in many different combinations of colors.

We have put out a new schedule for July, August, September. We have changed our scheduling to put out a schedule every quarter, rather than every other month. It will make planning for you much easier! Kira, Pat, & Barb have come up with some BEAUTIFUL projects for this quarter. And if you mention you read this (or if you have a coupon for the newsletter) you can take $10 off one class!

We are running kid's beading classes again this summer. Your child can learn how to make her very own necklace, how to use the tools to attach clasps, what supplies are needed, etc. You have a choice of July 19th or August 22nd at 3:30pm for a one hour class for just $20 which includes the instruction & supplies. And new for this summer is Polymer Clay Beadmaking classes for kids. Your child can make BBQ shape charms....watermelons, hot dogs & hamburgers, and ice cream cone shaped beads. This class is running on July 18th at 2pm. And we also have Polymer Clay Beadmaking "Retro" tie-dye beads on August 8th. Here they will be making their own bright colored beads. Both classes they will make their own beads, and string them onto a necklace with lots of beads to choose from. The cost of each class is just $20 which includes the instruction and all the supplies to make the beads in class. 4th Annual Captain Kidd's Treasure Hunt June 13th

Join us at Lisman Landing at Milford Harbor for the arrival of Captain Kidd and his crew aboard the schooner, Quinnipiack at 10 AM.

For over 300 years people of all ages have searched for Captain Kidd's treasure. On June 13th, folks - young and old - from all over CT, will discover that the treasure is right here in Milford.To celebrate Captain Kidd and our local histore, the Downtown Milford Business Association is hosting the state's best and largest scavenger hunt. Participants will pick up a map and booty bag and, by following the clues, discover free treasure that has been "hidden" in local businesses.-Entertainment-Contests-Music by Irish Mountain-Raffles and Prizes-Tours on the Schooner Quinnipiackand much, much more

Manifest Beader's Club

We had our first official Manifest Beader's Club meeting on Sunday May 31st. We had about 17 people join and several others interested in joining. If you would like to join in on the fun, please stop by, call (203) 877-7778, or email us at info@manifestbeads.com The cost is $10 for a yearly membership. We have open beading times for socializing & beading together, are going to be working with charities to do jewelry donations, bead swaps, guest instructors, special beader's club only forum and more! *Please note that the beader's club is for beader's with some experience only. If you do not have bead experience, our suggestion would be to take classes to learn jewelry making. You will not be learning any basics of jewelry making through the bead club.

Annoucing Summer 2009 Beader's Challenge

It's time for our Summer Beader's Challenge! Due to the popularity of this contest, we are taking pre-orders for kits to ensure that we have plenty of kits for everyone. If you would like to join the challenge, please email us at info@manifestbeads.com, stop in, or call before 7pm on Thursday May 21st. (Please be sure you get a confirmation from us) PLEASE NOTE THAT ALL KITS MUST BE PRE-PAID

The kits will be in bright summery colors and will feature seed beads, pearls, Swarovski crystals, semi-precious beads, and more!
Kit Price: $15

How it works:
You purchase a pre-ordered kit, use any of the beads or all of the beads in the kit to create a piece of jewelry or a set

Jewelry is on display at Manifest Beads for 3 weeks and fellow customers & the public can vote on their favorites

The Prizes are:

1st Place: $50 Gift Certificate
2nd Place:$25 Gift Certificate
3rd Place: $10 Gift Certificate
*Everyone who participates get a gift!

Winner's projects will be displayed in the shop and on our website at the end of the contest (all non-winners can pick up their entries after the end of the voting period)

CHALLENGE RULES:
-Only beads from the kit can be used (you may also use metals- copper, silver, gold spacers, etc.)
-You do not need to use all of the beads in the kit
-You supply your own clasps, findings, & stringing material
-You may make any type of jewelry you'd like
-Kits cannot be shared
-We will only accept either one piece of jewelry or a set (set has to be matching, i.e. necklace & earrings). Please no multiple entries.

IMPORTANT DATES:
Thursday May 21st: Last day to pre-order kits (by 7pm)
Saturday June 6th: Kits will be available for pick up.
Saturday June 27th : All entries must be dropped off by 5pm (you may drop off anytime between 6/6 & 6/27)
June 29th to July18th: Voting!!!

Mini Trunk Show & Lucite is here!

We have a small trunk show going on this month, with gorgeous great quality stones including Amethyst, Aquamarine, chrysocolla, lapis, and much more! They are on 8" strands and are VERY reasonably priced. We also have Czech firepolish on hanks for $1.50/strand when you purchase the whole hank, or you can buy the strands separately too (the prices are higher, though).

And we just got a new shipment of Lucite in! Right now you can purchase what you want on strands, before we break them up to sell as loose. There are some very cool styles we have not had in before.

And don't forget we have the Beader's Club informational meeting this Thursday evening. If you are interested in attending the meeting, please write to me at info@manifestbeads.com

Manifest Beads Beader's Club

We are beginning to form a beader's club. We are having an informational meeting on:

Thursday April 9th at 6pm

The meeting will consist of getting ideas from anyone interested in joining a beader's club, about what you'd like to see for the club. Some ideas that have already been mentioned are:

Get togethers to bead at the shop (some with potluck dinners)
Bead Swaps
Community involvement: group classes at senior center, fundraisers, craft fairs (to teach beading and sell your jewelry!)
Special club bead challenges
early access to shop events, including trunk shows
access to special discounts for club members

St. Patrick's Day Parade

We WILL BE OPEN during Milford's St. Patrick's Day parade at 1pm on Saturday. I was told our road would be closed off around 12:30 or so and reopen probably by 2pm. Come in early and watch the parade with us!

This beader's challenge produced such a beautiful variety of entries, I can't wait to see who wins. Then the winning entries will be on display in the store through the rest of March.

Channel 12 "Pet Talk"

Today I did a segment on Pet Talk for Channel 12 news that will be aired next weekend. It will be on Channel 12 at various times during the weekend (it's repeated). They asked me to do beaded pet necklaces and I talked a little bit about how to make a necklace for dogs or cats. It was fun! A really great way to promote the shop!

Winter Beader's Challenge!

We have announced today the Winter 2009 Beader's Challenge. If you are interested in participating in the contest, please email us at info@manifestbeads.com, stop in, or call by 5pm January 17th. Kits need to be pre-ordered because of the popularity of the contest. We want to ensure that we have enough for everyone who registers. Kits will then be available to pick up on Saturday January 31st. The cost of the kit is $15. The theme for this challenge is Winter Blues, and the beads will be in shades of blue and white. Holiday Event this Friday!

Join us this Friday night, December 5th, for our Manifest Beads Holiday Event! Our event coincides with Downtown Milford's Lamplight Stroll (which runs Friday evening from 5pm to 9pm and Saturday from 10am to 5pm). Bring in a project to work on, have some cookies & hot chocolate, and have some fun! We will be taking custom jewelry design orders and are also offering our yearly gift certificate savings promotion! We will be open on Friday from 12pm to 9pm.

We will also be taking our yearly donations of beaded jewelry for the Umbrella Group for domestic violence. Each year, we take donations of handmade beaded jewelry to the Umbrella Group for women in shelters who have been affected by domestic violence. Lamplight Stroll

Dowtown Milford is hosting it's Lamplight Stroll on Friday December 5th from 5pm to 9pm and Saturday December 6th from 10am to 5pm. The event includes:

- Santa Claus & Mrs. Claus will take children on horse & carriage rides through downtown
- Carolers in 19th century garb will be singing store to store
