Labradoodles come in a wide variety of colours, including chocolate, cafe, parchment, cream, gold, apricot, red, black, silver, chalk, and parti colours. They also can be different sizes, depending on the size of poodle (i.e. toy, miniature or standard) used.

Although most Labradoodles are healthy, they can suffer from certain problems common to their parent breeds.

Both Poodles and Labrador Retrievers can suffer from hip dysplasia, and should have specialist radiography to check for this problem before breeding. The parent breeds can also suffer from a number of eye disorders, and an examination by a qualified veterinary eye specialist should be performed.

Over the past couple of years, a number of Multigenerational Labradoodles have also been found to suffer from Progressive retinal atrophy (PRA), an inherited disease that causes blindness, which occurs in both Miniature Poodles and Cocker Spaniels. It is strongly recommended that Multigenerational Labradoodles be DNA tested for PRA before being bred.

The manufacturer of the Treo and Centro said the Palm Pre will be available exclusively through Sprint. The phone is expected to be available this spring.

North Carolina’s unemployment rate is highest in 25 years

North Carolina’s unemployment rate increased to 7.9 percent in November, according to statistics released today by the Employment Security Commission. The unemployment rate is the highest since October 1983.

North Carolina’s unemployment rate has climbed steadily since December 2007, when the rate was 4.7 percent. Rockingham County’s unemployment rate has remained slightly higher than the state unemployment rate. In October, Rockingham County’s rate was 8.6 percent. The county unemployment rates for the month of November will be released on Jan. 6.

“Global and economic challenges have had an impact on North Carolina,” said ESC Chairman Harry E. Payne Jr. “Many employers are faced with layoffs or cutting back hours. Several job hours, including manufacturing and professional and business services, have been affected by the national business climate. During the last year, employment in these sectors alone is down by 57,600.”

Rockingham County has taken a big hit in manufacturing during the past year. Hanesbrands, Inc. in Eden announced plans to close its yarn and knit-fabric textile plants. The yarn plant will close at the end of the year and the adjacent knit-fabric plant will close in February 2009. The plant closures will leave 720 people out of work. In November, General Tobacco Company announced it would cut 31 jobs from its Mayodan plant. Other manufacturing companies have announced cut-backs and layoffs.

Wonderful, Tender, Juicy & Full Flavored Standing Rib Roast Recipe

This is the best standing rib roast recipe that is so easy to make and it serves 10 people!

* 1 (3 lb) box of morton kosher salt
* 4-6 lbs prime rib roast

Directions

1. Slowly add a little of the water to the Kosher salt and stir; then add a little more water and

stir. Continue until the salt becomes the consistency of "snow" so that you can "pack" it on the

roast and it sticks like snow (Sometimes you may need a little more or less of the water) -- YOU DO

NOT WANT TO DISSOLVE THE SALT.

2. Pat some of the salt mixture in a foil-lined pan in a rectangle big enough to put the roast on.

3. Place the roast on the salt and pat the remaining salt mixture on the roast, covering completely.

4. Inset a meat thermometer.

5. Bake at 425 degrees for about 2 hours.

6. (140 degrees for rare, 160 for medium).

7. Remove the roast when the thermometer registers 5 degrees BELOW desired doneness.

8. CRACK AND REMOVE ALL OF THE SALT CRUST.

This method makes the BEST roasted prime rib. It never fails to produce a tender/juicy prime rib for me. Don't worry, the salt mixture will not affect the taste. It's purpose is to seal in all the flavor and juices.
