I had no idea of his immense career success. I did speak with him on the phone some years ago and he never mentioned it; the only bragging he did was about his beautiful wife and his beloved son. Always knew what was important, Emru did. Will always look back fondly on memories of he and Alan Yates sauntering down the hall, mocking teachers and passing cryptic comments most of us weren't intelligent enough to understand. The task of fighting on in memory of our loved one goes to those who survive them. In a weird way it's fitting Emru went out on what you call Remembrance Day and we in the Lower 48 call Veteran's Day.<BR/><BR/>The war against blood cancers continues. We are given a task we cannot complete, but we cannot, we <B>must</B> not abandon the task. I date back to the Montreal BBS days, where Emru was a legend. This was the early days of getting to know someone by their computer postings alone, and already he stood out as someone to know and admire. I cannot recall him having an unkind word for anyone -- and we were teenagers, so unkind words were supposed to be our stock in trade.<BR/><BR/>As can be seen in the comments here, his wit and kindness continued throughout his too short life. With these talents and generosity it is plain that he has touched many, many people.<BR/><BR/>The impression I get from this blog is that he approached his end with the same dignity and wisdom he carried through his life -- the dignity and wisdom of an older soul inside a young man taken away too early.<BR/><BR/>What breaks my heart every time is seeing the photos of Emru with his family.
