You really will want to look for the angle of the pitchers hand. On a breaking ball you may see the side of the pitchers hand, whereas on a fastball his hand will stay behind the ball. To answer the second part of your question you would want to do both, read trajectory and read spin. Out of the hand breaking balls often go up, fastballs go down or direct. A pitcher with a really good breaking ball will not have the ball go up out of his hand so you will have to rely more on reading the spin. You can read spin around a 3rd of the way to the plate but usually not out of the hand. If you can train your eyes to be able to read backspin(fastball) or sidespin(breaking ball) this will really help you to identify the type of pitch you are getting sooner. Hope this is helpful.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-39589942409047088.post-13908124684080907182008-04-16T15:42:00.000-04:002008-04-16T15:42:00.000-04:00is it possible to see the difference between a cur...is it possible to see the difference between a curveball and a fastball out of the pitcher's hand. Would one look at the trajectory or the spin of the pitch?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
