A long swing can produce power but can create a lot of holes in your swing which makes you susceptible to the strike out.(as you already know) So shortening your swing CORRECTLY will allow you to tighten up those holes but should not reduce your power potential. If you are looking to play at higher levels you should make an adjustment but you need to make sure it is the RIGHT adjustment. What would be the right adjustment for you? Without seeing you I really cannot tell you. My best advice to you would be to find a highly respected hitting coach in your area and talk to him about it. Make sure that it is someone who you would trust with your swing. Or give us a call at the BBF and ask for me and I would be glad to talk to you about it. Hope this helps, and good luck.Matt Schillinghttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08216751842874823295noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-39589942409047088.post-88549659973525349532008-05-02T15:20:00.000-04:002008-05-02T15:20:00.000-04:00So if you have a hitch in your swing that creates...So if you have a hitch in your swing that creates a long swing, is that something you should try to change? I've been told to change it as it would make me a more consistant hitter but can't hit the ball as well. I went from hitting lots of home runs (or striking out)to grounding out. Some advice from you would be greatly appreciated!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
