Composers for earlier game consoles were given a limited musical palate, yet such technological constants helped further creativity, and forged greater compositions.<br /><br />What happens, however, when these tunes get transformed by electronic musicians, metalheads, and multi-instrumentalists? In case of artist Xoc, his talent, vision, and 30+ instruments realized a brilliant interpretation of entire Super Mario World soundtrack.<br /><br /><br /><object type="application/x-shockwave-flash" data="http://www.robotanalysis.com/media/player.swf" id="audioplayer1" height="24" width="290"><br /><param name="movie" value="http://www.robotanalysis.com/media/player.swf"><br /><param name="FlashVars" value="playerID=1&soundFile=http://www.robotanalysis.com/media/Xoc%20-%2004%20maintheme.mp3"><br /><param name="quality" value="high"><br /><param name="menu" value="false"><br /><param name="wmode" value="transparent"><br /></object><br /><a href="http://www.xocmusic.com/images/70px/xoc_SMWexpanded.jpg">Download the entire album here, free at Xoc's website</a><div class="blogger-post-footer"><img width='1' height='1' src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/tracker/3928226960366468918-4561220761001963530?l=www.robotanalysis.com'/></div>Jasonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01312091894265280572robotanalysis@gmail.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3928226960366468918.post-26823849262752308772009-05-14T09:04:00.006-04:002009-05-26T23:51:02.036-04:00Julie DoironJulie Doiron's past albums have always been focused around fragile, naked singer-songwriter compositions. Her latest album, I Wonder What You Did With Your Day, is a departure from her <span class="newsbody">melancholy</span> past, featuring a full band and even a few menacing guitar riffs. Here's the rockin <span style="font-style: italic;">Consolation Prize</span> - a driving, fuzzy bass indie-pop tune.<br /><br /><br /><object type="application/x-shockwave-flash" data="http://www.robotanalysis.com/media/player.swf" id="audioplayer1" height="24" width="290"><br /><param name="movie" value="http://www.robotanalysis.com/media/player.swf"><br /><param name="FlashVars" value="playerID=1&soundFile=http://www.robotanalysis.com/media/Julie Doiron - consolation prize.mp3"><br /><param name="quality" value="high"><br /><param name="menu" value="false"><br /><param name="wmode" value="transparent"><br /></object><br /><a href="http://www.robotanalysis.com/media/Julie%20Doiron%20-%20consolation%20prize.mp3">Download</a><br /><br />Check out the video for <span style="font-style: italic;">Heavy Snow</span> off her newest album I Wonder What You Did With Your Day:<br /><object height="344" width="425"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/IyL_SkyKQmM&hl=en&fs=1"><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/IyL_SkyKQmM&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" height="344" width="425"></embed></object><div class="blogger-post-footer"><img width='1' height='1' src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/tracker/3928226960366468918-2682384926275230877?l=www.robotanalysis.com'/></div>Jasonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01312091894265280572robotanalysis@gmail.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3928226960366468918.post-45555723248576963892009-03-26T08:55:00.000-04:002009-05-14T09:25:38.487-04:00A Northern ChorusLast year I took a handful of business trips across the US, and while I was in New York I decided to visit the <a href="http://cake-shop.com/">Cake Shop</a>, a bar/record store/music venue, to hear this band on a whim. What a night - the opening bands were great, and A Northern Chorus left me stunned. In a room of under 100 people, I sat in front, mesmerized by the cellist, and the band's general ability to rock out one minute and create intimate, hushing atmospheres the next.<br /><br />Unfortunately, after four albums since 2001, they decided to break up a few months ago. Listen to <span style="font-style: italic;">Skeleton Keys</span> off their last album below.<br /><br /><object type="application/x-shockwave-flash" data="http://www.robotanalysis.com/media/player.swf" id="audioplayer1" height="24" width="290"><br /><param name="movie" value="http://www.robotanalysis.com/media/player.swf"><br /><param name="FlashVars" value="playerID=1&soundFile=http://www.robotanalysis.com/media/A Northern Chorus - Skeleton Keys.mp3"><br /><param name="quality" value="high"><br /><param name="menu" value="false"><br /><param name="wmode" value="transparent"><br /></object><br /><a href="http://www.robotanalysis.com/media/A%20Northern%20Chorus%20-%20Skeleton%20Keys.mp3">Download</a><br /><br />Check out their official video for "Winterize":<br /><object height="344" width="425"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/FcJq84Qgzjc&hl=en&fs=1&rel=0"><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/FcJq84Qgzjc&hl=en&fs=1&rel=0" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" height="344" width="425"></embed></object><div class="blogger-post-footer"><img width='1' height='1' src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/tracker/3928226960366468918-4555572324857696389?l=www.robotanalysis.com'/></div>Jasonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01312091894265280572robotanalysis@gmail.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3928226960366468918.post-19328688724196663622009-02-01T09:04:00.000-05:002009-05-14T09:24:50.022-04:00Maps and AtlasesMaps and Atlases is one my favorite bands to come out of the Chicago indie rock scene lately. Their sound is mathy (thank you ever changing time signatures) and melodic at the same time, like a mix between Faraquet, Minus the Bear and Hella. The addition of a vibraphone adds to their stellar instrumentation, along with the precise tapping, strumming, and picking of both guitarists.<br /><br /><object type="application/x-shockwave-flash" data="http://www.robotanalysis.com/media/player.swf" id="audioplayer1" height="24" width="290"><br /><param name="movie" value="http://www.robotanalysis.com/media/player.swf"><br /><param name="FlashVars" value="playerID=1&soundFile=http://www.robotanalysis.com/media/Maps and Atlases - songs for ghosts to haunt to.mp3"><br /><param name="quality" value="high"><br /><param name="menu" value="false"><br /><param name="wmode" value="transparent"><br /></object><br /><a href="http://www.robotanalysis.com/media/Maps%20and%20Atlases%20-%20songs%20for%20ghosts%20to%20haunt%20to.mp3">Download</a><br /><br />For an interview with the band and live footage, check out this video:<br /><object height="344" width="425"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/U-1HWJ-FtEs&hl=en&fs=1"><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/U-1HWJ-FtEs&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" height="344" width="425"></embed></object><div class="blogger-post-footer"><img width='1' height='1' src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/tracker/3928226960366468918-1932868872419666362?l=www.robotanalysis.com'/></div>Jasonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01312091894265280572robotanalysis@gmail.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3928226960366468918.post-90372094728712979182009-01-24T23:31:00.000-05:002009-05-14T09:24:19.032-04:00Dave From 2001Here's a tune from an Internet buddy of mine, called <span style="font-style: italic;">Happy Birthday Bolickus</span>, was released on a <a href="http://groups.yahoo.com/group/boards-of-canada/?yguid=232211391">Boards Of Canada forum</a> many years ago. What better way to celebrate a friend's birthday than with 80s PBS logo themes, marching beats, and Moog bass lines.<br /><br /><object type="application/x-shockwave-flash" data="http://www.robotanalysis.com/media/player.swf" id="audioplayer1" height="24" width="290"><br /><param name="movie" value="http://www.robotanalysis.com/media/player.swf"><br /><param name="FlashVars" value="playerID=1&soundFile=http://www.robotanalysis.com/media/davefrom2001 - happy birthday bolickus.mp3"><br /><param name="quality" value="high"><br /><param name="menu" value="false"><br /><param name="wmode" value="transparent"><br /></object><br /><a href="http://www.robotanalysis.com/media/davefrom2001%20-%20happy%20birthday%20bolickus.mp3">Download</a><br /><br />Additionally, D2k1 also provided the music for this gem:<br /><br /><object height="344" width="425"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/ZqzESY7SIqU&hl=en&fs=1"><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/ZqzESY7SIqU&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" height="344" width="425"></embed></object><div class="blogger-post-footer"><img width='1' height='1' src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/tracker/3928226960366468918-9037209472871297918?l=www.robotanalysis.com'/></div>Jasonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01312091894265280572robotanalysis@gmail.com1
