You can't agree with one person part of the time and a different person another part of the time and then a third person, etc. If you don't pick a political party you're wishy-washy, and if you do and you disagree with your leaders you're wishy-washy. You can't have an informed opinion. You're expected to just go with the flow and let the people in office make all the decisions.

This is why I wish we had micro-voting, where the entire populace had a fast and convenient and easy way to vote on every single issue they felt like voting on. I've mentioned this before. You'd get up in the morning, check the news, and vote on whatever people were talking about that day. It'd be like how people waste time taking internet surveys, except it would actually mean something.

I also like my "politician pool" idea, where people who weren't getting anything done could be removed and replaced quickly, again through a system of easy voting.

We have the technology to accomplish something like this, but I fear our 200 years of history and tradition will keep it from ever happening. So the only ways to have a voice will be to write/call one's elected officials and to participate in protests. Neither of these options seems particularly viable.Heather Meadowshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04962932701620185508noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3885635.post-73078063985395889522007-03-21T12:05:00.000-04:002007-03-21T12:05:00.000-04:00I have also felt the same way, wanting to just chu...I have also felt the same way, wanting to just chuck it all and move to Australia. What seems so insurmountable to me is that the issues appear so intertwined. As soon as you pick apart one issue, you find a thread that connects to another issue. Before you know it, you've got a cat ball of issues and no end in sight. How to make headway in this political world drives me up the freakin' wall.Rossnoreply@blogger.com
