I don't really want there to be restrictions on the Internet.

Users in other countries already have trouble; China blocks all kinds of websites.

I kind of wonder, though, if this might backfire on the countries who want it so badly...that maybe having to negotiate how the Internet works with other governments might wind up costing them some control options. (e.g., the other governments push for freedom of information, and the dissenters are forced to comply.) I'm not really sure how realistic that is, but it'd be funny if it happened.Heather Meadowshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04962932701620185508noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3885635.post-1129166001100826622005-10-12T21:13:00.000-04:002005-10-12T21:13:00.000-04:00No doubt you've also been following the whole inte...No doubt you've also been following the whole international debate over U.S. control of the Internet -- with the loudest protesters including countries like China, Iran, Russia and Pakistan (defenders of free speech all). I think you're very like to see the Internet we've all come to know and love change a wee bit. Likely NOT for those of us in the United States, but it will be less of a global phenom. The nation states will start flexing their muscles (Yahoo!'s already been complicit with China in cracking down on dissent) against online nihilism.John Duns Scotushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06260597026671417625noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3885635.post-1129156186594445392005-10-12T18:29:00.000-04:002005-10-12T18:29:00.000-04:00Thanks, anonymous! Thanks, anonymous!Heather Meadowshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04962932701620185508noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3885635.post-1129147814211945742005-10-12T16:10:00.000-04:002005-10-12T16:10:00.000-04:00you're highly unlikely to be sued unless you in so...you're highly unlikely to be sued unless you in some way try and profit from the use of the borrowed text, or try to pass off the text as your own intellectual property. citation of the source will do just fine.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
