I Ate Guinea Pig while in Cuzco!!

I'm here to say that it was pretty tasty. Of course it tasted like Chicken and was a bit chewy, but good. Tasted a bit like Pollo A La Brasa, which was also not a surprise.

The Coi as it is called in Peru was prepared in a village over a wood fire as a thanks for the work our team had done that day.

Good stuff if you all ever get a chance to give it a try.

DCBean reporting in from Cuzco Peru. So far I have tried Peruvian style chicken from the source. As good as I thought it would be. Better then anything in DC which is to be expected. Still have Guinea Pig on my list if I have a chance.

They are serious when they say the air is thin here. Coca Tea does help though.

Tomorrow we build a stove for some village famillies, then Mauchu Pichu on Friday.

Will have some interesting pictures to post here later on this week.

Komodo Dragons at it again!!!

Well in today's bizarre news is a little story about some Komodo Dragon's apparently lurking under a tree and then murdering some poor guy when he finally fell out of it. Supposedly the Indonesian fisherman was after some free fruit while trespassing on the Dragons territory.

Komodo dragons, the world's heaviest lizards, can grow up to 3 meters (10 feet) in length and have a toxic bite that they use to kill prey such as buffalo, returning to feast when the animal succumbs to the poison.

Last month a park ranger survived after a Komodo dragon climbed the ladder into his hut and savaged his hand and foot.

In 2007 an eight-year-old boy died after being mauled.

In June last year, a group of divers who were stranded on an island in the national park -- the dragons' only natural habitat -- had to fend off several attacks from the reptiles before they were rescued.

Park rangers also tell the cautionary tale of a Swiss tourist who vanished leaving nothing but a pair of spectacles and a camera after an encounter with the dragons several years ago.

Well Stephen Colbert may think Bears are the big problem but I for one will be trying to avoid these guys in the future, maybe you should too!

So I have more news to report on the crack chicken front. I have added two more crack chicken dealers to me review list. First Chicken Loco (The Crazy Chicken) out in Annandale VA. This place is close to where I work so I walked over one night for dinner a couple weeks ago when working late. I walked in the front door and to the back of the restaurant. Oh did this place suck. I was greeted by a Korean Guy behind the calendar. Strike one. This is Peruvian style chicken and obviously this is just one of the local business owners trying to cash in on one of DC's better food phenomenon’s. No Yucca, strike two; and strike three was that Asian style rice was a side. WTF. The chicken was chicken, no better than KFC. Don't go to this place, there is a KFC right up the road. Now I also had the pleasure of visiting El Pollo Rico the other day and this place is a good place to get some good chicken. Still I stand by my original complaint. There is no damn fried yucca!! The sauces are nothing special either; a mustard sauce and a green sauce that is just chopped up jalapenos. I still like Crisp and Juicy. It is a bit saltier. The sides are better, and the crack sauce is kick ass. The search for the perfect chicken continues.

I don't know about that punxsutawney rodent, but French Creek Freddie, the only ground hog that I listen to for my prognostications, says 6 more weeks of winter. I guess DC could use a little more winter weathering. According to our new president we need to toughen up. I don't know about the rest of you but I chipped the inch of ice off my car last week and drove in to work.

I love Pollo a la Brassa. Affectionately referred to as Crack Chicken by many of the Capitol Hillbillies.

Recently Anthony Bordain did a Washington DC episode where he stopped off at this crack chicken joint. El Pollo Rico Now personally I am a Crisp and Juicy man. I love their chicken, I love their sauce, I f'n love the fried Yucca. Hell I don't even mind the fuck off attitude I get from the person behind the counter. Here is one of my past posts about the stuff: Crisp and Juicy.

Anthony was told that El Pollo Rico is the best Peruvian style chicken around the DC Metro Area. Sorry, but I have to disagree. How can any self respecting Peruvian Chicken joint serve chicken without any damned fried yucca, is beyond me. Just seems wrong to me. I am willing to admit I have not yet tried the best Peruvian chicken this world has to offer though, so I am going on a mission. I am going to try out and report back here on as many crack chicken joints that I can find. There are about 20 - 30 from what I have seen. I may even cap it all off with some chicken and roast guinea pig reports from Peru as I am traveling there this summer. So stay tuned.

So it has been awhile since i have showed my face on the ole Capitol hillbilly page. I haven't seen hide nor hair of the rest of the resident hillbillies for quite a while neither.

Reason is none of the hillbillies are resident anymore. But that won't stop the occasional post. I hope to do better, no I pledge to do better in the future.

So first some complaining... Well there is the BaracOmania coming up next week, when DC will be slowed to such a crawl, that it will give a whole new meaning to the phrase Southern efficiency. I for one am getting the heck out of town, fleeing the hillbilly haven for a few days. With all of the bridges closed and the Metro jammed, I don't like the idea that I will not be able to get the heck out of Dodge should the need arise. Instead I am heading for the Dub-V to do a little gambling, a little skiing and to watch the whole fiasco on TV.

Oh I have joined the ranks of the edumacated with our Own R-Dub, finally finishing up my official book learnin for quite some time I hope.

As the CapitolHillBilly UK correspondent I feel it is my duty to share this rather unfortunate story from the BBC with you.

An increasing number of small boys may be finding toilet training a more painful experience than they anticipated, say safety experts.
Doctors at one English hospital reported four cases in which a toddler's penis had been injured by a falling toilet seat.
The fashion for heavy wooden and ceramic seats is worsening the problem, they say.
Figures suggest there may be up to 250 similar cases a year in the UK.

Dr Joe Philip, from Leighton Hospital in Crewe, said that parents might need to take more precautions to keep their young sons out of A&E.
He called for more seats to be designed to fall slowly, and for heavier seats to be banned from households with young boys.
He even suggested that the social norm of putting the seat down after use be suspended and the seat fixed in an upright position.

Well I am at a loss for words about this, finally someone comes out publicly and supports a cause close to my heart-the suspension of the social norm of putting the seat down after use-it appears there is now scientific evidence to suggest that this should be stopped. I for one will be taking this advice, I advise you to do the same.

Well this wraps up my portion of R Dub and my South American adventure. I'm currently sitting in the back of a shuttle taxi on my way to the airport.

What a long strange trip its been. Full of colorful local characters, charming coastal towns and papas fritas (french fries). A good time was had by all but Ry is talking about another trip down the entire coast with our own truck. I don't know if Chile or its inhabitants will be lucky enough to have seen the last of us.
I leave with many good stories, great experiences and I hope a better understanding of one South America country and its people.

The truth is out there. We went to check out the petroglyphs in the Elqui Valley today. The place was amazing and dare I say almost magical. The guide was pointing out the antennas on the stick figures and mention the fact that nobody really knows what the object is floating above its head. I'm waiting for Fat Josh's official analysis which will undoubtedly include evidence supported by youtube clips before I make any judgments.
