What a lovely model this has turned out to be.

I purchased it just after Christmas with the intentions of teaching myself to fly.

However, after many hours on the simulator provided and the download tips, I felt I needed to get somewhere and fly the real thing.

I found a local club that was willing to let me practice at their site (I am already a BMFA member) and went along.

Their chief instructor and one member of the club then checked out the completed model and, with fully charged battery the instructor took off. Within minutes he declared it a thoroughly stable and forgiving machine, just what I needed to practice and develope my skills on before progressing to something else.

I was given the transmitter and allowed to fly around for the expected life of the battery and really enjoyed it. Far better than the simulator version. It floated and glided well in the gentle wind and then I handed back to the instructor to land. Perfect!

With 3 batteries available (I had purchased 2 extra) I couldn't wait to have another go and neither could some of the other pilots there. A great deal of fun was had by all, and there was no ridicule at all from those present.

I have since returned to the club and become a member and enjoy flying before my peers, managing my own take offs and landings now. It has been agreed to allow me to take the 'A' certificate demanded by the BMFA on this model and I am practicing hard for both the flying and the questions part of the test.

I got one today, i have never had a plane before and I am trying to put it together but the instructions were not printed out very well and I cannot see some of what is written on them =( Its sooo annoying.
Is there any way i can see some instructions online?

Nathan - just read your comment again - more carefully this time.

If the servo is making noises but not moving check that there isn't some sort of binding (ie something stuck) like the elevator can't move due to a broken piece, or the control rod is getting stuck inside the boom etc.

If that isnt' the case then you have probably stripped a servo gear and will need to buy a replacement servo and install it.

Nathan - you may have a dead servo, a bad channel on your controller, or a connector that is not firmly plugged in.

Start by making sure the elevator servo is correctly plugged into the receiver, and try plugging it into other channels.

Troubleshooting RC plane faults is a lot like any electrical troubleshooting - by testing with different, known good components you can isolate the fault.

But... don't forget you could just take it back to where you bought it from and ask for their help.

Hi

I just got an electrafun and on the first flight i crashed my electrafun xp2. When i got home i noticed that the elevator wasnt moving. The rudder moves fine and i checked that it wasnt just the batteries and it still wouldnt move. I can hear it trying to move it but it wont move.

Does anyone one have a solution to my problem?

Im just wondering if you guys could help me out. On my maiden flight using a EF XP2 i crashed it and when i got home the elevator wasnt working you can hear it trying to move it but it wont move. The Rudder still works fine.

Could anyone help me out please

Hi Guys, don't know if this thread is still active, but for what it's worth, I modified my EF and fitted ailerons to the standard wing. Gives you the option of using the fourth channel. Flying is normal without lateral input and the rate of roll is very gentle when you pluck up the courage to use them. I wont be doing any flick rolls with this setup, but I think it's a nice easy transition to aileron control. BTW, I used the setup from a wrecked extrafun (you really only need the wing and servo) whole mod took me a couple of hours.

Hi Tom,

Your charger should work okay. Just be aware you will have to cycle the battery two or three times - so charge it, put it in the plane, and just run the engine until flat, charge again etc.

retuned to RC after 20 years and started with EF ...what a great learner and tough after a few planes and some six months I still take the Ef out on days when its to windy. And boy it teaches you to use the wind to your advantage
Mind you its a little modified now
