Has there ever been a form like this before? Is a form drafted like this legal and able to be enforced? I've run it past some legal eagles. They say no.

If, as will be the case in many instances, debaters are over 18 on arrival and legally able to take responsibility for themselves, in what way do they then differ from the adjudicators and coaches who will not be asking their parents to countersign a form for them?

Well actually, it now refers to both South Korean and Alberta law -it says that those who sign must abide by South Korean law but that the waiver form will be governed and interpreted by Albertan law. I'm not sure why.

It also refers to an Alberta Health number.

It's probably borrowed from a form used in Alberta and people just forgot to properly change it over.

It also refers to "Association" but I don't know whether that means the WSDC or the convening organisation which might be the Korea Debate Association or the Korea Forensics League or an association or committee set up to host Worlds or the event organisers Norman Leach and Associates.

It's a shame if people have to pay money to get legal advice wehen they are already paying lots of money to get to the Championships but the form's got a few problems so people should just take some care.
