DOLLY PARTON PAYS TRIBUTE TO PORTER WAGONER AND DON WARDEN

Sevier County superstar Dolly Parton took some personal time off from her busy press schedule Saturday to celebrate the life and music of former television partner and mentor, Porter Wagoner. In her own Celebrity Theater, the singer spent an emotional and poignant afternoon singing the songs and sharing the stories of the time she and Porter spent together and the impact the legend had on all who surrounded him. Parton also took the opportunity to surprise manager, and original Wagon Master, Don Warden with an induction into the Missouri based Steel Guitar Hall of Fame. The Dollywood Theater was transformed with familiar sets from the long-running country music show and Dolly’s band, The Backwoods Boys, dressed in the signature costumes from the era. Dolly, herself, wore a Porter-inspired outfit to set the mood for the afternoon.
“This won’t be a sad time,” she assured the crowd. “This will be a happy time!” The private event was attended by Wagoner’s children and grand children and many of the Grand Ole Opry stars who had performed with him during his long and successful career. “The Porter Wagoner Show” debuted on syndicated television in 1960 and the flashy country star brought new talent Dolly Parton aboard in 1967. Parton credits his support and the popularity of their duets together, as the foundation of her own success. During the emotional memorial, Wagon Master steel guitar player Don Warden was surprised by Parton with a tribute of his own. Dressed in the original costume he wore on the famed show, Warden was gifted with a sculpture from Parton who described him as her “Angel on Earth” and told of his induction into the Steel Guitar Hall of Fame. When Dolly left the Porter Wagoner Show, Warden went with her as manager and has remained with her as an adviser through the years. This very special tribute marked the first time the two had performed together in 34 years.
Eyes glistening with tears, Parton closed the memorial with the original version of her 1974 musical farewell to their partnership, “I Will Always Love You”. “Not a dry eye in the house,” says Sevierville media artist Jacob Timmons, who designed and manages Parton’s web empire. “The whole first row of the theater was Porter’s family, the second row was legends from the Grand Ole Opry. S.D. Professionals, LLC and TNBLIMP.com prove a complete success for the 2008 Goodyear dealer tradeshow at the Gaylord Texan in Grapevine, Texas this past weekend! 'Gossip Girl' actor familiar with struggles faced by show's teen characters

HOLLYWOOD - When "Gossip Girl" co-star Matthew Settle was a teenager growing up in Sevierville, he rebelled by cranking up the radio when he drove the church van.
"Part of that (driving) was to (give me the opportunity to) listen to rock music," says Settle, whose parents are conservative Christians who forbade him to listen to such songs. "The other reason was that I just wanted to drive the van."
Settle has come a long way since those days. He can be seen in the role of former rock star-turned-New York art dealer Rufus Humphrey in the CW hit series "Gossip Girl" (9 p.m. Wednesdays, WBXX, Channel 20).
The series, which premiered in September, has been a particular hit in the Knoxville area. Most weeks, its audience here rivals those in major cities such as Los Angeles, Chicago and New York.
The show centers on a group of high-school students attending a posh private school in Manhattan where reputation is everything. The lives of the students are highly dramatic and documented often on a Web site run by a shadowy figure simply known as Gossip Girl.
Rufus has two teenage children attending the private academy. They're middle-class kids and don't fit into this world filled with rich and privileged teenagers.
But Rufus makes sure his kids don't fall into their classmates' materialistic ways. There's none of that "do as I say, don't do as I do" stuff for Rufus. He is straight with his teenage children, Jenny (Taylor Momsen) and Dan (Penn Badgley), about what to expect out of life.
Like his character's kids facing class struggles in the school setting of "Gossip Girl," Settle has also been there and done that.
Reared in a household in which his father's meager salary as a minister kept the family fed, Settle attended Seymour Christian Academy, a private Christian school. His values may have melded with the other students', but he was surrounded by classmates whose families often had larger incomes.

Tennessee Real Estate Notice :: Fed will Cut Interest Rates Today

The Federal Reserve will probably cut interest rates today and lay the ground for more to prevent the economy from sliding into recession.
The Federal Open Market Committee will be loath to repeat language from its last meeting that risks between inflation and growth are ``roughly'' balanced, economists said. Keeping the phrase would open officials to criticism they're oblivious to the credit squeeze that's threatening growth.
``They pretty much tried to draw a line in the sand by going to a balanced-risks statement at the last meeting, and now the world's changed,'' said Keith Hembre, who used to work at the Fed and is now chief economist in Minneapolis at FAF Advisors Inc., which manages $105 billion. Officials will ``leave themselves the opening'' for further cuts, he said.
Chairman Ben S. Bernanke is trying to steer through the housing recession that entered its third year and alleviate a jump in borrowing costs for companies and consumers. The FOMC will lower the benchmark rate by a quarter point to 4.25 percent, according to 113 of 123 economists surveyed by Bloomberg News. Seven anticipate a half-point move and three see no change.
Officials may also enhance their efforts at providing a backstop for bank funding amid a surge in demand for cash, some economists said. Options include reducing the charge for direct loans to banks by half a point, to 4.5 percent.
Most Since Recession
The Fed is scheduled to announce its decision at about 2:15 p.m. in Washington. A quarter point rate cut, after 0.75 percentage point of reductions in September and October, would mark the greatest easing of borrowing costs since the last recession in 2001.
Bernanke and Vice Chairman Donald Kohn recognized in speeches last month a deterioration in credit markets that jeopardizes lending to businesses and consumers, threatening spending. That was a shift from the Oct. 31 statement, when officials signaled they were reluctant to do more.
``The reality is, markets have gotten worse in a way they couldn't have expected, and they've gotten worse to a point where there are legitimate concerns that it will spill over to the macroeconomy,'' said Vincent Reinhart, who was Bernanke's chief staff adviser on monetary policy before leaving in September to join the American Enterprise Institute in Washington. ``Not acting would be too much of a surprise.''
Traders estimate a 26 percent chance of a half-point reduction today, with a quarter-point fully discounted, according to futures prices quoted on the Chicago Board of Trade.
Recession Calls
Economists including former Treasury Secretary Lawrence Summers and the chief U.S. economists of Morgan Stanley and Merrill Lynch & Co. predicted a recession in the past month as strains in credit markets increased.
The collapse of the U.S. subprime mortgage market has led Citigroup Inc., Merrill and other banks and securities firms around the world to write down about $76 billion of losses and markdowns this year.
Concern about the mounting losses diminished banks' willingness to lend cash to each other, sending funding costs higher. The three-month dollar London Interbank Offered Rate climbed to as high as 65 basis points more than the Fed's benchmark rate last week. That's the widest spread, except for on Sept. 18 when the Fed cut rates, in seven years.
Yields on two-year Treasury notes dropped as low as 2.79 percent on Dec. 4, the lowest since November 2004, as investors flocked to the perceived safety of government debt.
Demand for Cash
The scarcity of cash comes at a time when banks typically conserve funds to buttress balance sheets before closing their books for the year.
The Fed's New York branch said Nov. 26 it planned a series of repurchase agreements extending into 2008 to help fill cash shortages. Stephen Cecchetti, a former New York Fed research chief, said officials may consider further steps, such as extending discount-rate loan terms to 90 days, from 30. The outstanding loans rose to the highest since September last week.
``If I backed myself into this position, I would grit my teeth and just cut, big time,'' said Cecchetti, who is now a professor at Brandeis University in Waltham, Massachusetts.
Some Fed officials indicated heightened concern inflation would quicken, before Bernanke and Kohn spoke two weeks ago. Philadelphia Fed President Charles Plosser said Nov. 27 that price expectations may increase because of the rate cuts. Kansas City Fed Bank President Thomas Hoenig dissented in favor of unchanged rates at the Oct. 30-31 meeting.
U.K., Canada
Any attempt to signal that inflation and growth risks are similar would be out of step with the Bank of England and Bank of Canada, which highlighted concerns about financial markets when they cut rates last week. The U.K. central bank on Dec. 6 echoed its Canadian counterpart from two days before in citing ``downside'' risks to consumer prices.
``Inflation risks are present, but it is very hard to argue they are on par with growth risks,'' said Brian Sack, senior economist at Macroeconomic Advisers LLC in Washington and a former researcher at the Fed. ``We'll see a more flexible message, more attuned to the downside growth risks.''

Country and western superstar Dolly Parton has infuriated a group of English local councillors by forcing them to delay their regular meeting when she visits this week.Parton is travelling to Rotherham in South Yorkshire to launch her children's literacy program, Imagination Library, on Wednesday.But some independent and Conservative councillors are outraged that Parton's visit will mean they have to delay by one hour a full meeting of Rotherham borough council so civic leaders can meet her."I'm boycotting the lunch and I am outraged that democracy is being put on hold because of a celebrity," independent councillor Tony Mannion told The Times."I have nothing against Dolly Parton. Not that I know much about her except that she sang 9 to 5."That's about the top and bottom of my knowledge. And I think the literacy scheme is a good idea."My objection is over the timing. We have vital business to discuss, for example the siting of a power station in the middle of a nature reserve. And we have few enough council meetings as it is."Mr Mannion said he believed Parton was invited to the town because the Labour-led council leader Roger Stone was quite partial to her country and western charms."I suppose my complaints will fall on deaf ears and that some might say it's a storm in D-cup, or double D-cup," Mr Mannion said."But it's the principle."

HOW GOOD ARE GOOD OLD BOYS FOR THE ECONOMY?

AT&T representative's attempt to get city support for a statewide cable franchise bill that would remove the power of local municipalities to establish and enforce regulations for their cable systems, and put it in the hands of the state, FAILS.
That in turn prompted the board to approve a resolution reiterating its opposition to the bill and sending copies to the county's legislative delegation, along with letters explaining their position. "This legislation will necessitate a state franchising process and diminish local authority to negotiate much needed (public education channels) and cable television service to schools and libraries," the letter states, adding, "Statewide franchise agreements will complicate the market and inhibit local monitoring of franchise fee payments and audits."

In this bloggers opinion, I do agree that the local authorities have every right to protect our interests however, I have a "gut feeling" they are protecting their pockets instead. It is absolutely clear that in fact if AT&T came in, it would cause our cable bills to drop due to healthy competition.
So to spin this and make AT&T look bad, the locals use common scare tactics to make people afraid AT&T will rule the world and force their children to watch bad television when in fact, all the local authorities would have to do is execute revisions in the documentations which would allow them to keep their local authority on incoming competitors like AT&T.

My brother works for a local telephone company in South Carolina and they do EXACTLY the same thing (not my brother, he plows cable). They (the local phone company in SC) have the entire area, which means they have the entire market with ZERO competition which means they can offer whatever they want, whenever they want and they can charge whatever they want and NO ONE WINS BUT THEM!

It seems to this blogger that TN Web Design is trying unsuccessfully to implement some sort of page content optimization for themselves???

Now here are a few more “don’ts” we found for the site:

The copyright expired 4 years ago for the content on this site which means either the site owner doesn’t seem to care about the homepage or in fact they don’t exist any more.

They offer services like “Search Engine Optimization”, or do they? The link takes you to another unrelated website…not crazy about that!

Then there is the “Fake Drop-Down” on the home page that again, takes you to a different website filled with terrible coding and offensive pop-ups.

So how did it rank high with http://www.sdwebpros.com/? Ask Google…that’s our answer!

Veteran Web Design:: Website design, marketing, and ecommerce – Home
The biggest “text” statement I can find on the homepage besides the error on line 114, was that the owner of the site is a military veteran and of course during a time of war especially that did tug at my heartstrings a little but immediately I got turned off by the blonde woman intruding on my web page and talking to the top of her lungs. I mean come on, what if I was trying to watch this in a library or maybe in a hospital lounge or in school areas? Things like video commercial containing annoying sound that do not give me the option to first turn them on, are big reasons for me to leave the page quickly and never return!

Company Page Link: This is a bit confusing but after several clicks you do find a contact template for that I only assume will work.

Portfolio: Not too bad. There were a few dead/broken links but for the most part I thought it was not bad!
Pricing: This is one I did a bit of research on before I decided to comment. Now, here you have a list of things they do with basic pricing beside them. However, it appears after some research, that you will NEVER get any of those services for the prices listed since things that normal web searchers would consider “standard/included” in fact are not. For example: Veteran Web Design offers an E-Commerce website. This means they offer to build a website for you which would allow you to sell items online. However, their price only includes, well we couldn’t really find out exactly what it includes! We did find out that it does NOT include the actually feature that is key for e-commerce called a gateway. Basically, if you want to sell on the internet, you have to have an e-commerce site and that site has to have a gateway (kind like a credit card machine). I don’t know of any reputable web firms that try to sell an e-commerce website that leaves the client unable to sell but in fact that is the e-commerce veterans seem to be offering!

Bottom Line:

We thought it would in fact be interesting to compare http://www.sdwebpros.com/ to some of the other sites that sometimes display in search results pages so that you could quickly see why they remain on top!

Dolly Parton will take her new single "Better Get to Livin'" to the streets of New York City when she kicks off the 2007 Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade on Thursday, November. 22.Dolly will be on the lead float to perform the song live and on television during the morning parade. "Better Get to Livin'" is the first single from Backwoods Barbie, her first mainstream country album in more than 17 years due out February 5. She wrote nine of the songs for the album and produced the CD with bandleader and guitarist Kent Wells."I've always dreamed of doing the Macy's parade," Dolly said. "I guess I don't get to watch it this year though...I'll have to tape it!"Dolly plans to tour in the U.S. starting in February, then hitting Europe in the summer before returning to the U.S. for dates expected into December 2008.In other news, Dolly's stage version of the 1980 film 9 to 5, will have its world premiere September 21, 2008, at the Center Theatre Group's Ahmanson Theatre in Los Angeles.

Vanderbilt's Bryant Hahnfeldt barely missed a 49-yard field goal with 33 seconds left -- the ball grazed the upright -- and the 19th-ranked Vols escaped with a 25-24 come-from-behind win over the Commodores on Saturday.
A 33-yard field goal by Daniel Lincoln with 2:46 left capped Tennessee's second-largest fourth-quarter comeback in history. The Vols came from 17 points down in a 30-27 overtime win over LSU in 2005.
Georgia beat Kentucky earlier in the day and would have won the SEC East and a spot in the conference title game if the Vols lost. Tennessee must beat Kentucky on Saturday to earn a trip to Atlanta to face LSU for a league championship on Dec. 1.
The Vols (8-3, 5-2 Southeastern Conference) entered the final quarter down 15 points after Vandy went up 24-9 on a 2-yard pass from Mackenzi Adams to George Smith with 9:00 left in the third.

When Timmons was asked why he chose Kingstree, SC as the location for the first annual Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library Benefit Concert, he responded “It’s the ONLY option as far as I am concerned! It’s my hometown, where I was born and raised, and I feel that since I have been blessed with such a great opportunity to help give back to my community, I absolutely must give it me best, regardless of what it will take to make this happen and you know it doesn’t hurt to know that an added benefit of all of this is that I am sure this will make my mama proud!”
During our interview, Timmons continued to reminisce of when he and his family were hard working farmers in rural areas outside of Kingstree city limits. It seems even though the days of farming and working at their family ran market “Timmons’ Produce” were many times hard, to say the least, Timmons wouldn’t want it any other way.
“I know that my work ethic and love of family and community are all because of the way my parents and grandparents raised me. There were MANY days that I absolutely hated farming and could wish for nothing else than to leave those fields and never look back. Well it’s 10 years this year that I have been in Tennessee (almost 7 hours away fro those fields) and honestly, I just can’t wait to get home now. It’s everything I can do to drive the speed limit once I get off that interstate simply because I am so excited to see my family and catch up on the goings-on. I see now and only now that being raised by a farming family that always struggled to make ends meet did in fact make me a stronger man and for that I am thankful. Now with this opportunity I have, I want to call on the community of Kingstree, SC to show the rest of the nation what we are all made of. The concert will raise money to help provide the Imagination Library program to the over 4,000 eligible children throughout the area and also raise awareness for the program to quickly become a reality for all children of South Carolina.
