Jumbo birthday surprise

I am falling in love with a chihuahua called Jumbo.

He belongs to Golf, a friend of boyfriend Maiyuu's. She has visited our place twice in the last fortnight. Jumbo, who has his own porta-home, comes too.

Maiyuu has invited Golf, her sister and a guy friend to our place early this week, to celebrate my birthday.

'I'll cook,' said Maiyuu, announcing my birthday surprise.

Of course they are bringing three-year-old Jumbo, who is the centre of attention at all times, and loves it.

Affected couch, bland bathroom

Fashionable condo interiors, somewhere or another.

I don't think I could live with bathroom, which is too heavily decorated.

Nor could I live with the silly sofa and cushions in the other shot. It looks too affectedly plush, and probably stinks of incense.

Of the two models, I like the one with the apple more. The other one looks so bland he may as well be stuck on the wall like that painting.

Scottie's swimming hopes

Can a bathing costume be too tight? A farang friend from my teenage years was a freestyle swimmer with national-championship, if not Olympic aspirations.

Scottie used to practise in specially-designed, paper-thin swimwear, designed so as not to retard his speed while ploughing through the pool.

This was 30 years ago, before the advent of the sleek Nasa-designed stuff they wear these days.

Needless to say, he also shaved his body hair, as that too could cause 'drag' (speed resistance): his legs, head, and under-arms were bare. For him, the stop-watch was always ticking away.

I saw Scottie perform at school swimming meets, though he would train most mornings before class.

He was good, needless to say...or as young ones put it these days, 'He was good...VERY good.'

I don't know what became of Scottie, unfortunately, as I moved to another country.

We moved far away...VERY far.

Scottie was one of my school year's most popular athletes, and one of the best-looking lads too.

His Mum and Dad drove him to succeed. Scottie, whom some thought was gay, had little free time to himself.

I never told Scottie, but I don't like what athletes do to themselves in pursuit of sporting glory. Hair? Let it grow!

Bathing costumes? Leave them off!

Strange fashions

This lad likes Diesel.

The model has at least two pairs, as the waistband is different in each.

I can't say that I like the scuffed and worn jeans, but that is fashion, these days...the uglier it looks, the more fashionable it is, apparently.

So, well-made jeans which still look new when you wear them...what have they become, square and out-of-touch?

Lose the hungry look

I fix Thais' busted English. That's my job, but just occasionally I would like to do something more creative on the visual side.

Take this model, for example. The chain around his neck is awful; how could the people responsible for this shoot not see it?

Not the make-up artist, not the hair-dresser, not the lighting guy, not the photographer, not even the young man's agent, assuming he has one. No one spotted just how ugly it looks.

He could be modeling the neckchain for a jewellery or accessories brand which makes them, but I doubt it.

It's there because some idiot thought it would enhance the picture. But it doesn't.

It gets in the way, and anyone with a half-decent eye would have removed it as soon as he saw it. He has a sensitive face, slim bod...what more could you want.

Well, a more creative pose, for a start. Lad pulls up singlet...how hackneyed and old. What, is he hungry?

Now, if they would just let me loose in their studio...

Backdoor adventurer

No, it's not what you're thinking. I am sure he's just admiring the view out that window. At least he's not making love to a wall.

Bangkok blogger Kawadjan called on skills he learned long ago to hug a wall in Thong Lor recently.

Climbing walls is a tricky business, even with a harness. How to keep one's gay form intact?

However, according to his blog post, Kawadjan and fellow-blogger BB, who mounted a joint assault on the rock face in Thong Lor - admittedly an indoors one for amateur climbers, with plenty of footholds - acquitted themselves without loss of face.

Sister blog BOTM will have a post on him tomorrow. Naughty Prem has been dressing as a girl for a cabaret act on TV, and his gruff boxing-promoter Dad is not happy.

Serious tennis players develop muscles on their serving arm. Freestyle swimmers end up with a bigger upper-body, and so on.

I can also wear hats, as I have a fine egg-shaped head (according to boyfriend Maiyuu).

I don't play golf. Many Thais do, but as I am not a member of the executive class, what would we have to talk about at the driving range, putting green, or wherever it is that they discuss board strategy and all that other power-male stuff?

Those shorts need hemming. How come I notice such things?

Girls observe small details such as whether the edge of someone's shorts look ragged, and need the services of a seamstress.

I find more of the girl inside myself every day. It's not a matter of whether other people notice; of course they do. I can't rely on them to tell me when my girl genes come out. Even if I had a mirror, I am not sure if I could tell myself how much of the girl inside is showing at any paticular moment.

I wake alone every morning, and have for years, though my boyfriend is only metres away, sleeping in the next room.

We sleep better when we are apart, but sometimes I feel as if I am missing out.

What is edgy...can it be defined? Why is it desirable?

We don't have to join the 'mob', to borrow from the Thai. It is the catch-all word which Thais use to refer to the anti-government People's Alliance for Democracy, which has taken over Government House. As they pronounce the English word, it comes out sounding like 'mop'.

I have been experimenting with a new Blogger feature which allows me to move pictures about a post more easily. I just put my cursor on these Asian models, and drag.

That sounds easy, but a five-minute trial of this new drag feature has has left my eyes swimming. These guys, like Thai guys when they get in a mood, do not budge easily.

For the time being, I have gone back to the old method of uploading pictures. If I want to change their position, I have to do it manually, by dropping the HMTL in a different spot.

For someone my age, getting used to technological change takes a while longer - so bear with me, please.

Still, at least these pictures of Asian models are worth viewing. As usual, they come from loyal reader Ian's private collection.

4 Romance: Mario, Pitch

Thai actors Mario Maurer and 'Pitch' Witwisit Hiranyawongkul, at a 'buang suang' ceremony held to launch production of the Sahamongkol Films romance, 4 Romance, held in Bangkok yesterday.

The two actors appeared together in the gay coming-of-age drama, Love of Siam.

They will appear in separate parts of this four-part romance, made by four directors, which opens in Thai cinemas on Nov 27.

Pitch also appears in a group shot with director Chukiart Sakweerakul (Love of Siam), and actor 'Non' Chanon Rikulsurakan (นน ชานน ริกุลสุรกาน), who also acted in Love of Siam. Chukiart, who is directing the pair in a segment called Dream, is the one striking a gay pose and wearing the large sunnies.

Both Pitch and Mario look puffy in the face. Maybe it was the sun.

4 Romance: 'Boy' Pakorn

'Boy' Pakorn Chadborirak, a Thai model and new face to acting, cast in the Sahamongkol Films romance, 4 Romance, which is about to start production.

Boy (บอย-ปกรณ์ ฉัตรบริรักษ์) posed for Image magazine in February, and recently appeared in a television commercial for HSBC Guitar Visa, and a music video by Thai band Endorphine, called Rak Krang Mai.

More of our Korean models. This young man looks surprisingly good in black. When I see Thai men get on the bus in lacklustre grey, I feel like telling them to wear something brighter.

But this model looks good in a black and grey combination: especially the shot at the top where he is walking towards us, wearing a grey T-shirt, black vest, and black trousers. My God, he even has a grey hat. How many of us could pull that off?

More of our Korean models. I love their hair. The long sockless angles are fun. I also like the sneakers, and the white singlet worn under the black dress singlet.

The best thing about these young men is that they are so long and stretchy-looking.
