Now that I've been "sitting" for a little over a week... mending the bones... I'm soooo tired of
reading, tv, phone that I decided to go to my fave love and blog-surff..

Well, I surfed onto Vanessa's Blog and her MAD TEA PARTY. Whata Hoot! I shoulda joined.
Anyway, go see afancifultwist and surf the other tea party attendees. I just loved some of them. What imaginations, what detail, and what great fun.

I'll probably play with the blog-tea-party next year. This year the ole, broken ankle kinda put a kabosh on being up and setting tables and asking the Mad Hatter over for tea.

If you're like me this year... won't have a lot of time to travel to a far-off-place for
vacation... So I've decided to take advantage of the GREAT vacation spots in
Omaha and surrounding area.

Mini Vacations.... Go home sleep in my own bed...vacations...
This is mom and me at the Botanical Gardens in Omaha. Taking the tram out to the end of the 100 acre gardens and then strolling back. BEAUTIFUL.

Go see the gardens if you get a chance. Could make an entire day of it if you wanted to. Wear sunscreen, take a hat.

Art Gypsy Caravan - Saturday June 13
at Timberview.

A small sampling of some of my new
stitching projects.

We all had fun and it was a great pleasure
to meet new creative folks.

AND... to get to say Hi, Hug and catch-up
with our friends.... THANKS for coming.

It was a beautiful day.. and the "lemonade" was great... Yes, my jug had a warning
label ,,,, for adults only. Nancy's lemonade was for everyone.

Sold some patterns, potted flowers and some hand painted newspaper. Hope we see all you again soon.

My art gypsy wagon...

Ok, I know it looks like a vintage 1959 camper - and it is, BUT with some imagination, some paint, some great new insides and - and - she'll be a sight to
be hold...

I debated for a long time to leave her vintage or to glam her up. Well, for those of you that know me........... Glam is the only way to go.

Her name is ANNWN - Celtic fairy for cauldron of plenty....

I figured it was a perfect name, as she will have plenty of creativity, fun, arts, crafts,
demos, and camaraderie. Maybe even a brownie or two. Brownie?? I mean the
chocolate kind.

ANNWN won't be making an appearance this SATURDAY at the show at TIMBERVIEW ,,, but all my new arts will.- so please come.....

I've really missed everyone and am looking forward to talking with all of you.

First Wednesdays SKETCH CRAWL at Timberview.
will go on even after ankle surgery... So don't put off giving yourself time to come and draw, sketch, paint.

Second Saturdays Gypsy Arts/Crafts at Timberview (after June 13th) will be postponed until further notice.

YES, I broke my ankle and tore a couple of tendons and
now will have surgery for some "repair"... Ai! Not a great way to spend summer vacation. But, I keep telling myself, it's only the ankle and can be fixed. PLUS, it will give me some sitting-around time to sew, paint, sketch,
think, plot, plan.....

Went to the Florence Mill today.... by the Mormon Bridge... What a treat to step back into History and a real labor of LOVE. The proprietress, Linda, has taken a run down relic of history and turned it into a real show-piece for Omaha. She's worked hard cleaning up years, decades of neglect .. she's worked and worked at raising the money for the restoration.. she's studied the true history of the mill and the years of
use and how the mill helped form the Omaha we know today.

If you, your club, your group want a true outing you should go for a visit. Linda has
regular OPEN hours and she will gladly give you the tour and as much history as you'd like.

Also, Linda serves a real-mill lunch for groups of 9 or more... It's called the FLOUR SACK PICNIC - a grain sampler sandwich (four diff.grain breads) grain base side dish, fruit cup, and an old-fashioned oat cookie plus drink....
You'll need to call to set your groups luncheon up... She even has straw bales for seats... it's all inside the mill.
I was thinking it would be perfect for your flower club ?? art club?? great place for a sketch crawl afternoon.

AND AND........Sundays 11am-3 is a FARMERS MARKET .... at the Mill......

AND AND AND .... Linda also has a great Art Gallery in the upstairs of the Mill
with different artists all the time and ART OPENINGs....

So give her a call. 402-551-1233 - Mill is open TUES-SUN. 1-5 ....

11:00 am ...ish.. Come when you can .. there's no set schedule, there are no fees.
BRING a sack-lunch, we'll provide beverage.

NOW,,, you don't need to be an artist. !! Just want to journal, sketch, doodle, draw - maybe even paint -- YOU DO need to like the out-of-doors and the camaraderie of like minded folk.

People ask me if I miss the studio?? well, kinda. Mostly I miss the camaraderie and the fun and the inspiration all the wonderful women gave to me. SOOOOO!!

I'm there every Wednesday and every Thursday. 10 to 5 ...

I've made gooood friends via ART and hope to continue doing same.

Art Gypsy Caravan at TimberView June 13th.

AND will be giving free demos ... So, bring your wire
cutters and needle nose pliers girls.

Weather permitting , the Art Gypsys will be showing their stuff 10 to 4 SATURDAY June 13th. Storms and heavy rain will keep us away, to come out and play another day.

Where, or where have I been?? Just was driving by Regency Shopping Mall and WHOA! there was Anthropology !! When did they put a store in Omaha?? am I the only one who didn't know ... that they're in my own backyard?? Ai!
Well, of course, I just had to pull in, park and go in and was not disappointed. I love their displays and merchandise and candles and oh yes, their dishes ........

There are currently displays of honey .... promo-ing a honey book ... Look what they did with honey-bear bottles.

I'm not a pottery-barn person, so I don't really get over to Regency.. but they've added a couple of cute boutiques that didn't disappoint either.. So, I guess that I'll have to go
down Pacific St. more often.

But cleaned and fabric covered with a crochet
border .... it becomes??

Anything you want.... I plan to plant an
African violet in mine and use as a little gift for
mommy's day.

Using beautiful yarns and threads from String of Purls for pin-weaving this heart box.

Then I added a crochet border and a scalloped crochet bottom edge.

Click on the photo on the right...to enlarge to get a gooood look at the beautiful
threads.

I did offer a class on pin-weaving.. in the studio.., . I'll probably be giving a free demo during the knit-in this fall... at TIMBERVIEW... see their blog... for details.

STRING OF PURLS

I lovelovelove yarns... ESP. when they're beautiful and exciting and of high quality... Really, girls, if you're going to go to all that work of knitting, crocheting you should use a yarn that's up to your worth.

My fave store is STRING OF PURLS... ON 87TH AND PACIFIC ST. in Omaha...COUNTRYSIDE VILLAGE ....www.stringofpurls.com...
Not only do they have fab-o yarns but they always - always have some great displays that will get you all excited about KNITTING, FELTING, CROCHETING.....

We're sooo lucky to have a store of this quality in our close proximity... We need to support them when we're in need of a great ball of yarn - .

If you are coming to TView from omaha - drive south on HWY 50...approx. 12 miles south of I-80...
Turn right onto HWY 66 (just 1 mile south of LOUISVILLE, NE.

Drive 3 miles to the entrance of TV...right next to PLATTE RIVER STATE PARK.....

IF YOUR ARE COMING FROM LINCOLN....
TAKE I-80 to EXIT 426 (same exit as Simmons
Zoo and Mahoney State Park) turn right onto
HWY 66... Drive about 6 miles and turn into
TV lane...
