I rearly have the tripod or monopod with me. I typically only use them for still life in darkened locations, like ferns in a forest or something. I have seen some great nature photograhs using tripods, but that's more of the "stakeout" approach, and I'm too impatient for that. One guy got great shots chipmonks doing amazing things like working under the hood of a toy car - he placed seeds in it and used a remote trigger.

Thanks, Will. We have a canon 70-200mm EL f4.8 "L" lens. Very nice, except on very overcast days. But, these were taken 5-15 feet from the birds. Hungry birds are just easier to photograph.
