Most of America relies solely on a private vehicle for transportation, it's just the way it is, not to mention our minimum wage right now is only a dollar and a half above what a gallon of gas costs. I have curtailed a lot of my activities due to the high gas prices -- we didn't go away this holiday weekend because of it -- but I have to admit I had a great time at home. I took in a festival, a parade, saw some fireworks and had a cookout. I'm actually not sure that I would have had so much fun if I traveled! If nothing else, the high gas prices have made me spend more time around town and realize what an interesting area I live.
