You can switch difficulty at any part of the game. It's easier to get your hero into HERO MODE and makes it easier to pwn the faces of things

Setting your Hero as a Dekapon is CHEAP
If you keep getting Hero Mode, your Hero Patapon will keep doing their "Hero Attack". I've only seen this with Robopon, Dekapon, and Kibapon, but the Hero will never stop attacking as long as you keep the attack song up.

Having your Hero as a Dekapon is INSANE, because you never stop attacking the boss, and it has monstrous HP, also, Dekapons can't be knocked back. Most of the time, the rest of my army is dodging, but my Dekapon Hero is attacking, stun locking the boss.

It's not for the faint of heart, but the only boss I don't think it'll work on are the Birds and the Transforming Dog/Bird shit.

No Longer Stuck with a class
If you played the last game, you had static units, and if you wanted to upgrade to a stronger/different patapon, you had to dismiss the unit and recreated. Now, they have a Class tree where you can level up the different classes and switch before any mission.

This is good because each class has it's own positives and negatives, and the missions are so varied. Some times, you might need to stock up on Ice resistant Patapons, other times you'll need to do all Fire resist, or Super Critical to stun bosses.

It added a new dimension to the game, but makes it so that farming/grinding plays a bigger role than before.

More rewards from minigames
But they do this because you have to grind a LOT more. Also, the minigames can "upgrade", giving you access to better rewards and higher-tier items.

Hero Patapon makes the game too easy sometimes
Seriously, this guy can easily change the tide of battle.

--------------------------------
All in all, I love Patapon 2. Best part was that I didn't even need to go to the store to buy it!

Renarudohttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17013716286520453119noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-37687258.post-76545484555700015422009-05-11T12:50:00.002-04:002009-05-11T13:40:15.184-04:00This Blog Is Alive, AND SO IS MY PSP!!!So another winter passed, and another PSP broken. I think I should keep these in my front pocket where they'll stay warm.

So anyway, this time, I decided to fix the screen myself. Dropped $60 on a replacement and it came in from Asia. THEN THE FUN BEGINS!

DISCLAIMER: THE MEMBERS OF SONY REPORT ARE PROFICIENT TINKERERS AND DO NOT CONDONE DOING THE SAME THING TO YOUR PSP UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES. IT IS BEST TO EITHER HAVE YOUR PSP REPLACED, OR TO TAKE IT TO A TRAINED MECHANIC. THE PROCESS REQUIRES A FUNCTIONAL KNOWLEDGE OF ELECTRONICS, HARDWARE AND THE CONCURRENT SYSTEMS ATTACHED TO THEM NECESSARY TO MAKE PARTS REPLACEMENT FLAWLESS. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO DO THIS UNLESS YOU ARE 100% SURE OF YOURSELF, BECAUSE SONY REPORT WILL NOT REPLACE YOUR PSP, NOR WILL THEY OFFER ANY MECHANICAL ASSISTANCE WARRANTING FAILURE, BREAKAGE, LOST SCREWS, LOST PARTS, OR DAMAGED REPLACEMENT SCREENS.

DO THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK

So when the damn screen was on, this is what the little bastard was showing me.

How nice of him, no? Well there are 6 screws that need to be taken off of the PSP before you can crack the face. I don't feel like taking a jillion pics, so their locations are:
- 2 at the top of the PSP
- 1 at the bottom of the PSP
- 2 to the right of the UMD case
- 1 underneath the battery (below the sticker)

For this project, all I used were:
- "Eyeglass" Screwdrivers
--1.8M/m Phillips
--1.2m/m Flathead)
- Can of Compressed air to remove dust

Anyway, take the face off the PSP, and this is what your PSP's Skeleton will show up as!

Not too pretty, right?

Next thing to do is to CAREFULLY remove the bottom green strip.

And with a slight twisting motion (you'll need to do this on both sides), it'll snap off very easily.

Then it's time to CAREFULLY take off the old LCD screen. There are notches in the screen that "connect" it to a metallic frame.

These "pop" out with little effort, and are on both sides of the screen.

On the Chassis of the PSP, there are two connections to remove.

This is the data conenction to the LCD screen. This can be accomplished by sliding a small flathead under the black flaps and slightly twisting the flap up. Very simple.

The next connection can be removed the same way, and is the Backlight connection

OPTIONAL. To remove the connection for the "home bar", remove this.

Makes it easier to replace screen, but isn't really necessary.

Reverse the directions, taking great care, and TAKING YOUR TIME. It's annoying to put those connections back in, and there is metal framing that Sony Engineers decided to put at the top of the PSP to annoy me. I completely screwed in my PSP before I realized I moved a piece the wrong way.

But if you're comfortable doing hobbies like this, then little hiccups shouldn't be a problem. It makes the ordeal very fun, and makes you value your PSP more!

And Sony didn't do a bad job of engineering this piece of metal and plastic.

Renarudohttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17013716286520453119noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-37687258.post-47231774370815918832009-02-26T03:00:00.001-05:002009-02-26T04:19:47.286-05:00[Updated 2/26] Notable PS3 GamesGames that interest me in some fashion, either in passing or with a fever pitch. Wish ListI was looking over Ren's wish list and just wanted to toss out my opinions on some of the game. For those of you looking at this list and wondering if you should invest in list as grand as this or not.

Now this is a pretty ambitious list to start out with, and unfortunately Ren's missed out on some good stuff in 2008. Hopefully he’ll be able to start joining in on some of the awesome that was 2008 on the PS3. Even as much money I dump into my gaming, I don’t have all the games on this list, but I have a number of them or some experience with them. So here’s my take on some of his selections!

Bioshock – A really great game that I’m glad made its way to the PS3. Great mix of FPS and RPG with a story that slowly eats at you along the way. DLC is exclusive to the PS3 but I haven’t tried any of it out yet due to how heavy October was with game releases.

Burnout Paradise – A year later this game still calls to me. Legendary car pack was released last night offering tributes to the Back to the Future Delorean, Ghost Busters’ Ecto-1, Knight Rider’s K.I.T.T., and Dukes of Hazards General Lee giving players even more toys to play with. Flawless offline and online integration, absolutely no lag in any online play, and continued support from Criterion/EA for a game released over a year ago now.

Cuboid – For those who love puzzle games, Cuboid is the game for you. Simple game play with great challenges and Trophies. Background graphics and textures in the puzzles are nice, but the transitions from puzzle to puzzle looks like an old PS2 game. All around a very enjoyable puzzle game for $9.99. Great use of a 10 spot if you ask me.

Gran Theft Auto IV - I own this game and sadly I still haven’t opened it. I bought this when I bought GT5:P and just went from that to other games. With the addition of Trophies I really should go back and rake some in, but at the same time I haven’t touched GTA III: San Andreas either.

GT5: Prologue – Referred to by many as a $40 demo, but there is still a lot of fun in this game. Still has a huge online community, lots of features, and let’s not forget that it looks amazing. Play back of races are routinely mistaken for actual video footage. Yes, this game looks that good!

Killzone 2 – Having played the demo since I pre-ordered the game, I went and bought the original game. I wanted the story behind why you’re suddenly invading this planet, what the motivation was, why so much hatred for the Helghast. Only to find out why the first game was reviewed so poorly and didn’t sell very well. But there is a hint of a story there. I am now excited for Killzone 2 because of the continuation of the story and for the amazing visuals in the game. This game pushes the visual feel of games, and I’m excited to see what it inspires.

LittleBigPlanet – Can’t be praised enough. It just won 8 AIAA awards last night, keeps releasing new fun each Thursday in the way of levels, stickers, and costumes. The hugely successful MGS pack reiterated that there’s pretty much nothing this game can’t do or be. Levels based off movies or other games have been awesome, new levels with their own stories and follow up stories are amazing. Many gaming sights still do a weekly creator list or favorite level list. This game is going to be relevant and awesome for a very long time. This is the title that sells and sells over time.

Lumines Supernova – If you loved any of the first 2 PSP games as much as I did, you will really enjoy this. Music selection isn’t as great, but the visuals and the challenge are still there. It’s just as addicting as ever, and now you can collect Trophies for doing so. Those score a double win in my book!

PixelJunk Eden – PJE as I’ve taken to referring to, is an odd platform game that is immensely enjoyable. As you progress through the different gardens – each level is called a garden – the difficulty ramps up. It challenges you all while encouraging you to get the 100% completion. As you get to the higher gardens getting the 100% Trophy for that garden becomes more and more difficult but it just looks and sounds so good that you keep coming back for more.

PixelJunk Monster – Continuing on in the glory that is PixelJunk, PJM is another beautiful game with enough of a challenge to appeal to a wide range of people but is still simple enough to draw in even the most casual players. It’s a basic Tower Defense game that simplifies the usual game play, but it still stays deep enough to challenge some of the more experienced Tower Defense gurus.

Resistance 2 – In my eyes this is the best FPS I’ve ever played. Greater than the original Unreal Tournament, better than the original Half-Life, looks awesome and no online lag. Flawless 64 player battles, 8 player co-op, your standard FPS game modes, great visuals, HUGE battles, voice chat with no lag, and a hint of more to come in a likely Resistance 3. Controls for this game are amazing and it’s the first console FPS I haven’t wished I had a mouse and keyboard for. I have convinced 5 friends to buy this game and they are all glad they did. Our weekend co-op sessions are challenging, intense, fun and hilarious. Even if you feel the story from the campaign mode is lacking in the least bit, the online play more than makes up for it.

Super Stardust HD – SSHD was the first Trophy enabled game, and it took a game that was already fun for the random pick up, and turned it into an obsession. I created a silent war between two of my PSN friends as I tried to beat their high score or their Trophy count, and I think they did the same thing with me. I’d randomly sign on and see they beat my score or got another Trophy and I immediately rushed into to take the lead again. Great for a casual 15 minute gaming session, great for an obsession 2 hour stint as you try and claim the Stock & Awe Trophy that I hate so much. (Even my damn sister has this Trophy and it continues to elude me!)

Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix – Is a great homage to the old arcade days. Plunk down your quarter and call next. Get in bang away at the sticks and hope you were still standing at the end. Often running into that one kid who we all knew never went to school and spent all day practicing on the same damn quarter for hours; God I hated that kid! Now you can enjoy the classic in HD and truly see the racist backgrounds we all ignored when we played this game in the early 90s. (Pay attention to the T. Hawk level. Apparently kids in Mexico can’t afford clothes.)

Street Fighter IV – I hate Seth. I hate that they named the final boss Seth, I hate that they named him after a pretty cool guy over at Capcom, and I hate that he’s the most cheating boss in cheating boss history. But I love this game. I was never a huge fighting game player, because I suck at almost all of them. I’ve only ever been good at 3 fighting games in history. Marvel Vs. Capcom (Spidey was just too fast for most people, and Wolverine was just brutal.), Killer Instinct

Uncharted: Drakes Fortune – Nathan Drake is the first potential mascot for the PS3 and he tried to carry the torch but just didn’t have it. At first. With out Trophies most people would have never gone back and taken this game up again. It’s a good game, but it has it’s flaws. (ie, why does it take 4 shots to the forehead of a thug and still not kill them? Why do all the thugs look like stereotypical South American drug lords who obviously love Scareface action scenes?) Even with those flaws people went back and played the game through two or three times to get all the Trophies and has everybody excited about Uncharted 2.

Warhawk – It’s difficult to describe the awesome that flows through Warhawk. Another PSN game with zero lag, good community, tons of people still play, and some continued developer support. The enhancements were welcomed in all but one instance, even going as so far as adding new game play mods. My only complaint with this game is the addition of the jetpack. It breaks some of the most enjoyable maps and set ups because you can completely avoid where all the fun used to happen. When I play I avoid levels with the jetpack, but that’s just a personal preference and I know a few who love the jetpacks. But every time I jump in there’s always somebody around to play, the Trophies are well named and challenging enough to make you fight for them. A great 3rd Person Shooter with a lot for everybody. Planes? Got 'em. Tanks? Got those too. Jeeps? Yessir you can run people over in Jeeps! Anti-air Turrets? Oh yeah! Available in Blu-Ray and direct download from the PSN. Get your Warhawk anyway you can!

So for those of you who haven't read this here are some other reason why you should own a PS3 already.

tdhhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11625895532646917551noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-37687258.post-73839632252105708822008-12-23T22:59:00.004-05:002008-12-25T14:04:11.954-05:00DLC - December 23rdHappy Holidays! Let's get this rolling because I have a TONS of stuff to play and I'd rather be doing that right now. Sorry, but I've always been open about my priorities! So let's treat this like the speed round! To the links!

IGN PS3
PlayStation.Blog

SALE
Jeopardy is the only package to get the sale treatment this week, and it's not a limited time offer! From here on our Jeopardy is going to float you $9.99 - nothing more, nothing less!

Add-Ons
BUZZ! Quiz TV National Geographic: Undersea ($7.99)

More fun to be had with more ball packs for High Velocity Bowling this week. Not sure how much content they're going to release for this game but they sure have been releasing a lot of stuff here lately.

Patches Pack One - free

Gutter Bird Ball - free

I don't think there's been any free DLC for Hot Shots Golf up to this point, but I guess they're in a giving mood! For the awesomely festive price of free a new character has been introduced to Hot Shots Golf. Welcome Toro as we all wish they would also add Trophies to the game. MOAR TROPHIES PLEASE!!

Speaking of Trophies, if you own LittleBigPlanet there's no reason for you not to spend at least $5.99 today. There's a ton of new content and some of it even comes with Trophies. For the first time we recieve premium level packs that actually come with new levels and TROPHIES!!! For $5.99 the Metal Gear Solid Level kit comes with new stickers, new levels, new Trophies, and the PAINTINATOR! I'm going to spend the $5.99 for the Level Kit as well as the $5.99 for the MGS Costume kit and be extremely happy about it. I know some people have been vocal about the costumes being over priced, but I've enjoyed the little $2~5 I've spent on the game so far, and I think this whole set is going to be absolutely worth it. Check out the article for the video on the new levels. Trust me you won't be disappointed with this $6.

Solid Snake Costume - $1.99

Meryl Silverburgh Costume - $1.99

Screaming Mantis Costume - $1.99

Raiden Costume - $1.99

Metal Gear Solid Costume Kit - $5.99

Metal Gear Solid Level Kit - $5.99

It's been a while since I've put some serious time in to PAIN, but I did play for like 10 minutes the other night. I still have to unlock a lot of stuff, but I'm still tempted to get the new character just to have them all. I bet he'd be fun for some of the combos due to his sheer.... girth. For $.99 grab sumo character Ao No Kutsu.

Disgaea 3 Adell DLC - $1.99
Disgaea 3 Disgaea 2 Character Pack - $4.99
Disgaea 3 Nekomata DLC - $0.99
Disgaea 3 Rozalin DLC - $1.99

Nothing like releasing a game with DLC goodiness. Almost as good as Dead Space releasing DLC the week before game release. But LUMINES Supernova flies in a little higher priced than I had hoped, but I'm still going to get it and the free Holiday Pack to go along with it. Not sure if it's Christmas songs or what, but I'm sure I'll play like crazy!

Demos
Demos... which I have absolutely no time for, but I did manage to play NBA Live 09 demo last night and I was actually impressed with it. I haven't been impressed with a basketball game in a really long time, but I was actually enjoying it. I still absolutely suck at them - just like I have since Double Dribble for the NES - but it was fun. After a few 2 quarter games I was able to not get crushed and only lose by 2 or 3 points, but check out the demo and/or the game if you were worried like I was.

As for this week, we just have 1 lonely demo amongst all the other awesome game and DLC that I won't likely play for another month or two.

The Lord of the Rings: Conquest Demo

Games
Finally the time as come! LUMINES Supernova flies in for $14.99 - which as I already was higher than anticipated - and has me very excited. Trophies, make and add your own music, game modes, and let's not forget awesome game play on my wide screen HDTV! Those last two would have been good enough for me honestly.

For the rest of the people who have cried for PSone Classic games, today we can enjoy the old skool RPG of Suikoden. For $5.99 you can go through the process of regaining all the 108 characters from the game on your PS3 or PSP. For those that embark on this epic journey - again - I will pray for your souls.

Videos
I'm really surprised at this, but there's only one video this week. Now I'm glad it's this video, as I always forget to check out the webpage - since it's not on the PlayStation.Blog, and it gets annoying watching it inside of Home because of all the text chat popping up. But here's our lone video for download today.

Games
PULSE 12/23 Edition

Themes
Lots of pay themes today. The usual junk, but the Batman theme is kind of nice. The rest is basically crap and I can't believe somebody makes these let alone approves storage space on the servers.

Disgaea 3: Absence of Justice Disgaea 2 Character Theme - $0.99

The Dark Knight: Batman Theme - $1.99

The Dark Knight: Harvey Dent Theme - $1.99

The Dark Knight: Joker Theme - $1.99

University of Virginia - $1.99

School Girls - $1.49

Digital Blast - $1.49

Bikini Photo Shoot - $1.99

Alpine Winters - $1.49

After all the pay stuff, there's only one free offering for the rest of us and two Savage Moon wallpapers to toy with.

Resident Evil: Degeneration Theme
2 x Savage Moon Wallpaper

Well that's it for me, time to go work on my new Trophies I've just gained access to. I have to get up early tomorrow and I'm not going to bed early tonight. Tomorrow's going to be a rough day!

tdhhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11625895532646917551noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-37687258.post-37344957386674410952008-12-18T23:04:00.004-05:002008-12-23T22:59:33.115-05:00DLC - December 18thIt's Thursday again. The last one before Christmas, but don't worry there's still going to be a store update date next week. And it had damn well better have my Lumines Supernova with it when it comes. (Don't mind me.) Either way we still have some goodies this week to play with so let's get cracking! To the Links!

PlayStation.Blog
QJNet - European Update

SALES
I'm not surprised we have a sale item this close to the holiday but I'm a surprised at the game. The recently released Supersonic Acrobatic Rocket-Powered Battle-Cars has lost some weight so soon after initial release and now weighs in a skinnier $9.99. Now I'm not sure if this a full time price cut, or just for a week, but let's see if this can drum up some sales for the insanely long named game.

Add-Ons
LittleBigPlanet continues it's run of DLC this week with free stuff and pay stuff. To go along with the Santa pants and Santa's coat. This week we pick up Santa's hat and beard for absolutely free. For an additional $2.99 you pick up new items for your Pop-It and new stickers that are Christmas themed, and two more costumes. So this is a big chunk of newness for only $3. Personally I think it's well worth it, and I have already downloaded and installed it! See you in LittleBigPlanet.

Not letting LBP take up all the good holiday fun, High Velocity Bowling flies in with new content as well. Two costumes are free and two will run you $.99 each. I think if there was a demo for this I'd be inclined to actually buy the game.

This week in Guitar Hero World Tour, it's Eagles week! Three songs from The Eagles - each $1.99 - and The Eagles Track Pack which includes all 3 songs for a discounted $5.49. Personally I would buy this if I had World Tour!

Rock Band Thursday floats in this week with plenty of country music for fans. So for those of you who have felt left out by the music selection within Rock Band, here's their first attempt to branch out. Each song - 5 in all - is $1.99 each and the Going Country Pack 1 is $8.49 giving a slight discount to pick up all 5 songs at one time. All I know is a song with a name of Hillbilly Deluxe (From Brooks & Dunn), it has to be even partially enjoyable.

Hot Shots Golf hasn't had a lot of new stuff released for it in a while, and sadly I still haven't touched my copy since May sometime. But for those of you not completely hooked on LBP or Resistance 2 like I am, there are new costumes available for your golfers for a low low price of $2.99. For me it's all Kratos as far as I'm concerned!

Not to be over looked in the myriad of music based games, Karaoke Revolution Presents: American Idol Encore 2 floats in with 5 new tracks at their usual $1.49 price range. I still have an issue with a game name that's likely longer than some of the songs they're offering.

PS3's exclusive NARUTO: Ultimate Ninja STORM releases yet more content for the game that seems to have been received with opem arms by a number of Naruto fans I know. Another free pack is released that adds in a new legendary ninja as well as new Ultimate Missions to play through. Seems like they're trying to be another Burnout Paradise with new free content.

Looks like we also have a new music based game in town. Rock Revolution, which I've only heard of vaguely but is in no way a reflection on this game, shows up for the first time with DLC. Each song will run $1.49 and there are 7 total song. For $5.49 a pack includes all of the 7 songs at pretty big price cut.

Demos
Recently we had the MGS4 demo show up at the PSN, and this week we get a crack at MGS4 Online. Gives those of you who haven't had a chance yet, to try out the online action and get hooked.

The last few Sonic games haven't really been enjoyable, however this new game is supposed to give it another twist but still get back to the speed of the old skool games. I'm hoping it does, so I'm going to check out this demo with high hopes. Nothing quite like the crazy sensation of speed you could get from the glory days of SEGA. Check out the Sonic Unleashed Demo even if it's just for the nostalgia.

Games
Crash Commando gives me a Warhawk like feel to it, and I know it's completely off based. I think I'm going to end up getting this game, mainly because of the recently released trailer released yesterday. Of course it does have online play and bots and Trophies (WOOT!) and does kind of look fun, I'm still on the fence with this. We're expected to get a foot of snow this weekend so I may buy that instead of going to the movies on Saturday. We'll see.

Penny Arcade Adventures: On The Rainslick Precipice Of Darkness: Episode 2 is now available for the PSN as it was released a while ago for "that other service." I was tempted to buy the original but sadly it released at a bad time. Releasing in the month of October this year was just a rough month to enter the world in. $14.99 brings you the second episode in what has to be just insanely silly.

Castlevania Chronicles doesn't even require a comment. If you ever played any Castlevania game you've played this one, and know it's worth the $5.99.

I think I still own the original PSone disc for RAYMAN 2: The Great Escape, and if I do it's the game my sister played until she wanted to throw the original Dualshock out a damn window. She loved it, and couldn't stop playing, but the horrible issues with camera angle on the jumps just made her scream. She'd probably say it was still worth $5.99, but she's not here to ask currently! Check it out!

I actually bought Tokobot used when I originally bought my PSP, and it wasn't a horrible game. It's a platform puzzler with a quirky story and even quirkier mechanics, but it's enjoyable. I don't think I paid very much for it at the time, but I can't say I spent $10 on it. A friend of mine borrowed it once just for the sake of trying something different and he actually enjoyed it as well. Tokobot UMD Legacy will run you $9.99 at the Store today and I guess I'd recommend it to somebody looking for something new with enough of a challenge to still satisfy.

Videos

Games
UNCHARTED 2 Spike TV VGA Tease
Crash Commando Trailer
HVB: New Characters Trailer
GT5 Prologue - Tanner Foust: Drifting 101
Gran Turismo Awards at SEMA 2008
The Next Great Game Gods: Dylan Cuthbert Interview
The Next Great Game Gods: Pixeljunk Interstitial
Sonic Unleashed Launch Trailer
The Punisher: No Mercy Game Trailer
Mirror’s Edge DLC Trailer
PS3 “Murals” TV Spot
PSN “T-Shirts” TV Spot

Movies
Resident Evil: Degeneration Blu-ray Trailer

Themes
Lots of horribly put together "Premium" Themes tonight, and as I see more and more of them I really wonder who puts these things together or approves them to be sold on any service. I go through and look at the previews and I just can't believe how horrible they look. Never mind how ridiculously sexist they are, they just look horrible. Either way, if you're deciding to spend your money, here's what they're offering.

Rock & Roll Babe Theme - $1.49

Ohio State University Theme - $1.99

Misty Dawn Theme - $1.49

Ink and Saints Theme - $1.49

Dancing Skies Theme - $1.49

Azmodeus Dark Angels - $0.99

On the free side of the street we have the following.

Super Stardust Portable Theme

Savage Moon Theme

There are two Crash Commando Themes this week and they're basically the same with just slight variances of the icons. The background looks like there's a lot of mayhem induced fun being had, but not impressive either. It's a simple theme, and I'm sure there are people out there that this will appeal to. Currently I'm rocking the PJE theme that's just simple and awesome as far as I'm concerned!

As silly as it might strike you at first, the SingStar ABBA Theme is actually pretty fabulous! (Yes, I had to go there.) The icons are simple but fitting, the pure "Glam" of the background fits completely and would be a lot of fun for any ABBA fan out there.

In the wallpaper section we get a few, just nothing I'd use. The detail in the Tom Clancy wallpapers is amazing, and then Crash Commando just looks fun.

Tom Clancy’s EndWar Spetsnaz Guard Brigade Wallpaper (x4)

Crash Commando Wallpaper (x2)

tdhhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11625895532646917551noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-37687258.post-6582159736733630212008-12-11T23:32:00.007-05:002008-12-13T22:15:38.519-05:00DLC - December 11thWell it's Thursday and I'm saddened. (Wow that looked so horribly spelled!) See I was all geeked up because a puzzle game I've truly enjoyed over the years, and has made the purchase of my PSP absolutely worth it and more, was said to be released today for the PS3. It was to come with all sorts of goodies. Trophies. PS3 exclusive skins. Ability to make your own tracks. All around everything I would have hoped for a new game in this series, and alas it's not here. For those of you who don't know, the game I speak of is Lumines Supernova. As soon as I heard this game was coming to the PSN I busted out my nearly forgotten PSP so I could practice. I actually got in bed with the intent of going to sleep and instead played Lumines II for two hours when I should have been sleeping. (Man that day at work really stunk!)

Well the whole store update wasn't a complete waste, and the today itself isn't all bad for PS3 owners. In case you have been hiding under a rock for months, you should have heard that PlayStation Home was released to open beta to the masses. And the masses immediately got hit with problems. Checking the post over at the PlayStation.Blog resulted in elventy bajillion comments of connection errors. Seems the sudden influx of millions of people around the world attempting to connect has resulted in connection problems. The post in question received 700 plus posts at last check and I think 650 of them were "I'm getting a connection error." I'm currently waiting for mine to update, but when I logged into Home last - three nights ago I believe - everything was as smooth as could be expected.

Well enough about my whining (Lumines Supernova I long for you.) and everybody else's whining ("Errors: D35 C-931 C-991 and so on") time to get on with what we do have today. The Links foo'!

IGN PS3
PlayStation.Blog
ThreeSpeech - European Store Update

Add-Ons
There's nothing quite like Christmas cheer as far as I'm concerned, so when you get to traipse around in some of your favorite video games as good Ole St. Nick, I say it's a good time! Lots of new costumes for LittleBigPlanet this week, and the Santa pants and coat are all lined up. If you progress far enough through the game, there is a Santa hat and an appropriate beard for the whole ensemble.

Some people have complained about the pay costumes for LBP, and so far I've had fun with them and have bought all of them. Today, to go along with the recent Super Street Fighter Turbo II HD Remix we can also dress up as some of our favorite Street Fighter characters and kick butt in LBP. Here's the full list of today's available costumes, make sure you pick the free stuff!

Santa Coat and Trousers - free

Zangief - $1.99

Guile - $1.99

Chun-Li - $1.99

Ryu - $1.99

Street Fighter II costume kit - $5.99

High Velocity Bowling seems to have quite a following, and to say thank you for said appreciation the guys over at SCEA San Diego continue to give out new content. Today you lucky Bowlers pick up a new ball pack - that will run you $0.99 - and Tiff’s Big Zero Trick Shot Pack for free. I'm not sure if, like the name implies, you will now have a Trick Shot option for the game or what. What I'm sure a lot of those Bowlers would really like to see would be Trophy support! NEED MOAR TROPHIEZ!

Tom Clancy’s EndWar was a game that I thought was an amazing idea for a game, and if implemented properly could be a damn fine game. Sadly I haven't had time to even play the demo that was released a while ago, but either way here's some new content for those who do. The Escalation Expansion Pack will run you $9.99 and brings in 4 new missions and 3 new units to get in the mix. The 4 missions appear to be in different areas spread across the globe and across the various alliances in the game itself. Considering how much content appears to be in this game, and now the content added in this pack, I don't think owners of the game will have an issue with it's $10 price tag.

STAR WARS: The Force Unleashed, as promised, releases new missions. The costumes itself didn't seem that interesting or worth the price for this game, but the mission is something I was interested in. For $9.99 there's a new mission that takes place inside the Jedi Temple on Coruscant. I don't know all the lure, but I didn't think the temple would really have any use this far after Order 66 was executed at the end of Episode III. Either way I'll eventually get this and play through it, but for now I'm saving what's left of my money not being spent on Christmas presents on Lumines Supernova and likely Crash Commando.

As I mentioned the TFU costumes, there's also a costume pack available as well. This week for $4.99 you're welcome to what appears to be a group of mystery costumes. I can't seem to find out the list of costumes included. It likely says in the description at the store, but that requires me to log out of echochrome and login to the Store. Sorry!

Age of Booty continues to help Capcom truly support the PS3 by showing up with two more Map packs. Map Pack 4 and 5 will run you a nice holiday spirit inspired free. Looks like 4 new maps, and each map has 3 different configurations to tailor it towards different battles. Pack 5 also has a new game mode called Triple Trouble included. 4 maps with different setups and a game mode all for free? Happy Holidays!

Guitar Hero World Tour starts out with some heavy hitters this week. Releasing three Nirvana songs and Nirvana Track Pack to go along with it. The other pack is dubbed European Track Pack and includes 3 bands I've never heard of before. Either way each individual song will run you the usual $1.99 and each pack rings up at the usual $5.49. Personally I have to think the Nirvana pack has to be worth it!

Rock Band comes in today and brings with it an albums worth of No Doubt songs. I swear every time I hear No Doubt I think of Chris Rock's most recent comedy special. If you haven't seen it, go do so now!) 13 No Doubt singles will run $1.99 each, but for $19.99 you can snatch up the The Singles 1992 - 2003 Album which includes all songs. Only draw back is that it appears that album pack doesn't include 2 songs off the actual album but 13 No Doubt songs has to be some kind of win!

Not wanting to be left out in the cold, Mercenaries 2 releases some free goodies today as well. Blow It Up Again Content Pack comes with, from what I can gather, some new game modes. With names like Urban Rampage, Death Race, Arms Race, and Mercs Blitz it sounds like a lot of explosions and mayhem and fun.

Karaoke Revolution Presents: American Idol Encore 2didn't want to get left out today so it shows up with 4 new songs of it's own. Each track is the usual $1.49 but does include "Over the Rainbow" and "Heart of Glass" which could potentially be fun karaoke songs.

Demos
No demos of any kind today which is odd because today's the first time I would have had time to spend with a new demo. Since the game I was expecting didn't show up I could have played a demo. I guess I'll just spend some more time with the echochrome Trophies.

Games
I don't think I've ever even heard of PowerUp Forever until today, and I over looked it for most of the evening because I assumed it said "Lumines Supernova." Once I started prepping this post I finally paid enough attention to see PowerUp Forever. From what I can gather, it's another Shoot 'em Up game. No clue if it supports Trophies, and I'm running into resistance trying to find game play footage. I think I'll stick to Blast Factor and Söldner-X for now.

Videos

Games
BRAIN CHALLENGE video - PSP
LOTR: Conquest Good to be Bad Trailer
Resistance 2 Accolades Trailer
Xam’d: Lost Memories Release Announcement Video
Xam’d: Lost Memories Exclusive Interviews

Movies
Batman Tech Video
Not Easily Broken
Paul Blart: Mall Cop Trailer
Step Brothers Blu-ray Trailer
The Messenger: The Story of Joan of Arc Blu-ray Trailer

Themes
No pay themes this week, but we get almost a handful of free themes. The three Resistance 2 themes are nearly interchangeable. Similar icons, and the same R2 themed sounds for each one, just different backgrounds. They're not by any means, just not great either. I think the backgrounds could be a little crisper but again they're not bad.

Resistance 2 Americana Theme (free)

Resistance 2 Man vs. Chimera Theme (free)

Resistance 2 SRPA Team Theme (free)

The Xam’d Lost Memories Theme is quite simple and is based on the PSN only anime that's released weekly. I've never seen the show, despite wanting to, mainly because of the pricing scheme of the show. But there are 2 videos released this week on the PSN that seem a lot like DVD~esque extras to give you a taste of what's going on.

On the wallpaper side of things we only have one and honestly it would have to be for the most extreme Mountain Dew enthusiast. But if that is you, make sure you download the Mountain Dew Wallpaper and put it to good use as I deleted mine already.

Well I guess here goes hoping that Lumines Supernova actually comes out next week, but until then I'm going to continue practising on Lumines II for my PSP.

tdhhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11625895532646917551noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-37687258.post-6724408606707814232008-12-04T23:56:00.004-05:002008-12-05T01:26:06.765-05:00DLC - December 4thIt's Thursday again, and the first PS Store update of the month so that means lots of goodies and this months Qore episode. Well this month Qore is available to everybody. It's available for download - absolutely free - to all PSN users to let them know what's in Qore. Another gift for those who check out the free episode of Qore will receive goodness in the form of the FLOCK demo. A game I'm kind of excited to check out, as I often have 2 player non-online gaming going on around here and we like variety! Well on to the links, so I can get to playing my new game!

IGN PS3
PlayStation.Blog
ThreeSpeech - European Store Update

Add-Ons
What's another Thursday with out some new LittleBigPlanet costumes? To continue with the new stuff to download and enjoy with an already awesome game, this week we get free only costumes. For a lovely zero dollars you can welcome the Kabuki Actor to your Sackperson collection. Personally I think that looks awesome, and is fitting as I just crossed the Pacific into Asia last night. (I know that may seem a little slow, but I don't progress to the next region until I have 100% in all current regions.)

Age of Booty brought with it the Capcom store front inside the PS Store and this week it brings along new booty! Arrrrrgh!

Map Pack 1 - Oasis & Slow and Stead

Map Pack 2 - Tight Passage & Tug of War

Map Pack 3 - Bombs and Whirlpools & Bloody Wake

All three are absolutely free, so no reason why you shouldn't download and enjoy. Merry Pirate Christmas to ye!

Far Cry 2 comes out from the desert to take your money with the new Fortunes Pack for $9.99, and I must say it brings with it a fair amount of stuff. For a 10 spot you get 2 vehicles, 3 weapons - including a silenced shotgun (WTF?) - and 4 maps. Sounds like a pretty fair share of content for $10. I don't have the game, and not all that interested in buying it but this isn't bad at all.

GRID has been out for quite a while and I can't recall if there has been any other DLC released for it. Either way today they release new content for those avid GRID players. 8 new cars, new online events, and appears to be just the first of a trilogy of new content to be released for the game. After further inspection, the cars list looks pretty nice.

McLaren F1 GTR

TVR Cerbera Speed 12

Mitsubishi 2.0 Turbo Lancer Evolution X

Honda S2000

Nissan GTR GT500

VW Nardo

Pontiac Firebird Trans AM

Volvo C30 Green Racing.

Looks like something for everyone there.

Continuing along with the FREE theme of today's update, NATURO: Ultimate Ninja STORM drops off a new support character and a new Ultimate Mission, before it disappears into the darkness again. I thought the demo looked great, but I'm not a Naruto fan or a big fighting game person. So I won't be getting any use out of this free goodie.

Rock Band Thursday is back after last weeks Turkey filled extravaganza, and is back with 9 new songs, and no packs for the first time in a long while. Songs ranging from Naked Brothers, to American Rejects to Squeeze. Full song can be found at http://www.rockband.com/music, and boy are there a lot of songs!

Guitar Hero World Tour DLC is in full swing with the Smashing Pumpkins this week. Three songs available individually for $1.99 a piece and the obligatory pack for $5.49. I actually like the Smashing Pumpkins, I may have to see if I have some of their MP3s around here.

Staying in line with the music theme, the ridiculously long named Karaoke Revolution Presents: American Idol Encore 2 also has 6 songs available for $1.49 each. As usual there are no bundles to be found for the game with the 70 syllable name. O.K. that's a slight exaggeration it's only 18!

SOULCALIBUR IV didn't want to be left out of the DLC bandwagon this week with a new Customization Equipment pack that looks like allows you to turn Ivy or Amy into a sexy Mrs. Claus. Nothing says holiday cheer like a scantily clad Mrs. Claus wanna-be.

Demos
No direct demos today, but there is the Flock demo available through Qore, so make sure you download both of those. Scroll down to the bottom of the Qore main menu and select the Downloads area for whatever other goodies are in there along with FLOCK! Make sure you also hit L1!

Games
When I first bought my PSP I wanted Archer Maclean’s Mercury but it was never in stock - used or new! Well now you can download it for $9.99 from the PS3 Store or using the Media Manager. At this point I've bought 5 PSN titles in the past two weeks so I'm going to hold off on this, but I will add this to my collection sooner or later.

I must confess that I don't know much about this Brain Challenge game, but it is $9.99 and is available from the PS3 Store as well as through the Media Manager. Sounds like a puzzle game.

Super Stardust Portable, a "sequel" the awesome PSN title that helped user in the Trophy era is now bite sized and ready for portable consumption. Same basic idea, but it does have it trick of it's own up it's sleeve by adding a PSP only game mode. Videos look like it's just as much fun as the PS3 version, but I'm still nervous about how the controls will work with the PSP's distinct lack of dual analog sticks. I'm hoping for a demo first, but I honestly do want this beauty. I'd also like PSP Trophies that we could sync with our PSN Trophies via the Media Manager but do we all get what we really want?

Everyday Shooter was a game I always thought would make a great PSP game. Well it seems a few other people had the same thought, and a plan was set in motion. After reading today's article about how it came to be I've decide to finally pick up the PS3 version and the PSP version. For $9.99 this game is awesome and worth every penny, especially for those who use mass transit. Great way to start off your morning, who needs Folgers?

I've been excited about Soldner-X: Himmelssturmer since I first caught wind of it. R-Type~ish shoot 'em up with Trophy support is just what I need to help me push my PSN to Lv.6. (I'm at 80% and so close! NEED MOAR TROPHIEZ!!) Videos of the game look hectic and frenzied all while looking amazing and running in at a lovely 1080p resolution and will only run me $9.99! This is made of win all the way around as far as I'm concerned.

Videos

Games
BAJA: Edge of Control - Launch Trailer
Ben 10 Alien Force - Making Of Trailer
Facebreaker Audition Video #4
Facebreaker Audition Video #5
Life in LittleBigPlanet: Ep 4
LittleBigPlanet WELCOME TO MY WORLD Video
Mercenaries 2 Blow It Up Again Trailer
Prince of Persia Dev Diary 2
Prince of Persia Dev Diary 3
Resistance 2 - Last Hours
Savage Moon Trailer
Soldner-X: Himmelssturmer Trailer

Themes
Sadly there aren't any free themes for the PS3 today, and there were so many places where they could. New games released, Prince of Persia dropped this week, and an oldie PSN got an update to the Trophy era. But here's the list of "Premium Themes" but honestly I can't imagine anybody would buy these.

Lingerie Girls Theme @ $1.49
University of Florida Theme @ $1.99
European Highlands Theme @ $1.49
Bloodwork Theme @ $1.49
Atomic Acid Theme @ $1.49
Metal Battalion Maidens Theme @ $0.99

Fortunately we get a few wallpapers that we can try and mix and match into our other free themes so we have at least something everybody has a chance to play with.

SOULCALIBUR IV

Holiday Hilde

Holiday Ivy

Soldner-X: Himmelssturmer

Wallpaper 1

Wallpaper 2

All wallpapers are free, but also aren't really that inspiring. NOthing quite like last week's awesome Prince of Persia wallpapers.

tdhhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11625895532646917551noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-37687258.post-21765318248705061842008-11-26T02:03:00.003-05:002008-11-26T03:07:25.098-05:00DLC - November 25thDue to the holiday in the USA this week, there will be no update for the PS Store on Thursday, as not many people will have time for games due to the family festivities. So to make sure we do get something fun this week, our store update is Tuesday. So let's get to work!

IGN PS3
PlayStation.Blog

SALE!!!
Every now and again the PSN puts some oldie but goodies on sale, and it appears we some more of that this week. Starting today until next Thursday the following PSN games are at a reduced price of $4.99.

The Last Guy - Have and my sister and I love.

PixelJunk Eden - Great trippy platform game.

echochrome (PS3) - Picked up tonight.

Novastrike - Has Trophies that appear to be easy to obtain so I bought.

Wolf of the Battlefield: Commando 3 - Demo did not appeal to me.

Add-on
LittleBigPlanet RAWKS. To continue the awesomeness that is consuming mine and a few of my friend's souls, Media Molecule releases more costumes for our beloved Sackperson. For free, to help the USA celebrate Turkey day, LBP can download the Turkey Head Constume. Looks pretty funny, and I think when combined with another random body piece from another set it could be quite enjoyable.

However I think the real fun comes with the Chimera costume today. For $1.99 you can gear your Sackperson up as the not so loveable Chimera from the Resistance series. As I'm currently playing through R2, now using a Chimera dressed Sackperson to torment the levels of LBP with a nice mean looking Chimera!

Guitar Hero World Tour comes through this week with three new songs from The Killers. As usual they're priced at $1.99 a piece but come wrapped up in a nice bundle for $5.49.

Rock Band Thursday arrives early this week with some of the same songs available in GHWT and then some. Looks like we have two more packs today and 9 individual songs. Three from The Killers, three from Yngwie Malmsteen - who I've never in my life heard of, two songs from Soundgarden and a lonely song from Lamb of God. Each of the songs is the usual $1.99 and the two 3 packs are each $5.49. Further reason why this game isn't for me, is the fact that I've never heard of most of these bands/groups. I've heard of The Killers and Soundgarden but that's it. Well RAWK out on Rock Band Tuesday!

Karaoke Revolution Presents: American Idol Encore 2 has made an appearance two weeks in a row! Showing up with 4 total songs, each song running $1.49 and must be bought individually. Would have been nice if there was a "Gimme it all" button with a nice rounded out price tag on it. But I guess it's American Idol, and they have to find any excuse to ruin your idea of music. I'm sorry, did I mention I have an extreme dislike for American Idol?

Demos
Few weeks after the release of Dead Space and all the extra videos that have been available, we finally get a sampling of the game itself. I know three friends who have or are playing this game and they all seem to really enjoy it. One of which bought nearly all of the additional DLC that released last week. I'm on the fence about buying this one, but mainly because of all the games I have to play. 3 new PSN games today, other PSN games I haven't played a lot of lately, a full Blu-Ray game that I haven't played since the developer won't finish the game. (Yeah, I'm looking at you Slant6.) So I'm just too busy to pick this title up, much like Fallout 3. So I'll pick this up so I can get a true feel for the game and then decide if I should get it with the eventual Christmas gift cards.

Games
Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix has been a long time coming, and finally the wait is over. New HD visuals, new backgrounds, some re-balancing of characters and online play has been added. I've always sucked at fighting games, but I've always enjoyed Street Figher the most. So I absolutely dropped the $14.99 required for this gem and have been stinking it up here and there all evening. I really hope Capcom gets on this and releases Trophies for it soon , as well as adding Trophies for Bionic Commando: Rearmed. I'd recommend this to any fighting game enthusiast, though I'm sure I didn't have to recommend it.

Brain Challenge seems to be a Brain Age type puzzler for the PSP that's available at the PC Store through the Media Manager or through the PS3. From what I can gather there are a range of puzzle mini-games to play solo or online. Seems like a pretty good concept, especialy considering how well Brain Age has sold over the years.

PBR, despite what some people would tell you, does not stand for Pabst Blue Ribbon. PBR Out of the Chute uses the PBR from Professional Bull Riders. I have no idea if this is an older game now available for download, or if this is a new game. I've never heard of it and can't imagine a Bull riding game personally, but that won't stop everybody it would seem. So if you're a big PBR fan - again, not talking about beer - go check this out and let me know what it's about.

Music
To go along with the new Super Street Fighter goodness, they also released new tracks used in the new game. I believe the 5 tracks are exclusive to the PS Store, and sadly I haven't had a chance to listen to them yet. But no reason not to pick up all 5 songs and listen to them at least once.

Videos

Games
Dew Tour: Orlando - Orlando BMX Highlights
Dew Tour: Orlando - Orlando Skate Thrills
Everyday Shooter Trailer
Dew Tour: Orlando - Orlando FMX Recap
Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe Fighting Mechanics Trailer
Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe Story Mode Preview Trailer
NBA 2K9 Iguodala Trailer
NBA 2K9 J In Your Face Trailer
Prince of Persia - Art Video
Prince of Persia - Dev Diary 1

Movies
Punisher: War Zone
Lost: The Complete Fourth Season

Themes
With all the goodies coming out today, I'm kind of disappointed that there isn't a theme to go along with the new Street Fighter goodness. But there are a few wallpapers to take a look at.

3 - Prince of Persia Wallpaper

3 - Super Street Fighter II HD Turbo Remix Wallpaper

Well I have a lot of games to go play now, so I'm off to really enjoy the update. Try to stop sucking at SSF2!

tdhhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11625895532646917551noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-37687258.post-59459415080676511322008-11-20T14:20:00.006-05:002008-11-21T02:30:26.745-05:00DLC - November 20thWell it's that time again. Time for people to be happy at the release of great new content at the PS Store, or the time for others to complain because they enjoy that more than they do actual games. And people wonder why I stopped visiting forums or commenting at most blogs. Either way there are new toys to be had, and I will have them! For a while we will likely only see new costumes, but in some cases those are more than worth it! This week, to coincide with the release of the LocoRoco 2 demo, you can now dress up your Sackperson in the lovable LocoRoco costumes.

Now the LocoRoco 2 pack includes 5 costumes but will run you $2.99 - money I plan to spend as soon as the update is released - but for those of you who don't want to spend the money you'll have something new to play with as well. To continue with along with the Official in-game SackBoy costume contest Media Molecule has released new costumes based on those winners for the low, low affordable price of FREE! This week we seem to have gained a Poltergeist inspired costume, that was later adjusted slightly. But welcome our newest Sackperson!

As promised, we also receive Bioshock exclusive DLC this week.

For paltry $9.99 you can pick up a new "game mode" called New Game Plus that allows you to go through the game with all the items, weapons and abilities you earned through a previous play through of the game. The other addition is the Challenge Rooms. Something to add new difficulty and creepiness to game that deservingly won VGA GoTY for 2007. I'll pick these up eventually, but currently LBP and R2 are king and queen of my gaming hill.

Guitar Hero World Tour flies in this week with three songs and a pack from The Raconteurs. Each song is $1.99 each and all three for $5.49.

It's Rock Band Thursday, so you know what that means! It means RB cames out in force to show off in the face of all the other great DLC available. Today we get three different packs for three different groups. So for those Mission of Burma and Dead Kennedys fans make sure you pick up the 3 song bundles. If you're not excited about those there are girl band songs to pick from as well, taken from various girl rock groups. Each of the packs run in at $5.49, and of course they can all be bought seperately at a $1.99 each.

Not to be left out of the musical mix, Karaoke Revolution 5 songs for your karaoke pleasures. Each song weighing in at $1.49, and will have to bought separately. The game's full title is Karaoke Revolution Presents: American Idol Encore 2, so the songs may not have an artist listed next to them because they were recently performed by amateurs. I don't watch much TV, but I can tell you I for damn sure don't watch American Idol.

The lion's share of DLC this week comes from EA who likes to throw out content like their lives depend on it. Fortunately they're not pulling the same thing they usually do with NFS content by selling you content you'd unlock if you actually played the game itself. Some of them are just skins for weapons and armor, while others actually bring in new weapons. From what I have been able to confirm from people who have actually played the game, none of this content is currently in the game and the only way to obtain it is via these packs. So this week, for all your Dead Space fans out there, this is for you!

Astronaut Pack - $2.99
Big Gun Pack - $0.99
Heavy Damage Pack - $2.99
Hot Rod Pack - $0.99
Military Pack - $3.99
Obsidian Pack - $1.49
Obsidian Weapon Skin Pack - $1.49
Pedestrian Pack - $1.49
Scorpion Pack - $3.99
Scorpion Weapon Pack - $2.25
Speed Kills Pack - $2.25
Tank Pack - $3.99

Demos
Sadly there's only one official demo for North America today, and considering how lack luster the game looked in recent videos I'm not sure I'll even play it. This week we have MotoGP 08 available for download. A number of the past MotoGP games have been amazing looking and pretty true to the sport. Recent videos released for the game looked extremely grainy and rather unimpressive. I'll have to try it out ultimately but currently I'm in no hurry and have other demos to play.

Now as I said, MotoGP is the only demo for North America this week. For those who have PSNs for other territories it's time to put them to good use.

Europe

For anybody who played the original LocoRoco demos, you may have become a huge fan of the game because you spent enormous amounts of time playing the demos. For those with EU PSN IDs, you're treated to a crack at the new game. The original game released 3 demos I believe. The original demo, a Halloween themed demo, and then a Christmas themed demo. I still have one of them on my PSP MemStick that I random play despite actually owning the original PSP game as well as the PSN game for the PS3. It's just simple enjoyable game play that in part helped inspire Patapon and the upcoming Patapon 2. What more can you want from a game? Great game that helped inspire another great game? As a friend of mine once said to me, "that's portable pwn!"

Has the same basic game play, but this time the music requires user intervention. This time you have timed button presses to play the songs required to interact with various species. There are other new additions where your LocoRoco basically man... a vehicle for lack of better concept. Entering a ball that's used to break down barriers or cutting through barbs or enemies. Looks like they took what was truly enjoyable about the first game and just tried to add a few extras to make it fresh. So far it's enjoyable and I plan to pick it up when it releases.

Japan

The reason I went to check the Japanese PS Store today was for Patapon 2! Which I guess is fitting since it was Patapon that made me go through all the work of creating a Japanese PSN ID in the first place. Fortunately with the new Media Manager having the PS Store integrated right into it's nice and easy to switch from region to region. Also making it easier to set the account info stored on the PSP to the proper zone required for each demo/game. Unfortunately I haven't had time to play this just yet as I've been playing Resistance 2 and LocoRoco 2 all night, but I will get to this tomorrow most likely.

Games
No games today for this region. I believe Europe picked up a SimCity 2000, but nothing for North America. I know next week we're picking up Super Street Figher II HD Remix on Tuesday. Not sure if the whole update will be done on Tuesday because of the holiday here in the US, or just SSFIIHD. Either way I'm hoping for two games next week: Street Fighter and Söldner-X. But I guess it's for the best as I'm playing so many different games right now anyway.

Videos

Games
Dew Tour: Orlando - Chad Kagy
Dew Tour: Orlando - Adam Jones
Dew Tour: Orlando - From Flow to Pro
Dew Tour: Orlando - BMX Dirt Dew Cup Race
FIFA 09 “In The Game” Part 8 - Online Team Play
Lord of the Rings: Conquest Trailer
MotorStorm Pacific Rift Features and Strategy Trailer
Mortal Kombat vs DC Universe: Kreating the Comic Trailer
NBA 2K9 Momentous #1 Trailer
NBA 2K9 Momentous Trailer 2
Tom Clancy’s EndWar Launch Trailer

Movies
Hancock Trailer
Incubus “Look Alive” Trailer
Sara Bareilles - Between The Lines Trailer
This Christmas Trailer (Blu-ray)
Tenacious D - The Complete Masterworks Trailer

Themes
Two free themes today, both to coincide with their releases.

NBA 2K9 Theme comes with a few videos for the game this week, ramping up for next week's release. Of all the sports games I've always thought basketball players looked the creepiest. They're always covered in sweat that's no well depicted and something's often off. Well this theme kind of creeps me out. Watching the two videos listed above, this game looks like one of the first true representations of basketball, but if you get a straight on view of just about any of the players and they look like something out of a horror wax museum. This one uses icons of the various players in the lone wallpaper, who just stand their looking at you lost. I'll continue to use the same theme I've used for probably the past 3 months.

Hancock Theme which goes along with the trailer released in the store today and next week's Blu-Ray release of the movie, flops down on the store. The icons are nicely done, but the wallpapers aren't very inspired. In fact the first one that loads features both Smith and Theron, and the way it's present Theron isn't presented very well. Almost as if she's "half pregnant" and blending in with the background when in the movie she was about as gorgious as she's ever been. I enjoyed the movie myself, but it wasn't the greatest. If you were a real fan of the movie this may be of interest to you.

6 Premium Themes, and not all of them even have previews set for them. So for a number of them you don't truly know what you're paying for. Still nothing yet to interest me, as far as quality and thematically.

Timea Mojorova Theme - $1.99
University of California Theme - $1.99
Shadowy Graves Theme - $1.49
Darklight Fractais Theme - $1.49
Mrs. Claus Theme - $1.49
GunGirls Theme - $0.99

Well that wraps it up for this week, time to fire up LBP and get back to work! See you guys next Tuesday. I should probably do some thumb exercises to get my thumb ready for next week's battles!

tdhhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11625895532646917551noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-37687258.post-49365937729318089772008-11-13T22:34:00.006-05:002008-11-13T23:59:06.007-05:00DLC - November 13thIt's Thursday so that means it's Friday Eve and PS Store day! LOTS of stuff to download today so let's cut to the chase. I wanna start playing the LBP stuff ASAP! One of the things my sister and I enjoy about LBP is the crazy mix and match costumes you can set up. Like my Zebra Super Pirate. So the new toys that come for LBP today should be fun - and yes I bought all of it!

MotorStorm Stormers Costume - $1.99
Sack-Eating Plant Costume - free
Lilly Pad Costume - $0.99
Hugo Costume - $0.99
Great Blue Costume - $0.99
Frost E Costume - $0.99
Animal Costume Bundle - $2.99

Hot Shots Golf Out Bounds is a great game and a lot of fun, and I honestly have to admit that I haven't played it since... May. I started to buy the Kratos DLC back when it came out but I think another game released around that time and I spent most of my time playing that instead. Either way, today we now have the Costume Pack 2 for $2.99. I guess it comes with the "fall wardrobe collection" giving you - with all variations - 30 new costume combos. Just what the fashion conscience golfer who plays online needs!

As I've stated before PAIN is one of the few games that's fun whether you're playing it or watching somebody else play it. Due to many other distractions I haven't touched it much since after Trophies were released for it, but today we get new content. PAIN Movie Studio Lot flies in to add a new venue for torturing your character and the beloved (In Germany) Hoff is now a playable character. Now I originally thought the Hoff was just part of the Movie Studio but no. You will have to drop the $5.99 on the Movie Studio as well as $1.99 for The Hoff to get your hands on both. I'm going to pass for today as I'm crazy about LBP and R2, but I will get these probably sometime soon.

EA went nuts this week with enough content to choke a horde of football fans. To make it even better a vast majority is absolutely free. Since soccer, as I've always called it, is truly an international sport they've releases commentary packs for just about everybody except Klingons. I'm not sure to what extent the commentary adds to the game, but you can't hate free stuff.

FIFA 09 Brazilian Commentary Pack - FREE
FIFA 09 Czech Commentary Pack - FREE
FIFA 09 Dutch Commentary Pack - FREE
FIFA 09 English Commentary Pack - FREE
FIFA 09 English #2 Commentary Pack - $4.99
FIFA 09 French Commentary Pack - FREE
FIFA 09 German Commentary Pack- FREE
FIFA 09 Hungarian Commentary Pack - FREE
FIFA 09 Italian Commentary Pack - FREE
FIFA 09 Mexico Commentary Pack - FREE
FIFA 09 Polish Commentary Pack - FREE
FIFA 09 Portuguese Commentary Pack - FREE
FIFA 09 Russian Commentary Pack - FREE
FIFA 09 Spanish Commentary Pack - FREE
FIFA 09 Swedish Commentary Pack - FREE

To continue EA's off loading of content the newly released NFS: Undercover - which I don't have yet - receives it's weight in content as well. It's nice to see this stuff available, however most if not all of this content can be unlocked in the game if you just play through. Which, the last time I checked, was the purpose of the game in the first place. Either way here are the goods and the pricing break down.

Aftermarket Body Kit Package ($2.00)
Aftermarket Hood, Spoilders and Exhaust Package ($2.00)
Aftermarket Wheels Package ($2.00)
Collector’s Edition Upgrade ($10.00)
Exotic Car Bundle ($7.50)
Muscle Car Bundle ($5.00)
Paint and Vinyls Package ($2.00)
Pro Handling Bundle ($2.75)
Pro Power Bundle ($3.75)
Race Handling Bundle ($2.25)
Race Power Bundle ($3.00)
Street Handling Bundle ($1.75)
Street Power Bundle ($2.25)
Tuner Car Bundle ($5.00)
Ultimate Performance Bundle ($10.00)
Ultimate Visual Bundle ($5.00)
Mr. Meier has been generous with his DLC as of late. Making sure to offer something up to everybody as well as content for those who must have it all for affordable prices. This week I'm not entirely sure what these packs do exactly, but if you pick up all packs that have been released so far you'll have spent $3.75 I believe. All that extra fun for an already great game at such a low price sure makes a gamer feel loved. Thanks again Mr. Meier!

Multiplayer Map Pack 1: Elemental - free
Multiplayer Map Pack 2: Terrestrial - $1.25

We all knew that STAR WARS: The Force Unleashed would come with DLC, but it seems that most of it will fall under costume packs. Meanwhile it may be fun to go through the whole game as Luke Skywalker I hope they do more levels like the one's they've announced rather than just release a $5 costume pack like they're doing today. Now the pack does include 7 costumes so it's almost worth $5, but I'd rather have a whole new level to rip through instead. Here's what you get from your STAR WARS: The Force Unleashed Costume Pack 1 including links for those of you who may not recognize some of the less well known characters.

Jedi Knight Anakin Skywalker
Jedi Knight Obi-Wan Kenobi
Jedi Knight Luke Skywalker
Imperial Commando
Darth Sion
Jedi Master Ki-Adi-Mundi
Jedi Master Kit Fisto

The Secret Apprentice also picks up the following 3 new costumes.

Hooded Combat Gear
General Starkiller
Sith Assassin

Guitar Hero World Tour drops some Hendrix and REM on us today. The Hendrix pack comes with three classics today. the Live version of Fire, and If 6 Was 9, and Little Wing. REM songs can be purchased individually or in a pack, the Hendrix pack comes bundled or not at all. But honestly if you have GH:WT, you'd buy them all bundled anyway!

Rock Band drops an album's worth of songs today. I'm not a big RTS person really, but this one is tempting. For me it just came at the wrong time. For $9.99, had this released in September I would have picked it up most likely. I know quite a few people are excited about this game, and there is supposed to be a demo coming out for the game sometime soon, so depending on if I:

Actually play some of the insane amounts of demos I've downloaded.

Enjoy the demo enough.

I may actually buy this one. I figured we'd get some Age of Booty swag or some more LBP stuff to go along with the new costumes.

Well now that this is all taken care of, I'm off to play with my new costumes in LBP. One of which is the new "launch" costume of the Space suit. There was also supposed to be a Media Molecule t-shirt available that is missing and rumored to require a $2 contribution. Well I thought all of them were going to release this week and put $10 on my Wallet to be ready. Well I'll still have $10 on there but nothing to buy this week. Both costumes will be available for free for the next week I'd wager. So if you plan to ever buy LBP, download these so you have them available when you do buy the game. They won't always be around.

LittleBigPlanet Halloween Mask Costume

LittleBigPlanet Spaceman Costume

With the continued theme of "I haven't played demos," Tom Clancy’s EndWar is out and I'm still looking forward to trying it. Either way we already have DLC in the way of FirstWar Enlistment Pack. Pack costs you the gamer a big goose egg - we like free - and adds 3 unit upgrades. Make sure to snatch them up and make use of them.

NARUTO: Ultimate Ninja STORM Pack 3 adds a new mission and a support character. I played the Qore demo a while back and meanwhile the game looks great, I'm not a fan of the show or those types of games. So I'll just have to assume it's awesome and adds to a game that seems to have reviewed well.

Guitar Hero World Tour is starting to get off the ground with 3 new songs this week and a pack to go along. The Another Way To Die song from Alicia Keys and Jack White is a nice touch. I could see how this would be great for a game like World Tour or Rock Band. Good Bond plug as well.

It's Rock Band Thursday and we're rewarded with 3 "election themed" songs and a corresponding bundle, and then two previously released songs at a discounted price. Check them out at the Rock Band store or at the PS Store.

Demos
Despite hearing that no MGS4 demo would be available, Metal Gear Solid 4 Demo is available for download today. For those of you who haven't bought the game since June (ie, Me) now's a chance to sample a master piece and decide if this game is for you. When the game released I was busy with other things and never went and picked it up. I plan to play it eventually and I think this is a demo I'll actually get to. I have demos from the start of October I still haven't touched. See above for why.

Lots of sports games coming out this time of year, so which one should you pick up? Well here's your chance to test drive the NCAA Basketball 09 Demo and decide if this is the college hoops game for you.

Games
No games today, but considering how many games have dropped recently who needs more PSN games? I did buy Prince of Persia Classic when it released, and it's been neglected since. I try to play some before I head out to work, but that's about it. We're supposed to see Street Fighter II HD Remix this month and Söldner-X is supposed to drop as well. I half expected a Presidential theme to show up. So her are a few college teams, a few more "male oriented" themes, and an odd spider theme.

University of Alabama Theme - $1.99
University of Wisconsin Theme - $1.99
Bikini Fashion Show Theme - $1.49
Sexy Ninja Girls Theme - $1.49
Spider Webs Theme - $1.49

Now on to the free themes of the evening.

Tomb Raider: Underworld Theme - Black and white is a nice crisp theme with a gritty wallpaper that is 2/3 perfect. The right third of the wallpaper is on a stark white background so any icons that are on the side of your display are impossible to see. However Lara looks like she's just cleaned up a heated battle and is rendered in her full sexual glory. (I will say it's kind of refreshing that they reduced her bust size to actual real world dimensions.)

Tomb Raider: Underworld Theme - Environmental is poorly named but looks amazing. Icons are simple but very sharp looking. Looks like the ink used for the image of Lara is running in some places like they're falling off her, and is a great effect. Just nothing about this theme says environmental outside of the slight hint of a jungle mount in the upper right hand corner. Looks great and these icons would be awesome with other background as well.

High Velocity Bowling New Characters Theme is as retro as ever with some great old bowling alley sounds to go right along with it. I'm still not a fan of the style, but I could see where this theme would be fun for some people.

PixelJunk Monsters D Theme, that I expected to release last week with the Trophies update, shows up and keeps up with all the previous PJM themes. Only thing missing are the usual coin sounds when navigating the XMB. Icons taking on the same style as the Trophy icons with the Village Chieftain peeking through the trees as if looking for more coins or gems. Great addition.

Well that's it for me, I'm off to play some more LittleBigPlanet. I wanna mix up that Pumpkin head with my CRAZY Zebra Pirate costume!

tdhhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11625895532646917551noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-37687258.post-36824007559312425072008-10-30T23:17:00.006-04:002008-10-31T02:36:33.503-04:00DLC - October 30thPer usual my intro consists of why I'm not going to be playing any of the demos and how you'll have to do it your self, and this week is no different. With my addiction to LittleBigPlanet grows, especially now that server related issues with levels seems to have been resolved, my playing of this master piece is now in full swing! That being said that does not however mean that I still don't download everything. Well here's what we have.

PlayStation.Blog
QJNet

Add-ons
Months and months after the initial release of Civilization Revolution the DLC really starts pouring in. For the second week in a row now new content and fun is available for your pocket change.

The Mythic @ $3.75

The Iconic @ $3.75

The Eternal @ $3.75

Each of the packs brings in new wonders and artifacts along the lines of pack's theme. The Mythic pack brings in wonders like Lighthouse of Alexandria, and the Leaning Tower of Pisa while Eternal brings Eiffel Tower and Tesla’s “Peace” Ray. All in all looks like a good addition of content.

Guitar Hero World Tour shows up with only one song this week, but I guess considering how new the game is, they figure you're playing the songs it comes with. Go pick up No Rain by Blind Melon for $1.99

Rock Band Thursdays as always comes along with 7 new songs and song pack. I should probably have done some research since now I'm wondering will all RB1 songs work in RB2 since it's now in full swing. Surprising enough I've never played a single game of Rock Band or Guitar Hero.

Demos
Mirror’s Edge Demo is now available and has many a gamer excited; including me. A new fresh take on a first person action adventure and from EA no doubt! I'd probably be playing it now but a few people are catching up to me in our combined Trophy addiction so I must continue to play LBP. I want more Trophies but I'm putting off finishing the game because the levels are so awesome! Go figure.

Tom Clancy’s EndWar isn't so much a "me game" but all the videos I've seen for it have my interests piqued. If they get this right games like this could take over the world. Global World War III happening in everybody's living rooms and favorite chairs with out anybody getting hurt.

I'm no fan of wrestling, and haven't been since the late 80s or the very early 90s, but I can't deny that wrestling games have often been a lot of fun. Tonight we get to find out what "new" can be brought to an on going franchise in a sport I think is slowly dieing out. WWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2009 Demo brings tag team action that could actually be quite enjoyable for once. I'll check it out this weekend... I think.

Alone In The Dark: Inferno has a huge following and I think if not for those huge masses of fanboys, this game would have stayed an 360 exclusive. Now it's getting a "make over" and is it wrong that I couldn't care less. Year later releases of games that didn't do so hot on other platforms don't interesting, and hell even year old Game of the Year game don't always grab my attention. I'll try the demo, but every time I see news about Alone in the Dark it's just sounds like whining followed with delay. Eventually I'll find out if I've been harsh for no reason.

Videos

Games
Life in LittleBigPlanet: Ep 3
MotorStorm Pacific Rift Stormer Trailer
MotorStorm Pacific Rift TV spot (60 sec)
SOCOM: Confrontation Behind the SEALs - Part 2
SOCOM: Confrontation Behind the SEALs - Part 3
SOCOM: Confrontation Behind the SEALs - Part 4
Far Cry 2 Anything Goes Trailer
Far Cry 2 African Swim
Guitar Hero World Tour Ozzy Osbourne Vignette
Guitar Hero World Tour Sting Vignette
Midnight Club: Los Angeles Trailer #4
Midnight Club: Los Angeles Cops Trailer
Stormrise: Echelon Snipers Engage Trailer
Stormrise: You Are In Command Trailer

Movies
You Don’t Mess With The Zohan Trailer
Casino Royale Collector’s Edition Trailer

Themes
No themes or wallpapers today, but there's now an option to preview themes that wasn't there originally. You can actually make them widescreen to get an idea of what the them will actually look like on your display but keep in mind it is just a stretched image so the image quality will obviously look much better. I'm still wondering why they thought they should start charging for these themes, especially after looking the college themed ones. Wow.

There's supposed to be a PixelJunk Monsters update today (Tonight, eventually, here soon) that includes Trophies, XMB music support, YouTube Support and difficulty settings but it's not available yet. I was kind of excited to see how those play out. Since LBP didn't drop I had "time" for another game. Nevermind it would make more sense to play other games I've neglected like... I dunno. STAR WARS The Force Unleashed. My still unopened copy of GTA IV. My recently purchased SOCOM Confrontation - which I'm actually putting on hold until Trophies are release and the patch for "the rest of the game" is finally released. But never mind all of that, I've been playing Bioshock as it creeps me out, scares the crap out of me, and is completely awesome in just about every way. I also received Incredible Hulk in the mail today, so I'm going to watch that while everything is downloading. I'm going to go start my movie while you check out the links.

IGN PS3
PlayStation.Blog

Add-on
If I ever get Game Night reinstated I'm going to have to get BUZZ!, as it's a great chance to see drinking friends really get silly. And when I do there will be tons of additional content that's been released I can pick up. This week to coincide with All Hallow's Eve being just around the corner and all other horror type games releasing, BUZZ! gives us the Horror Pack for a nice little $5.99.

High Velocity Bowling is supposed to be a lot of fun, but I'll have to admit it doesn't really interest me. Either way, it seems to have quite a nice following and now comes with fresh new toys to light up the lanes this week.

All Hallow’s Eve Ball Pack - $0.99

Foxy - $0.99

Chastity - $0.99

Just as we all expected DLC for SOULCALIBUR IV would become available to introduce the exclusive characters into the game for owners of the rival consoles. So Darth Vader would become available to the Xbox 360 and Yoda would become available for the PS3. Despite the fact that the Yoda character has been considered broken since the Jedi Master is simply too short to be hit in most attacks and cannot be grabbed. Perhaps this could be a perk to being the most powerful Jedi most anybody has ever known of, but for some it's busted game play. Either way, for an extra $4.99 Yoda can be yours! May the Force be with you!

To quote a friend of mine, "Capcom and Mega Man can rot in hell!" This game's hard, but it takes you back to a time when the 2D platformer ruled all with an awesome range of games. Fortunately developers are recognizing that us old skool gamers want to play those games again and give the new kids a chance to truly enjoy them. Either way, if Mega Man 9 wasn't hard enough, here's more stuff to make it even more.... "enjoyable." Go spend another $2.97 and continue to fight the urge to throw your DUALSHOCK 3 or SIXAXIS controller into the next country, or state, or country.

Mega Man 9 Superhero Mode - $0.99

Mega Man 9 Special Stage - $0.99

Mega Man 9 Hero Mode - $0.99

Sid Meier's has done a great job about releasing new content for his latest slice of awesome. One piece of pie for $1.25 and a piece of pie for free! So no matter where you are in your budge you get a piece of pie. Who doesn't like pie?!

Sid Meier’s Civilization Revolution Scenario Pack: Survival - $1.25

Sid Meier’s Civilization Revolution Single Player Map Pack 2: Surreal - free

Guitar Hero World Tour starts out early with new songs so not to be completely eclipsed by how much awesome Rock Band sells each Thursday. 3 new pay songs and then what appears to be 3 free songs as well. No sense in arguing with free!

Rock Band Thursday jams out with the Crüe (Again!) and Nirvana. Separate songs will run you $1.99 each, but there's an all inclusive Nirvana pack including 7 songs for $10.99. Won't you bring a little music to your Thursday? And most likely to your neighbors as well if you're a Rock Band drummer. I'll pray for your neighbors!

Demos
Valkyria Chronicles Demo

LEGO Batman: The Videogame Demo follows the steps of the extremely popular LEGO STAR WARS The Complete Saga and the almost as popular LEGO Indiana Jones the Videogame. I've heard mix reactions to this game saying that with out LucasArts being involved the game suffers but I've also heard this game is tons of fun and just about as much replay value. My sister and I are big fans of the STAR WARS game and played the hell out of that for quite a while and was excited about hearing about the Indy and Batman scheduled releases. I've yet to pick up the later of the 3 releases but now this demo helps me make my decision. The demo itself allows you to play as Batman and Robin or the Joker and Harley. I played through the entire Hero part of the story and kicked some LEGO butt with Batman finally seeing that the game can rock with out Light Sabers. The Indy demo wasn't nearly as good as the STAR WARS game so I didn't even consider that game. This demo however seems to have piqued my interests and I'm thinking I will pick this up once this holiday season's barrage of games calms down. Try the demo, it's fun for all ages.

Games
Lots of gamers follow Penny Arcade religiously, and many a PS3 owner was bummed that the game baring their name wasn't released on PSN. Well, a week before Episode Two is released for PC and XBL, PS3 owners will pick up the first game. Penny Arcade Adventures: On the Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness, Episode One for a slightly discounted price of $14.99. I haven't decided if I will check it out yet, but I am interested. Great mix of humor and game play, and episodic games like this could really bring the "bang for your buck." I have no clue when the second episode will become available to the PSN, but that's partly due to lack of looking. I'm sure a quick search would tell me but I'm lazy and want to go play Bioshock some more and watch Hulk!

As soon as I saw the news that the original Prince of Persia game, circa 1989, was going to get slapped around with a graphical update and released I got extremely excited. I think I was maybe 13 or 14 when I bought an old DOS4 computer from one of my Mom's co-workers for $20. The machine had over 200 old DOS games like Tetris, Prince of Persia, Jordan Vs. Bird, a few MUDs, and I believe the very first Microsoft Flight Simulation game. I used to play that thing for hours on end, and the games I played the most were Tetris and Prince of Persia. I played the game so much at least 15 years since the last time I played it and I still remembered where to go in the first 3 stages, even with out the added butterfly that tells you where to go. Remembered where the floor would give out, or where another guard would be. After playing for 30 minutes, anybody who ever loved the original Prince of Persia must go put $10 on their Wallet and buy this game! Prince of Persia Classic nostalgic gold!

Videos

Games
PAIN: The Hoff Trailer
PAIN: Movie Studio Trailer
SOCOM: U.S. Navy SEALs Confrontation Behind the SEALs - Part 1
Dead Space Animated Comic Issue #6
Disney Sing It Trailer
Guitar Hero World Tour MC5 Vignette
Guitar Hero World Tour Motorhead Vignette
Legendary Behind the Scenes Episode 5
NHL 09 David Littman Producer Video
NHL 09 Be A Pro Video
Tom Clancy’s EndWar Theater of War Video Briefing

Themes
WipEout HD All Teams #3 Theme is absolutely free and is pretty slick. It appears to have a range of vehicles taken from the teams in the game in their multi-color glory. The background itself seems a little odd but still looks pretty sweet. Again nothing in the way of sounds which I wish there was, but what can ya do these days. Perhaps they're going to be pushing the sound enabled themes under the Premium Themes section.

Lots of Mega Man 9 content this week and we also pick up 5 different Premium Themes for $1.99 each. Not something I'm going to drop money on, but perhaps this will be worth it for those who haven't thrown a controller through their TV because of Mega Man 9.

Well I watched "HULK SMASH" played some LEGO Batman The Videogame, had the crap scared out of me in Bioshock, and loved Prince of Persia Classic and now I'm beat. Heading to bed, hoping none of the random bangs and clangs that scared the hell out of me while I was playing Bioshock don't wake me up in the middle of the night!

tdhhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11625895532646917551noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-37687258.post-39010505039217849392008-10-16T22:46:00.004-04:002008-10-16T23:56:21.993-04:00DLC - October 16thLot of gaming I want to do tonight so this is going to be kind of quick. Sorry for the lack of attention but I have a box full of SOCOM: U.S. Navy SEALs Confrontation goodness sitting on the next next to me, and then Resistance 2 public beta begins tonight as well. Let's do it!

IGN PS3
PlayStation.Blog

Add-Ons
Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 09 drops with anouther golf course to try your clubs at this week. So far this game's been doing quite well with new DLC, but I'm not sure I'd personally pay $7.49 for each course. As I recall they're much cheaper for Hot Shots Golf. Hot Shots Golf is more the game for me, but for those die hard Tiger Woods fans out there, go snatch up Spyglass Hill Golf Course for the aforementioned $7.49.

I went to pick up my PlayStation Eye this past weekend and basically lucked out. Instead of paying $69.99 for the THE EYE OF JUDGEMENT/PlayStation Eye bundle, or $39.99 for the PlayStation Eye by itself, I paid $17.48 for the THE EYE OF JUDGEMENT bundle at Target. I had a triple take, asked my sister to verify the price (Which I got wrong as I originally thought it said $17.99!), and then asked a sale attendant was the price legit. Turns out they're "trying to get rid of the game." So if you were interested in this game, or want a PlayStation Eye for when LittleBigPlanet releases next week check out your local Target.

Now for those that already have and play THE EYE OF JUDGEMENT then we have a new expansion as well as a bundle to allow others to catch up cheaply. THE EYE OF JUDGEMENT: Biolith Rebellion 3, which as the name implies is the third expansion set, and will run you $14.99. Now if you haven't picked up the 2nd expansion set it is now available in a bundle lumped in with the 3rd set for only $19.99. I haven't opened my game, but I think I will try it out just for the heck of it. Not really something I'm interested in, but I'll give it a try.

Demos
Thanks to the newly released PSP PlayStation Store I was able to download LEGO BATMAN: THE VIDEOGAME DEMO direction to my PSP nice and easily via my crappy wireless router. Router aside the new PSP Store is quite clean and crisp and even on my crappy wireless set up it runs very fast. I haven't touched it so I can wrap this up quick, and go get started on SOCOM & R2, but I'm going to charge my PSP tonight and take it in to work to play on lunch tomorrow.

As a Qore member I've already played the MotorStorm Pacific Rift Demo, and it's a huge step up from the original game. For those of you with out the Qore goodies go check out how the new game is shaping up.

Games
As I mentioned I have my SOCOM: U.S. Navy SEALs Confrontation box sitting next to me with the game and the new *OFFICIAL* PlayStation Bluetooth headset, but for those of you who already have a Bluetooth headset they use and like, you can now download the entire game directly from the PlayStation Store. Game with headset is $59.99, Blu-Ray disc with out headset is $39.99, and if you download it from store it's also $39.99. For me it was a no brainer to get a game worth $40, and a headset that's worth $50 for a combined $60. I'm going to love that mute button especially in Burnout since it runs with the mic on.

Dead Head Fred, which is a game I've never heard of, tells me it's a M rated game that "puts the gamers into a classic tale of murder, corruption, revenge and... interchangeable heads." I dunno about you, but that sounds awesome. I'm not sure if this was a UMD game that's now getting digital love, or an all new game. Either $14.99 for a title with an interesting concept isn't half bad. I've spent $15 in worse places.

PQ2: Practical Intelligence Quotient 2 I know was a UMD game release back in 2007, and it's all kinds of puzzle goodness just like the first one was. As I mentioned previously the demo I played for PQ1 was entirely in Japanese and I still have it on my PSP today and play at random. Having said that, perhaps I should actually buy the game and enjoy the full goodness. Perhaps in another 2 years once game stop rolling in all at once and eating up my expendable income.

Videos
Another week with out any movie trailers, which I find odd as there are tons of new Blu-Ray movies coming out this month. Latest Indy movie dropped this week, Incredible Hulk drops next week, I believe American Gangster released last week, and of course Iron Man released not too long ago. Either plenty of things to download and not watch yet like I've done with the past two weeks worth of videos.

Games
LittleBigPlanet: Making Fun
MotorStorm Pacific Rift Vehicles Trailer
SOCOM: U.S. Navy SEALs Confrontation Launch Trailer
wipEout HD Behind the Scenes
Eternal Sonata Trailer
Far Cry 2 Who’s Who Trailer
Guitar Hero World Tour Billy Corgan Vignette
NARUTO: Ultimate Ninja Storm September Trailer
Themes
Two free themes this week and one Premium Theme. I'm not a horror movie fan, but I did enjoy the first two Saw movies. Either way I'm not going spend $1.99 on a SAW them.

Valkyria Chronicles PSN Theme 01
Silent Hill Homecoming Theme
Eternal Sonata Theme
SAW Legacy Premium Theme - $1.99

6 basic Eternal Sonata Wallpapers that are really simple, but may be nice to mix in with your favorite theme, or the newly released Eternal Sonata theme.

4 creppy Silent Hill Homecoming Wallpapers that I have already deleted. Did I mention I don't really do horror?

As I mentioned tonight was going to be short and sweet, and then I'm off to melt into my couch as I basically give up sleeping. I wonder how much trouble I'd run into if I just slept through work tomorrow? Off to shoot something, whether it's a Chimera in R2 or somebody in SOCOM.

tdhhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11625895532646917551noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-37687258.post-61268764000777069552008-10-09T23:14:00.005-04:002008-10-09T23:48:52.303-04:00DLC - October 9thLots of add-on content drops today, and I'll be honest I'm not going to touch any of it. I have access to the LBP beta now and it ends on Sunday I believe. So I'm going to play that until my fingers bleed. Either way there's tons of stuff to download today which seems a little because Sony's TGS presentation seemed a little paltry by most people's standards. Either way let's get started!

IGN PS3
PlayStation.Blog

Add-Ons
Qore Episode 5 lands this week, a week late in most of our minds, but it's here at least and comes with it's usual host of goodies. Lots of survival horror goodness and to light things up - quite literally - let's throw in Shaun White's new snowboarding game in for good measure. I don't care what anybody says, I've gotten good use out of my Qore subscription.

Hot Shots Golf Fall Fashion Line brings in 5 new costumes that after all the variations provides 30 new outfits. So each time you hit the links you can look your best or just look different. For $3.99 it's not priced too bad, but honestly the outfits in the game are pretty good as they are and you can unlock all kinds of stuff. I'll wait for all new characters (I want Sackboy for Hot Shots Golf!) and new golf courses personally.

For the first that I'm aware of, DLC is being made available BEFORE the game is released. Dead Space doesn't release until next week and we already have suits to download for free or for monies! Dead Space Obsidian Suit is free - but for a limited time only so don't sleep on this - and Dead Space Scorpion Suit will run you $2.49. No clue if this is an accident, but it's there. I would suggest downloading the free pack ahead of time as its supposed to be a limited time deal.

FIFA 09 adds a lot of stuff this week and seems almost excessive. There's a total of 6 league packs at $6.99, or you can get quite a deal by buying them all in one bundle for $19.99. If you bought them all seperately you're looking at $42! The question has to be asked though, why wasn't this included by default. Looking at the 100Kb file size it appears that it was and they want to charge extra to unlock things. I can understand that to a point, but I think this gets carried away.

All Leagues Pack

Barclays Premier League English Pack

Bundesliga German Pack

Liga BBVA Spanish Pack

Ligue 1 French Pack

Primera Division De Mexico Pack

Serie A Italian Pack

As expected we get some Mega Man 9 DLC to make us all want to throw our controllers into the next county even more. As previously mentioned around the IntarWebz, Protoman is now available for an extra $1.99 and is considered by some to be "easy mode." I have a few friends who are playing this and tell me that the game is completely unbeatable at some stages. I didn't buy it because, meanwhile I loved the 8-bit love, it's not wide screen. Playing 8-bit goodness, at standard definition resolution makes my TV a very sad panda. With a 47" TV there's almost a full TV's worth of space around the game that's unused. I stopped the demo and went and played hours of Burnout!

As well as Protoman Mode, we pick up Endless Attack mode for another $2.99. So take one long level, get as far as you can, and rack up as many points as you can.

As is customary on Thursday, Rock Band has new songs to rock out to. Today we pick up some Offspring tracks and then some other single tracks from various artists. The Offspring pack will run you $5.49, and the various guys will run you a $1.99 each. Enjoy!

Japan or Europe received Civilization Revolution DLC back in August I believe, and now North America finally gets some love. Brave New Worlds pack is free and includes 4 new maps. The Victory Pack will run you $1.25 and comes with new victory conditions. $1.25 for what sounds like quite a bit of new fun is pretty damn good!

For those who aren't addicted to Super Stardust HD like I am, now is the time to pick up everything. For $14.99 you now can have the whole SSHD bundle, including the original game and two expansions. For those of you who haven't picked up the expansions for $7.99 you can now get your hands on both the Solo and Team expansions. The Solo pack is a must have, but the Team one I could have done with out. I recommend getting at least the the Solo pack!

Demos
I'm not a big fan of the game changes that happened after the introduction of the jetpack, but outside of that Warhawk should be on just about every PS3 owner's games list. Now those of you who haven't jumped on the now $29.99 title, here's a demo that should whet your appetite. This is a newbie friendly demo that has it's own demos that should be 90% full of people who don't own the game. There's nothing to prevent me from downloading, installing, and playing the demo but as a vet player why would I? So jump in, and find out what this game is about. You like aerial dog fights? Check! You want to run around stabbing people with a dagger? Check! Wanna run around throwing grenades at anything that moves? Check! Wanna take a plane down with a rocket launcher? Check! This game has just about everything you need, and running extremely smooth at 720p and supporting TRUE XMB music this game should wow any shooter fan. Get it, then buy it!

Supersonic Acrobatic Rocket Powered Battle Cars absolutely wins the award for the longest game title ever, but it also supports online play and Trophies so that alone will attract some people. From what I can tell from videos it's Sci-fi + Soccer + cars. I'll check it out next week once my LBP beta is no longer available and I've finished pouting and crying... Just in time for SOCOM to release next week.

Games
Linger in Shadows isn't an actual game, but it does have Trophy support, doesn't take up much space and is cheap. Weighing in at 100Mb and $2.99 Linger In Shadows is in fact a demoscene instead of a game. Basically it's art you can interact with. It's weird, looks amazing, and completely comes out of nowhere. I keep thinking of all the other things I've wasted $3 on this week, and then I try and figure out why I shouldn't get this. I know I've given out at least $3 in change this week to co-workers and I keep thinking "will I replay this thing?" I'm going to pass for now, but I think I will return to this after October and November calms down. I'm still more than slightly intrigued by this one.

Supersonic Acrobatic Rocket Powered Battle Cars, as I mentioned earlier is a mix of soccer and cars that uses the Unreal Engine. It's supposed to be non-stop online, Trophy fueled PSN goodness, but it weighs in at $14.99. At first that seems a little much, but I haven't played the demo yet. Maybe once I get through the demo maybe I'll decide if I'm going to pick this one up.

Puzzle Quest: Challenge of the Warlords has been characterized as digital crack by a number of my friends. Now it's available for download on the PS3. I think I'll pick this up eventually as I love puzzlers and anything in 47" HD is awesome and make me smile. For $14.99 it includes the original game as well as Wrath of the Plague Lord expansion pack.

Videos

Games
LittleBigPlanet Life in LBP Ep. 2 (Play)
LittleBigPlanet Playtime
MotorStorm Pacific Rift Crashes & Carnage Trailer
NBA 09 Trailers (x4)
SOCOM: Confrontation - Desert Glory Flythrough
Bioshock Official Trailer
Legendary: The Box Behind the Scenes 3 & 4 (x2)
Mercenaries 2 World In Flames Payback Trailer
Soul Calibur IV Character Gameplay Combos Trailer
Tom Clancy’s End War Command Points Video Briefing
Tom Clancy’s End War Mass Destruction Trailer
Themes
For some reason they've now decided to start charging for some themes. They're calling them Premium Themes and will run anywhere from $.99 to $1.99. For me I'll have to pass on these unless there's something that just really screams out to me. Otherwise a majority of the previous free themes have been pretty "meh" at best, and there are resources like PS3-Themes.com that have just as much crap but also have the same amount of good themes for absolutely free. Either way here's the list, and I'll be passing for now.

Bioshock Exclusive Theme - $0.99
Auburn University - $1.99
Florida State University - $1.99
University of Georgia - $1.99
University of Miami - $1.99
University of Michigan - $1.99
University of North Carolina - $1.99
University of Tennessee - $1.99
University of Texas - $1.99
Beach Sampler - $1.99
Summer Down Under - $1.99
Digital Techno - $1.49
High Voltage - $1.49
Horror Eyes - $1.49
Refracted Revolt - $1.49
Bad Girls - $1.49
Halloween Vixens - $1.49
Golden Retriever - $1.49
Man’s Best Friend - $1.49
Nordic Majesty - $1.49
Seaside Sunsets - $1.49
Elven-X - $0.99
Iron Guard - $0.99

After you check those out, see if your favorite college team is in the mix this week, and if not here's what we get for free.

WipEout HD All Teams #2 Theme is dope. Flat out, this is sweet. Two backgrounds, both of them are a good mix of light and dark so it's not too bright or too dark. Has a very distinct racing feel to both backgrounds as it looks like they have sponser logos in different places. All the icons have a different ship next to them but they all fit. Only thing this may be missing is sound. I wish a lot more themes would use some decent sounds with their themes.

Fallout 3 Brotherhood of Steel Theme uses the normal icons we've noticed from all the Fallout 3 videos with a background that looks a lot like something we'd see in Killzone 2. No sounds, nothing special, and the icons appear to be taken directly from the game itself.

Fallout PIP-BOY 3000 Theme reminds me of the old retro theme that was available back in the spring I want to say. Honestly this theme could have been combined with the other Fallout 3 theme this week. The only thing different is the background and honest we could have done with out that one. I'm going back to the WipEout HD #2 Theme.

Toss in a few wallpapers to mix~n~match with other themes and we conclude this week's fun.

2 Linger In Shadows Wallpapers
4 ATV Pure Wallpapers
2 Valkyria Chronicles Wallpapers

TGS is this week, so there's tons of news going down. Not much in the way of big NEW news for PlayStation but enough to keep you reading. PSP to PS3 connections, Resistance news, cross-over characters to be included in LBP, more news on White Knight and Quantum Theory. Go further and dig up PlayStation goodness, I'm off to play LittleBigPlanet!

tdhhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11625895532646917551noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-37687258.post-12941455634330598912008-10-03T02:09:00.003-04:002008-10-03T03:17:58.443-04:00DLC - October 2ndIt's been a long day, but that doesn't negate the distinct Thursday~ness today holds. I think it's a great nod to Oklahoma to give them their own NBA team since they've proven that they are an NBA city. But naming the team Thunder.... A name often synonymous to storms - like the one that sent Hornets to Oklahoma in the first place - is kind of messed up. Either way you don't want the team left out of your upcoming NBA basketball games so pick up the new team and give them a spin! NBA Live 09 Oklahoma City Pack is available for free and ready to make some noise. Get it? Thunder makes some... oh forget it.

I was never a big Live fan, and for some reason basketball games didn't seem to translate so well for me. Either way I know a lot of people how all Live all the time. Well this week have NBA Live 365 available for $20, and I'm not entirely sure what the hell it does. My understanding is that it downloads daily stats from around the NBA and some how ties it into the game. I don't know if this is a glorified means in which to keep the rosters synced to best of the game's ability, or does it just give you a way to play the Rockets during last season's 22 game winning streak. If you're a life fiend and buy this, email me so I know what the hell it is! Thank you!

Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 09 Firestone Country Club brings with it a new course that has tested many a PGA golfer for years currently is the host of the World Golf Championships. If you're a golf fan as well as a Tiger Woods PGA Tour fan this $7.49 will likely be a must have. I've already talked to a friend of mine who has told me for at least the 40 billionth time to buy this game and now download this course. I'll stick with Hot Shots Golf, thank you very much!

This time around Soul Calibur has really gone the extra mile with customization and weapons. Today we pick up two weapon packs, each $3.99, and each adding their own thing. Now before you buy these keep in mind all of these weapons can be unlocked from playing the game through but where's the fun in that, huh? So for the impatient few, or like me just aren't always that good at fighting games, drop the $7.98 for both packs and have at it!

Soulcalibur IV Weapon Set Bonus Weapons

Soulcalibur IV Weapon Set Main Weapons

Rock Band Thursday, and today doesn't disappoint as usual. It's all about the Chili Peppers! If I had any music talents and bought Rock Band I would buy the entire Blood Sugar Sex Magik album that's available for $19.99. Each of the songs are available for $1.99 each, but personally I'd have to have all of them. I may have to convince a friend of mine to get these so I can try them out. Hmmm....

Demos
It's been a long day and I've spent all day working on various projects so I'm not going to be playing any of these demos probably until Sunday. That being said I am excited about the Bioshock demo, and it'll be nice to check out Eternal Sonata. No metalic iron icons, or different Iron Man suits. Just a background with quickly thrown together icons. A nice Iron Man sound would have been nice as well, but are left out along with an actual theme.

NBA 09 PSP Theme 1

tdhhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11625895532646917551noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-37687258.post-58576347677600237862008-09-25T22:58:00.004-04:002008-09-26T00:29:52.538-04:00DLC - September 25thIt's Friday Eve fools! QuizTV released this week, and already has some additional Question Packs available for download this week. Instead of people being excited that they have new content for the game incase they've already "played through" everything that comes with the disc people seem to feel ripped off that this content wasn't released with the game. Nevermind game development seems to be a foriegn concept for most gamers, but that's a topic for another post. Here are the three newly available Question Packs for BUZZ! QuizTV.

BUZZ! Capcom has listened to the masses as we've begged for old skool remakes of our young gaming days. Ones that made us laugh, ones that made us cry, and ones that made us violent. Bionic Commando: Rearmed was a brilliant idea and now doing a NEW Mega Man title in the same light as the originals means at least somebody's listening. Mega Man 9 is 2D, 8-bit style through and through. Great old skool music. Hard as hell Mega Man game play, and the only gripe I have is that it runs at "SD" resolution. It's actually 1080p, but the actual game only gives you standard definition square to play the game. It makes my 47" HD TV emo to play it, but everything else is absolutely Mega Man! If you played games at all in the 80s and early 90s then you had to have played Mega Man. Relive those glorious days by frustrating yourself to the point of violence with today's release.

WipEout HD has been on the list of "WTF are you waiting for and gimme already" for a lot of PlayStation faithful. There have been PSP releases that have come with mixed reception. The PSone Classic was released for PSN, and with today's release we officially have 4 different WipEout games available for download. For $19.99 there are Trophies, online play, leader boards, 1080p graphics, all delivered a 60 fps! I'm not going to get it just yet, but I anticipate after my wallet and fingers stop bleeding sometime around the first of the year because of all the games releasing in the next 4 months I'll have the time and money. (SOCOM, LBP, Bioshock, Fallout 3, Resistance 2, Call of Duty: WoW, this list never ends!)

As promised, the game that has embraced and possibly redesigned how downloadable content is handled, Burnout Paradise the full game now available at the PlayStation Store! Upon download and install of the game it will update to the latest version including all three **FREE** updates and Trophies which went live today. (64 Trophies!!!) A friend basically pestered me into buying this game back in February so we'd have something to play online and he wouldn't STFU about this game. I finally jumped and got the game spending the "new game smell" price of $60. After playing for a few hours and ripping up some online play I knew this game was worth all 6,359 pennies! (Curse you Uncle Sam and your taxes!) Today the game sells for only half that many pennies and is worth 4 or 5 times more. If you like driving games, online play, games with tons to do, then this $30 is going to entertain you for a long time to come. Get this game, love it, and thank me later.

GEON Emotions as it turns out is a year old XBL game. Personally I couldn't find anybody I knew who has a 360 who's played it. I only find one video online and it didn't make a lot of sense to me at the time. Either way it has Trophies and these days that's all it takes! It's a multiplayer puzzle game from what I can gather, but there's no demo so until I hear from somebody saying this thing is digital pwn, I'll sit back and wonder what the hell a GEON is.

Untold Legends Brotherhood of the Blade is another PSP UMD game being released for download from the PlayStation Store PC. As of late the PC Store hasn't been all that lively, but now it appears things are going to start ramping up. New PSP releasing soon, and it only makes sense to have more content available for download at affordable prices.

To some people Puzzle Quest: Challenge of the Warlords is crack. It's the reason they have a PSP, it's the reason their PSP never leaves their side. I've come very close on several occasions to picking up this UMD and haven't. IF there wasn't so much to play with released tonight I probably would have picked it up. My PSP has been very neglected as of late and nice puzzler would definitely get me back in the spirit of portable gaming. If you need your puzzler fix, then this may be a worthwhile $14.99 for you.

Videos

Games
PAIN Amusement Park-New Characters Video
Resistance 2 Shattered History Trailer
Brothers in Arms: Hell’ Highway Eyes Only Network Trailer
Burnout Paradise Bikes Network Trailer
Dead Space Animated Comic Issue #5 Network Trailer
Tomb Raider: Underworld Gameplay Network Trailer

Movies
88 Minutes Blu-ray Trailer
Made of Honor Blu-ray Trailer

Themes
Buzz! Quiz TV has some festive main icons you might find from a flashy game show, but all other icons are stock default icons. The background isn't as crisp as it really should be, especially for HD displays. I've never played this game, and if I could get my friends together for game night again then maybe I'd invest. But it seems like they could have done more with this theme.

Wipeout HD Theme - All Teams #1 is an interesting mix of theme combined with background. This is something the Mirror's Edge theme did as well. With out this wallpaper or one designed specifically for the theme the theme falls flat. The main icons all follow the blueprint like feel of the background, but the rest of the icons appear to be stock. The wallpaper is way too bright for my liking, so I really hope they release other wallpapers - or themes as the name does imply there will be more - that have darker colors not to blind us vampires!

One thing I'd like to see Themes do is adjust the text color and/or font so they're more visable on some of these themes. Default font color is nigh impossible to even see on this and the Mirror's Edge backgrounds.

Wallpapers

Both of today's Soul Calibur wallpapers look like they're a month early. They appear to have been designed with Halloween in mind just released in September. If only there were an official Soul Calibur theme to place these.

#5 Tira Witch

#6 Voldo Jack-O-Lantern

Well it's time to take to the streets of Paradise City so I can start racking up more Trophies as well as re-doing all of the things I had to delete to start acquiring Trophies. For those who are doing this, I recommend backing up your current game save. You can of course start over to get Trophies and once you've gotten to a certain point copy your old game save back in. Y'know, for some of those more hard to obtain awards that were built into the original game.

tdhhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11625895532646917551noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-37687258.post-51694403111786571002008-09-18T23:56:00.003-04:002008-09-19T00:24:11.571-04:00DLC - September 18thIt's Thursday and PS Store time. Every now and again the PS Store offers something that's been up at the Store for a while at a discount. Giving those who really pinch their gaming penny a chance at some of the Add-Ons or games they may not have otherwise picked up. (That is after all how a few friends and I happened to fall in love with PAIN.) This week it's Call of Duty 4 add-on that's the pick of the litter.

Add-Ons
Thursday means Rock Band. Totalling in a combined 253Mb of Rock Band~ness.

Demos
Now I know I haven't really been playing demos and posting my thoughts on them lately, but honestly there are just so many other games I'd rather be playing. Well tonight's no different. I just finished downloading the Bike pack for Burnout Paradise and I'm going to go nuts on one of these crotch rockets. Plenty of stuff available today, some game updates, and ton to download so let's get it started. One thing you will notice is that there's no news on the European store update. Reason being seems to be technical difficulties preventing it from being posted. I don't even think they posted something over at ThreeSpeech, probably for fear the usual whining may actually set the European IntarWebz on fire.

IGN PS3
PlayStation.Blog

Add-Ons
PAIN Amusement Park and update release today. The update includes Trophies and some bug fixes while the Amusement Park update adds new game play modes and helps introduce two new characters. Combined price for amusement and characters will run you just under $8. The Trophy whore inside of me makes me excited about that, but the new game play should add more hilarity. It's rare that a game's just as much to WATCH somebody play as it is to play it.

Three new playable cannnon fodder for PAIN become available with today's update and expansion release Here's the break down.

Yeony is a school girl gamer who loves the FPS. She's ridiculously busty as all the women in the game are, and flies around with a PS3 controller in hand... until it's blown from here near lifeless hand.

Tati is basically a stereotypical exotic dancer on her day off. But she's spiced to perfection with enough attitude to choke Rosie Perez all while being the same character Ginger.

Kenneth appears to be added to possibly offend somebody other than feminist groups. I'm sure you've heard comparison of "like a fat kid loves cake?" Well Kenneth appears to be that fat kid. If you were to combine all female characters from the game they still would weight less than Kenneth's mid-day snack.

I picked up all three but I've only really played with Yeony, and she isn't far off from Jarvis. A little skinnier but the same wing span and funnier comments. "I think I was just headshot!"

Rock Band keeps up with it's usual 3 to 4 songs a week pace with another 3 songs and a combo pack with all three. As usual they can be accessed from the Rock Band store in-game as well as the PlayStation Store.

For some reason we have Guitar Hero add-on content for tomorrow and not today. I guess it's too good to be available with all the other lovely stuff we have for today. Either way if you're a big Metallica fan you can download the entire Death Magnetic album for play in Guitar Hero III for $17.99. Which I guess isn't entirely bad. A full album for about the price of the actual CD. Of course since it's Metallica don't bother asking if you'll be able to then access the same songs as MP3s. So sometime on Friday September 12 you'll be able to get your hands on this whole album.

Demos
MotorStorm: Pacific Rift for Qore subscribers.
FIFA 09 Demo
Guitar Hero: Aerosmith Demo

Games
Some TV Shows don't translate well to games, and others are near perfect. Today we receive one of those games that would be perfect if implimented properly. JEOPARDY! shows up for $14.99 and in my mind immediately falls short. There are 2,500 clues in the game, but that doesn't mean much if they're multiple choice. There's been comment about later updates allowing voice recognition so questions can be verbalized instead of a 25% chance at a guess. Either way the game does have online play and is supposed to be updated with Trophies in the future. At the same time they also announced that they're working on a Wheel of Fortune game for the PSN which should translate quite well. Since (Suck it) Trebek is sadly missing from JEOPARDY! I wonder if they'll digitize Vana White!

Field Commander ($14.99)

Videos
No movie trailers this week, but I was finally able to watch The Fall. Last Thursday a trailer was released for it and it piqued my interests so I added it to my NetFlix list. The last 15 minutes of the movie didn't live up to the rest of it, but it was absolutely a beautiful movie and worth checking out. Reminds me of Jet Lee's Hero with the visual feel of the movie. The little girl who played the female lead was amazing, and she couldn't have been more than 7 years old.

Games
BiA: Hell’s Highway Brutality of War Gameplay Video
Blitz: The League II - Trailer 2
FIFA 09 Trailer
Golden Axe: Beast Rider Trailer 2
Legendary Behind the Scenes Episode 2
NFS Undercover Launch Trailer
NHL 09 Teaser Trailer
NHL 09 Defensive Sizzle Trailer
Saints Row 2 – Uncle Gary Sticky Bombs Trailer
Saints Row 2 – Uncle Gary Throwing People Trailer
Star Wars: The Force Unleashed Producer walkthru
Themes
Lots of themes to play with today! I can't remember the last time there were this any.

Mirror’s Edge #1 Theme has a very bright background but very simple use of icons help it stand out. Sadly the background is too bright and drowns out things like your friends list or list of games, but the background has a red strip through it that kind of makes the theme. The red stripe makes sure you know what exactly you have selected. There appears to be only 1 background for this theme, and all video I've seen for the game has a very light and washed out feel to it. Works great for the game as nothing symbolizes freedom of movement like the roof tops of a city in the noon day sun, but this is blinding.

NFS Undercover Theme sports the same simple icons as the Mirror's Edge theme, except this time showing off in black and a gun metal color. Background showcases the city of choice for the game and the deliciously beautiful Maggy Q shown in the upper left hand corner. None of the expected engine noises or tires squealing for any of the sounds. This could have done with just a wallpaper.

PAIN Amusement Park Theme shows off a big postcard like vista of an over the top amusement park. Most of the sounds used are theme park inspired like a clowns horn or somebody vomiting in the bushes. Other sounds sound like rides leaving the gate, or the splash from a water slide. But just like with the new leading lady's themes the sound seems off on some of the effects. In the end it just feels cluttered. There's just too much going on in the background that it's hard to read the names of the video files I downloaded today. I'll have keep using the themes I downloaded from PS3 Themes with my customer wallpapers.

PAIN: Kenneth Character Theme shows Kenneth standing in the background in all his food loving girth. As one might expect from a man of Kenneth's size, his theme is food based. All the icons have some beef related food item behind them to accentuate their natural beauty with all the glory that is a beef. After all, it is what's for dinner. From the looks of Kenneth and the sounds used in the theme, he's not the sharpest crayon in the box, but he does appear to be eager... to do something. It's a simple but functional theme and could very well be worth all the little chuckles we got from Santa's theme.

PAIN: Tati Character Theme comes with the type of background all previous PAIN characters have come with, though to be honest with you I'm not even sure why they bothered putting shorts on this character. Very little left to imagine, so why waste the time? All the icons are glitzed and glam'd up, for the high maintenance type of girl Tati appears to be. The volume for the theme's sound appears to be off a little. If you enter a folder you hear "j00 like?" but it's so quite I had to seriously jack up the volume to even hear what she said. I then exited the menu with the volume on 55 and almost soiled myself as she lets fly a sexual charged scream. Some of the other songs are disco themed, like the type of music she may select while dancing around a pole in a nice gentleman's establishment.

PAIN: Yeony Character Theme is a little bright and girly and the sounds are all from old arcade game menus. Randomly she'll scream out "GAMER GIRL" for good measure, but nothing else really. I'm not a fan of the background myself but this may appeal to some of our female gamers. Of course that's provided they can get past the blatant stereotypes shown in all PAIN women.

Wallpapers
3 new PAIN Amusement Park wallpapers that look to be showing off game play moments of the new expansion or just the random chaos that can be an amusement park gone wrong; much like this one is!

Well that wraps up uy laziness for this week, off to see if I can get some Trophies in PAIN! But either way it's Thursday and we have news. More Qore, more videos, next phase of Home beta SOCOM beta delayed 5 days, LittleBigPlanet beta "announced," and more LittleBigPlanet pre-order news. But let's get this started.

IGN PS3
PlayStation.Blog
ThreeSpeech - European Store Update

Add-Ons
Qore Episode 04: September drops as it does on the first Thursday of every month since it's inception, and today it brings with it the goodness. Plenty of content for LittleBigPlanet, Motorstorm Pacific Rift, the new awesome looking Prince of Persia, and last year's Game of the Year Bioshock. For exclusive Qore downloads this week we have a LBP theme, early access to the Motorstorm Pacific Rift demo which will be available next week. This episodes is great for me as it has something for a number of games that I'm pretty excited about.

Unfortunately I don't know anybody who owns HAZE, so I can't answer the question of "will this pack help fix some of the glaring problems with this game" about the HAZE Destruction Pack. Either way, if you bought HAZE and still have it check out the new pack. $9.99 seems steep by comparison, but what do you expect? The game couldn't have sold well.

Rock Band Thursdays rocks out the first week of September a range of songs from PAX08 performances. For the usual $.99 a song you can pick up each one seperately or get them all in one bundle for just $2.99. I actually heard the MC Frontalot song was kind sweet.

Demos
PURE Demo

Games
For those of you who bought the Madden 09 Collector's edition you already have NFL Head Coach 09, a new EA game that allows you to take the roll of the actual coach of an NFL team. Make the decisions you thought that same coach wouldn't/couldn't in last season. I know a few Lions fans who have taken the Lions for a perenial laugher to a power hours in one season. The game is also available for purchase as a disc based game at your usual gaming retailers. NFL Head Coach 09 will set you back $49.99 at the PlayStation Store as well as at the store.

Videos

Games
JEOPARDY! As you can imagine I jumped on quick and downloaded the theme. At the time they stated they would select people based on their "PSN usage" and utlimately I'm not sure anybody uses PSN as much as I do. (lol) I download everything, I've bought 10 plus PSN titles, and did I mention I download everything? Well on Tuesday I received my email invite to PlayStation Home.

So after entering a code I was presented a download option for the latest Home version and I was ready to start. Upon entering I had to go through a robust in theory avatar creation process, but personally I think some of the changes you could make didn't actually do anything. Either way after about 35 minutes I was set with one of many available representations of me inside of Home.

When you have your character ready you start in a hotel room, for lack of a better description. You have a balcony, there's a marina outside the window, and by accessing your in-game PSP you can start to decorate the room. When you first start you don't have much in the way of furnishings, but with a trip to the Mall you can "buy" new stuff. Currently everything appears to be free but still kind of limited in what's offered. You can also "buy" a whole new pad at the Mall and you can set up the new place which is the epitome of bachelor pad. Two floors, two fire places, a deck right out on the sea, just ripe for you to decorate with the new stuff you found at the Mall.

There's a gaming hall that has a bowling alley and several pool tables, with a mini arcade. Bowling took me a while to adjust to but it can actually be fun with a few friends. Pool tables aren't very robust but they're good enough to be pretty enjoyable. Played a few games last night that came down to the wire and seem to show of my actual (lack of) pool skills. One of the arcade games is EVAC that's a helicopter rescue game that's actually kind of fun. First night I spent like 45 minutes playing this game.

Home is progressing but some things aren't available yet it seems or aren't ironed out. Voice chat is pretty spotty at best. One night I was voice chatting away no problem, next night I couldn't talk or hear other conversations. Then later after re-entering I could hear conversations but still couldn't talk. MP3s from your HDD and videos stored on your PS3 are supposed to be playable inside your properties but currently there's no means of playing them. I think you need to have a stereo in order to play music and you can't "buy" one yet. Same goes for picture frames for images, and TVs for video. For a release of "this year" I hope there's a lot of stuff they just haven't released yet, because there's a lot of work required and "this year" is rapidly winding down. Perhaps the supposed firmware update for the new PlayStation Bluetooth headset will help resolve some of the voice chat issues.

Well time to go jump into Home and wander around for a while. Enjoy today's goodies, and for those who are wondering where PAIN is, you should have already heard it was delayed because of people complaining the announced Trophies were too hard. So "later this month" the PAIN update and Trophies should release!

tdhhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11625895532646917551noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-37687258.post-3823150228670571772008-08-28T22:31:00.004-04:002008-08-29T00:02:00.975-04:00DLC - August 28thIt's Thursday, and there's a lot to play, a lot to download, all while I'm trying to watch the Obama's acceptance speech like I know Ren's doing right now. I actually have to say I hope he's able to watch this with his family, but enough of the politics. It's game time! Hit the links foo'!

IGN PS3
PlayStation.Blog
ThreeSpeech - European Store Update

Add-Ons
It's Warhawk week as far as I'm concerned. Warhawk v1.50 released yesterday to add in new features, resolve a few issues, and the love of Trophies. I downloaded it yesterday and got right to work Trophy whoring because.... well I'm a Trophy Whore.

Warhawk Fallen Star Pack introduces jetpacks, and a new giant map that cuts up nicely into 30 separate map configurations. From where I'm standing this is pure win. As I look at Trophies named Vengeance where you kill the last person to kill you in less than 60 seconds. Or Hit List where you kill every member of the opposing team. Another one I really like is That Was Some Bug where you kill an enemy flying a jetpack with any vehicle or aircraft. They did a great job of thinking up these Trophies.

Now, for those of you who are Warhawk faithful, and haven't bought any of the expansions for Warhawk, now is the time. For a cool $16 you can get ALL THREE Warhawk expansions. Operation: Omega Dawn, Operation: Broken Mirror, and the newly released Operation: Fallen Star. Each expansion brought with it a new vehicle like drop ships, APC, and now jetpacks. The former two did a great job at changing game play for the better and I anticipate jetpacks to live up to that. So please, no matter your rank go get the Warhawk Booster Combo. You can thank me later.

Rock Band Thursdays rocks out to 4 new tracks at 99 pennies, and a bundle pack for $2.99. I still imagine some fledling musician filling up their PS3 HDD to it's bursting seems with new Rock Band downloadable songs.

Demos
Two demos today, neither of which I will play tonight. I'm not looking forward to the NHL 09 demo as last years made me angry nearly instantly. They tried to use the controls a little too much and it just frustrated me. Playing the NBA 2K9 demo was so much more enjoyable than last years EA showing. I'll play it eventually or rather make my sister play it. I am looking forward to the SCIV demo but with Warhawk and The Last Guy to play it's on the back burner..... on the back up stove.

NHL 09 Demo
SOULCALIBUR IV Demo

Games
The The Last Guy has everything born of a crappy downloadable game and manages to shine forth like a beacon of hope and amazing. Somebody described it as Zombies meets Google Maps, and it's perfect. My sister and I combined have probably played the demo that released last Thursday at least 75 times. Each time trying to beat our last high score as well as each other's. (Sad to say she's currently winning with just over 1100 people saved, beating me by roughly 100 people.) The music is horribly annoying and catchy and awesome. The simple idea of the game still manages to be challenging as you avoid zombies all while cursing at them to get the hell out of the way. This game has a lot of potential to grow and expand on top of it. Today's game releases with 15 maps, but there are a lot of cities in the world, so I seriously hope we see a new "map pack" for The Last Guy in a few months that adds another 5 to 10 cities. How awesome would it be to be The Last Guy in a city near you, or your very own city! The Last Guy Detroit! No comment.

Videos
Lots of videos tonight and no time to watch them, now that is. I'll download and watch all of them except that stupid Prom Night trailer. I still can't believe that received a green light.

Games
Brothers in Arms: Hell’s Highway Machine Gun & Bazooka Video
Brothers in Arms: Hell’s Highway Squad Gameplay Video
Facebreaker Audition Video #1
Facebreaker Audition Video #2
Facebreaker Audition Video #3
GT5 Prologue Play the Pros with Tanner Foust!
LittleBigPlanet Leipzig “Sackzilla” Trailer
Madden NFL 09 Gameplay Trailer
Madden NFL 09 Madden Moments Trailer
Madden NFL 09 Play Call Trailer
Motorstorm Pacific Rift Leipzig Trailer
PAIN Trauma Mode Trailer
SOCOM Confrontation Extraction trailer
Top Spin 3 Player Creator Trailer

Movies
Quantum Of Solace Trailer
Prom Night Trailer
Themes
No PS3 themes today, but if you're hurting for some themes head over to www.ps3-themes.com and check out the tons of themes they have. Please keep in mind some of the themes are more adult oriented so if you find yourself in trouble for viewing some of the themes you have been warned!

We did receive one PSP theme, but honestly. With a name like Cake Mania: Baker’s Challenge theme I'm pretty sure I can pass on it. On top of being lazy and going and finding where next to my bed my PSP went, I'm pretty sure I can personally live with out this one.

Wallpapers
2 The Last Guy Wallpapers, one of which makes an awesome background for a number of themes I downloaded from PS3-Themes.com.

3 PSP Wallpapers Series 1 wallpapers
2 Hot Shots Golf Open Tee 2 wallpapers
3 Cake Mania: Baker’s Challenge wallpapers

Well it's just now midnight and I have a lot of gaming to get done. My bad.)

tdhhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11625895532646917551noreply@blogger.com0
