A &lt;a href="http://www.webershandwick.com/resources/ws/flash/Twittervention_Study.pdf"&gt;study released today&lt;/a&gt; (PDF) by Weber Shandwick says the answer is not very well, and that the majority of Fortune 100 companies don’t really get Twitter. and get some insight beyond proof of concept.&amp;#160; &lt;strong&gt;It’s a Catch 22 as some companies can’t stay in business if product is delayed and have funding,&lt;/strong&gt; so the push is there without human concern, just get the dollars they say.&amp;#160; We all suffer over that one too, not that the technology is bad, but implementation is the key along with education.&amp;#160; The White House is very aware of this study, too bad Congress is not.&amp;#160;&amp;#160; &lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;&lt;a href="http://ducknetweb.blogspot.com/2009/11/white-house-speaks-about-wireless.html"&gt;White House Speaks About Wireless Technology – Healthcare And &lt;b&gt;...&lt;/b&gt;&lt;/a&gt;&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;Check out this video on a device that creates data trails and can even with Blue Tooth send if off to your insurance company as they demonstrate in the video, shakes a little of big brother here.&amp;#160; What happens when this hits the market?&amp;#160; Will anyone other than those who maybe check in here once in a while know what the heck it is and furthermore what it’s capabilities are?&amp;#160; Consumers need to know and not be snowballed, education and this requires more than just signing some disclosure form.&amp;#160; Many medications are moving to inhaled formats, stay tuned. &lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;Telehealth has many neat offerings and if used correctly with educated consumers it could be a win-win all the way around, but it’s a huge paradigm shift for most and that can’t be overlooked as people need an adjustment period for much of it, not to mention education once more. &lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;All the devices need to have “meaningful use” covered too and it seems nobody has touched that issue.&amp;#160; BD&lt;/strong&gt;&amp;#160; &lt;/p&gt; &lt;div style="padding-bottom: 0px; One thing to be said for algorithmic formats is that there would a bit less text to deal with and less money going out for legal advice.&amp;#160; Publish the algorithms that need to be met and put them out there, of course along with some text.&amp;#160; If we could have a programmatic approach with certain parameters to meet, it might give us a running start.&amp;#160; &lt;strong&gt;Laws are amended and the same could be done for algorithms.&lt;/strong&gt;&amp;#160; We can’t get rid of text entirely but a working model of what need to be incorporated as the basic standards would sure improve and bring everyone to the same base.&amp;#160; Right now without that support we have a lot of talk going on.&amp;#160; &lt;a href="http://lh3.ggpht.com/_v3zjJigoAPE/SwX1_Z6E0cI/AAAAAAAAbDc/AHK9lLZi1pg/s1600-h/image%5B7%5D.png"&gt;&lt;img style="border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; display: inline; margin-left: 0px; border-top: 0px; &lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;&lt;a href="http://ducknetweb.blogspot.com/2009/08/department-of-algorithms-do-we-need-one.html"&gt;It almost looks like we need to create that department of algorithms.&lt;/a&gt;&amp;#160; This could make manufacturing easier too and again regular meetings to collaborate as changes come along to modify would be fine and it could make any certification processes easier too.&amp;#160; Meetings of course would bring about innovation too among manufacturers and if their algorithms were used for amendments, there would have to be no royalties of any sorts as they would have the running start with a product ahead of others.&amp;#160; &lt;strong&gt;Technology is not going to stop and we seem to be getting more fractured every day to the point where some are zoning out with overflow and marketing.&lt;/strong&gt;&amp;#160; You can only take so much marketing and even just doing this blog I am buried and ignore a lot of it too.&amp;#160; I am still human and can only absorb so much at a time too.&amp;#160; &lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;This brings about another thought too on software, why not use a common user interface too for clinicians?&lt;/strong&gt;&amp;#160;&amp;#160; Why do doctors have to learn so many software programs?&amp;#160; Could you imagine Congress having to sit down and hit the books and learn software to make laws?&amp;#160; Hmmm, well maybe that’s not a bad idea entirely and would create some empathy and knowledge as to what is happening in Health IT as they are clueless. &lt;strong&gt; I believe in competition by all means, but right now we are a bit out of hand where nobody or their brother can make a decision and feel good about it, people argue and they don’t even know the basis of what they are feuding about!&amp;#160; &lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;We have the smart and smarter going up against the dumb and the dumber, and no disrespect here to anyone, but it is what it is.&lt;/strong&gt;&amp;#160; The smart and the smarter need to stop and take a breath and help educate and bring the level up by helping the dumb and dumber so we don’t have this and greed seems to be standing in our way, like Wall Street for an example.&amp;#160; BD&amp;#160; &lt;/p&gt; &lt;blockquote&gt; &lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;For the health IT industry, the silence is deafening. There's little that can be said about the looming release of meaningful use definitions for electronic health records that will be made public in about a month.&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;When National Coordinator for Health IT David Blumenthal gave the opening keynote at the College of Healthcare Information Management Executives&lt;b&gt; &lt;/b&gt;09 Fall Forum in California a couple of weeks ago, he emphasized that point before 550 attendees -- about 320 of them being CIOs at hospitals and integrated delivery systems. He couldn't discuss details of the parameters that health care providers' EHR systems will need to achieve to qualify for stimulus payments under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;CMS is studying a variety of recommendations on the definitions and is expected to issue a Notice of Proposed Rule-Making in December. That will set in motion the process to develop a final rule on the meaningful use criteria for hospitals.&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;&amp;quot;Dr. Blumenthal was seeking input from those of us on the front line of the activity,&amp;quot; Chuck Christian, CIO at Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes, Ind., said, adding, &amp;quot; He was more interested in what we had to say rather than sharing information, and we gave him targeted feedback.&amp;quot;&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;While there is general understanding of what the meaningful use criteria will look like for 2011, it's difficult for many organizations to move forward without the specifics, Christian said.&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt; It is also a long used and beloved natural herbal remedy for all sorts of external aches and pains, including nerve pain and arthritis.&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;&lt;u&gt;&lt;strong&gt;From the website:&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/u&gt;&lt;/p&gt; &lt;/font&gt;&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;&lt;font size="1"&gt;Qutenza&lt;sup&gt;TM&lt;/sup&gt; contains capsaicin in a local dermal delivery system. Qutenza&lt;sup&gt;TM&lt;/sup&gt; may be administered every 3 months or as warranted by the return of pain, but not more frequently than every 3 months. In clinical trials, the most common adverse reactions were application site redness, pain, itching, and papules. The majority of these reactions were transient and self limited. Among patients treated with Qutenza&lt;sup&gt;TM&lt;/sup&gt;, 1% discontinued prematurely due to an adverse event. Serious adverse reactions included application-site pain and increased blood pressure. Blood pressure increases during or shortly after Qutenza&lt;sup&gt;TM&lt;/sup&gt; treatment were on average less than 10 mm Hg, although some patients had greater increases and these changes lasted for approximately 2 hours after patch removal.&lt;/font&gt;&lt;/p&gt; I also was skeptical about the success when initially announced, again going back to lack of education and training.&amp;#160; PHRs are not just something you put out there and wait for the consumers to show up, education and training is needed in order to&lt;strong&gt; SHOW VALUE.&lt;/strong&gt;&amp;#160; We seem to have a difficult time with this word “value” all over the place today from non-participants and the only way to create value is to educate.&amp;#160; &lt;a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/_v3zjJigoAPE/SwV5YC_ik4I/AAAAAAAAbDI/fij6DLWxJSE/s1600-h/image%5B4%5D.png"&gt;&lt;img style="border-bottom: 0px; &lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;I also see a lot folks writing about PHRs and when I ask specific questions on how they are using a program I also tend to get one big zero, in other words,&lt;strong&gt; &lt;a href="http://ducknetweb.blogspot.com/2009/04/do-you-know-what-your-doctor-is-talking.html"&gt;“Magpie Healthcare”, in&lt;/a&gt;&lt;/strong&gt; the fact that so many experts still succumb to the belief that PHRs are for “those guys over there” and in actuality are non participants themselves.&amp;#160; Here’s the original announcement:&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;&lt;a href="http://ducknetweb.blogspot.com/2008/11/cms-names-four-phr-vendors-for-medicare.html"&gt;&lt;font size="2"&gt;CMS names four PHR vendors for Medicare pilot program&lt;/font&gt;&lt;/a&gt;&lt;/p&gt; &lt;h6&gt;&lt;a href="http://ducknetweb.blogspot.com/2009/02/personal-health-records-phr-i-dont-do.html"&gt;&lt;font size="2"&gt;Personal Health Records (PHR), I don’t do technology said the CEO, “it’s for those guys over there”&lt;/font&gt;&lt;/a&gt;&lt;/h6&gt; &lt;p&gt;How many members of Congress use a PHR for example?&amp;#160; Non-participants normally can’t see the value.&amp;#160; A PHR is something for everyone at every walk of life, &lt;strong&gt;not just for the peasants&lt;/strong&gt;.&amp;#160; &lt;strong&gt;I did a follow up post, the pilot was not working well with little participation.&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;&lt;a href="http://ducknetweb.blogspot.com/2009/08/where-are-phr-mentors-education.html"&gt;&lt;font size="2"&gt;Where are the PHR mentors – education required as the Arizona ...&lt;/font&gt;&lt;/a&gt;&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;The bottom line is to invest in educating our citizens in the US, and nobody seems to be able to get a handle on this.&amp;#160; We have devices coming out right and left that report data, what’s the average level of knowledge with the average consumer on this, zero!&amp;#160; I say this as I interact and ask questions all the time, this is the reality.&amp;#160; &lt;strong&gt;We seem to be so wrapped up in the importance of running business intelligence algorithms today that we forget the “human side” of all of this and assume that consumers will read and get all of this – they don’t.&lt;/strong&gt;&amp;#160; We have a huge society of people who do not read and education and training is needed to reach out.&amp;#160; Everybody talks about it, but in reality we have a real “no go” here and an internet full of all the information needed with those who talk about the processes and many failing to be participants themselves.&amp;#160; This is the reality of the pot calling the kettle black.&amp;#160; BD&amp;#160; &lt;/p&gt; &lt;h4&gt;&lt;a href="http://ducknetweb.blogspot.com/2009/10/one-hell-of-training-program-needed.html"&gt;&lt;font size="2"&gt;One Hell of a Training Program Needed – The Bottom Line to Success in Health IT&lt;/font&gt;&lt;/a&gt;&lt;/h4&gt; &lt;blockquote&gt; &lt;p&gt;&lt;i&gt;Medicare PHR Choice offered to Arizona and Utah beneficiaries through 2010.&lt;/i&gt;&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;Phoenix, AZ (&lt;a href="http://www.prweb.com/"&gt;PRWEB&lt;/a&gt;) November 19, 2009 -- Medicare PHR Choice, a pilot program that provides beneficiaries with direct input of claims data into online personal health records (PHRs), will continue through December 2010 according to officials at the Centers for Medicare &amp;amp; Medicaid Services (CMS). The pilot is available to people with Original Fee-for-Service Medicare who are primary residents of Utah and Arizona. &lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;Medicare PHR Choice allows beneficiaries to choose from one of four PHR tools to maintain their health information electronically. The PHR companies--Google Health, HealthTrio, NoMoreClipboard.com, and PassportMD--offer beneficiaries a range of consumer PHR services and features so they may choose which format will best meet their needs. Enrollment in the PHR Choice pilot is free, and some vendors offer additional services for a small fee. &lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;In addition, the Medicare PHR Choice participants are able to enter other health provider and prescription information to their online records. Depending on the specific PHR tool selected, participants may be able to authorize other data transfers, such as prescription records from a participating pharmacy. PHRs also may offer links to tools that help consumers manage their health, including wellness programs for tracking diet and exercise, information about drugs and medical devices, health education information, and applications that detect potential medication interactions.&lt;/p&gt; I would think the company would back date the protection services to in order to protect members.&amp;#160; &lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Once again, this makes a real loud statement about security and the use of external drives and flash drives containing patient and provider information which should be stored on a secured server.&lt;/strong&gt;&amp;#160; This was QB (pictured above), the latest Anybots robot, which is just about to go into private beta testing.&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;&lt;a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/_v3zjJigoAPE/SwS8z6vQozI/AAAAAAAAbCo/S2DPdGUeNCk/s1600-h/image%5B7%5D.png"&gt;&lt;img style="border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; display: inline; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px" title="image" border="0" alt="image" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/_v3zjJigoAPE/SwS81WyVmzI/AAAAAAAAbCs/5TfOD3XOKMU/image_thumb%5B3%5D.png?imgmax=800" width="163" height="156" /&gt;&lt;/a&gt; &lt;a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/_v3zjJigoAPE/SwS85d4eM5I/AAAAAAAAbCw/2-M-8PdelZQ/s1600-h/image%5B8%5D.png"&gt;&lt;img style="border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; display: inline; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px" title="image" border="0" alt="image" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/_v3zjJigoAPE/SwS88I06iGI/AAAAAAAAbC0/4YAG2vAFLck/image_thumb%5B4%5D.png?imgmax=800" width="160" height="157" /&gt;&lt;/a&gt; &lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;It does a pretty good job at unpacking a Roomba.&amp;#160; &lt;/p&gt; &lt;div style="padding-bottom: 0px; margin: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: inline; float: none; padding-top: 0px" id="scid:5737277B-5D6D-4f48-ABFC-DD9C333F4C5D:d4fa4215-1d67-4590-9e87-81cabd486de9" class="wlWriterEditableSmartContent"&gt;&lt;div id="9080649f-8896-4ca2-aa84-44dc4dea9ace" style="margin: 0px; padding: 0px; display: inline;"&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pdEuFhJit0o&amp;amp;hl=en_US&amp;amp;fs=1&amp;amp;" target="_new"&gt;&lt;img src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/_v3zjJigoAPE/SwS8-BhPVMI/AAAAAAAAbC4/2e2F68g5HbM/video7e37a1927f61%5B2%5D.jpg?imgmax=800" style="border-style: none" galleryimg="no" onload="var downlevelDiv = document.getElementById('9080649f-8896-4ca2-aa84-44dc4dea9ace'); downlevelDiv.innerHTML = &amp;quot;&amp;lt;div&amp;gt;&amp;lt;object width=\&amp;quot;324\&amp;quot; height=\&amp;quot;243\&amp;quot;&amp;gt;&amp;lt;param name=\&amp;quot;movie\&amp;quot; value=\&amp;quot;http://www.youtube.com/v/pdEuFhJit0o&amp;amp;hl=en_US&amp;amp;fs=1&amp;amp;&amp;amp;hl=en\&amp;quot;&amp;gt;&amp;lt;\/param&amp;gt;&amp;lt;embed src=\&amp;quot;http://www.youtube.com/v/pdEuFhJit0o&amp;amp;hl=en_US&amp;amp;fs=1&amp;amp;&amp;amp;hl=en\&amp;quot; type=\&amp;quot;application/x-shockwave-flash\&amp;quot; width=\&amp;quot;324\&amp;quot; height=\&amp;quot;243\&amp;quot;&amp;gt;&amp;lt;\/embed&amp;gt;&amp;lt;\/object&amp;gt;&amp;lt;\/div&amp;gt;&amp;quot;;" alt=""&gt;&lt;/a&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;/div&gt; &lt;p&gt;&amp;#160;&lt;/p&gt; &lt;div style="padding-bottom: 0px; margin: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: inline; float: none; padding-top: 0px" id="scid:5737277B-5D6D-4f48-ABFC-DD9C333F4C5D:d02f3940-1d86-4989-998a-67ba007239da" class="wlWriterEditableSmartContent"&gt;&lt;div id="0409e8aa-1200-4d05-aaf1-e571a8c837d2" style="margin: 0px; padding: 0px; display: inline;"&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mkzgglYjNvY&amp;amp;hl=en_US&amp;amp;fs=1&amp;amp;" target="_new"&gt;&lt;img src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/_v3zjJigoAPE/SwS9ADLHhwI/AAAAAAAAbC8/PWUFus6I4U0/video19941b12b4ac%5B2%5D.jpg?imgmax=800" style="border-style: none" galleryimg="no" onload="var downlevelDiv = document.getElementById('0409e8aa-1200-4d05-aaf1-e571a8c837d2'); downlevelDiv.innerHTML = &amp;quot;&amp;lt;div&amp;gt;&amp;lt;object width=\&amp;quot;320\&amp;quot; height=\&amp;quot;240\&amp;quot;&amp;gt;&amp;lt;param name=\&amp;quot;movie\&amp;quot; value=\&amp;quot;http://www.youtube.com/v/mkzgglYjNvY&amp;amp;hl=en_US&amp;amp;fs=1&amp;amp;&amp;amp;hl=en\&amp;quot;&amp;gt;&amp;lt;\/param&amp;gt;&amp;lt;embed src=\&amp;quot;http://www.youtube.com/v/mkzgglYjNvY&amp;amp;hl=en_US&amp;amp;fs=1&amp;amp;&amp;amp;hl=en\&amp;quot; type=\&amp;quot;application/x-shockwave-flash\&amp;quot; width=\&amp;quot;320\&amp;quot; height=\&amp;quot;240\&amp;quot;&amp;gt;&amp;lt;\/embed&amp;gt;&amp;lt;\/object&amp;gt;&amp;lt;\/div&amp;gt;&amp;quot;;" alt=""&gt;&lt;/a&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;/div&gt; &lt;p&gt;&amp;#160;&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;I tried out QB at the 2009 IEEE conference on &lt;a href="http://www.tepra2009.wpi.edu/"&gt;Technologies for Practical Robot Applications&lt;/a&gt; (TePRA) conference, where I also met Erin Rapacki, Anybots' newest employee. &lt;h4&gt;&lt;a href="http://ducknetweb.blogspot.com/2008/08/decode-nearly-doubles-revenues-in-q2.html"&gt;&lt;font size="2"&gt;Decode Nearly Doubles Revenues in Q2 - Personalized Medicine&lt;/font&gt;&lt;/a&gt;&lt;/h4&gt; &lt;p&gt;As the article states it was not all the economy that lead to the bankruptcy filing, but it certainly didn’t help.&amp;#160; The tests and research did not end up being significant enough to help bolster the development of medical genetic tests and help with production of pharmaceutical products.&amp;#160; When the new owners take over, the fate of the Iceland facility will be addressed, will it stay or go?&amp;#160;&amp;#160; It certainly seems that someone could make use of the facility and research on hand and create some new business models for going in some new directions.&amp;#160; Since deCode began though, many competitors have emerged as well, so competition in this area became very fierce, very fast.&amp;#160; BD&lt;/p&gt; &lt;blockquote&gt; &lt;p&gt;DeCode &lt;a href="http://health.nytimes.com/health/guides/specialtopic/genetics/overview.html?inline=nyt-classifier"&gt;Genetics&lt;/a&gt;, a pioneering company that used the Icelandic population as its guinea pigs in detecting disease-causing mutations, filed for bankruptcy on Tuesday.&lt;img style="border-bottom: 0px; &lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;The company’s demise suggests that the medical promise of the human genome may take much longer to be fulfilled than its sponsors had hoped. Based in Reykjavik, Iceland, it was founded in 1996 by Dr. Kari Stefansson, a research neurologist who worked at the &lt;a href="http://topics.nytimes.com/top/reference/timestopics/organizations/u/university_of_chicago/index.html?inline=nyt-org"&gt;University of Chicago&lt;/a&gt; and at Harvard. After the human genome sequence was achieved in 2003, Dr. Stefansson quickly realized that Iceland’s excellent medical records, combined with the genealogical information available on its close-knit population, provided a fine test bed for seeking the roots of genetically complex diseases like &lt;a href="http://health.nytimes.com/health/guides/disease/cancer/overview.html?inline=nyt-classifier"&gt;cancer&lt;/a&gt;, &lt;a href="http://health.nytimes.com/health/guides/disease/diabetes/overview.html?inline=nyt-classifier"&gt;diabetes&lt;/a&gt; and &lt;a href="http://health.nytimes.com/health/guides/disease/schizophrenia-disorganized-type/overview.html?inline=nyt-classifier"&gt;schizophrenia&lt;/a&gt;.&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Whatever business errors deCode may have made, a principal reason for its downfall is scientific — the genetic nature of human disease has turned out to be far more complex than thought.&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt; Aetna has won some and lost some in the corporate bidding battles as employers have been one of their key targets.&amp;#160; Bank of America and Tri-Care have been 2 of their recent awarded contracts.&amp;#160;&amp;#160; What else does this mean potentially, more automation and less potential individuals to speak with.&amp;#160; All companies are streamlining their&lt;img style="display: inline; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px" align="right" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/_v3zjJigoAPE/SusbRM-IxzI/AAAAAAAAaug/UK0iQfXruUc/image_thumb[1].png?imgmax=800" /&gt; operations to incorporate automation, being made possible with new algorithms and business models.&amp;#160; &lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;The “scoring” of claims of course will continue and that process, if you read the news in the last six months, is on a sky rocket with data improvements and algorithmic automation.&amp;#160; The company is of course still making money, but with lay offs today, that means little as automation will serve to increase current profits.&amp;#160; The healthcare insurance business, outside of Wall Street itself has been one of the heaviest investors in software technology, business intelligence runs the business models and the entire way they do business.&amp;#160; BD&amp;#160; &lt;/p&gt; &lt;blockquote&gt; &lt;p&gt;NDIANAPOLIS - Health insurer Aetna said Wednesday it will cut 625 jobs immediately, or nearly 2 percent of its staff, and will make a similar number of cuts by the end of the 2010 first quarter due to the lagging economy and the potential impact of health care reform.&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;Hartford, Conn.-based Aetna trimmed 977 jobs last December and currently has about 35,500 people.&lt;strong&gt; Several other large insurers, including Indianapolis-based WellPoint Inc. and Philadelphia-based Cigna Corp., also have announced cuts. &lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;Health insurers have faced growing financial pressure in the past few quarters as corporate job cuts have trimmed the number of people covered by employer-sponsored health insurance. Many insurers project enrollment losses will continue into 2010 as the unemployment rate is projected to keep rising.&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;Aetna, the third largest publicly traded managed care company, saw medical enrollment grow 8 percent in the third quarter to more than 19 million people. But it expects to lose 225,000 people in the fourth quarter and another 650,000 in the first quarter of 2010, spokesman Fred Laberge said.&lt;/p&gt; &lt;/blockquote&gt; &lt;p&gt;&lt;a href="http://www.cnbc.com/id/34023284"&gt;Aetna cutting more than 1,000 jobs by 1st quarter - News Wires - CNBC.com&lt;/a&gt;&lt;/p&gt; The next chips would be able to read 6 samples at one time.&amp;#160;&amp;#160; IBM states the testing of course could be used by doctors as well as pharmaceutical companies.&amp;#160; When you watch the video you can see the sample move across the chip, smaller than a tear drop.&amp;#160; In a former life I worked for a logistics company which is now owned by FedEx and this brings back some memories and is also very a very interesting innovation for those involved in transporting Life Sciences cargo, which can vary in content from being lab samples to supplies, etc.&amp;#160; At some point in time we all have to rely on common carriers for sending and receiving good and high value medical/life science cargo usually pays top dollar and demands priority, simply due to the fact that it is science and healthcare related, time and condition sensitive.&amp;#160; I am always amazed with FedEx and their innovation as they seem to wait for nobody and forge ahead and I’ll still remember the day years ago in the Airbus simulator I had a number of years ago, being able to experience simulation in what now might be called the “early days”.&amp;#160; &lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;You can read through the text here and &lt;strong&gt;it’s not hard to figure out how useful the SenseAware technology will be, especially if you were say in Israel and making a time sensitive shipment to the US,&lt;/strong&gt; it could be material needed for clinical trials for a simple example.&amp;#160; We are getting to the end of dry ice days it appears as better methodologies are being used by various companies too.&amp;#160; &lt;strong&gt;&lt;a href="http://ducknetweb.blogspot.com/2009/05/cryoport-and-fedex-solution-for.html"&gt;You can read more here&lt;/a&gt;&lt;/strong&gt; on what &lt;strong&gt;FedEx and Cryport&lt;/strong&gt; are doing in this effort and an earlier post from this year with a &lt;a href="http://ducknetweb.blogspot.com/2009/02/fedex-ceo-frederick-w-smith-talks-about.html"&gt;message from Fred Smith, the CEO,&lt;/a&gt; speaking of current times and the plans for the &lt;strong&gt;future for FedEx.&lt;/strong&gt; &lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;Just as a side note of information, &lt;strong&gt;did you know you can use Twitter to track your FedEx packages?&lt;/strong&gt;&amp;#160; This is a post from last year and the services through Twitter has been around for a while now.&amp;#160; &lt;/p&gt; &lt;h4&gt;&lt;a href="http://ducknetweb.blogspot.com/2008/06/trackthis-twitter-on-drugs-for-mail.html"&gt;&lt;font size="2"&gt;TrackThis: Twitter on Drugs for Mail Order Prescriptions…Track Fedex, UPS, DHL Packages…&lt;/font&gt;&lt;/a&gt;&lt;/h4&gt; &lt;p&gt;Once the SenseAware program gets moving it will allow both parties to see the real time status and condition of the shipment.&amp;#160; This will be interesting as well as &lt;strong&gt;it would seem to also involve some type of notification process to for the pilots of the aircraft too&lt;/strong&gt; when shipments using the technology are on board.&amp;#160; Some of the aircraft flown by FedEx, namely the &lt;strong&gt;MD-11 jets already are assisted with Tablet PCs&lt;/strong&gt; that take over many of the functions that used to be done manually.&amp;#160; A flight plan is loaded and just finding airport (JEPPS) maps is accomplished much easier with a computer and I remember way back helping someone file all of those, I had the filing end of that chore.&amp;#160;&amp;#160; Lately there has been some bad press about notebooks in the cockpit, but there are legitimate and aviation functions where they are needed and that area will grow.&amp;#160; &lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;This will be interesting to follow and see how the new tracking device works!&amp;#160; Again, we can always seem to look to FedEx for setting the pace for others to follow and those high value shipments relating to Science and Healthcare will be right on the mark.&amp;#160; BD&amp;#160; &lt;/p&gt; &lt;blockquote&gt; &lt;p&gt;FedEx Corp. (NYSE: FDX), today announced &lt;strong&gt;SenseAware&lt;sup&gt;SM &lt;/sup&gt;powered by FedEx,&lt;/strong&gt; a next generation, first-of-its-kind information service that combines a GPS sensor device and a web-based collaboration platform. Developed by the FedEx innovation team, SenseAware will provide increased access to information between business partners and customers to aid in the management of supply chain interactions and will target the life sciences industry at launch. &lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Available in the spring of 2010, SenseAware is an open, highly adaptive and easy-to-use sensor information sharing platform.&lt;/strong&gt; It is a multi-modal solution that will serve customers who desire near real-time visibility and insight into their shipments. SenseAware will provide business decision makers the ability to quickly and easily collaborate on many types of information data across their global supply chain. &lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;SenseAware is permitted by the Federal Aviation Administration to be used during flight on FedEx aircraft and will &lt;strong&gt;allow customers to monitor in-transit conditions during ground transportation. &lt;a href="http://lh5.ggpht.com/_v3zjJigoAPE/SwLTO7BPZ6I/AAAAAAAAbBY/0RNOhBQLq94/s1600-h/image%5B6%5D.png"&gt;&lt;img style="border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; display: inline; margin-left: 0px; border-top: 0px; margin-right: 0px; border-right: 0px" title="image" border="0" alt="image" align="right" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/_v3zjJigoAPE/SwLTQKFC72I/AAAAAAAAbBc/GmjoVgfG_YY/image_thumb%5B2%5D.png?imgmax=800" width="164" height="129" /&gt;&lt;/a&gt; &lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;A SenseAware device riding with a FedEx shipment can provide the following information: &lt;/p&gt; &lt;ul&gt; &lt;li&gt;Precise temperature readings &lt;/li&gt; &lt;li&gt;A shipment's exact location &lt;/li&gt; &lt;li&gt;When a shipment is opened or if the contents have been exposed to light &lt;/li&gt; &lt;li&gt;Real-time alerts and analytics between trusted parties regarding the above vital signs of a shipment &lt;/li&gt; &lt;/ul&gt; &lt;p&gt;SenseAware can be easily adopted as it does not require a costly software installation, infrastructure or large managed-service commitments. The added flexibility of the SenseAware device enables it to be used for single shipments or in large palletized shipments. &lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Available in 2010, SenseAware will initially target the health care and life sciences industry. SenseAware was created through intensive research and beta-testing with customers within those industries.&lt;/strong&gt; Pilot customers immediately recognized the benefits of the technology during an internal testing phase and realized the potential to shorten inventory turnaround time on closed loop shipments by having complete inbound visibility to all shipments.&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;By providing extensive aggregated data shipment information, the technology will help life science customers comply with audits and quality checks, which occur regularly on such highly regulated products,&lt;strong&gt; For example, within the industry, many shipments must remain within a specified ambient or cold-chain temperature range to be effective for use in patient care. By having the correct and necessary data, users can make the proper business decisions to replenish or make other arrangements to meet the business requirement.&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt; &lt;/blockquote&gt; There’s a lot of elective type surgeries that are also being put off.&amp;#160; &lt;strong&gt;With approximately 55% of the hospitals in the US operating in the “red” today&lt;/strong&gt; you can almost bet those &lt;a href="http://lh3.ggpht.com/_v3zjJigoAPE/SwJko-X9YzI/AAAAAAAAbBI/DQ_JSj7vESQ/s1600-h/image%5B4%5D.png"&gt;&lt;img style="border-bottom: 0px; BD&amp;#160; &lt;/p&gt; &lt;blockquote&gt; &lt;p&gt;Recently released third-quarter results from a handful of publicly traded companies that provide physicians, nurses and other staff for hospitals and other medical facilities indicate that business is down.&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;&amp;quot; The unprecedented market contraction experienced by the health care staffing industry over the past year is a direct reflection of the rapid rise to historically high levels of general unemployment,&amp;quot; said Susan R. Nowakowski, president and chief executive officer of AMN Healthcare Services Inc., in a statement announcing the financials for that company.&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;AMN experienced a 47% drop in revenue in the third quarter of 2009 compared with the third quarter of 2008, down to $167 million from $315 million. This translated to a net loss of $2 million, compared with a $9.5 million gain during the same quarter of 2008.&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;In the first nine months of 2009, the company had total losses of $119 million.&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;Revenue from providing nurses and other health care professionals was down 62%, and revenue from &lt;i&gt;locum tenens&lt;/i&gt; physicians was down 12%. Money earned from placing physicians decreased by 31%.&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;On Assignment Inc., which provides nurses and physicians as well as engineers and scientists, announced a 39% revenue drop to $98.1 million.&lt;/strong&gt; Health care staffing revenues fell 9.6% from the second quarter of 2009 to the third quarter. This was primarily a result of a 23.6% drop in demand for traveling nurses, because&lt;strong&gt; cash-strapped hospitals put a hold on bringing in temporary staff.&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;The company said reduced demand for its services was behind the losses.&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt; &lt;/blockquote&gt; &lt;p&gt;&lt;a href="http://www.ama-assn.org/amednews/2009/11/16/bisc1116.htm"&gt;amednews: Fewer temporary physicians needed :: Nov. 16, 2009 ... Women that fall under the BRCA-1 and BRCA-2 genes tests though, would not be subject to the guidelines established.&amp;#160; The BRCA tests are also being scrutinized by health insurance companies as well since they appear to be a big expense at around $3000.&lt;a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/_v3zjJigoAPE/SwJB16VONtI/AAAAAAAAbA0/B2BrxKKpFu4/s1600-h/image%5B4%5D.png"&gt;&lt;img style="border-bottom: 0px; &lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;So now where do we go from here, should we have more of the BRCA-1 and BRCA-2 tests done to actually find the women who need to have the screening started earlier?&lt;/strong&gt;&amp;#160; It would make sense to me and again I wonder if cost is somehow in the picture a bit. &lt;strong&gt; There is also a big move to bring down the costs of the tests and share some of the genomic data with other researchers too&lt;/strong&gt; instead of one company having a hold on the full patent.&amp;#160; Patents are changing quite a bit today too, ask any pharma company.&amp;#160; BD&lt;/p&gt; &lt;blockquote&gt; &lt;p&gt;For the first time in 20 years, a government panel is telling women in their 40s to stop getting routine mammograms and recommending that a host of other breast cancer screening slow down.&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;The &lt;a href="http://www.ahrq.gov/CLINIC/uspstfix.htm"&gt;United States Preventive Service Task Force&lt;/a&gt; announced Monday that it recommends against annual mammograms for women age 40 to 49 because, they say, the &amp;quot;harms&amp;quot; and risks of testing do not outweigh the benefits. &lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;USPSTF still recommends doctors start screening all women over age 50, but with a mammogram once every two years instead of annually. &lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;The task force also recommends against teaching &lt;a href="http://abcnews.go.com/Health/OnCallPlusBreastCancerNews/story?id=5380790&amp;amp;page=1"&gt;breast self-exams&lt;/a&gt; for all women and said evidence was insufficient to recommend mammograms for women older than 74. &lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;Anecdotally, most people in the United States can think of a woman they know who caught breast cancer through a routine mammogram long before she turned 50. Many patient advocates wonder if money fueled the decision.&lt;/p&gt; &lt;/blockquote&gt; &lt;p&gt;&lt;a href="http://abcnews.go.com/Health/OnCallPlusBreastCancerNews/mammogram-guidelines-spur-debate-early-detection/story?id=9099145"&gt;New Mammogram Guidelines Spur Debate Over Early Detection - ABC News&lt;/a&gt;&lt;/p&gt; &lt;div style="padding-bottom: 0px; margin: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: inline; float: none; padding-top: 0px" id="scid:0767317B-992E-4b12-91E0-4F059A8CECA8:db566b48-5936-400f-b18f-79414f832189" class="wlWriterEditableSmartContent"&gt;Technorati Tags: &lt;a href="http://technorati.com/tags/Mammograms" rel="tag"&gt;Mammograms&lt;/a&gt;,&lt;a href="http://technorati.com/tags/screening" rel="tag"&gt;screening&lt;/a&gt;,&lt;a href="http://technorati.com/tags/healthcare" rel="tag"&gt;healthcare&lt;/a&gt;,&lt;a href="http://technorati.com/tags/guidelines" rel="tag"&gt;guidelines&lt;/a&gt;,&lt;a href="http://technorati.com/tags/breast+cancer" rel="tag"&gt;breast cancer&lt;/a&gt;,&lt;a href="http://technorati.com/tags/x-rays" rel="tag"&gt;x-rays&lt;/a&gt;,&lt;a href="http://technorati.com/tags/preventive+medicine" rel="tag"&gt;preventive medicine&lt;/a&gt;,&lt;a href="http://technorati.com/tags/BRCA" rel="tag"&gt;BRCA&lt;/a&gt;&lt;/div&gt; &lt;div class="blogger-post-footer"&gt;&lt;img width='1' height='1' src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/tracker/3741684961227307530-5059483596736954541?l=ducknetweb.blogspot.com' alt='' /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;</content><link rel='replies' type='application/atom+xml' href='http://ducknetweb.blogspot.com/feeds/5059483596736954541/comments/default' title='Post Comments'/><link rel='replies' type='text/html' href='http://ducknetweb.blogspot.com/2009/11/mammogram-guidelines-change-screening.html#comment-form' title='0 Comments'/><link rel='edit' type='application/atom+xml' href='http://www.blogger.com/feeds/3741684961227307530/posts/default/5059483596736954541'/><link rel='self' type='application/atom+xml' href='http://www.blogger.com/feeds/3741684961227307530/posts/default/5059483596736954541'/><link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://ducknetweb.blogspot.com/2009/11/mammogram-guidelines-change-screening.html' title='Mammogram Guidelines Change – Screening Should Start at 50 and Then Only Every 2 Years'/><author><name>The Medical Quack</name><uri>http://www.blogger.com/profile/12443589277651479846</uri><email>noreply@blogger.com</email><gd:extendedProperty xmlns:gd='http://schemas.google.com/g/2005' name='OpenSocialUserId' value='10614936575606334259'/></author><thr:total xmlns:thr='http://purl.org/syndication/thread/1.0'>0</thr:total></entry><entry><id>tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3741684961227307530.post-3980362376198305596</id><published>2009-11-16T22:08:00.001-08:00</published><updated>2009-11-16T22:08:51.344-08:00</updated><category scheme='http://www.blogger.com/atom/ns#' term='Other Items of Interest'/><category scheme='http://www.blogger.com/atom/ns#' term='Technology'/><title type='text'>Coffee Monitor Management - System Center Operations Manager To Let You Know When Supply Has Reached Dangerous and Unacceptable Levels</title><content type='html'>&lt;p&gt;Forget about securing the data and working on the data center, this comes first, the coffee!&amp;#160; This is actually pretty interesting to see how the web &lt;a href="http://www.microsoft.com/systemcenter/operationsmanager/en/us/overview.aspx"&gt;&lt;img style="border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; display: inline; margin-left: 0px; border-top: 0px; margin-right: 0px; border-right: 0px" title="image" border="0" alt="image" align="right" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/_v3zjJigoAPE/SwI96odZ7BI/AAAAAAAAbAo/ZnsYoSvWYIQ/image%5B5%5D.png?imgmax=800" width="138" height="47" /&gt;&lt;/a&gt;cam and the software takes over to let you know when coffee levels are dangerous, in other words almost gone.&amp;#160; &lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;Only real geeks would do this, but if you were stuck in a data center, you would completely understand!&amp;#160; &lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;Watch the video and see how the configuration goes here, almost makes an EHR look simple,&amp;#160; but this appears to be our future, configuring the coffee pot someday and even it will have no privacy. &lt;p&gt;&amp;quot; This new model of cloud computing will provide our employees with a single place to access real business insights, improve standards compliance, and create a repository of best practices throughout the company,&amp;quot; IBM said the Smart Analytics Cloud offering is currently available. &lt;/p&gt; &lt;/blockquote&gt; &lt;p&gt;&lt;a href="http://www.informationweek.com/news/business_intelligence/analytics/showArticle.jhtml?articleID=221800099&amp;amp;cid=RSSfeed_IWK_All&amp;amp;utm_source=twitterfeed&amp;amp;utm_medium=twitter"&gt;IBM Launches Business Analytics Cloud -- InformationWeek&lt;/a&gt;&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;&lt;/p&gt; &lt;div style="padding-bottom: 0px; margin: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: inline; float: none; padding-top: 0px" id="scid:0767317B-992E-4b12-91E0-4F059A8CECA8:ee6da219-dffa-4be9-9f98-f221f6ed3096" class="wlWriterEditableSmartContent"&gt;Technorati Tags: &lt;a href="http://technorati.com/tags/IBM" rel="tag"&gt;IBM&lt;/a&gt;,&lt;a href="http://technorati.com/tags/cloud+servcies" rel="tag"&gt;cloud servcies&lt;/a&gt;,&lt;a href="http://technorati.com/tags/business+intelligence" rel="tag"&gt;business intelligence&lt;/a&gt;,&lt;a href="http://technorati.com/tags/healthcare" rel="tag"&gt;healthcare&lt;/a&gt;,&lt;a href="http://technorati.com/tags/competition" rel="tag"&gt;competition&lt;/a&gt;,&lt;a href="http://technorati.com/tags/analytics" rel="tag"&gt;analytics&lt;/a&gt;,&lt;a href="http://technorati.com/tags/CIO" rel="tag"&gt;CIO&lt;/a&gt;&lt;/div&gt; &lt;div class="blogger-post-footer"&gt;&lt;img width='1' height='1' src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/tracker/3741684961227307530-7670537077828278279?l=ducknetweb.blogspot.com' alt='' /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;</content><link rel='replies' type='application/atom+xml' href='http://ducknetweb.blogspot.com/feeds/7670537077828278279/comments/default' title='Post Comments'/><link rel='replies' type='text/html' href='http://ducknetweb.blogspot.com/2009/11/ibm-putting-business-intelligence-in.html#comment-form' title='0 Comments'/><link rel='edit' type='application/atom+xml' href='http://www.blogger.com/feeds/3741684961227307530/posts/default/7670537077828278279'/><link rel='self' type='application/atom+xml' href='http://www.blogger.com/feeds/3741684961227307530/posts/default/7670537077828278279'/><link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://ducknetweb.blogspot.com/2009/11/ibm-putting-business-intelligence-in.html' title='IBM Putting Business Intelligence in the Cloud – Smart Analytics Cloud Services Available'/><author><name>The Medical Quack</name><uri>http://www.blogger.com/profile/12443589277651479846</uri><email>noreply@blogger.com</email><gd:extendedProperty xmlns:gd='http://schemas.google.com/g/2005' name='OpenSocialUserId' value='10614936575606334259'/></author><thr:total xmlns:thr='http://purl.org/syndication/thread/1.0'>0</thr:total></entry><entry><id>tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3741684961227307530.post-4824112814488299331</id><published>2009-11-16T08:53:00.001-08:00</published><updated>2009-11-16T08:53:31.944-08:00</updated><category scheme='http://www.blogger.com/atom/ns#' term='Technology'/><category scheme='http://www.blogger.com/atom/ns#' term='Medically Related'/><title type='text'>23andMe Changes Prices and Splits on Ancestry and Health DNA Services</title><content type='html'>&lt;p&gt;The Genomics business is getting more personalized too as time moves on and current marketing is also causing some restructuring and change to occur.&amp;#160; In a way you this is good as a patient can focus their interest in one direction or another, do you want more health or ancestry related &lt;a href="https://www.23andme.com/"&gt;&lt;img title="image" border="0" alt="image" align="right" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/_v3zjJigoAPE/SuuFXBDoXhI/AAAAAAAAavM/KJMergK2IM4/image%5B4%5D.png?imgmax=800" width="146" height="100" /&gt;&lt;/a&gt;information with your DNA reading.&amp;#160; Recently I also reported that an insurance carrier is also offering discounts to policy holders if they want to have a DNA process created for them.&amp;#160; The marketing efforts of most DNA Genomic companies appears to be partnering more so for a larger concentration of coverage in capturing potential customers all the way around.&amp;#160; BD &lt;/p&gt; &lt;blockquote&gt; &lt;p&gt;Personal genomics company 23andMe &lt;a href="http://spittoon.23andme.com/2009/11/13/get-just-the-information-you-want-23andme-to-offer-separate-health-and-ancestry-editions/#more-5333"&gt;announced yesterday on its blog&lt;/a&gt; (and in an email to customers) of impending changes to its product line. Until now 23andMe has offered only two products: its $399 full scan, and a $99 Research Revolution product that &lt;a href="http://scienceblogs.com/geneticfuture/2009/07/23andme_launches_new_effort_to.php"&gt;offers limited functionality and a focus on common disease risk prediction&lt;/a&gt;. &lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;There are two major components of the altered product line. Firstly, customers will now be able to purchase separate products focusing on health and ancestry: the Ancestry Edition ($399) will focus on ancestry and genealogy analyses, while the Health Edition ($429) will provide risk predictions for common diseases and provide an updated line of carrier testing for rare, severe, recessive mutations relevant to reproductive decisions. It sounds as though 23andMe plans to move more extensively into the carrier testing market.&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;Finally, the company will still be offering its full scan to customers, but at &lt;b&gt;an increased price of $499&lt;/b&gt;. If you want to get the full scan at the current price of $399 you have only a few days to order: &lt;b&gt;the price hike comes into effect on November 19th&lt;/b&gt;.&lt;/p&gt; &lt;/blockquote&gt; &lt;p&gt;&lt;a href="http://scienceblogs.com/geneticfuture/2009/11/23andme_raises_prices_splits_i.php?utm_source=selectfeed&amp;amp;utm_medium=rss"&gt;23andMe raises prices, splits its health and ancestry analyses : Genetic Future&lt;/a&gt;&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;&lt;u&gt;&lt;font size="2"&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Related Reading:&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/font&gt;&lt;/u&gt;&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;&lt;font size="1"&gt;&amp;#160;&lt;/font&gt;&lt;a href="http://ducknetweb.blogspot.com/2009/10/23andme-personal-genomics-company-lays.html"&gt;&lt;font size="1"&gt;&lt;b&gt;23andMe&lt;/b&gt; Personal Genomics Company Lays Off Some Workers&lt;/font&gt;&lt;/a&gt;&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;&lt;a href="http://ducknetweb.blogspot.com/2009/04/california-outpatient-centers-offering.html"&gt;&lt;font size="1"&gt;California Outpatient centers offering 23andme Genome service&lt;/font&gt;&lt;/a&gt;&lt;/p&gt; &lt;div style="padding-bottom: 0px; margin: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: inline; float: none; padding-top: 0px" id="scid:0767317B-992E-4b12-91E0-4F059A8CECA8:4dcebd83-9a10-4a93-a88b-f2b059f25da4" class="wlWriterEditableSmartContent"&gt;Technorati Tags: &lt;a href="http://technorati.com/tags/23+and+Me" rel="tag"&gt;23 and Me&lt;/a&gt;,&lt;a href="http://technorati.com/tags/Google" rel="tag"&gt;Google&lt;/a&gt;,&lt;a href="http://technorati.com/tags/healthcare" rel="tag"&gt;healthcare&lt;/a&gt;,&lt;a href="http://technorati.com/tags/DNA" rel="tag"&gt;DNA&lt;/a&gt;,&lt;a href="http://technorati.com/tags/genomics" rel="tag"&gt;genomics&lt;/a&gt;,&lt;a href="http://technorati.com/tags/silicon+Valley" rel="tag"&gt;silicon Valley&lt;/a&gt;,&lt;a href="http://technorati.com/tags/R+and+D" rel="tag"&gt;R and D&lt;/a&gt;,&lt;a href="http://technorati.com/tags/Science" rel="tag"&gt;Science&lt;/a&gt;&lt;/div&gt; &lt;div class="blogger-post-footer"&gt;&lt;img width='1' height='1' src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/tracker/3741684961227307530-4824112814488299331?l=ducknetweb.blogspot.com' alt='' /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;</content><link rel='replies' type='application/atom+xml' href='http://ducknetweb.blogspot.com/feeds/4824112814488299331/comments/default' title='Post Comments'/><link rel='replies' type='text/html' href='http://ducknetweb.blogspot.com/2009/11/23andme-changes-prices-and-splits-on.html#comment-form' title='0 Comments'/><link rel='edit' type='application/atom+xml' href='http://www.blogger.com/feeds/3741684961227307530/posts/default/4824112814488299331'/><link rel='self' type='application/atom+xml' href='http://www.blogger.com/feeds/3741684961227307530/posts/default/4824112814488299331'/><link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://ducknetweb.blogspot.com/2009/11/23andme-changes-prices-and-splits-on.html' title='23andMe Changes Prices and Splits on Ancestry and Health DNA Services'/><author><name>The Medical Quack</name><uri>http://www.blogger.com/profile/12443589277651479846</uri><email>noreply@blogger.com</email><gd:extendedProperty xmlns:gd='http://schemas.google.com/g/2005' name='OpenSocialUserId' value='10614936575606334259'/></author><thr:total xmlns:thr='http://purl.org/syndication/thread/1.0'>0</thr:total></entry></feed>
