Its a 1995 300TDi 3 Door in Coniston Green that needs some work and tidying up.IT-SECnoreply@blogger.comBlogger5125tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3738884193396420362.post-21224200641117777822007-07-04T14:26:00.000+01:002007-07-04T14:31:32.018+01:00Front axle woesThere has been a rattle coming from the front axle for a few days that has been a pain to diagnose. After some work which include replacing all the wheel bearings (they needed doing anyway) and driving in tight circles with my head out of the window listening for the CV's, I have come to the conclusion its the brake pads moving. The pads have a lot of space to move and the fixings dont really hold them in place properly. There are some anti rattle springs fitted but they are not very good at what they are supposed to do. I am planning to replace the pads with some genuine Land Rover ones that might fit better.IT-SECnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3738884193396420362.post-8933426255182369042007-06-27T10:58:00.000+01:002007-06-27T11:01:42.790+01:00It passedJust got the disco back from the garage with a new shiny MOT certificate.

2 Advisories:

Play in both front wheel bearings

Wear in rear damper bushes

Looks like I have a weekend of wheel bearings and suspension coming up!

As the back end is looking a little low I am going to replace the rear springs and dampers. Currently deciding over standard or heavy duty springs. Bizarrely the HD springs are the cheaper option.
IT-SECnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3738884193396420362.post-37289711572243974282007-06-26T23:25:00.000+01:002007-06-26T23:33:23.039+01:00MOT Prep
Did an oil and filter change today in prep for the MOT tomorrow. By the looks of the air filter it hadnt been changed in a good few years. I also used some 10k Boost which you spray into the air intake as the engine is running at aprox 2000 rpm. Judging from the cloud of black smoke that ran the full length on my street it has shifted some crud.

Also had a good look at the boot floor. Discoveries have a common issue with water leaking in and collecting on the rear floor panel. This then rusts and eventually needs replacing. My disco has some rust that I have wire brushed and painted. So far there are no holes but I am going to keep a close eye on it as it can only get worse over time.

IT-SECnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3738884193396420362.post-32094315985538594262007-06-25T19:27:00.000+01:002007-06-25T19:35:10.075+01:00To do list:There a few things that need to be done to the vehicle in the next few days. I intend to post to this blog about the various things I intend to do (and probably a few I didn't intend) to my Land Rover Discovery.

IT-SECnoreply@blogger.com
