National media descend on FeelCreative!

It's been a busy week at FeelCreative's gallery in Didsbury, with the national media descending on this normally quiet corner of Manchester for live TV broadcasts, radio interviews and news reports.

Last week saw the gallery launch an exclusive exhibition by Anne Kirkbride, better known as Deirdre Barlow from Coronation Street.

The exhibition immediately attracted the attention of the local papers, with the Manchester Evening News devoting half of it's front page to a picture of Anne, and a full page write-up inside.

But that was nothing compared with the 24 hours that followed.

We had to open at 5.30am on Wednesday to allow the GMTV cameras inside to do an exclusive live feature.

This culminated with an interview with Anne on ITV, broadcast live from the gallery at 8.30am.

Literally seconds before that went on air, she had also found time to do a live radio interview with BBC Radio Manchester.

And later that day, Granada Reports arrived to film a news piece.

If that wasn't enough, the national media were now featuring the story, with The Sun, The Daily Mail and The Telegraph all devoting large articles to the exhibition.

It's been an amazing week of non-stop publicity, with the exhibition attracting far more attention than even we ever thought it would.

We've had customers driving from far and wide to see Anne's work, and the stream of visitors hasn't died down yet.

It just goes to show what a popular and much loved figure Anne - and Deirdre - is.

Coronation Street Legend on the other side of the camera lens

FeelCreative's latest exhibition gives visitors a glimpse into the life of one of Britain's most famous soap stars.

Anne Kirkbride, who has played Coronation Street's Deirdre Barlow for 36 years, uncovered a hidden talent for photography when a TV documentary on her family history revealed it was in her blood.

She began exploring ways to improve her shots by digitally enhancing them using an oil-painting effect, removing and adding colour and depth.

Now her work is on display for the first time - at FeelCreative's gallery in Didsbury.

Most of the canvases on display were taken near her Spanish villa, featuring Mediterranean images of blue skies against white walls and evocative street scenes.

It's a unique opportunity to peer into a previously unseen area of Kirkbride's life, and to buy one of the actress's exclusive signed prints.

Anne's prints will be on display from Thursday November 6th until mid-December, and they will also be available to buy through the FeelCreative website.

The exhibition is being launched with a party at the gallery from 7pm till 9pm on Thursday November 6th, with everyone welcome to come down and meet the star of the show.

'Images of Manchester' on display in Didsbury

FeelCreative gallery on Barlow Moor Road, Didsbury, are showing an exhibition of the work of photographer Michael Swallow.

The exhibition is entitled "Images of Manchester" and it celebrates the changing face of the city, portraying Manchester as a vibrant and energetic modern European centre.

The gallery is hosting a launch party for the exhibition from 6pm - 8pm on Thursday, October 9th. The images will then be on display in the gallery for the rest of the month.

Didsbury-based Michael studied Art and Photography at Napier College in Edinburgh, and since graduating in 1988 he has created powerfully evocative images for his international client portfolio.

This particular collection features stunning contemporary night-time photography, with subjects including the Beetham Tower, Urbis and the Manchester Wheel.

Gallery Manager Sarah Longworth says that Michael's work is expected to be a big hit with FeelCreative's customers.

"Images of Manchester are always popular with our gallery visitors, and Michael's pictures make the city look more dynamic and exciting than any photography we've seen before", she says.

FeelCreative are one of the UK's largest online art retailers and the Didsbury shop, opened last year, is their first gallery. They will be exhibiting the work of other local artists throughout the year.

In the last couple of weeks we have added a new, improved online shopping system to our site.

This site gives our vistors a much more user-friendly experience when buying art from FeelCreative.

For a start, our new shopping cart allows you to buy multiple items of different sizes and dynamically calculates your postage and packaging costs.

This allows us to offer you P&P discounts when you buy more than one item.

Secondly we have improved our integration with Paypal's secure online payment servers so that your transactions are now smoother and safer than ever.

And once your order is placed, you'll receive an email which includes a link to an online summary of the order, so you'll be able to see all the details whenever you like.

Site improvements in progress

You may have noticed that we have been making a number of improvements to the FeelCreative website over the last week or so.

We'll explain these improvements in more detail over the next few days, but for now we'll give you a brief rundown of the new functionality we're adding:

- New prices and P&P costs - we've reduced a number of our prices and also reduced the shipping costs on many of our prints! Inflation? Not at FeelCreative!
- A new shopping basket system to allow you to buy multiple prints and also get postage discounts if you order more than one.
- Improved navigation around the site to allow us to bring you a host of new pages and features.
- New product lines being added - keep checking back for information about these.

This position represents an exciting opportunity to work for a rapidly-expanding company in a creative environment at our gallery in Didsbury.

The main tasks involved are:

- Liaising with customers regarding graphic design and web design work

Top music photographer picks FeelCreative

FeelCreative are delighted to have worked with Karen McBride, one of the UK's leading music photographers, on her new Manchester exhibition.

Karen, who is recognised as one of the most notable female music photographers, opens her portfolio and her heart in her first ever city centre exhibition, taking place at the Greenroom, Manchester, from 1st to 31st of October.

A master of both iconic black and white images and thrillingly vibrant colour, she's a virtuoso of her craft with the ability to step back and wait for that alternative angle, rather than going for the obvious shot.

FeelCreative were very excited to be chosen to produce the prints for Karen's exhibition, and she was thrilled with the finished results.

FeelCreative's Didsbury Gallery has opened its doors to a new staff member, with Sarah Longworth joining the team as a Marketing and Production Assistant.

Equipped with Journalism and Graphic Design experience and a passion for art, photography and all things creative, Sarah plans to push FeelCreative's success through the roof.

Since opening in February 2007 the Barlow Moor Road-based gallery has been a huge success, creating unique quality canvases for customers not just in Manchester but all over the world.

Sarah is a local graduate with a degree in Journalism and a Masters in Design and Art Direction. She has been working as a Graphic Designer for the last 12 months and enjoys painting, photography and life drawing in her spare time.
