The problem with the United States is that we have become way too obsessed over test scores and the facade (GPAs) of learning and forgotten the main goal of any education: the ability to take knowledge and apply it to the real world. How many brilliant figures out there in the world either were poor at studies (Einstein for example) or just plain dropped out (Bill Gates) because they were tired/bored with the ridiculous system?

Education should aid, not hinder, personal growth. Too many people have forgotten the goal and focused on the path to it.Inferushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10756261434195198587noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-37279386.post-38301740745287280022007-09-03T16:46:00.000-07:002007-09-03T16:46:00.000-07:00a friend of mine from europe whom i hold near and ...a friend of mine from europe whom i hold near and dear to my heart decided to attend my high school, with a mediocre swim team, rather than a prestigious private school with one of the state's top swim programs. the principal allowed her to come in after first period (7:05-8:55)for classes and attend her club practies in the morning, and she would attend our hs practice at night. she won a state title her frehsman year. many cases like this are well taken care of by understanding educators. good to hear you had some success with your siwmmer.

-robertnoleAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-37279386.post-75255389699762510852007-08-30T18:05:00.000-07:002007-08-30T18:05:00.000-07:00Tomorrow’s episode of ABC’s World News Tonight wil...Tomorrow’s episode of ABC’s World News Tonight will feature Dara Torres as “Person of the Week”. I think my principal, who was indeed awesome, understood that swimming could take me to more places and open more doors than could Stats homework. I made sure to let her know when I graduated from college overe here and thank her for the huge allowances she made for me during high school in New Zealand.Janenoreply@blogger.com
