During the month of July I will be away chilling with some zebras and elephants in Africa. As I chill, Torontobefore wil continue to display a wonderful menu of great Toronto historical pics. Every Monday for the next five weeks you will be brought a George Dunbar Then and Now. Transit Tuesdays return to TOB4 followed by an Urban Toronto Then and Now on Wednesdays. On Thursdays we will take a long trip back into time and visit King Street 50s to 90s style, that’s 1850s. And on Fridays we will have Retro Toronto, color pics from to 50s, 60, and 70s. Now that’s 1950s. Enjoy, see you in August…. AC

Here's a bit on Jeff low "Mustapha" from Urban Toronto's Then and Now Forum. The Torontoist is very active these days in posting wonderful articles on Toronto's History. Jeff would probably say the same, once you start putting then and now photos together it is very dificult to stop. Way to go and keep up the good work.

1861 Toronto: Suddenly Chaos, Out of Chaos anf Flood and Fire! - Very intersting reads*

1901 Toronto Census Sample: Unlike the 1861 Toronto project which is going to consist of a full 100% sample of the population, the 1901 Toronto Test Sample is a 20 percent sample of dwellings taken from the Toronto 1901 census. The city's population exploded inbetween those 40 years and to transcribe the whole of 1901 would take some time. When you do the math and add the numbers the findings should be very comparable, according to the top historical social scientists in the country. It's not quite ready for serious stastical analsys but it's getting there. Any one have a burning question about the people who lived in this city or in a particular area in the GTA 109 years ago? Just ask and we'll see what we can do.

There are many awesome then and now comparisons posted there most of which are posted by a very dedicated then and now contributor Mustapha.
