It seems like there isn't much else to talk about these days. Everyone needs to be tuning in to watch the 2008 Olympics in Bejing. Michael Phelps is writing history and taking gold in every single event. So far, in the 2008 Olympics, Phelps as 5 gold medals which puts him at 11 gold medals all-time. He's got 3 more opportunities to get a gold medal this Olympics and solidify his standing as the greatest Olympian to ever live. Incredible story:

Russia expanded its attacks on Georgia this past Sunday, moving tanks and troops through the separatist enclave of South Ossetia and advancing toward the city of Gori in central Georgia. This is Russia's first direct assault on a Georgian city with ground forces during three days of heavy fighting. This is definitely a story to watch as it develops during the Olympics. From the looks of the photos it looks like Russia is setting up shop.

Today, John Edwards became the latest politician to publicly admit infidelity. The former North Carolina Senator and one-time Democratic Presidential candidate admitted earlier today to having an extramarital affair with Rielle Hunter, a former campaign aide. Edwards’ announcement puts an end to the speculation and rumors that have been swirling since the National Enquirer first reported the affair in October. Despite admitting to having an affair with Hunter, Edwards still adamantly denies being the father of Hunter’s six month old child, Frances Quinn.

Virgin Mobile Festival - Why wouldn't you go?

I can't think of a reason. It seems like everything Virgin does is hot. The festival takes place in Baltimore on August 9th & 10th and will feature artists like: Kayne West, Bob Dylan, Stone Temple Pilots, Nine Inch Nails, Jack Johnson, Foo Fighters, etc....

What is the total line-up of artists? I mean, who all is going to be at this shindig?

Ticket prices for a two day admission are $175. That's a flat out steal.

2008 Olympics - It's that time! (Scores, Schedules, News & More)

With the opening ceremony of the 2008 Olympics starting this Friday, August 8th (check your local listings for the exact time), we have a lot to be excited about.

The Olympic games will run from August 8th to 24th in Beijing. The Olympic program currently consists of 28 summer sports, including: Archery, Badminton, Baseball, Basketball, Beach Volleyball, Boxing, Canoe, Cycling, Diving, Equestrian, Fencing, Football, Gymnastics, Trampoline, Handball, Hockey, Judo, Modern Pentathlon, Rowing, Sailing, Shooting, Softball, Swimming, Table Tennis, Taekwondo, Tennis, Triathlon, Volleyball, Water Polo, Weightlifting, Wrestling. Approximately 10,500 athletes are expected to participate in the Games, with around 20,000 accredited media broadcasting the Games to the world.

So, who are the most likely candidates for both Barack Obama and John McCain?

Here is what it looks like right now:

John McCain - Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney, Minnesota governor Tim Pawlenty, former Ohio congressman Rob Portman, South Dakota Sen. John Thune, Florida Gov. Charlie Crist and Virginia Rep. Eric Cantor.

Barack Obama - Delaware Sen. Joseph Biden, Indiana Sen. Evan Bayh, Virginia Gov. Tim Kaine, Kansas Gov. Kathleen Sebelius and Texas Rep. Chet Edwards, and perhaps a few others. Hillary Clinton has always been a long shot, but Obama may be hard pressed to think of someone better qualified.

Anthrax Case Resolved

It's not the exact ending we were looking for but it looks as though the case has come to an end. Bruce E. Ivins, a senior government scientist who helped investigate the deadly anthrax attacks in 2001, died last week of an apparent suicide. DNA analysis of anthrax in victims' bodies led investigators to Ivins who killed himself just before he was charged in the deadly 2001 anthrax attacks. He died July 29 of an overdose of prescription Tylenol mixed with codeine. Ouch, that can't be a nice way to go.

There is no denying it - John McCain's campaign is in trouble. It just seems like he's running a desperate, ugly campaign with Obama and getting nowhere. The newest saga has McCain's camp accusing Obama of playing "played the race card." I guess he did that by being black??

No, it's not. However, Indian brothers Jayant and Rajat Agarwalla, have returned with a new word puzzle game only two days after courts ruled that their Scrabble-like game was infringing on Hasbro's copyright. The new game, Wordscraper, is fairly similar to Scrabble and features many of the same options that made many Facebook users fans of the original Scrabulous. With a different look and feel it looks like Wordscraper is here to stay. Will it be as successful as Scabulous?

Los Angeles was hit by an earthquake today causing no serious damage or injuries. The earthquake had a magnitude of 5.4 and it's epicenter was 3 miles west-southwest of Chino Hills and 28 miles east-southeast of the Los Angeles Civic Center. (Which is in downtown Los Angeles) Is most of California at risk for earthquakes in the future?

Federal Budget deficit surges to $468 Billion! Record Amount!

Unfortunately, we are at a time where our federal budget will be the highest ever. At $482 billion things are not looking good for our society. Either McCain or Obama will have quite a task at hand in order to get us back on track. With $720 million a day or $500,000 a minute being spent on the war in Iraq it doesn't look like we will be out of debt any time soon.

Herberman, director and head of the University of Pittsburgh Cancer Institute, issued a warning to his faculty and staff yesterday: Limit the use of cell phones because of the potential risk of cancer. Although many studies have stated otherwise this is pretty scary. Will cell phone use cause more cancer in the future?

Is it worth the risk?

So far, Viagra's effect in women has been disappointing. It seems to help with a woman's orgasm but does not extend to other aspects of sex, such as desire.

Hey, maybe they can make a drug that helps with the parenting of children, enables us to fly or better yet, makes us bulletproof. Seems like Pfizer's attempt to create another big $$$ maker.

However, our country's small wind turbine market has grown 14% in the past year and more people are continually investing in the idea of having 20% of our nation's energy being run by wind in 2030. Is The Dark Knight a hit?

Saw The Dark Knight and it was incredible. This may in fact be the best Batman film I have ever seen. Although it was sad to think that Heath Ledger is no longer around I was highly impressed with his performance. He seemed to really get into his role. A definite "must see" in my books.

Buying a Smart Car is the new craze these days. With the MSRP of these small guys ranging from $11-590-$16,590 they aren't exactly a steal but they sure look cool.

The truth is that you really don't want this to be your main car. As a second, commuting-only car, it's perfect. They sip fuel (which is really helpful these days), can be parked almost anywhere, are fast around town and incredibly stylish. Trust me, your friends will notice.

The only thing I can say poorly is that it has a jerky transmission which will leave you wondering, "Why can't Smart Car figure this out?" Oh, and did mention that you'll feel like you're on a bike when driving on the highway? Yeah, scary.

I'm going to give this car and overall thumbs up if you live in the city and are going to use it for commuting. Smart Car has my vote.

GM to cut Jobs, Production & Benefits

Today is another ugly day in our economy as GM decides it will be cutting an unspecified number of white-collar jobs, eliminating health-care benefits for retirees 65 and older , possibly sell some of its model lines and immediately suspending dividend payments for investors. Things aren't looking good.

InBev to purchase Anheuser-Busch for $52B

It looks like Anheuser-Busch (Budweiser) is going to be selling all of it's "assets" to InBev, now the world's largest brewer, for a hefty sum of $52 billion. At $70 a share, Anheuser-Busch shareholders must be pretty happy. Sorry St. Louis, MO....you've still got the Rams & Cardinals!
